I have a long history with Vision Quest Metaphysical Bookstore. Maybe since 1997. I wrote a Yelp review for this store years ago but maybe 40% of my older reviews just disappeared from Yelp. I used to go to this bookstore when they were in Scottsdale on Thomas Road and Oak Streets. I make and sell metaphysical jewelry that I design mostly necklaces from semi-precious stones for healing and well-being. I used to consign my jewelry at the Scottsdale store and everything sold within 3 months. It was so easy I just bring it there and then pick up my check later. But when Vision Quest moved to the Phoenix location, the clientele there was vastly different from Scottsdale and it's tourists, and Phoenecians didn't want to buy my jewelry at the $60 prices for necklaces that the store sold them for. Owner Apryl told me Phoenician customers bought candles and incense and got readings. So April didn't let me consign jewelry anymore as it would stay in the store unsold for a year. But I go to the Phoenix store now and get regular readings by psychic reader Toney He's very good and accurate in business matters. Sometimes I talk to him almost every week or two times a week. My life is very in need of direction right now I'm making big financial ventures which Toney advises me on. Apryl is a good reader too but the staff tells me she's not doing readings for store customers now. read more

Vision Quest was my gateway drug into all things WooWoo. Back when it was on Scottsdale Road, I wandered in and basically fell headfirst into crystals, incense, and candles like some kind of spiritual Alice in Wonderland. It was my first real intro to this world, and honestly, it launched me into the practices that are now just... my life. So yes, Vision Quest and I go way back. Then, like any long-term relationship, the shine wore off. I started hearing whispers in school about them not clearing the space, and once I noticed it myself, the vibe felt a little off. Combine that with discovering other shops that had better prices and fresh energy? Yeah, I strayed. Cut to tonight: my go-to WooWoo dealer (aka my favorite candle spot) was CLOSED. Dire situation. My altar was looking at me like, "You really gonna let me go dark?" So, I dragged myself over to Vision Quest. And you know what? The whole vibe felt different... lighter, fresher, like someone saged the place within an inch of its life. I actually caught myself thinking, "Wait, why did I stop coming here again?" Candles acquired. Yes, they were a whopping 50¢ instead of my usual 30¢ (so, call me thrifty), and the wax felt like it came from a slightly less fancy bee or paraffin farm. But in an emergency? Totally did the job. And so, Vision Quest is like that ex you bump into years later and think, "Huh... maybe they got their act together." I may not be back every week, but I'm definitely glad it's still around when the WooWoo emergencies hit. read more

Besides having a wide selection of goods, this is an interesting little metaphysical store that holds classes in the evenings. A range of classes will appeal to a surprisingly wide audience, not just "woo woo" type people. Classes are tucked away in a back corner of the store. I came here to find some stones for my photography and I was very impressed. I don't have anything to compare this to, but everyone in the store looked happy and seemed to be repeat customers. It was PACKED! They had a psychic fair so there were readers all over the store offering readings for $1/minute and were completely booked. I got a pyrite and fire & ice balls as well as a desert rose. So beautiful! read more

I have never had the pleasure of visiting this metaphysical bookstore in person; but I have definitely enjoyed my psychic readings here! I have been through some major stressful events these past few months in Chicago and called different readers up for their intuitive incite and to have a sounding board and empathetic ear. I started out taking readings with Nicole who I personally feel is the most gifted and naturally intuitive reader here. However unfortunately the last few times I requested her guidance the staff at the front reception desk lied to me and said she was sick and needed to go home early. On the 3rd day of trying to book her someone here was more honest and said Nicole doesn't want to read for me anymore because she doesn't think she can be impartial. I was so disappointed because I loved & valued her readings but it's her choice to refuse a customer so I was instead placed with Shelly who was happy to accommodate me. I've had readings with everyone here so I will run through the full list of available readers-- Shelly, Cassie, Robbie and Lars are wonderful So there you go...if you need a genuinely good psychic reading I recommend these wonderful people. This place is beyond amazing. It's such a great place to come for most anything spiritual. I come here I'd say 3 or more times a month. I've seen many Spiritual Souls here and I have had some great experience and some not. but I know they all mean well here. I at times feel that it is a little uncomfortable being out in the open with everyone else being able to hear your readings. plus I don't like that at times I'm picking up on everyone else's energy being so open like that and I'm unsure if my readings are always truly honest. not due to the spiritual worker but due to the amount of energy in the room. I will always come back here. I would up it to 5 starts if things were a little more private. they have everything you will need here. read more

I was in search of a replacement bracelet of a certain kind, found at most metaphysical stores. In my experience there's Phoenix Rising Now/7th Ave, Fantasia Crystals/7th St, and Vision Quest/Indian School. I was geographically closest to VQ so chose there. Their variety of the spiritual, astrological and metaphysical always impresses. Crystals/stones, incense, jewelry, reference books, and gorgeous tapestries flood the space. Unfortunately, they didn't have the kind of bracelet I was looking for but still love browsing & picked up some cone incense & the perfect bday card for a friend. The other biggest feature this location has is their psychics, mediums, tarot readers, etc - nine to be exact. These professionals' stations are set up all over the store: little tables with two chairs. As I wandered around the store, I could hear one psychic doing a reading for her client PLUS all the details. IMO, these are sacred/private exchanges of information, enlightenment & healing. Not having privacy for these sessions is a disconnect, Yes for shopping here but "No" for getting any type of personal reading. read more

Left annoyed and empty handed. Counter staff have an attitude, shady and inconsistent. There was a pair of wooden circular wall decorations that looked like either Mayan or Native American. They called out to me and I was seriously considering buying them. Priced at 2 for $50. There was a slight problem as the edge on one was scratched up a bit and the other had a spot also. Here's where it got annoying. I asked if there was another set, thinking they probably have another set boxed up. The sales associate said no it's a one of a kind the manager buys stuff from rock shows. I said I would not ask except due to the two issues with what I observed. She then says well I can't discount them and I can't ask the manager owner to do it either. I can call them and ask if she can order them. She said the marks are probably due to a customer not handling them with care. They were dusty and probably sat there for months....I immediately left as I thought you're full of bs. First you say they are one of a kind, then you state you may be able to order them. I left empty handed and due to the poor experience won't buy anything from here ever again. read more

Tried to get my first ever psychic/tarot reading and went with Kimberly. It was atrocious. I am a disabled abuse victim and was told that my parent's "gift" to me was to medically neglect me... She also told me that I chose my parents, I chose them knowing I'd be abused and neglected. I was disgusted quite frankly. I ended the session within 5 minutes because of how inappropriate I felt the reading was. She very obviously only pulled things from my physical appearance, I didn't give her much to work with, as I shouldn't have to. She also tried to tell me to do a Hawaiian forgiveness practice, she is white and Hawaiian indigenous practices are sacred and not meant for us. I am seething with anger after the 5 minutes I spent with her. read more

Eh. I told myself after being suckered by some "psychics" in the past I wouldn't visit any more. I went to the store pursuing singing bowls. They didn't have the notes I wanted nor much knowledge of singing bowls. As I wandered around I got a funky vibe of the psychics on the phones...it seemed like something out of a movie where the person paying the money is a bit of a joke. I ended up having a couple sessions with an older woman. I thought perhaps it would be a decent thing to check out because perhaps she might just have insight and perception based on life vs. psychic ability, and that for me still has value. First two visits ok. Third not cool. I could tell she was just repeating back to me what I'd said slightly differently to appear to "know" things. I wasn't seeking parlor tricks. I was hoping for some objective insight. Once that happened and she made a big show of knowing about my car- which is very loud and I parked near the front-I was really turned off. I also asked about a discount program, was told there wasn't one, then on 3rd visit saw stack of printouts there outlined one! I asked cashier who said there wasn't one. She had ignored it. Then told me my purchases didn't apply. When I read like two of the printout she realized she was 100% wrong. She first told me she'd do a discount in the future. Which was ridiculous. Then seemed to think a $5 discount was a huge windfall. I was due about $20 in refund. Not an astronomical amount, but if it's my $20 I'd rather keep it all the same! I think people and groups claiming to have psychic ability and who solicit money for it prey on others based on the implication that they know things others can't on their own. It's unethical. The lady I had 3 sessions with said I was as psychic as her. She's wrong. I can see the future better. And it will always involve scenarios like this. So this post is me giving anyone who reads it fair warning and knowledge. I just saved you a chunk of change! read more

First time coming in, since Fantasia was closed on Tuesday. Crystal selection and prices were fair, nice variety of incense, tons of books. Like others have said here, customer service was eh, but what really stood out to me about this place was the weird energy. Wasn't expecting that, especially for a fun crystal/magic shop. Hard to describe, just felt..icky, and low vibrating. All of their tarot readers' stations were out in the middle of the floor, so while shopping, I got to overhear pretty much everyone's reading. It was awkward. But the worst part was the fact that barely any of the 4-5 employees working knew how to wear their mask right. They didn't enforce customers wearing either, which was annoying. It's like they didn't care, or don't think COVID's a big deal. This is the middle of a global pandemic and they have the audacity to pull their masks down and walk/talk/sneeze (yes, one lady full sneezed and then pulled her mask back up, like wtf you're doing it wrong). I'd say masks were on correctly less than 50% of the time. If you care about your health and safety, and think crystal shopping should be fun, look elsewhere. read more

Love this great little store but after today I'll be finding a new crystal store. I was in today and was my service dog isn't allowed unless I have proof of her being a service dog such as her vest or her certificate of service. Do I have to show such things? "The quick answer is no. According to the ADA, employees at a business "are not allowed to request any documentation" for a service dog. The American Disability Act (ADA) prohibits both public and private businesses from discriminating against people with disabilities. In so doing, these businesses are required to allow people with disabilities to bring their service animals onto their premises wherever customers are allowed to go. Sometimes it is confusing if an animal is a pet or a service dog, and a business owner may wish to ask for documentation establishing that it is, indeed, a service dog. Is this legal? Absolutely. But that won't always help It's easy for business owners and patrons alike to be confused regarding an animal's "service" status, especially at businesses that have clear "No Pets" policies. After all, some, but not all, service animals wear special collars, harasses, or vests. Some, but not all, are licensed or certified, and actually have certification papers. You can legally ask if the animal is a service dog animal required because of a disability. However, since certification isn't necessary for an animal to be a service animal, papers cannot be a condition for allowing the animal in. And in case you were wondering, disabled people are not required to carry documentation of their medical conditions or disabilities. So although it is legal to ask for service dog papers, it really doesn't matter." Perhaps the landlord should study up on what the discrimination laws are before he winds up with a lawsuit on his hands. So, I got full body chills coming in here, and so many good signs and symbols. I felt full connection in the energy here. Let me start with, I'm an intuitive, psychic reader so energy readings, healings- all SUCH my vibe! I'm new in town, so I was excited to see the metaphysical community here! The crystal collection is beautiful, and really inexpensive for some pretty gorgeous and amazing stones. They offer beautiful collections of candles, and tarot decks- books on books, so many books! Robby was not on at all!!! It was medium 101, not that I'm a pro... but I know when someone is reaching desperately for info and speaking 100% generalized bs. It started off bad. It stayed bad. She never connected with my loved one and just sat there faking it. I was a little bit irritated for the whole hour. Really bad experience!!!! Really disappointed, because it was my daughters birthday and i really wanted to connect with her and I wasted it here with a fake. Not to mention the money I wasted. It sucks. I hadn't been here in quite awhile for a reading and was not familiar with the psychics working on Fridays however, I made and appointment to see Robert, thinking I wanted dream Interpretation and that is one of his gifts listed, but when I arrived the young lady at the counter stated that the name recorded for my appointment was Toney, and he had a small group ahead of me, which was fine because I was a bit early. Goodness, where do I begin.. First off, upon accepting a reading, I was offered a discount. Upon checking my bank account, no discount was applied and I paid double what I was told. That was the first scam. Second, the female that did my reading, completely saturated my reading with opinion and personal bias. At the time, I was an emotional wreck and so I clung to her every word in hopes to gain insight on my situation. I made life altering decisions with her reading in mind. I allowed my belief in her reading to be a driving force in the separation from my soulmate, deter me from my souls calling and basically suck me down to rock bottom. Please. Please. Please. If you are looking for legitimate psychics, this is not the place. I lost so much. It would break my heart to know someone were to experience the same. read more

i went here earlier today because fantasia crystals was closed, they don't have a good variety of items in this store, they have a small collection and i mean SMALL collection of crystals which was pretty disappointing, what made it worse is that they were over priced, they have a lot of employees able to give you a reading, one good thing i can say is that the collection of incense is amazing and most at a good price, i'd probably come back but just for the incense read more

I am a lover of all things metaphysical, and knowledgeable about astrology, numerology, and tarot. I used to frequent this store religiously, but since I've been busy I just haven't had the time. I had the day off today so I decided to go get a reading done, and brought my boyfriend along. Big mistake. I've been feeling a little down in the dumps lately, not knowing where I'm headed and losing my purpose. I asked for a general reading about life, and I didn't get any insight about anything I didn't already know. This woman kept writing on paper and making notes for me to follow, and told me to go to career fairs to find something I'd be interested in. I'm a master 44 in numerology, and she advised me to change my middle initial when I sign my name for extra guidance from the universe! We all know it doesn't work that way. Also, I pulled 5 cards at the end of the reading, and she only read one of them. Super bummed and let down about the whole experience, and, unfortunately, I will not be going back. read more
