88 Chinese Express is located a few blocks from the convention center and shares the same building as Sakura Restaurant. Do not let the lower reviews on some sites deter you from ordering here as the food is good. They have the standard Chinese restaurant options you'd expect. We called in our order and went with two Chicken and Broccoli orders, one combo and one large. Large comes with white rice, combo comes with fried rice and spring roll. There are a handful of tables available for dine in, but our pickup order was available in a reasonable amount of time. Portion size for the price is reasonable and everything tasted good. The fried rice is golden which is my preferred fried rice. Overall, 88 Chinese Express is worth ordering from, and if downtown is super busy during an event, one of the few places that requires no reservation. read more

Eighty Eight Chinese Express - Chicken and Broccoli combo. - Chinese Near Me - Lancaster, Pennsylvania

This is a take out place with a dine in area. Nice little spot, friendly people and reasonably priced for some quick Chinese food. The main dishes were good but not great. Primarily they were under seasoned and lack a more traditional flavor but to be expected? Try it out and see what you think! read more

Stopped here during a convention on the recommendation of a friend and we wanted to avoid delivery services if possible. First, this is a solid Chinese restaurant. No frills, nothing fancy but filling, delicious meals. Exactly what you picture if you want a basic Chinese takeaway. We called in our order and in about 15 minutes it was ready. Impressive for a large convention weekend. Got an order of Sweet & sour chicken combo and General Tso Combo. Both came with egg rolls and fried rice. We also got Crab Rangoons and Wonton soup. Thats where I had to knock off a star. The rangoons were fine but the wonton soup used a broth I wasn't familiar with. It's not chicken based but darker, maybe beef or pork? Just a flavor I didnt care for but the wontons themselves were delicious. Husband picked up our order and said staff were friendly and quick despite the large number of orders going in and out and our order was correct. Besides the soup I will be stopping here again if we're near by. read more

Very disapointed. Always loved there food. But the order that we got today was not what we ordered. We ordered Gen Tso Chicken mild, It was so HOT and I found about 5 chilli peppers in it. I had maybe to chunks and could not eat anymore, we ordered Pork fried rice we got Chicken, our egg rolls was filled with hard carrots. Very disappointed. read more

I have eaten at this countless of times. I really think they had good lunch deals. My recommendation is the black pepper beef lunch combo which comes with pork fried rice and spring roll. I also recommend their fried chicken wings, lo mein (ask for spicy) and general Tao chicken. Super fast too for takeout. read more

My go to spot for those lazy, not cooking kinda days. I don't recommend eating in, not the cleanliest place in town. The delivery fee is less than two dollars and turnaround time is pretty good. I like that I can order online and they've added the white/brown rice option. It used to be fried rice only and I'd have to add a note to substitute for white rice. And an added option for General Tso's - mild, medium, hot. I prefer hot, but my kids don't. So now I can customize to suit their needs. 88 is always satisfying and puts me straight into food coma mode. read more

Eighty Eight Chinese Express - Sweet & Sour, General Tso's, Vegetable Lo Mein, Crab Rangoon, fried veggie roll. - Chinese Near Me - Lancaster, Pennsylvania

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, this restaurant had been closed for sometime but have recently opened again. Takeout and delivery options are available. They have taken similar precautions including required masks to enter and a plexiglass shield at the counter. Regardless, their food is cheap, fast and consistent. Today I had Shrimp Lo Mein and Hunan Chicken lunch specials. Each was accompanied by pork fried rice and choice if roll or soup. I chose the hot and sour soup and wonton soup. Everything was good but I especially like the "wok hei" this place produces on the noodles. The wok hei is the smokiness imparted in food from a very well seasoned wok. Glad they are open again. read more

Ordered online for pickup. Had no issues and the food was perfect. Even the leftovers were great to satisfy my cravings for the day.

Best Chinese takeout around! Very very high quality food - big slices of chicken that are flavored perfectly, chow Mein was delicious as was the Eggroll and shrimp roll. Soup was full of ingredients (hot and sour soup) and service was very quick too. Traveled over 20 miles to try it and worth the trip. read more

My son is vegetarian and when we were traveling through Lancaster I needed to find him something in a hurry. 88 Chinese express was close by, they were friendly on the phone, and they made a great and huge portion of veggie lo mein for him. They even put extra broccoli in on request, and he loved it. I would definitely return. read more

Too much shade for this place, from reviews written by people who don't write a lot of yelp reviews. Decent food, decent price, with s menu just like every other Chinese carry out place, in every town in America. They did not screw up my order; I got it VERY quickly, and it was packed very carefully. It was still very hot when I got back to my room. My hotel room go to his egg drop soup, and chicken with vegetable(broccoli, string bean, asparagus, etc.). I'm tempted to give them a fourth star, because they don't deserve the hate they've gotten on yelp. If I'm back in Lancaster for the night, they are definitely a good option for carry out. read more

They are the worst. I place an order and they gave it to someone else. What the heck. I spoke to the manager she said she will call back. Never called back. I called back she's on break.. oh no she's not here. Now I'm told...If you want food delivery you should place an order. Hmmmm I did.... They didn't knock on the door. Yes they called and said they will be at the door in 2 minutes. I went to the door. No body. I called he said he gave it to some man. Who paid cash. Wow! You spoke to a woman, you didn't go to the address. Your manager ran and didn't handle the situation at all. The only good thing that came out of this..I still have my money. But they left me and my mom hungry. read more

This was terrible, I called they hung up when I asked to speak to someone about my burnt food, they charged me almost 40$ for food, and the eggs were burnt, how are you burning eggs, and charging more than before, plus meal was small , what is wrong with people... I will never go to them again please stay away who knows what's in our food!!! read more

I am usually not the one who would vote just one star. However, I fear I must give this place a one star. I was home sick and a friend of mine was in the mood for Chinese food so I told her I would order her some General Tso and I will just get soup. Placed the order online....didn't want to call it in because I sounded awful and was pretty much confined to bed. 20 minutes later I get a call and this is the general jist of the conversation: "Hello this is 88 Chinese Express. Where is your apartment?" Considering there is only three small apartment buildings on our tiny one block campus, I found it hard to imagine she really looked. "It's the building to the right. Just go in the front door and I'm on the third floor." "I cannot find you." "There's only three buildings and my building number is huge...you cannot miss it." "You come down here and get food." "I am sorry, I am in bed sick. I cannot. Can you please come up instead?" There was a pause. "No. You come down here and get food." So, I put on my clothes, and go down stairs and outside (sick as a dog) and she is literally right there....in her car waiting for me....not even 20 yards from the front door. I called to make a complaint. They never called back to apologize. DO NOT buy from these people. If an older woman delivers she will make you go to her...and she doesn't care if you are sick. read more

Do not buy from this restaurant. The food and service are poor. Don't waste your time ordering from this restaurant. I'll report this restaurant to the BBB for poor service. read more

Typical Chinese take out spot in downtown Lancaster City. This place is not worth visiting. It is very hard to find parking. There is a lot of construction going on around the building so the place looks closed. Food: The food is often tasteless. I left this place and asked myself why did I just spend my money there. I have given this restaurant more than 3 chances but was disappointed every time. Service: When I complained that my food was cold. The gentleman at the counter was extremely rude and made it seem as if it was some how my fault. read more

My favorite is the sweet and sour chicken with steamed rice and a fortune cookie :) The staff is fast and friendly.

What a great find. I love these hole-in-the wall places. Lunch portion was just right. Tasty meal. Rice a little over cooked but still fine. Clean (including the restroom) and very nice people. If I was a local I'd go back. read more

I was hanging out with a friend when he ordered from this place. Oh my god! Not only can you order online, but they call you when they arrive! I got my standard Boneless Ribs with Fried Rice and there was a lot of meat in my container. Wow. I'm very impressed with not only the portion size but also the taste of the food. I'm very glad my friend suggested this place. Though I don't live in the city, I plan to try this place again, maybe even go to the place for another opinion. read more

Rate 0 stars !! Service & quality terrible !! Send you the wrong food and when you call to complain they always seem to say if they're busy time and will take them at least an hour to get you the correct order and if you're not satisfied with that refuse to credit you back for your purchase very arrogant & unapologetic even when error is their fault . Also check your delivery charge I've noticed on the past three orders they charge me double the fee and always tell me I'll get credit credit on the next order and it never happens !! read more

For what this restaurant's name lacks in creativity it makes up with it's creative approach to customer service. Stroll in at 10:30 on a Friday night, the restaurant closes at 11, and you will be greeted by a guy sweeping up anything on the floor, including your feet. After making your way to the front desk, you will be greeted by a guy behind the counter talking very loudly to another person on speaker phone who then proceeds to start giving a credit card number, well good thing Rain Man is not around. When you are ready, you will give your order and you are asked what drink you want. Problem, you forgot about your drink order, not knowing what drinks they have, you proceed to look at what drinks are available for consumption. You will be asked no less then 5 times what drink you want and after telling them, "Sorry, I do not know what you have, I need to look." The man will tell you that they have Apple Juice, five times. You get the Apple Juice because for some reason that is sticking in you head. You pay, your friend leaves this Customer Service Award Winner of the year a tip, you do not. The person behind the counter then tells you that they will be closing in 10 minutes. You look at the time, it is 10:40. Your eyes proceed back to the sign at the door that says the restaurant closes at 11. He then tells you the food will be ready in 10 minutes. At 10:50 the food arrives, you sit down and eat. This is mainly done because of the pestering about the Apple Juice. You and your friend eat. Food tastes like Chinese food. Not special. But you have had worse. At 10:55 the guy that was sweeping your feet is now mopping your feet. He apologizes, so I guess it is excusable. But now you get to enjoy the smell of cleaning fluid with your food, your favorite. It is now 11:00 and your entertainment, the television, is turned off. After five minutes the Customer Service Award Winner asks if you are done eating because they are closed. Never mind the person who just left with food for deliveries or the fact that any other restaurant lets you eat at their restaurant even after closing time as long as you are in before closing time. You leave through an unlocked door. You walk back to your car and ponder, "If they are closed why didn't they lock the door? And why is it when I waitresses or worked retail I never used this approach to customer service? When that person came in a full minute before closing, why didn't I just berate them about Apple Juice or not let them in?" read more

My boyfriend ordered in restaurant expecting my food to be nice and hot when he got to the house. It took a few minutes for him to get home but once I opened it up and tried to start eating all the food was cold in the middle or lukewarm. My steamed broccoli was cold like they didn't cook it long enough from being in the freezer. The general tso chicken was soggy despite asking for it to be extra crispy and lastly the rice was barely warm and was a little hard. Very disappointing and probably will not return in the future. read more

I had crab rangoons and fried rice. So far best in lancaster. Service was great and very fast. Definitely my new favorite place

For those who complained that delivery takes long, it's probably because the food is so good that their TWO phones ring non-stop. (Seriously!) Best Singapore Mai Fun I've had in years! read more

The most salty food I have ever eaten. When here once my freshman year of college. And that's it, it tasted like salt.

The food is good but the hospitality lacks alot when calling. I just called and I don't get an hello or can I help you instead I get a angry (yeah) like as if I'm the one who ruined his day, overall it's best if you just don't call read more

Not good for general tso tofu. It was hollow and WAY overdone. Bad spring roll, too. You could taste the age of the grease. Was also approached by a homeless woman as I ate, asking me to buy her food. It's not their fault she was in there but it sure was annoying. I guess there's a reason they're big on take out!! Had it not been snowing, I would've gotten it to go the second I saw her walk in. read more

I love the food here, but delivery does take quite a long time. Today was my fifth order, and when I called, the person who answered the phone simply said "{my address}? It's on the way" and I tried to thank him, but he hung up before I could say or ask anything else. I am a little bit offended by the rudeness, but I haven't experienced that any other time I've ordered. However, delivery is ALWAYS slow. The food is really good, but don't expect your order in under an hour. read more

I have been a regular (lunch 3x +/- per week) for many years. The lunch special is the best deal in downtown Lancaster. The food is fresh, of superior ingredients, and is ready when promised. Li, the owner, is a very competent restauranteur who successfully operates several businesses with emphasis on quality. Steve, the counter man/cashier, is quick and accurate, and has quite the wit. Highly recommended! read more
