I've been here 3 times now and most recently with my parents! This place has not disappointed me…read moreeach time I've come. It was pretty busy on Saturday when we went for dinner but we didn't have to wait too long and our food actually came out pretty fast. The service was as expected because it looked like 1 guy was serving all tables and he was literally running between table to table. I don't blame him for any waiting because he was busting his butt and we didn't really need to wait too long. We ordered a variety of dishes coming here but my favorite has to be the Homestyle Tofu or the Fish Filet. I would like to try more dishes next time. They give you quite a good amount of food for the price. Some places charge the same and give you much less. This place has authentic Chinese food with some common favorites that many of us also know (chicken with broccoli, lo mein, general tso's etc.) so there is something for everyone. There are vegetarian dishes available as well. If you're in the area and would like more savory, authentic Chinese food I recommend coming here!

Dinner for my party of three which is characteristically occurring either at 4:00 pm or 5:00 pm…read more(pending all three's physical presence together) we dined here on Independence Day 2026. Surprisingly Yi Pin is open and fully operational on a major federal holiday. The air conditioning is rather weak during our dining experience as I felt warm during the Northeast heat wave oppressive humidity continuous week. Condiments issued at the table were aged dark vinegar, green tea but not Matcha was complimentary served. My party only use aged dark vinegar as a condiment for dumplings. We have a predilection for mellow, malty sweetness of dark vinegar rather than the high salt content in soy sauce. Customer service is attentive and staff is fluent in Mandarin and English. Yi Pin is a Chinese restaurant that serves regional cuisine of Shanghainese and Szechuan province. It is what my party of three refer non-Cantonese, Guangdong province 外省人 ngoi6 saang2 jan4 (noun) outside province; foreign person. Ergo, staff does not speak Cantonese - neither rudimentary level. Price is extortionate high, but expected in 2026 stagflation era. I was able to obtain the sales receipt as keepsake. Asian melon hard candy is distributed with the bill upon meal completion which is industry standard for Asian restaurants and cafes. At the bottom of the sales receipt there is a suggested gratuity in intervals of 18%, 20% and 22% where customers do not have to perform math calculation. There is one large beautiful Japanese beckoning cat, (maneki-neko) which adjacent to the cash register. Business cards are available for grabs. There is a customer parking lot available. Beef noodle soup $15.95 The soup broth bubbles are very visible for the high level of cholesterol and fat content. I believe the cook or kitchen staff used and implemented MSG. This was a big setback leading to disappointment for my three Yelp stars. La mian wheat based noodles were embedded and sufficient. I enjoyed the La mian wheat noodles. Lo Mein chicken $12.95 It was stirred fried and abundant for excessive quantity. I did not consume any - neither one bite. It seemingly appeared very high grease and fat content for excessive oil. Shanghainese soup dumplings 6 pieces, $10.95 Pork steam soup dumplings siu2 lung4 baau1, 小籠包 tasted average, but not exuberant great to awaken my soul for sprightly liveliness. There were very minimal soup liquid inside the dumpling upon biting. I did ponder with hope and wonder during our wait for our food order arrival that these soup dumplings would be bursting with excessive soup liquid and flavor. It was not served piping hot as I am accustomed in NYC Shanghainese restaurant industry standards. These dumplings prepared by the cook(s) or kitchen staff at Yi Pin are egregiously appalling and insult to New York Chinese. I refused to apologize for being a native New Yorker. The dumpling skin tip where placing the serving tongs also tasted hard. Also another reason for my three Yelp stars.

I mean it was RANK, just heated up. Took it back to get a refund, which was declined. Lady inside offered to "exchange" our food and, in her own words, "cook it right this time." I told her no repeatedly, we just wanted our money back, we received old food. (Not willing to give the restaurant another chance for obvious reasons.) She refused the refund. We told her to smell the food because just by smelling it was obvious the food was bad. Our sweet and sour sauce had a fermented taste and smell. The rice was old and dry. The BBQ pork was overcooked and chewy, like old gum. The only thing that was RIGHT with our order was the 2-liter Pepsi we got prepackaged. The lady refused to give us a refund and admitted to knowingly serving us old food. Asked if she does this to everyone, she responded, "no, just you." Long story short, I will not be giving my business and money to a restaurant that knowingly serves old and BAD FOOD!!! DO NOT ORDER FOOD FROM HERE BECAUSE ONCE YOU BUY IT, IT'S YOURS OLD OR NOT! THEY DO NOT GIVE REFUNDS!

But I dismissed that because most Chinese places are primarily takeout. Due to a shortage of staff, we had to order and pay at the counter. Again, not a big deal. Food took some time to arrive. I ordered Red Curry seafood delight and my brother ordered General Tso. Portion were generous and food was good. Heat level of my curry was appropriate. The only issue I had was that even though we were seated at tables, all food arrived in takeout containers, even the curry. Plates were just paper. Utensils were silverware though. If they served food on regular plates, they would get another star. But for takeout, they would be very acceptable.

Stopped here for quick lunch while in the area. This isn't my first time here but my first review…read more I was craving lo mein and that's exactly what I ordered with shrimp. I was informed that I needed to spend a minimum of $10 to use my card so I added an egg drop soup and chose to dine in. One of the wonders of some Chinese dishes is how quickly they can be prepared so my order was hot and ready in no time at all. And although I chose to dine in, my order was served in to go containers should I choose to take leftovers with me. The egg drop soup was hot and I needed to let it cool some before I could consume it. Also, the soup included a small side of crispy noodles for garnish. It was the standard, umami laden soup I needed on this cold day to warm me up and I finished every last drop. The shrimp lo mein was good too and had a hint of wok hei which I always appreciate. The dining room is basic but was clean. I did not experience any ill customer service either.

Green Garden is easily our favorite Chinese takeout restaurant in the area. We drive from a few…read moretowns over to pick up food here. It is absolutely worth the trip. The steamed dumplings are the best I've tried anywhere in Pennsylvania. They're packed with meat and have so much flavor -- not the kind where you get a lot of dough and barely any filling. Even the dumpling sauce they include is delicious. It adds another layer of flavor without covering up the taste of the dumplings themselves. Their fried rice is also excellent, and Green Garden is the only place where I order extra egg rolls specifically to put in the refrigerator. Later in the week, I cut them up and heat them with the leftover fried rice, and it makes another great meal. We also really like the lemon chicken and boneless spareribs. The spareribs have excellent flavor, and it's rare to get a piece that has more fat than meat. That makes a big difference because I've ordered boneless spareribs from other places where far too much of the container ended up being fatty pieces I didn't want to eat. The lunch and dinner specials are reasonably priced, offer plenty of choices, and come with more than enough food. We've tried quite a few things from the menu and haven't found anything we didn't like. As good as the food is, the service may be what really sets Green Garden apart. Everyone is genuinely friendly, and special requests never feel like an inconvenience. The owner has an amazing memory, too. When we walk in, she recognizes us and remembers the little changes we sometimes request without us having to explain everything again. That kind of personal service is increasingly hard to find. The best recommendation I can give is that we drive about 25 minutes and pass several closer Chinese restaurants to come here. Green Garden is that good.

We ordered at the counter and our food came out to the table quickly. DH's hot and sour soup was a large bowl (plastic take out container) and it was chock full of vegetables and tofu. He loved it. My wonton soup was good and had 2 wonton but no roast pork. I missed that. Each came with a baggie of very good crispy fried noodles. I ordered roast pork with vegetables. It was good and plentiful and came with a large portion of fried rice. The veggies were fresh and tasty. I thought it needed more sauce but it was good. DH ordered sweet and sour chicken. It was the star of the meal. Fresh , tender white meat chicken pieces fried to perfection in a very tasty batter. They came with a delicious sweet and sour sauce served in a separate container. Lots of fried rice with the chicken. Only criticism is that the sauce was not warm. We decided to take home another dish to go with our leftovers. We got boneless ribs, one of my favorites. It was very good with a very generous portion of rice and pork in a sweet sauce. The meat was tender but I'd have liked more sauce. We bought the lunch specials and with the specials you can get soup for an additional modest charge. The prices are right. The hot and sour soup and sweet and sour chicken were solid 5s. The roast pork, vegetables and wonton were a 3.5. The boneless ribs were a solid 4. So I averaged all to 4 stars. I think I'd take home rather than eat there. The lady who cooked and served was very nice. I'd go again next time I'm in that end of town.
