    Pork and shepherd's purse bun

OMG, you have to try this restaurant! This restaurant is very unassuming but dang...you have to give a try. If I am able to eat more, I would have ordered a lot more dishes to try. But for today, I ordered 1. Appetizer/ cold dish = spicy three delicacies (麻辣三拼) It has shredded pig ears, beef tripe, and pork tripe along with cilantro, shredded cucumber and ...I forgot. It's a good spicy dish to open up your appetite. 2. Noodle with minced pork / zha-jiang-mian (炸醬麵) First, I am glad they kept the noodle and veggies separate from the minced pork. For those who only eat veggies, you could have taken out your portion of noodle first . Once all mixed together, this is a good noodle dish, refreshing (because of all the veggie) and tasty (the minced pork is full of flavor). The portion is huge, which I really appreciate because with the leftover of #1 and this noodle...I made up my own dish (check out the picture ). 3. Vegetarian turnip pie (蘿蔔絲餡餅) I love turnip, and since I think I needed to have some veggies so I ordered this dish. This was delicious! Usually, the restaurant would over salt the shredded turnip to give it more taste: or else, ya know, too bland. But this restaurant did it just right. This was SOOO good, really. 4. Pork and shepherd's purse bun (豬肉齊菜包) Please don't ask why the vegetable is called a shepherd's purse, I have no clue. All I can say is I grew up with this veggie, i.e. filling for wonton soup...etc. Tell you the truth, I am not a bun person because of all the dough. BUT this bun, this restaurant changed me. The bun is SUPER soft, not dense. This is just like...eating cloud. And the filling? OMG, so flavourful and juicy. I am definitely coming back to try other dishes because I am certain they will be just as delicious!

One shrimp in a large bun and stuffed with leaks. Yes, 1 shrimp, because the shrimp is cut in half to make it looks like 2.

1 stars because everything I ate tasted like leaks. I guess, if you love leaks, then this place is great. Leaks for you, leaks for you, and leaks for everyone. Covid-19 must have hit this place hard, because this place has to skimp on meat and replaced everything with leaks. This place is more vegan than an oyster bar. Yes, oysters are vegan. Google it, it is debatable. Serious note tho, I don't recommend this place. You can order the cheapest item on the menu instead of ordering the most expensive item because it is all the same. Leaks for you, leaks for me, leaks for everyone. Not sure who is creating the menu, but the chef must love leaks. PS: Don't come hard if you are allergic to leaks, otherwise you will get dumpling wrappers and bread.

I got a variety of buns and dumplings togo. They offered several different types of fillings, pork or beef with different Chinese vegetables such as shepherd's purse, leek, daikon radish, cabbage, etc. You can get any of the fillings in the form of steamed buns, pan fried buns, boiled northern style dumpling, pot sticker, or western style layered pancake, I think the price was good especially since they are also offer a discount. I was unaccustomed to the filling, which was too salty across the board. My family is from Southern China and I prefer the fillings to have just a dash of sugar to enhance the savoriness and mellow out the saltiness.

Ordered take out. They have a variety of food and the price was reasonable. Tried a little bit of everything; buns, dumplings, pancake. Everything was freshly made and delicious! The skins/wraps were not too thick nor thin with a bit of chewiness. The fillings were juicy and savory. Id be back for more!

Authentic & Delicious. If you like dumplings or buns, this is one of the best in all of Los Angeles IMO. The restaurant isn't much to look at and service is mediocre at best. However, the reason you come here is to eat the freshly made buns and this place has plenty of delicious flavors to choose from. Highly recommend!

Really good fresh made dumplings! They sell frozen to go dumplings too. The dumplings and the pies are freshly made and cooked to order. They come out piping hot, so be careful not to taste too quickly like I did and almost burned my tongue!!! Definitely would come back. The beef noodle soup was delicious too!

Hidden Gem in Alhambra - Finally Tried It After 4 Years of Driving By!…read more I've lived in Alhambra for the last 4 years and drove past this place almost every day, always assuming it was just another hot pot spot. It never looked super busy, so I kept putting it off. Big mistake--don't let that happen to you like it did to me! We finally went in and ordered a bunch: the Spicy Beef Shank Rice Noodle, Rattan Pepper Sliced Beef Rice Noodle, Popcorn Chicken, Sesame Balls, Popping Brown Sugar Rice Cake, Fried Milk Rolls, and Fried Taro Balls. Everything was outstanding. The noodles were amazing--fresh, chewy, with high-quality ingredients you can really taste in every bite. The broths had that perfect spicy kick without being overwhelming, and the beef was super tender. My wife and I couldn't stop eating; literally everything we tried was delicious. She especially loved the Fried Taro Balls--they were crispy outside, soft and flavorful inside. The sides/snacks were all hits too: the Popcorn Chicken was perfectly seasoned and crispy, the Sesame Balls and Popping Brown Sugar Rice Cake brought great texture and sweetness, and the Fried Milk Rolls were a fun surprise. Service was top-notch--shoutout to Icey, who took such great care of us. One of the best and most attentive experiences we've had in a while. If you're in Alhambra and love good food, do yourself a favor and stop in. You won't go wrong here--highly recommend! 5 stars all the way.

The only downside is they don't have their AC on during the summer. I remember one time I was sweating while eating and it was very uncomfortable.

Fantastic hole in the wall restaurant with some really delicious handmade dumplings and beef noodle…read moresoup! While it is a small place, the ambiance was great. The service was quick and our waitress was very sweet. Heads up though, our waitress only spoke Mandarin so communication with English got lost in translation, but nothing translation apps can't fix plus the owner speaks English too. The owner also came out to talk with us and we had a lovely conversation. You also can get candy when you ask for the check, which was a sweet surprise! We ordered both and the beef noodle soup was a little spicy but if you enjoy spicy food, it will not feel spicy at all. It also uses handmade noodles, which gave a nice chew and bounce, and the beef was so tender and not fatty yet still so flavorful. The egg is fried and was delicious. Apparently they also offer a side of pickled cabbage, but we finished the noodles real quick before receiving it, so I recommend asking for some. Totally recommend ordering their beef noodle soup. Then, the star of the show was the dumplings in my opinion. They weren't kidding when they said it is handmade juicy dumplings because it was pouring juice when you bite into it. We ordered the pork and pickled cabbage dumplings, and while we ordered one at first, it was so delicious that we ordered a second serving. The pickled cabbage offered a nice salty and kind of sour crunch that pairs well with the juicy and well seasoned pork. The sauce paired with the dumplings was perfect and not spicy at all, despite appearances. It was a bit tangy which also helps cut through the richness of the dumpling filling. Genuinely one of the best dumplings I ever had, and while these are boiled/steamed, you can ask for pan fry as the owner said! If you're ever unsure about what to order here, you MUST order the dumplings. I totally recommend people to come over here and try out their food! They specialize in Dong Bei food, which is Northeast China.
