After a good day of hiking in Berkeley, I've decided to be a tourist around the area since I'm originally from Manteca, Ca. Walked around the University area and wanted something I haven't tried before. Finally I stumbled onto Noodle Dynasty. Never had fresh pulled noodles before and plus the atmosphere was welcoming. Restaurant was packed and servers were very attentive and friendly. The dining area is small but it had so much character, you kinda forget about it. I ordered through a tablet where I ordered and paid first. Refreshments were a plenty with my own pitcher of water! I ordered the house special noodles with bone ribs, spicy, and also the cucumber salad. Both were amazing!! The cucumber was worth the $7.99 since they use large portions of high quality cucumbers. The broth of the noodle soup was amazing also! Never, have I had Chinese inspired noodle soups like this before. It was rich and deep with flavor. The dried peppers and the nuts gave it a good texture and you can taste the freshness of the noodles. The bone on Ribs were so tender and they gave a generous amount. So perfect! All in all, I totally recommend this spot! I don't know any spot in the San Joaquin county that even comes close to this. Great job!

This is literally my favorite restaurant in southside Berkeley. I can't even count the number of times I've been but it's the craving I always had after a long day of classes, or a night out, solo dinner, anything and everything. My go-tos are the bone-in beef noodle soup and the fish and pickled cabbage noodle soup. The cucumber appetizer is also really good here.

Our youngest daughter has been telling us to dine at Noodle Dynasty for the past couple of years. Each time we visited her at Cal, we ended up not going because the line happened to be too long when we were there on the weekend in the evening. We finally had the chance to try their noodles this time around and ordered both the regular and spicy noodle soups, all came with the gigantic pork ribs. They also came in large bowls. The meat was tender and the soup was rich and flavorful. The thin noodles were good as well. Overall, the service was great and the order came in fast. The pricing was also affordable. So far, this might be the best place to have an authentic noodle house close to the school. We'll certainly stop by again the next time we are in town.

4+ stars $16+t Beef Noodle Soup (thin option): a Lanzhou pulled noodle soup with green onions and sesame seeds added as default. Absolutely lovely but has a mild sourness to it. $13+tx House Wonton in chili: I'm seriously enjoying these homemade wontons.

Noodle Dynasty opened 3 years ago where Thai Noodle 2 was. Infrastructure, seating similar with a slight change of decorations. They opened 15 minutes early on Mother's Day. Inside seating only. Waited to be seated per notice. Given a tablet to order on. I didn't know how to turn it on. Associate did so. Staff spoke Mandarin, Cantonese & English. Ordered on tablet, paid. Got water soon without a cup. It arrived minutes later. Soup came within 10 minutes. After soup came, no check-ins. Offerings (Chinese): appetizers, lo mein, noodle soup, specialty stir fries, soup, stir fries... Slurps: lamb noodle soup in 8-hour broth (16.99) - boiling hot broth had savory unami. - overcooked, slightly mushy thin noodles mixed with boiled radish slices, sesame seeds, cilantro, green onions. No veggies Semi-tasty lamb slices. -pretty good. Not wowed. Many new Chinese noodle shops have opened in Berkeley in the past year. 4 ish stars. Service: wham bam! Thank U ma'am/man. None after bringing entree. Quality: reasonable. Quantity: ingredients skimpy. May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

This place caught our eyes every time we walk around Berkeley so we finally decided to give it a try. Parking can be a bit difficult but it is alright if you're willing to walk a bit. It's a small place so line can be long. We were here on a Thursday evening so there wasn't a line. We ordered 2 bowls of noodle soup - 1. Pickled cabbage and fish filled noodle soup 2. Beef noodle soup. SO GOOD!!!! The portion size is worth the price.

One of the best spots for noodle soup in the Bay Area. I've tried coming here on 3 different accounts and the line was always too long to fit my agenda. After the long anticipation, I was able block off my calendar and finally try this place on a Friday night. We had a part of 7 and it was more challenging to find a table to fit all of us. Especially with the wait, I would recommend coming here with parties of 4-5 max. The restaurant was mainly filled with students from the nearby college so it's very lively and packed. Usually when my anticipation is high, my expectations are higher and I'm usually disappointed but this did not disappoint!! The broth was so flavorful and the noodles had the perfect consistency of bounce and chew. The meats were tender and on top of that, the portions are huge and very reasonably priced! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but highly recommend the House Special Beef Rib Noodle Soup if it's your first time.

Came here on a Sunday evening at 7:00pm, the line was long but it moved pretty quick and we got seated in around 20-30 mins for party of 2. We ordered the beef noodle soup with the 8‑hour broth, the pickled cabbage and fish fillet noodle soup, and a cucumber appetizer. Everything was really tasty, both noodle soups hit the spot with generous portion. The cucumber was refreshing with balanced sesame seasoning. Definitely a place we'd come back to just to try more things on the menu. Highlights for me: The daikon in the beef noodle soup is so soft and flavorful and the portion of noodles they give you. We got the non‑spicy broth with thin noodles, which ended up being super similar to the noodles in the pickled cabbage and fish fillet soup. The pickled cabbage in other bowl gives this extra kick that makes it stand out.

Always wanted to try this place but have been deterred by the usually long lines whenever I went by. Finally on a Saturday we showed up around 11:40 am before they open at noon. There were already 8 people in the line. Fortunately the staff start seating earlier and we got a table. By the time the restaurant officially opened at noon, the place was just about full already. We ordered and paid through the tablet, and we went with the beef rib noodle soup, beef brisket noodle soup, lamp rack noodle soup, and sesame peanut butter noodle. When the beef rib noodle soup came, I realized the hype is real. It was an impressive sight. The bowl was low brimmed and wide to accommodate the huge beef rib. The portion was large. Already I knew none of us would finish our noodles. The 24 hour broth was really rich and aromatic. The spicy broth was really spicy while the low spicy broth was milder. In retrospect I should have just select the low spicy option. The 3 noodle soups appeared to have the same type of broth. The meats were all tender, even the beef briskets. We were all happily slurping away at our noodle soups until we were so full we couldn't go further and ask for to-go container. I was kind of glad my daughter ordered the only non soup-noodle dish in our party. The sesame peanut butter noodle was actually quite tasty. You just need to be sure mix the ingredients well. When we left the restaurant there was a long line outside the restaurant. We are so glad we came early!

2.5/5. The beef rib noodle soup was way too oily. The wonton noodle soup was pretty bland and could definitely use more flavor. The potstickers were okay, but nothing special.

Well, I've been sleeping on this spot. Mostly because I have kids who don't eat anything, but this recent expedition was a success. I was feeling under the weather and needed hot brothy soup and this place delivered (in this sense metaphorically, as I dined in). While I went with the wonton soup with noodle, and I wouldn't order it again, it was delicious and plentiful at $20 - easily two meals for a lighter eater. However, I think there was opportunity for a more flavorful option. The brisket here is so great. My kids got the sesame noodles plain and the regular noodles with brisket, bot without soup. And while the sesame noodles were solid, the brisket was delicious. Show stealing. The fried doughnut/bread balls with condensed milk were delicious and the potstickers were solid. There is a perpetual line, but it goes quickly. You order everything at once via the ipad and they drop it off at your table. Fast casual eats, big portions, mid prices (everything is about $17-$20)... I see why college kids flock here.

Visited this noodle shop bc my daughter's feed kept suggesting this place & it truly is a gem in the Telegraph area. While the appeal is for UC students, it is equally appealing to me bc of the reasonable price point & generous portions. The only frustrating part of this experience was the waiter kept calling singles or double patrons, meanwhile an hr. & 15 min.pass & I'm still waiting in line. I was almost going to divide my group of 4 into doubles if he called another time for double patrons. So my advice is to either go alone or with 1 friend. Orders: Appetizer-Lamb Skewers(4) $10.99 a bold cumin, chili powder & salt seasoning makes this a perfect appetizer to my noodle dish. The meat was pretty tender as well so for me it is a must order item. Beef Noodle Soup in 8 hr.Broth-you have the option of choosing either Thick/Thin/Rice noodles, we decided on Thin noodles & it was perfect. You can also choose your Spice Level between Spicy or Non-Spicy. Since Spicy foods are too intense for me at this Sichuan restaurant, I decided on a Non-spicy soup base. The sizable bowl easily accommodated me & my daughter. The soup was amazingly filled w/so much flavor from the 8 hr.cooking that if I was famished, I could see myself eating the entire bowl by myself. The slices of beef were tender, so I was a very happy camper. This would be my go to order if I were by myself. House Special Beef Rib 24 hr.Slow Cooked- both the noodle & spice level options were available so it was thin noodles w/no spicy component. Since the beef & broth were cooked for a day, the meat practically fell off the bone. The clear comforting flavors of the broth really soothed our souls & palate. On a wet & rainy day, Noodle Dynasty really warms the soul, heart & stomach!

Love this place! One of the few places left that will give you good food fast at a decent price. I've tried the fish soup and their classic soup. Both are great. The portions are also quite generous. It's no wonder they are always full! Beware of the line at dinner rush. Service is quick. The place is clean, perhaps a bit small but not that cramped.

When I first heard of Great China, I assumed it would be more of a casual neighborhood mom-and-pop…read morespot, but I was definitely wrong. It's actually a popular, higher-end Chinese restaurant in downtown Berkeley, and judging by the number of people waiting to be seated on a weekend only 30 minutes after opening, it clearly does very well. One note: I often see long weekend lines forming even before opening, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation or arriving early. We came here with one thing in mind: Peking duck. It was prepared beautifully, with the exact nostalgic flavor and crispy skin I was hoping for. I also loved the way they presented the thin pancakes--half-folded and slightly overlapping each other--so you didn't have to worry about peeling each layer apart and accidentally ripping them. The dipping sauce and green onions were provided on the side, though I do wish they included thinly sliced cucumber to complete the experience. My husband also ordered the fish, which turned out soft, delicate, and delicious. It was a nice complement to the duck and rounded out the meal really well. My only real critique of Great China is the pricing. You're definitely paying a premium here, but the food does taste authentic and well-executed. Given the limited competition in the area, I can see why it feels justifiable if you live nearby. That said, it may not be as worth the splurge for people who already have easy access to more traditional, old-school Chinese restaurants.

I thought everything was solid top to bottom, but here is my ranking in descending order: Braised Eggplant Tofu Clay Pot - I generally like this dish everywhere and they have a good version on this here - seasoned well, tender eggplant, and nice texture on the tofu Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings - non-traditional "salt & pepper" - thick coating of tempura-like batter, very peppery (black pepper), and wings set on a bed of sauteed onions. Sesame Bread with Green Onion - tasty, but unlike other "da bing" I've had. This was on the thin side, meaning you have a lot more crispy outside compared fluffy inside. This was also lighter on the green onion. Classic Shrimp & Chive Dumpling - can't go wrong with dumplings - an order comes with 12 dumplings, each filled with big pieces of shrimp. I liked the texture but it is a little different - looser filling instead of a solid meat/veg ball on the inside. Original Braised Pork Noodle Soup - I liked the flavor of the soup and noodles. There was a ton of meat (diced) but they were on the tough side.

They also now have some special dim sum items if it's been a minute since the last time you've dined here! Did I mention also a full bar? That was a pleasant surprise! China Village was the first meal I had delivered after I came home post-birth, so it will forever have a special place in my heart :) Favorite items? Pork bao buns, Sesame Chicken Breast (always), Homemade Chowmein with any protein, and there's a dish that I've been thinking about since we've ordered it..Shredded Pork Sautéed with Dry Bean Curd. Delicious! The fried rice, the soup(s), the potstickers..there's not one item here I haven't enjoyed. This is a big restaurant and service is fast, or at least what we've experienced. Would love to actually try the Chicken Breast with Honey Glazed Walnuts, the Cauliflower with Shredded Pork, and more from the dim sum menu. Fair pricing. Metered parking on Solano, but may take a few additional minutes to secure.
