In case you have never been they offer steaks that are cooked in a brick fire oven. AMAZING I ordered the VA sirloin which was cooked to perfection (medium rare) with creamed spinach and potatoes. The creamed spinach and the potatoes were very delicious and flavorful. I also ordered the fried oysters which were great. Not overly fried and still maintained the texture and flavor of a typical oyster. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was very entertaining and helpful. She was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. She ensured that wanted for nothing. The ambiance was great. I loved the cow theme as well as the signage that stated "no well done steaks". It was a great touch. Overall, I had a great experience. If I am in Charlottesville again I will definitely visit.

The burger is also a delicious and cost effective option, but I'm also partial to the salmon. It's a pretty good sized restaurant with a great patio. Staff is always friendly and efficient.

The service was excellent and accommodating. I was impressed because I know large groups can be difficult to wait on, so was very pleased with the service and how quick they were to get our orders in and us served. We ordered a variety of appetizers, such as the the empanadas, calamari, and garlic shrimp. My favorite items were the empanadas and calamari, which were extra tasty with the accompanying sauces. We also ordered a variety of grilled meats, including the two large Parrillada meat platters and picanha . The accompanying sides we tried were the fries, cheese rice, fried yucca, and plantains. I really liked the plantains, but the cheese rice was not was I expected. It was more like grits than cheesy rice. The meats were cooked to how we requested it, and of course tastes especially good with the sauces. My favorite cuts were the strip steak, beef rib, and picanha. I didn't really care for the sweet breads, but that is a personal preference. Value wise, the Parrillada platters could easily feed 4 - 5 people, so we had plenty of leftovers. I would definitely recommend checking out La Estancia if you enjoy grilled meats!

They were not very busy when we arrived but remained attentive during our entire visit. The food was fresh, well-seasoned, and delicious. We got a parrillada mixta, which means mixed grilled meats. It was superb! My husband had a cup of coffee, which was also good. Usually, restaurants go for generic coffee, and it's always overcooked. This was fresh and delicious. The restaurant is nicely decorated, music is playing, and there is a bar. It would be a great hang-out spot.

The empanadas are a must-try... they're crispy on the outside with a savory filling. The mac and cheese and fries are my favorite sides, as they add comfort to the meal and taste best out of the sides IMO. What stands out is the freshness of the food. It's always hot. The atmosphere is casual, with a typical diner setup, but it works well for a quick casual meal. Another nice touch is that they serve food on real plates when you dine in, which gives it a bit of a homier feel. Plus, the prices are reasonable for the quality you get. Service was good. The staff speaks primarily Spanish. They brought food out relatively fast. Definitely a place to consider if you're looking for a good quick meal!

I love the cook and seasoning of them. Crispy but tender. NY strip steak- juicy, adequately seasoned and cooked to perfection. I ordered medium and that's what I got. The steak itself was a nice serving. The asparagus was deelish as well. The dish could use a few more stalks. To wash it down I had a glass of the montepulciano. A dry red with a sweet bouquet. Not overly sweet though. You should check them out if you're in the area.

I've lived in Richmond for almost three years and had never been to Bookbinders, so I was excited to try it. We had a 6:30pm reservation and the lot across the street was pretty full by the time I arrived, but thankfully was able to get a spot. We started off with the seared Cajun tuna and crabcakes appetizers. The tuna was delicious and melted in your mouth. The crabcakes were tiny and just ok, so I wouldn't go out of my way to order those again. I ordered the Japanese Hokkaido Pan Seared Scallops, which came with asparagus risotto. This was by far the tastiest scallops I have ever had, and growing up in New England, I've had my fair share of scallops. They were so flavorful and melted in your mouth. We ordered a side of the Lobster Mac and Cheese, which was so cheesy and chock full of lobster. So good! For desert (which I got to go because I was so full), I got a piece of their key lime pie, which came with an oreo cookie crust, and was really tart and tasty. The manager stopped by our table several times to check on us and our waitress was also really attentive. This is definitely a place for special occasions and I'd recommend skipping a few meals as their portions are nicely sized. I can see why this restaurant has been around so long.

I don't even have a huge appetite, and the amount of food I received was still surprisingly small. The service was also disappointing from the moment I arrived. The restaurant was completely empty, yet no one greeted me or acknowledged me when I walked in. I eventually had to walk over to the bar area myself to ask about my pickup order. The woman working there looked confused that I was even asking and mumbled a response I could barely understand. I figured maybe she was busy, so I waited, but the entire experience became increasingly uncomfortable. I stood there awkwardly for about 10 minutes while the employees talked amongst themselves and kept looking over at me, yet no one updated me on my order or even spoke to me. The worst part was the food itself. The potatoes in the Papa a la Huancaína were cold and partially raw. I literally had to finish cooking them in the microwave at work. The empanada was decent, and the alfajor would have gotten better marks if it weren't for the small hair I found on it, but overall the experience was not worth the price. Unfortunately, I wouldn't ever come back. Revash has better portions, better prices, and overall much better food.
