My friend was right when he said this is the latest noodle hype in Berkeley. We arrived shortly after 5pm, grabbed one of the last tables, and then within 30 minutes there was a line out the door. The ordering experience through Snackpass is not great, but service is fast. We ordered several items and found them all to be exceptional. Lamb brisket noodles - brisket is braised and perfectly tender, daikon is refreshing and still retains a little bite, and noodles are nice and chewy. Lamb broth was delicious and just a little spicy, not gamey at all. Definitely can add more of their fragrant chili oil if you prefer it more spicy. Great portions! Lamb skewers - 4 skewers, classic Western Chinese flavors of lamb with cumin and spice. Fried chicken wings - crispy on the outside, seasoned throughout and super juicy. Wontons with chili oil - thin skin and bouncy filling with a classic chili oil and vinegar-based sauce. Probably one of the better versions of this dish that I've had in the States. Definitely would visit again, but need to make sure to arrive right when they open to avoid longer lines! read more

Been here quite a few times and it really is a great place to have a delicious noodle meal. The line is often long because it's in the heart of Berkeley campus, but it's also a sign that this place is popular. There are certainly hits but also misses. Hits: Their noodle soups are so worth it and portion size is great. Their lamb, beef, beef brisket, lamb brisket soups with thick noodles are really good. Thick noodles are bouncy and firm. Sometimes the broth can be too salty though. Their lo mein with beef brisket is also good and the wide thin noodles are chewy and nice. It can be done without all the raw vegetables on it. **However I did noticed my most recent bowl of beef in "clear" broth, the broth color is dark like they used soy sauce in it to make it more flavorful. It's no longer clear or a light color like what it was before. The soup is also too salty. If this is a new recipe, it's not as good as what it used to be. Misses: Their lamb skewers are overcooked and dry. The Singaporean noodles are way WAY TOO SALTY and the House chow fun is SO SALTY too. If only the chef isn't so heavy handed with the seasoning and salt on these stir fried dishes, we would be ordering these nonstop. The wok hay is great, but the dishes are way too salty to enjoy. hands down the best chinese noodle spot close to campus. noodle dynasty opened less than a year ago, but almost all of my friends agree that it is their favorite restaurant in berkeley. perhaps this could be due to the fact that berkeley doesn't have the greatest selection of chinese food to choose from, but i'd honestly put noodle dynasty's food on par with some of the best chinese noodle spots in south bay. while the restaurant is nicely decorated, it's pretty small and always busy because of how popular it is, so it feels a little cramped and there's usually a line out the door. however, service is really efficient, so the wait isn't too bad. ok food review time: s-tier: wonton and beef brisket lo mien: as a dry noodle and wonton fanatic, this dish combines the best of both worlds. it's basically noodle dynasty's signature thick, chewy noodles in a spicy, savory sauce topped with wontons and the super tender and flavorful beef brisket that they stew in their soup. i absolutely adore the balance of flavors in this dish and love how the portion is huge, so you're guaranteed to be full after eating it. (or if you want to split it into two meals, the fact that it's a dry noodle makes it easier to pack away.) beef brisket noodle soup: i don't normally like noodle soups that much, but the broth is just so flavorful and compliments the chewy noodles so well that i can't resist this dish on a cold day. it's super comforting and packed with tasty chunks of meat to make for a filling and balanced meal. a-tier: chili oil wontons: probably the best chili oil wontons in berkeley, though i will say that ive had better at some other restaurants in south bay. the wontons are super flavorful and are tossed in an ample amount of chili oil. my only complaint is im pretty sure the wontons are just pork, and they would've been even better if they had some shrimp inside. b-tier: lamb noodle soup: in my opinion, the lamb noodle soup is nowhere near as good as the beef one. they use the same broth just with different proteins i'm pretty sure, but the lamb just isn't as tasty as the beef, and i found it to be a little too far on the fatty side. cucumber salad: just your standard cucumber salad, nothing too special. really refreshing if you eat it with the noodles, though! overall, noodle dynasty quickly becoming a berkeley classic, and for good reason. hope the hype never dies down because this place deserves it! :) read more

Delicious, authentic noodles, but be prepared for a wait! I arrived at 5:30 PM and waited for about an hour before getting seated. There are essentially multiple "rounds" of seating -- you arrive in time for the first wave; otherwise, you wait a similar amount of time if you're in the second wave (regardless of whether you're 8th or 13th in line). If you want your food as soon as possible, it's best to order in advance on Snackpass. I ordered the Lamb Noodle Soup in 8-Hour Cooked Broth. It was so good, filled with plenty of noodles and fresh broth. It looked like a lot of people had leftovers, but if you're hungry, you can definitely finish the noodles in one sitting. There are a handful of appetizers and rice bowls as well. I'll likely be back, but I'll be more strategic in terms of when I wait in line. I honestly really wanted to love this place. Cozy interior with beautiful decor, there is a lot to appreciate and take in during a mildly long wait (lunch hours). This place was supposed to be very convenient because it is snackpass friendly and waiting friendly. But I think this is precisely where things started going wrong for me... Famished from studying and beaten down by the rain, a bowl of noodles from noodle dynasty sounded like the perfect recipe to cheer the heart. After ordering, however, to my dismay I watched everyone around me get food except for myself... it wasnt until around 40 minutes in where I had to ask the waitress and then my order was finally addressed. I am not faulting the waitress, but rather the lack of communication imbedded in this new system that seemed to incorporate too much for them to handle. The noodles were good and the soup was alright. I would not order "spicy" not because it is actually spicy, but rather because it just leaves a thick layer of oil that makes the eating experience less enjoyable. It also straight up didnt make me feel the best afterwards. While I absolutely would come back, I would like to first see this place be more reliable, fixing whatever back end issue they may seem to be having that may have caused this mishap. read more
