We chose Noble Cellar for our wedding anniversary because it was highly rated and we enjoy unique, Five star dining experiences all throughout central New York and upstate New York and are not afraid to travel for a good meal. We had enjoyed the atmosphere And meals in the past when it was the mission restaurant so we thought why not! Needless to say, I felt there were some things that were ultimate fail for a fine dining restaurant and we most likely won't be back. Full disclosure I did share a direct message with them through Resy I never heard back from them, which tells me volumes. Small things like the barstools being too low to the bar as we were having cocktails it was so uncomfortable. We decided to have our cocktails at our table. Our server, the hostess and bartender were attentive and amazing. The main reason we came to the restaurant was the Duck meal they wound up being out of by 6:30 that night. My husband did choose as a substitute the braised lamb shank with the mint gremalata. Lamb was very tender, but 100% lacking in every way of the mint flavor. My swordfish was cooked perfectly, although plain and I was excited about turnips As I love them. Unfortunately they came out raw tasteless and inedible. I commented to our waiter and he said well they're Japanese so that's the way they are. All in all the dessert menu left us flat so we went out to another place for dessert & after dinner drinks. The percentage they add to your check for the back of the house gratuity is offensive. Just pay your people more and don't expect the diners to have to Pay up for your kitchen staff, as well as tipping the front of the house staff which got less of a tip because we had a tip the back of the house. All the hype some of it's real, most of it's not, glad we tried. It won't be back. There are too many other places and Upstate, New York.
I had lunch here on a Friday during the arts and crafts festival. I did make reservations and was seated promptly. Our waiter was lovely, but between him and the hostess it appeared they were very much overworked and managing the entire restaurant service. I ordered a Caesar with chicken. My husband ordered a burrata and mozzarella salad. Once our orders were placed, it didn't take long to be served. My Caesar was very interesting because it didn't use Romaine lettuce. Perhaps that's because of what's going on right now with Romain lettuce. It was flavorful and had a lot of croutons and mushrooms mixed in. The chicken was perfectly cooked. My husband's dish was rather odd as the cheese was kind of melted and it really needed to have some bread served with it to sop up the tomato and cheese juices. Atmosphere is very nice, but I found them a tad overpriced for lunch. One thing to know, is that they can't make mixed drinks.
I will start this as I always do by saying I do not give out five stars unless I am really blown away. I came back a second time after coming just a few weeks ago. Once again, it was outstanding. Great service great atmosphere and the food is superb. The price is worth what you pay for. If you have not come here yet, I strongly suggest it. It may be expensive, but the experience is hard to beat. One of my top five favorite restaurants of all time.
The rumors are true - this place is excellent! From the mystic decor, extremely knowledgeable winers (glasses are worth it!) perfectly curated seasonal menus & beautifly plated, this place is worth the money. Even when they run out of a dish, they have an equally amazing one instead, as well as drinks. They were super kind and accommodating, including a hook for my purse, a little engaging question booklet for my birthday & complimentary glasses of Champagne for the wait, which we didn't even mind! I definitely want to return for what I can only assume will be a fresh spring menu AND dessert.
This place is definitely worth at least trying. I waffled between a 4 and 5 star rating only due to the higher price for maybe the average diner. The service was impeccable and genuine. The meals were thoroughly explained. Any food allergies were asked about up front as some of the dishes were more sophisticated. The atmosphere was very relaxed and sophisticated. Iwas offered a purse hook for my purse to hang at the table. Coats may be hung at the entrance. It is on the darker end indoors which I appreciated but something to keep in mind if that is an issue. The food was perfectly prepared and delicious. The menu is rotated on a seasonal basis. We had the sweet potato gnocchi and the duck. The portions are smaller than what you may normally anticipate while eating out but are likely what they should be. The price is on the higher end but definitely worth it. I look forward to returning.
I have to say this is one of the best dining experiences I've had. It has wonderfully subdued, lighting, very warm and elegant looking inside. When we go out to dinner, we usually order multiple entrées and appetizers and share them. We had a very attentive waiter named Aaron who answered all our questions about the dishes we were interested in ...and the head chef Paddy even stopped by our table a couple times to tell us about the food and how it was made. Very classy. The entrées we ordered was the steak two ways... And the braised short rib. The steak came with an Amazing sauce. That's what I would also like to add with the appetizers also the sweet potato and the ceviche.... Everything comes with an amazing sauce or glaze that pushes everything over the top. We finished everything if you're looking for high-end dining, come to the Noble Cellar
This meal should've and could've been 4-5 stars . My first trip here while in town for work. I arrived with no reservation and what looked like a pretty busy evening. The front of house reception was very friendly and there were two beautiful ladies with warm and inviting smiles and manners. They found a seat for me at the bar, which is a handsome space. I started off with one of my favorite White Burgundy wines. The bartender told me about the selections for their three course Chef's tasting meal, which sounded very good. I started off with the spaghetti squash, latkes, and they were really good. They were served with apple butter and crème fraîche. I ordered the flat iron steak for my entrée which was served with homemade blue cheese pasta, and rainbow carrots. The beef and the carrots were delicious. The pasta was either not cooked or barely cooked and was maybe the worst pasta I've ever eaten. It was so disappointing because it looked beautiful and I was eager to enjoy the homemade pasta, and I just love blue cheese. The bar staff were apologetic and offered some compensation for the dish which I appreciated. The poorly prepared pasta made my entrée experience, disappointing. The bartenders were very friendly, super attentive, and clearly skilled service people. I would characterize the space as wildly civilized, and perfectly urban. I would try it again with hopes that all of my choices are properly served.
First time going, def not the last. From the hostess to the check drop, everything was a wonderful step in the experience. Rachel, my hydration queen was attentive and pleasant as heck. Our server Trevor's passion for the food was felt throughout. He was great at explaining the menu as well as when the plates came out. He told us how he truly loves working there and it shows. Would absolutely recommend him for your table. Then... the food. Everything tasted as it should, only levels better than expected. Can't wait to go back.
This was our second visit to Noble Cellar after having a great first experience, so we were excited to return and made reservations for the Friday before Valentine's Day to try to avoid the rush and special menus. When we arrived, we realized it was a tasting-menu-only evening, which hadn't been clearly communicated ahead of time with the required pricing. At the bottom of the tasting menu, there was also a note about a 22% service charge that is not a gratuity, but rather a fee to help pay staff. While we understand the importance of supporting the staff and we're generally happy to go with the flow, there was no set menu pricing communicated to us (or to the couple next to us, who were visibly upset and shocked, seemed like it ruined their evening). When the bill came, it was around $440 for the two of us before tip -- I chose the wine pairing and my husband had two beers. The food was good, but it did not feel worth that steep price point, especially considering we were seated at the bar. Adding a 22% service charge to an already substantial bill and then expecting an additional 20% tip feels excessive, particularly without clearly notifying guests in advance about the tasting-menu-only format and pricing. We live about an hour away - I'd still recommend it overall, but this experience was disappointing and very expensive.
I was genuinely looking forward to dining at what is often described as "the best restaurant in Syracuse," especially for their Valentine's Day prix fixe experience. Unfortunately, based on our visit, I do not anticipate returning. While I do have several culinary critiques--such as paying for the luxury wine pairing only to receive a bold Burgundy alongside Linguine and Clams, or seeing "Caviar" listed on the menu and discovering it was actually Bowfin roe--these are ultimately matters of taste and expectation. Likewise, the eclectic menu progression, shifting from Korean/Asian-inspired starters to Eastern European notes and then unexpectedly into Italian influences, was unusual but clearly stated ahead of time. SEE UPDATED REVIEW FOLLOWING THIS SECTION SPECIFICALLY RELATING TO "SERVICE FEE". What was not clearly stated--and what I believe crosses into dishonest practice--was the service fee. The menu advertised on Instagram included fine print noting a 3% service fee. That seemed reasonable. However, the check we received instead included a 22% service fee, which is a significant and unexplained deviation. This is not a simple oversight. The terms presented online at the time of reservation did not match the terms presented at the restaurant. (UPDATED REVIEW: Following my review, one of the owners of Noble Cellar reached out to discuss my experience. We had an in‑depth, thoughtful conversation about the complexities of New York State restaurant laws, particularly those governing how front‑of‑house staff may be tipped and how back‑of‑house employees may be compensated. While we were in agreement that the language surrounding the service fee was confusing, our discussion gave me a clearer understanding of the intent. I now feel far less certain that the discrepancy was malicious or deliberately deceptive. That said, it should have been made much clearer to diners that the service fee included what is traditionally understood as gratuity. Transparency in this area is crucial for maintaining guest trust, and clearer communication would have prevented the confusion I--and likely others--experienced. I want to commend the owner for reaching out directly and taking the time to address each of my concerns. His willingness to engage, listen, and provide context demonstrated genuine integrity. We also discussed my other critiques in depth, and it was evident that he was sincerely interested in my perspective and committed to further elevating the experience they aim to provide. I was invited back to experience a standard service, and I appreciate the opportunity. I look forward to giving Noble Cellar another chance and hope to update this review again following a future visit.) Our total bill was $599, including a $100 "service fee." I still chose to leave a $100 tip, as our server was attentive and should not be held responsible for management's decisions. In the end, we spent $700 for two people--paired with the added disappointment of feeling misled. I have photo documentation of both menus, and the discrepancy is unmistakable. I will be reaching out directly to ownership and management regarding this issue. Until then, I feel compelled to leave a 1-star review, as this level of inconsistency and lack of transparency is unacceptable. Without the inflated and undisclosed fee, my rating would have been closer to 3 stars, based on the food and overall experience.
We celebrated an early Valentine's Day so we could dine at Noble Cellar for their 1 year anniversary. It was a five course menu which included soup, appetizer, salad, entree and a cheese plate. I have included a picture of the menu. We could have added wine pairing but we are not wine drinkers. My husband had a couple of glasses of stout and I chose a nicely crafted mocktail with an Asian pear base. Our server was very knowledgeable about the food, service was friendly but professional. They have redecorated beautifully with very comfortable seating but let the beautiful details of the old church shine. The entire staff was busy ensuring no details were missed. Clearing dishes, refilling water, replacing silverware, serving and boxing up leftovers. The food was beautifully prepared and presented. We enjoyed our meals and would definitely order these items again. I added a cup of French press coffee and a dessert, apple cake with vanilla ice cream and a caramel sauce.... perfect ending. I can't leave out how impressed we were talking to the owner who came around several times to check on us. He was so passionate about his restaurant and downtown Syracuse. It was such a pleasure talking with him.
Such a great and unique dining experience. Love what they've done with this place in terms of aesthetic. Service was on par. They have many wines to choose from. We started off with the slow roasted pork belly. This was crispy on the outside but tender inside. We loved the blackberry chile sauce that accompanied. We split the braised pork shoulder and grouper entrees for dinner. Both were delicious with very different vibes. The pork shoulder had a lot of bold flavor compared to the milder grouper dish. The dishes look small, but were just enough to be filling. We finished off with the strawberry basil and coconut desserts. I've never had desserts like these before. They were very eccentric but really tasty. Can't wait to come back! read more

Just had the most incredible dinner at noble cellar to celebrate our 3 year anniversary. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic. We started with a beautiful white wine which had the perfect combo of minerality and floral notes. It paired really well with our appetizers which included a hot lobster mushroom toast and poblano pepper pork sausage. We then moved on to a seasonal delicious sweet potato gnocchi, brown butter sage sauce which paired well with a Syrah wine. Additionally we tried the rabbit tortier which paired well Mourcedrr Dessert was so yummy as well - we had the chocolate Lou de crème and the pumpkin sticky toffee pudding and it was spectacular with the madeira dessert wine which brought us back to the madeira wine we had when we got engaged in Madeira - it was such a special treat! Thank you noble cellar for the spectacular service! read more

Would rate it a 10 if I could. Awesome, eclectic playlist. Delicious food. Impeccable service. And the location is so cool, old church in the middle of everything! Drove by it, had to circle back. very unpretentious. What a find! Every dish was a wonderful, balanced fusion of flavors, textures and colors; with some unexpected surprises. Highly recommend and will come back if in town again. read more

We booked a reservation for date night and were 100% satisfied with the entire experience. The restaurant feels upscale but maintains a warm "cozy" atmosphere. The service was prompt, attentive and incredibly polite. Food was GREAT. No complaints at all. We tried 3 courses and finished our plates with each. Such a pleasant dining experience over all. 10/10. read more
The place has been remodeled and is tastefully decorated, intimate and quiet (easy to have a conversation). The staff are friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the pork belly starter. Fabulous flavor! On to the entrees. I had the artic char - out of this world flavor, topped with crab and beur blanc sauce. I'd had 2 bites before I took the picture, so it's deconstructed... Sorry about that! Others enjoyed their chicken entree and rib entree. The grand finale was the flourless expresso chocolate cake. Perfect ending! This place is special! read more

We had a great dining experience at Noble Cellar. Wife and I both ordered the ribeye with brown butter sauce, accompanied by a glass off the Chateau de Beaute Pinot Noir (maybe two) with the spring salad for starters. Absolutely delicious! Only 4 stars because they don't serve spirits due to some weird law being associated with a church nearby - so it's just Beer and Wine. I miss my pre-game of Martinis before a yummy steak dinner read more

Server helped us pick the perfect wine, it was so great. Great MCM look and feel to the place. This is a fine dining experience. I think I had short ribs and it was so good. My dinner date thought it was too expensive. I thought it was worth it. Definitely feels like a big city! read more

My husband and I dined at Noble Cellar this week. They had a record of my dietary restriction from last time, which was a nice and appreciated detail. We ordered a fig and goat cheese appetizer, which we shared, and which was delicious. My husband ordered the duck entree ($43) and I ordered the sea bass entree ($50). Our server did not warn or guide us toward the need to order more than this. The plates are quite small, the duck dish in particular was very small - a size I might expect for an hors d'oeuvre. We then shared dessert - the chocolate olive oil cake. Again delicious. But, we left with my husband having eaten no more than roughly 450 calories, in the course of a $167 meal, before tip. (Our order included the fig appetizer, the duck entree, the fish entree, 1 dessert, 2 mocktails and one sparkling water.) See photos of the fish entree and duck entree to get a sense of actual size. read more
Upon arriving to my destination with 645 reservations to the bar I noticed how dimly lit the entrance is at dark. For a minute I thought I was at the wrong address and in front of an abandoned church. Once confirming I was at the correct location I entered and was pleasantly surprised by the charming elegant atmosphere. We reserved bar seating and all the staff provided top notch service! The cook is amazing everything we ordered was delectable, the best Octopus I have savored! Our experience was beyond pleasant, the rabbit still has me perplexed. My interpretation is a curious rabbit wandering into a garden of wonders... read more

Beautiful space, excellent service, and outstanding food - a wonderful place for a special occasion! Everything about the experience was superb. The purple sweet potato soup with Thai flavors (lemongrass and toasted coconut) was phenomenal. We had the steak and pork chop entrees and both were perfectly prepared with wonderful flavors. Will definitely be back for special occasions when in Syracuse. read more
The owners of Noble Cellar and the amazing and talented local chef, Tim Haire, have formulated quite an extraordinary dinner menu and experience you will not forget. Ambience: The Noble Cellar is located in an old historic church, offering a lot of appealing amenities inside from various books, paintings, busts, historic stained glass windows, and a unique style of chairs and tables to sit at. The design and layout of the Noble Cellar was well thought out, comfortable, and very pleasant, offering a nice night out with friends, work colleagues or your significant other. The lighting is dim, and comfortable, but could easily converse with another table which we did and made some friends. Right from the get go upon entering, I was very much amazed by what the owners were attempting to portray with the selection of wall art and a unique style that downtown Syracuse needed. There are many attention grabbing features such as wall decor and beautiful images of nature and paintings that really grab the eye and add to the whole experience, hence the name "Noble Cellar". Food: First and foremost, the Noble Cellar knocked it out of the park. We began by being seated at a table and were offered a very extensive drink list. The wait staff were all very polite checking in frequently to see how our meals were and if we needed anything. Water glasses were topped off several times by passing wait staff, and empty plates cleared quickly by various servers looking to help out. Now...onto the food...I'm going to flat out suggest if you're getting an appetizer, to order the charcuterie board, easily a 10/10 with the cheese selection, meats, and the pickling was VERY well done. You will not be disappointed! Several items were pickled and offered a different pickling taste. This was a very good dish. Our main course consisted of the Grilled Onlet Steak and the Mushroom Risotto. Both were fantastic, steak was well cooked and had a TON of amazing flavor, the mushroom Risotto was out of this world and had shaved truffle on top. The food was so good, I decided to order the Jamon Serrano Black Cod as well last minute, and that was exceptional. Dessert, we asked the server to pick for us and she brought us the "Olive Oil cake". I've never had anything like this, and honestly, I wasn't sure how it was going to be...but WOW! Again! out of this world and I HIGHLY recommend this! Definitely a 10/10. Extras: The owner, Rob, came over to greet us during our meal and inquired how our food was and how our experience was going. Rob was very hospitable and caring, and that type of gesture says a lot to me. Our meal was so good we complimented the chef, Tim Haire, to our waitress, and Tim actually came out of the kitchen, mind you while it was extremely busy, to personally thank us for coming in, which I was able to thank him personally for cooking such an exceptional meal and shook his hand. I have to say this is something that I was very thankful for as its little moments and gestures like this, from the chef and business owner Rob, that treat people with respect and leave a lasting impact and a great positive memory. Overall we had such a unique and fun experience. The culture of the Noble Cellar offers a very rich and unique experience, and if you're looking to get out to have a little fun you can easily accomplish that. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a very nice fine dining restaurant. To me, the highlights of the experience lie in not just the amazing food, or the ambience being very unique, (it's nice to not have your typical cookie cutter restaurant as this is entirely the opposite) but the friendliness and personal care the head chef going out of his way from a busy kitchen to thank us for coming, that really was an honor. To Tim and Rob, you guys have done as fantastic job and you should be proud. Tim mentioned the menu will be expanded in the upcoming weekend adding several other main course meals, so I'm very much looking forward to that. See you guys soon. read more

I came here for the first time with one of my bestie who's also a foodie and we both LOVED this restaurant. The interior of this restaurant was so unique and very renaissance vibes yet gives a modern vibe at the same time. The service was excellent - our server was really attentive and we also kept getting different servers walking around and helping us change our dirty plates to clean ones, clean the table up, and asked us how we're doing. Now the food is the real winner. We started off with the beef tartare and the scallops which were out of this world and the best scallops i've ever had in my life: the beef tartare was soo delicious as well and the homemade chips were so addicting. best beef tartare i've had by far. Lastly, we got the gnocchi for an entree and this was the best gnocchi i've had. the basil pesto sauce was so creamy and so fresh and definitely tasted home made. i loved the crumble toppings on top which i believe was just baked italian bread crumbs. If you're in the Central NY area - you must visit Noble Cellar. The food is delicious, and the service is great. they have wine and beer but no liquor. We didn't try any of the wine or beers but we will be sure to next time! read more

Vibe and decor great. Service excellent. The owners both greeted us immediately and were very present and kind in the interactions. If possible, get a seat in the side booths or in the alcove. Generally speaking the seasoning is spot on. Interesting thoughtful menu. The chef definitely gets flavor combinations. I'm a savory guy so I am shocked to say the desserts stole the show. Specifics: Pork belly app - Tasty. Little hard to get a good bite with the pork belly, crispy kale and sliced apples all together. Crushed hazelnuts were sparse and seemed an afterthought. For me, I could've used more apple pieces but I love lots of brightness and acid to cut fat. Butter lettuce salad - fresh and well dressed. This was a great bite when you got it all at once. Blue cheese def could overpower it all if you got too much in a bite. Roasted chicken - Plenty good but not special. Smallish piece of chicken, felt like there could have been a few more pieces of potato. Broccolini was quite good. Seasoned and cooked very well but not memorable. Arctic char - This is a great dish. Purple potatoes stole the show. I don't know how they make them have that taste and texture. Only tricky part was cutting and eating the skin without crushing the fish. Green apple tart - that salted caramel mousse was special --Dulce de leche vibe. This was very very good. Olive oil cake - somehow this was even better. I can't say much more but when you got the cake, whipped yogurt, lemon curd and pistachios in one bite--wow. Great addition to Syracuse food scene. read more

Noble Cellar is a beautiful location. Ambiance is wonderful. The Duck dinner was fantastic. I will say that the Bass appetizer was not listed as raw fish and it was. I felt that description could have been better. I would not recommend the Brioche appetizer as the bread seemed quite stale. Unfortunately the service was lacking for the night I was there. I waited a while for a table even though I had a reservation and my meal took over an hour to arrive. Regardless, I would try Noble Cellar again because the duck dinner was great. read more

Truly outstanding. The menu is interesting and superbly executed. We had Tuna crudo and slow roasted pork to start. Elk carpaccio and gnocchi for main. Chocolate cake to end. But that just describes the basics: each dish had subtle elements that elevated the experience. The tuna crudo had diced watermelon pieces that echoed the look of the tuna but offered bright and crunchy contrast. The sauce for the elk carpaccio was out of this world. The pork had a tiny bit of heat along with the other flavors. The gnocchi were perfect light pillows to carry the sweet new corn and cheese sauce. The sorbet was the perfect contrast to the dark chocolate cake. Wine by the glass was no afterthought: each selection interesting. And the after dinner vermouth/sherry was the perfect close. All of this with the luxurious elegance of the space and the warmth and perfection of the waitstaff. JUST GO AND ENJOY THIS EXPERIENCE! read more
