VERY DISAPPOINTING The waitress was not nice at all. She never smiled when the customers came in. She seemed she didn't want to work but was being forced or something. We ordered two different phos. My fiancee ordered rare beef pho, which had no flavor. It had plenty of meat though. I ordered combination pho that had rare beef, meatballs, and chicken. The chicken was the problem. It added very yucky smell to the soup, and it was disgusting. My last and big problem was another. We ordered phos with NO cilantro because we can't tolerate the taste. We ordered spring rolls with boiled shrimp. Thw waitress didn't tell us that there would be cilantro in the rolls. It wasn't written on the menu either. Wouldn't one think that if they were specifically asked not to include cilantro in one of the foods, they do not like cilantro? They didn't even confirm! Truly disappointing. The food here is really outstanding. Found the place thanks to a co worker..it's in an area which doesn't really scream "awesome dining here" but it really is amazing. The only downside is it's pretty small , probably fits 12 comfortably. Worth the wait though. Take out if you're in a crunch. read more

Just the other day, my girlfriend brought me here. I'm so glad she did! She had been describing it as the best little place with eight seats... I didn't know what to make of that, but they sold Vietnamese food. I knew I would like something, because I love a lot of Asian food, and not just "Americanized" Panda Express stuff. Interesting to enter the place, literally just a bar with rougly eight seats! No tables, no booths, just the bar. I kinda liked that! After seating ourselves, we got some barbeque chicken spring rolls to start with, and they were delicious (and on the specials menu on the wall). Then, I ordered some fried rice and beef with oyster sauce. I was a little worried about what oyster sauce would taste like, never having tasted it before. But, it was excellent! Oh my goddd, it was excellent. They added some garlic spices to it as well (yay!). I had Thai iced tea there to boot, one of my favorite beverages. Our waitress was kind, too, and we struck up an ongoing conversation with her. Very pleasant atmosphere there. Would definitely come here again. It is a great place for above average Vietnamese take out food, especially since Chopstix next door hasn't been very consistent and food quality had gone down over the year. It is nice to have a decent Vietnamese restaurant in Seaside to get your fix when you crave it, since good Vietnamese food is hard to find in this area. With that said, be warned, this is a very small location with very limited seating area. It can seat up to no more than a handful of people. So most people like myself will just order to go. Tried the fried rice the last time that I went. Was extremely disappointed as it was bland and completely void of real flavor. They only take cash and one has to wonder why, could it be that they're only reporting 75 cents on the dollar or do they just not make enough of a profit to offset the small CC/Debit card fees? To use their ATM, I'm positive they get a cut of that and since it doesn't belong to my bank, I'm not going to pay $2 to $3 to use it. We don't carry cash anymore so we have stopped going to the Noodle Bar after the last visit was so poor. Everywhere else that we go in town to eat takes credit/debit cards, even if you have to order a softdrink so that you're order is $10 or more. just not Noodle Bar for some reason. The price per quantity is great, however the quality and flavor not great, nor even good in my opinion. This one of those proverbial hole in the wall places (and I have found some fantastic hole in the wall restaurants, (like Jims chinese in the same city) so don't expect to go at lunch time and get a seat at the Noodle bar (bar seating is the only seating at the Noodle Bar restaurant) without a healthy wait time as there is only about 10 to 12 counter seats. And if you go with more than yourself you may be waiting a really long time to get multiple stools to open up so that you can sit together. It is a popular restaurant (at lunch anyway, as I've never tried outside of lunch hour) so I don't imagine they feel the need to increase sanitation of the restaurant (sticky everything when I sat in for lunch) nor the need to accept debit/credit cards, nor to improve on their staff's friendliness, it's always felt as if they couldn't be bothered to take my order unlike some other Asian restaurants in town that will greet it's customers by name. I honestly can't understand how I can love hole in the wall restaurants but dislike this place so much when there is so much praise for it on Yelp, it baffles me how anybody could tolerate sticky counters and seats and dirty floors, unless maybe it's simply because they can get out with a full belly for -/+ $6.00, which may very well put a plus on that lunch for some. Personally I'd rather spend an extra $4.00 and get something at least decent somewhere else in town. However in this area, average lunches are about $10 for something okay to decent, so people may flock to the Noodle Bar to save teh $4.00 over what most other restaurants in Seaside charge for lunch. And in all fairness, I do have at least 2 co-workers that love it and go there a few times a month. read more

If you are looking for chow fun, do not order it here. They have it backwards and call it chow mein and vice versa. The food was ok for the price. With that being said the "Chow fun" which is actually chow mein, is very lack luster and literally feels as though they warmed up top ramen and threw it into the dish. We ordered the grilled shrimp spring rolls but they seemed as though they were boiled as there were no signs of grilling whatsoever. The Spicy wings were poorly breaded but tasted decent. The service was not great after they messed up three times in one sitting. When we asked for the dishes to be fixed our server completely neglected us. My go-to place in the seaside/monterey area. The downsides: the pho broth is a bit dark/not quite as clean as I like, there isn't much space and it's cash only. If you can get past these few shortcomings, then this is a great spot to come. No hassle or fuss, just come, eat, pay and leave with a satisfied stomach and a fat wallet. Been a long time resident of Monterey Bay and always love going to my favorite restaurants in between working jobs in other cities/states. That said- my experience yesterday led me to believe Noodle Bar- Seaside will no longer include this dining favorites ensemble. As the tiny location only seats about a dozen, I made an order of traditional beef pho, chicken pho, shrimp eggrolls and honey milk tea boba to go. I realize the take-out version can detract quality but I don't think there was much saving it. The broth was tasteless and bland, the meat was tough and somehow slimy and nothing I added to it seemed to salvage it. The shrimp eggrolls were ok, but again bland and didn't include any veggie inside, and the boba was overly sweetened and packed with ice so there wasn't a lot of drink to be had. Overall not impressed. 2/5 for pricing and timeliness I suppose. Sad face! read more

Although I'm not a fan of their Pina Colada as I was semi-misinformed on how it was made, I thought there was real fruit... silly me. We both had a bowl of Rare Beef Pho, we asked for the meat on the side but they forgot, no biggie. I just like to cook my own meat when I eat my pho. Topped with a lot of Cock Sauce aka Siracha, a dash of Hoisin and a couple spoonfuls of the Chili Oil (I'm pretty sure they concoct it there - very nice). Spicy and hot just they way I like most things in life... And no meal is complete here without starting with the Spicy Chicken Wings. Love Noodle Bar and my friend was a fan of the pho too and she and I both used to live in the city (San Francisco) and we used to frequent the popular Golden Star as well as "Pho Hop" in Denver, yes there are tons of pho serving joints in Denvy as we call it on Federal Street... so we like to think we have pretty high pho standards.
