I really prefer to support small business when I can and my 3 stars may be a bit harsh. We saw an ad in a local paper and decided to venture down to the strip center next to Stauffers. The sign is old and needs freshening as my eyes initially overlooked it among the other stores. When we entered 2 staff were in the adjacent dining room shelling peas. We were directed to a table and ordered unsweet tea. The server brought us a paper cup of ice and a bottle of Gold Peak tea. She asked if my mother and I are sisters, and my mother is 90 so I shrugged that off. She went on to talk to me about being Christian, etc. Another couple came in while we were dining and I think they got a take out order. Otherwise it seemed slow. We chose some fairly traditional Chinese American dishes which came out microwave hot. Soup had a nice broth. The dishes looked just like most small Chinese restaurant food dishes anywhere. The fried rice was a rather tasteless yellow rice with some dried peas. Edible but very unremarkable. I had to go ask for boxes which it turns out our food was served in so she just brought lids, and our server insisted on bagging it for us. I noted we did get actual metal forks but all other items were served in plastic or paper. I tipped her generously and our bill was about $30. I probably will not return unless I am really craving any Chinese food. It was definitely better than chinese from the food store that you microwave, but overall I just wasn't that impressed. However if you are not fussy and just want cheap Chinese takeout I imagine you will be happy enough. read more

I was in the mood for some good Asian food and this restaurant was convenient to get to. I was traveling and I needed dinner and I did not want to spend a lot of time driving around. Upon walking into this place I was a little surprised at the extreme amount of plastic separating the customers from the staff, but I realize that we're in the Covid era so that's just the way it is at some places. It just makes hearing each other a bit more challenging than it might otherwise be. There's no dining-in at this restaurant, it was strictly carry-out only. Now to what really matters...the food quality. We ordered two dishes, chicken with vegetables and General Tso's beef. I know you don't frequently see this last dish made with beef, but i thought I would give it a try. The chicken and vegetables dish was good, just not anything special to me. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with the beef dish. I found that the there was very little beef in the dish and the quality of the beef did not seem great to me. The sauces were just so so. I've had much better Asian dishes in many other restaurants. The next time you're in the area I'd recommend that you keep looking if you're having a craving for great quality Asian food. read more

Despite living one town over, this was our go-to place when we wanted Chinese or Thai food. Great lunch specials with generous portions, and a large menu for larger dinner gatherings. The meats tended to be of higher quality than other options and both the food and service is always consistently very good. The restaurant itself is a pretty standard Chinese restaurant - plenty of seating, rarely a wait, and quiet even when busy. read more

It's always important to have a Chinese to-go place in town. Jade Garden (JG) is my to-go spot. The food is typical American Chinese but it also has Japanese--and maybe a little bit of Thai. JG has been around since 1995 and seems to have a good reputation around town. They only use 100% vegetable oil in their dishes according to their website. Every time I receive valpak in the mail, there are coupons for JG, especially the $5 off with purchase of $35 or more. I've never eaten in, but it seems pleasantly enough when I pick up my order and the staff is always polite. I normally order the same thing (typical sesame chicken, lo mein, fried rice, egg rolls, combination platter, etc.) but tonight I tried the vegetable pad thai and gyoza. The gyoza were pretty good and the pad thai was decent. I didn't love the flavor but the noodles weren't overcooked and the veggies were fresh. I enjoyed the level of heat. It's very similar to our go-to place back in Suffolk, China Moon. But, JG gives us fortune cookies without us asking. Bonus! read more

We have been going to Jarden for years. Food is always very good. The meat is always tender. It's not fatty and chunky like some places. They are always friendly. Have never had a order that was messed up or wrong. Probably the best Chinese food in our area. read more

We've ordered takeout here a lot during the pandemic. It's super easy. Their menu is online, and I call in our order. Normally 15 minutes later I'm picking up piping hot, delicious food. Fresh and delicious. Prices are cheap, but the food is anything but that. My favorite menu items are the General Tso Chicken lunch platter that comes with fried rice and an egg roll. Jade Garden underwent an expansion. Both in size and in menu. It now offers sushi at small town PA prices. The sushi is pretty good, better than ok. The American style chinese food has also taken a step up. Tofu prep has improved since I started coming here. Take out is often quick and prices for certain dishes area is higher than other Asian take out in the area. Dining in usually feels rushed, but I still come several times a month. This was my second time here, tried Chicken Pad Thai, delicious! We also had shrimp low mein, good prices, prepared quickly, peeked in kitchen and there were at least 7 working on mostly take outs. The one lady who works the counter needs a serious attitude adjustment! I picked up food on a Tuesday evening, there was no other customers waiting, and this woman (once she realized I was there waiting) made me feel like I was nothing more than an inconvenience. She greeted me with a cold "phone number?!", snatched the receipt out of my hand after i signed it, threw my receipt towards me, and ran off without even a thank you or you're welcome after I thanked her. This isn't the first time I was treated poorly here but this was definitely the worst. I won't be going there any more because I refuse to spend money to be a nuisance, which is a shame because the food is actually really good. read more

Finally stopped at the Jade Garden, so glad we did! We have been there twice now and both experiences were very nice. Love the wontons and boneless spare ribs! You can tell they care about what they serve because the plates always look beautiful. I know that sounds crazy. Haha. This is our local go to Chinese takeout. It's not the best and it's not the worst, middle of the road I'd say. It satisfies our Chinese craving just nothing to get overly excited about. It's a tie between this restaurant and "Chen's House" in Marietta, though I'm usually too lazy to drive all the way out there for some decent Chinese food. Very good food! Best local Chinese restaurant. I've had the General Tso's, Chicken and Brocolli and the pork egg rolls. All were very good with fresh ingredients. Service was fast and friendly. Servings were of a good portion size. I would say the egg rolls were some of the best I've had at a restaurant. Goid for take out or dine in. Definitely a local gem. Not sure it'd be worth traveling if I was coming from York or Lancaster. Definitely recommend to the locals. read more

First time trying take-away and had mixed results. Sesame chicken and hot and sour soup were typical take-out quality - fair. My husband did not like the Kung Pao chicken. However - the spare ribs were EXCELLENT!!! Meaty, tasty, high quality. Customer service for the phone call in and pick-up was very good, polite, attentive and quick. Very poor customer service. We were one of only two tables. When my wife who is allergic to gluten asked if the wraps were made of rice or flour the server rolled his eyes at her and said flour in an exasperated voice.
