This was an amazing meal, don't pass this over for Pujol or Quintonil! It's a nondescript entrance so it gives you the vibe of a speakeasy, which I love. Once you find it, you'll enter into a small dining room that consists of only about 12 seats max. That's how intimate this meal is! Lighting was ambient, and they were playing Michael Buble over the speakers - how perfect. Sebastian, the sommelier, will lead you through the meal and present each dish. There are two chefs that cook/plate the dishes.
Honestly every dish was beautifully presented and tasted great, with the exception of a lost opportunity on their first dish / amuse bouche. I think they do include a lot of asian influences in their food, but it was super strange to start the meal with a nigiri. Not that it was bad, but it was not special nor great and definitely as not better than what you could get at a real Japanese/omakase restaurant. It had shavings of miso and foie gras on it but I couldn't really taste it.
Rest of the dishes were scrumptious. Some of my favorites were the mushroom and bone marrow sope (loved seeing some Mexican dishes in the menu with a twist with the bone marrow), scallops (SO tender, cooked to perfection), truffle and foie gras waffle (!! omg this was freakin' amazing). These were all well executed dishes that were unique in the combination of flavors. The wine pairings were also A+, it was like drinking wine with a bunch of friends haha. Non stop pours. We were planning to go out afterwards for drinks but honestly couldn't take much more haha!
I also can't believe the cost of this experience - WITH wine pairings, this was only $130, which is much less than other Michelin and/or tasting menu restaurants. This is a fantastic experience and perfect for a celebration. SO worth it!!! read more
