A really great selection of all kinds of books, music, video games, and more! Everything here is community-based, with the exception of selections here and there that are brand-new. So a nice way to support buying secondhand items from Phoenix folks, being more sustainable and supporting a smaller business, and overall just a good spot to come explore! I've found lots of cool vintage magazines, vintage video games, some vinyls, and a number of books here on 19th. I definitely recommend this location!

How haven't a written a review of this place!…read more I love an establishment that presents itself as a home for the community. I walk in to Bookman's and often find displays that are Arizona focused in a way that makes you feel and know this place is home town friendly. No big box impersonal feels here! I frequent this store and stop in just because I'm passing by. As an avid reader, I read about 50 books a year, Bookman's is a great place to buy paper books at a cheaper price. My favorite part about local shops like Bookman's is how they don't shy away from displaying banned books all year long! I have to read at least one banned books a month! There's gotta be something in the banned books they don't want us to know and I'm determined to read as many as possible. Interestingly enough, this store is full of "entertainment treasures" too. Music, musical instruments and even gaming equipment can be purchased here. The only thing missing is a social lounge with a coffee bar. We'd probably go even more often if there were a coffee bar inside. Return Factor: 100%

Recommend: 100%. They're currently breaking sales records since June!…read more Presentation: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Efficiency: 5/5 Customer Service: 5/5 Price: N/A First B&N I've been to in years. Truly, this particular store is doing it correctly and the sales on this store are showing the proof. The only negative I'll present is the dysfunctional escalators. Neither worked. Being disabled, you're faced with the stairs in the meantime. Walking in, the visual presentation was colorful and entirely full of books, bestsellers and even an 'AZ' section which I admire for those coming in and wanting 'state' specific so that was a nice touch! The front checkout was fully-filled with numerous sales staff ready to go. The line moved quickly for checkout. I inquired about a couple of particular books and was led, instead of being told (which I think is more professional!) straight to the exact location. The store is amply filled with thousands of books, all very beautifully presented, cabinets have dedicated under lighting and a cafe and restroom upstairs across from a generous children's section. The store, minus the inoperative escalators was a beautiful store, very clean and room enough to get around with optional seating and of course a cafe! Love the build of this store, its inviting lighting and various items from Legos to small miscellaneous item such as Bible Book index tabs and ball caps. The store is very well designed and decorated. The only thing I'd offer to note, no one asked me about any Membership 'sales', in addition, I wasn't even asked if I had a B&N account or if I had ANY discounts, or senior citizens/AARP/military potential discounts; nothing. Being that this city is heavily presenced by both metrics, no communication was presented on this visit. Small thing but again, every other business promotes an 'Awards' program of some sorts but my particular visit, nothing was communicated. Nonetheless, this is a beautiful store and certainly recommend it.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this B&N and while I am sad that all the Forever 21s are now bankrupt, I'm glad there is a business in this location. This is a 2 story B&N and I was able to find all the books I was looking for and then some! I deducted one star because their escalators were not working and they only had one set of escalators you could walk up and down on. This made for some traffic. My other reason is for closing at 7pm on a Sunday. I know thats already one hour extra than the mall, but come on here, youre a bookstore, you could at least keep it open until 8pm?! I guess I am used to big city hours so that was kind of annoying. Otherwise, a really great B&N! They have an upstairs coffee shop and tons of people parked in here, reading, working, etc. Bathrooms also available, not as clean as the rest of Phoenix public bathrooms, but it wasnt gross like big city public bathrooms. Those are super yucky. I'd definitely come back here again when I need to find a book!

When we arrived, I realized I remembered this spot from when I was a kid, I just hadn't been back since I was younger. This spot is absolutely STUFFED with books, comic books, VHS tapes and more. You could spend quite a long time wandering around looking at all of the books they have to offer. It can be slightly overwhelming especially if you are looking for something specific as there wasn't really any clear guidance on where to find certain sections. We still had a lot of fun though wandering around and seeing what we could find. If you are looking for the prices, they are written in pencil on the inside of the books. You can find a mixture of mostly used books along with some new books. They have a cute shop cat that you can sometimes spot wandering around, or asleep at the front. The woman who was working the register the day we visited was friendly! They also had a cart out-front with a number of books that were free to grab. There is plenty of parking out-front.

Once I was got to the store, I had to explore. I think that if one were to regularly visit Books, he/she would find some rare editions and other gems. Also, they had what looked like reproductions of banned book announcements posted around the store: all were of classic novels that we can't imagine not having access to as students. (See photos: Charlotte's Web, Huck Finn, Fahrenheit 451...) They were quite entertaining, in a disturbing way. They had the effect of making me feel so grateful that past efforts of censorship in the US had failed. In 2024, this is still a real threat. Tiny stores like this one are real treasures. Let's keep them in business.

Back when it was on Scottsdale Road, I…read morewandered in and basically fell headfirst into crystals, incense, and candles like some kind of spiritual Alice in Wonderland. It was my first real intro to this world, and honestly, it launched me into the practices that are now just... my life. So yes, Vision Quest and I go way back. Then, like any long-term relationship, the shine wore off. I started hearing whispers in school about them not clearing the space, and once I noticed it myself, the vibe felt a little off. Combine that with discovering other shops that had better prices and fresh energy? Yeah, I strayed. Cut to tonight: my go-to WooWoo dealer (aka my favorite candle spot) was CLOSED. Dire situation. My altar was looking at me like, "You really gonna let me go dark?" So, I dragged myself over to Vision Quest. And you know what? The whole vibe felt different... lighter, fresher, like someone saged the place within an inch of its life. I actually caught myself thinking, "Wait, why did I stop coming here again?" Candles acquired. Yes, they were a whopping 50¢ instead of my usual 30¢ (so, call me thrifty), and the wax felt like it came from a slightly less fancy bee or paraffin farm. But in an emergency? Totally did the job. And so, Vision Quest is like that ex you bump into years later and think, "Huh... maybe they got their act together." I may not be back every week, but I'm definitely glad it's still around when the WooWoo emergencies hit.
