Last night was my first time dining at NoCo - and certainly won't be my last! I've been anxious to try out this relatively new St. James spot after hearing great reviews from others and perusing the menu for months. Unfortunately, I'd made the mistake of waiting too late for reservations on multiple occasions. Our cocktails - the "Island Fever" and the huckleberry/gin concoction were great starters, followed by a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon each with the main courses. Service - exceptional. Our server, Krista, was extremely attentive and rounded out our 2.5 hour dining experience. Everyone else was fantastic as well! Ambience - great. We were considering sitting outside, but opted for inside. It got a bit loud later into the evening, but that's to be expected on a Friday night at a hot spot. Loved the decor. Three Small Plates: 1) The octopus with fingerling potatoes, smoked sausage, and peppers - so, so good. Large pieces of tender octopus and great flavor made this an "A" dish. 2) Crispy oysters over a papaya slaw with a miso-soy aioli were very, very good - "A-". 3) Wine braised beets with toasted pine nuts, ricotta, citrus, and greens - decent, but not spectacular. I wish this salad had been dressed/seasoned a bit better. A "B-" dish that I probably would have passed on had I knew what to expect. Main Courses: 1) PERFECTLY cooked swordfish loin over squid ink risotto, with an amazing shellfish & curry sauce that I wish I had more of was absolutely an "A". The two accompanying thin asparagus were kind of pointless, but didn't detract from the dish. 2) Scallops, which were quite large and perfectly seared, over riced cauliflower - very, very good, but there was a bit of an iodine twang in the cauliflower. I can't recall the exact components of the dish, as it wasn't my main. Honestly, the flavor didn't bother me too much, but it was a bit of a turn off to my dining partner. I'd rate the entire dish a "B" solely - but the scallops themselves were an "A". Dessert: 1) An OUTSTANDING, warm fresh fig and ricotta cake, which was a special and which we were told had just been baked that morning. We were contemplating passing on dessert, but I'm so glad that we didn't because this was an "A+" ending to an overall delicious meal. I wish we'd each ordered our own. I'm looking forward to establishing NoCO as one of my "go to" fine dining locations. Will be back! read more

Not a fan... we were sat at a bar table, then proceeded to wait 20 minutes to be acknowledged. Finally the hostess that sat us came to check how we were doing. She took our drink/app order and we finally saw our server 40 minutes after our seating. There was a large, boisterous table behind us that was occupying all of the servers attention. He finally came by and informed us that the large table was the owner and they were sampling wines. The food was pretty good. Just not good enough to ever go back. We were an afterthought all evening. I'd think an owner would have a sense of how his dining room is running. Also, when the food was brought to our table I asked the food runner a question. She had to chew the food that was in her mouth before answering. Who delivers food while eating??? Unfortunately she wasn't the only employee I saw chewing in the dining room. The hostess was great and tried to help where she could. She even followed us outside to offer a gift certificate for a future visit... we politely declined. I live local and I'll never go back. I took the time to email management before posting anything negative, but it's been months and I never received a response. That makes me feel like they just don't care. read more

We had dinner at NOCO on Saturday night and we were very impressed! From atmosphere to service to the overall culinary experience, everything was top shelf. Shannon, our waitress was very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive throughout our meal. My wife & I had the tuna tartare appetizer, which was superb, followed by the Bucatini Pasta with Shrimp & Lobster and a perfectly cooked Rack of Lamb. Our friends raves about the scallop entree. Nice place with good ambience. The bar is a nice place to sit and have a drink and the bartender was very attentive. The food is good enough, but very overpriced. The night we ate there the service was painfully slow. It took 20 minutes to meet our server and another 20 to get our first drink. I had the grilled octopus to start which was delicious but there was not much octopus on the plate. My wife started with the tuna tartare which was very well done with a nice size serving. The short ribs were delicious although a little too saucy and there was good amount on the plate. The duck was good but very small portion size. We won't be rushing back. read more

Great birthday night out with the family. Our party of 6 was greeted warmly by the host, the bartenders and our waiter. The service continued to be great straight throughout the meal. The decor was bright and elegant and all the plants were a nice decorating touch. 5 in our party ordered off the main menu. Two had the Lamb Wellington and said it was excellent. Another had the NY Strip and said the same. The Salmon and Roast Chicken also got rave reviews. I ordered from the specials and had the Minestrone Soup followed by a Shrimp and Swordfish over fettuccine with a red sauce. It was outstanding. I can't tell you about desserts because we didn't have any room. The tap beer selection was varied and interesting. The wine and special cocktails were great as well. This place is good. Food was exceptional and the service was great....with one minor exception which is why I didn't give it 5 stars Came in for dinner with 8pm reservation...we were about 15 minutes early so we waited at the bar....absolutely no problem we wanted a drink anyways....and we were early. The bar seats were all taken so our party of four waited by the bar area used to pass drinks to the wait staff getting drinks for the restaurant. ...and we waited and we waited....trying desperately to make eye contact with either of the two bartenders...mind you this was not a crowded bar just all the bar seats were taken...it was apparent neither bartender wanted to help and one even washed glasses while we stood there...neither of the bartenders came over for at least 5-10 minutes. The female bartender who did come over eventually came over with a look of complete disdain....I had my hand in the air trying to get her attention and as she sauntered over she said "yeah I'm coming"....oh I'm sorry are we bothering you asking for a drink at the bar you tend? No sense of urgency. Told one of my party who asked what kind of margaritas they have that she could make whatever she wanted....not in a nice way but in a way that said you figure it out....then when the drinks were brought over over I dropped a $100 bill on the bar and suddenly....a smile and a pleasant attitude was resuscitated to this young lady....came off as so offensive that I need to drop money to get quality service... Ended up leaving a $20 tip on 4 drinks. The rest of the us experience was great. The restaurant staff was very helpful and attentive and the food was great....they had an awesome steak special. We were not rushed and the waitress Kristin was super helpful to one of our party who had several food allergies. We would definitely go back but maybe avoid the bar read more

So, so good! We have had this place on our "to try" list for some time now. We ended up with no kids tonight so it was a perfect opportunity to go to NOCO. Chris was our server and we sat by the open kitchen at a table for two. We started with drinks and I had the pretty woman cocktail. It was full of cucumber flavor and a great start to the night. We shared three small plates (don't judge!) and they were very generously sized. We had the lobster and corn cake, burrata and beet appetizers. The lobster and corn cake was generous with lobster and perfectly cooked. The burrata had beautiful heirloom tomatoes and the most delicious chickpeas. The beet app was so different with the creamy ricotta, tangy grapefruit, crunchy pignoli nuts, and sweet earthy beets. It was so gorgeously plated too. For mains we had the swordfish special and scallops. The swordfish was atop corn and shrimp couscous and was so perfectly seared and roasted. Hubs wasn't a huge fan of the sauce on top, but his taste varies from mine and he's not too adventurous. The scallops were crusted with brown butter and pistachios and cooked to perfection! I subbed the cauliflower rice for potatoes with raclette. It was heaven! We shared the dessert special of pear and berry crumble with vanilla gelato. I had an espresso too. All I can say is wow! It was a home run from the food, to the service, to the ambiance. Chris was incredible and you can tell they all work as a team to ensure that everyone has a great diving experience. I had the pleasure of seeing the items leave the open kitchen and I already know they next time I'm getting the watermelon and feta small plate. All in all this fine dinner cost much less than we expected, being that we had before and after dinner drinks, apps, mains and dessert. My wife and went to NOCO for the first time a few weeks ago at my son's behest, who has worked in the fine dining industry for about seven years. The food was excellent and we really enjoyed our night! Everything was fresh and delicious. The only minor complaint was when the wine was brought to our table, the young lady who served it did not present the bottle for inspection, nor did she ask us to taste it. She simply opened it and poured. Ok for a low end restaurant but not for a $60 bottle of wine in an upscale restaurant. Other than that it was great! Hope to return soon. read more

This new farm to table restaurant is a great addition to the area. The oysters I had were really great and I am picky about oysters. The duck entree I had was cooked perfectly. My wife's ceviche was flawless. The service was excellent and the owner came over and suggested some great wines. Welcome addition to the area! Food was delish! Only negative (and hence the 4 and not 5 stars) is that we felt cramped because the tables were so close together (like in the city). They were so close we could hear everything from the table near us and the waitresses had to keep squeezing in between to serve us and our neighboring table and we had to pull out the tables to get out. The cuisine is supposed to be farm to table, however the flavor palates are all over the place and don't really make sense with certain menu items. Went to NOCO for dinner with my wife and was very impressed with all aspects. The staff was friendly, professional and accommodating. The menu was diverse and included a balance or tried and true dishes, as well as interesting and inventive creations. The service was prompt, attentive and kept the meal moving at the perfect pace. The food was prepared and served with pride and the staff seemed to have genuine concern that our meals met with our satisfaction. The presentation was top notch and our meals were excellent. All in all, this restaurant is highly recommended to those who value a entertaining and enjoyable culinary outing. I would not refer to NOCO as an inexpensive restaurant, BUT the prices are reasonable for the the level of craftsmanship and service that they offer. We came to NOCO for Mother's Day after a friend had recommended it. The weather was quite dreary that day and pulling up to the small parking lot and unassuming restaurant front, I was a bit tentative. Any feelings of doubt were quickly erased when we walked in. The interior is quite nice and we were greeted immediately. Once we were seated, we were a table of five, the entire experience was quite lovely. Service was top notch, the creative cocktails were all enjoyable and the food itself, obviously the most important thing, was quite delicious. Mom was overjoyed with her experience, and we all had a wonderful time. The ladies in our party even received a rose on our way out in celebration for Mother's Day, which honestly was a nice touch I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone. read more

My husband made a reservation here for our 3rd wedding anniversary because I have been dying to try it. The revamped atmosphere is very trendy and inviting. We were seated 5 minutes after our arrival as we were waiting for a booth to be cleaned. Our service was excellent and we were checked on by the owner or wait staff manager frequently. We ordered a split pea soup on the specials menu, the burrata over chic peas and tuna tartare. The soup was tasty but we weren't too impressed. The tuna was also tasty and the presentation was trendy however it wasn't practical. Scooping the tuna on a wonton chip to then dip into the soy sauce was a little messy, I'd prefer it be prepared. The burrata was fresh and a great touch to put it over the chic pea salad that was dressed lightly in a vinaigrette. For our meals, my husband ordered the pork shank and I ordered the pasta with shrimp and lobster. The pasta was so delicious, the seafood was fresh and tasty in the sauce. The sauce had a fish stock in it that wasn't fishy but tasty and paired nicely with the seafood in the dish. My husbands shank was cooked nicely and placed over a sauce with beans. He enjoyed the dish but said it lacked a little bit of flavor for his personal preference. We ordered sangria which was tasty and a chef's choice, also tasty. For dessert we had their gelato which was delicious. The menu is a bit pricey but all in all we had a good meal. read more

I had the braised beef short ribs, they were amazing, tender, and flavorful! the cheesy mashed potatoes and vegetables were a great accompaniment . The chocolate dessert was decadent and delicious, just the right amount and was paired with a delicious fig espresso gelato, I felt like I was back in Italy with the quality and uniqueness of the gelato! The staff was proficient , attentive, and friendly! This meal is definitely in my top 5 and coming from this foodie, that says a lot! will definitely be back again soon! read more
