My memory of this restaurant didn't match this visit. We came to Cville on a wine tour. We came to this restaurant for wine pairings -- but our server never asked if we wanted them. I had to stop her at the bar to say I did. No one asked my wine preferences, and two of the three pairings were Sauternes and Port (not my thing). I didn't even touch the Port, and no one asked why. $79 for 3 pours . I should have bought a bottle. Foie gras to start? Delicious. Lobster carbonara? Fresh pasta, but the lobster was so overcooked it could've bounced off the floor. My husband wanted me to send it back, but I didn't -- worried they'd just say it was fine. (My issue, maybe.) He had the lamb and loved it. Dessert for me was fromage, but I was too full to eat it. There were canapés, amuse-bouche, little spoons, and desserts -- the highlight was a single bite of beet with truffle goat cheese. But for $500, the best bite of the night shouldn't be one canapé.

First time here Naundi was our waitress and she took great care of us! The portions here are large so bring an appetite! Also dress to impress as this is not a casual dining. We celebrated our anniversary and the staff listened to my reservation notes and had a lovely bottle of champagne waiting for us upon arrival! The lobster bisque was amazing and fillied me up! The seafood on the entree risotto was cooked to perfection and was the star of the show! The scallops were melt in your mouth and sweet flavored (very fresh) The squid ink risotto was grainy and to my estimation about 85% cooked and too undercooked for my palate. Overall this place is a culinary destination in Charlottesville and is a must try for the higher end French Food Enthusiast Would love to see Duck Cassoulet and garlic snails on the menu! Thanks to all who were on shift tonight!

A must-try! The waitress kept bringing out appetizers--'chef's specials,' as they called them. It's a small but intimate venue, and I absolutely loved it. I'll definitely be coming back!

Eating at Fleurie was more than just getting a meal, it was an experience. My husband and I came here when we went on a weekend trip to Charlottesville to celebrate our recent nuptials, and it did not disappoint! We knew that it was a prix fixe menu, but were delighted to find out that they also brought canapes in between courses. I'm not well-versed in French cuisine, but coming here has made me eager to expand my horizons. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate here and recommend coming here for a special occasion, or when you just feel like treating yourself.

I would give this a 3.5 actually. The 4.5 for service it was on point. We were seated promptly upon walking in for our reservation. Never had to wait for service. The appetizers and extra canapés were awesome and very tasty. I only say a 3.5 based on my lobster meal, was not warm, had no flavor, and actually felt raw. Everyone else said they loved their meal. We had the wine pairing and it was hit or miss even after saying no more sweet wines. The bar area is very dark. The table we were seated at in the corner was very dark and made it difficult for my wife to eat.

Fleurie never ceases to amaze. This is my third time here, and the food, service, and ambiance do not disappoint. It is the quintessential old-school fine dining, with servers in black suits, coat checks, white table clothes, candlelight, and a comprehensive menu. The prix-fixe menu is a three-course menu with an appetizer, entree, and a dessert, but they also brought us canapés all throughout the meals that are so delicate. My glass is never empty for more than a minute; the servers are quick to pour. The sea bass entree I ordered was fresh, crisp, and flavorful. What I really love is the presentation of food. The color, the texture, the plating were all chosen with intention. Overall a 10/10 experience if you are looking to spend some money on find dining in central Virginia.

I only ate the corners of this cold steak. Tasted putrid.

Terrible experience. Food was gross and cold. We arrived at 7:40 and did not get food till 9:32. I ended up eating microwave burgers at 10:11! Here is full story: We had reservations at 8. I'm an early is on time sort of person do we arrive at 7:40. The hostess said your table is not ready yet... unless you want to sit there...(pointing to a small table in front of hostess area and near door. I ask, "which table is our table?" She states she is going to ask the manager... then the manager comes and directs us to the small table in front of the hostess area. Sure... not a big deal but this rubbed me the wrong way. Next we had some less than ideal drink experiences... but nothing to write about really. Not a big deal. Then we wait... and wait... and wait. We watch other couples come in and be seated at tables that looked open on our arrival. They get service and get food... we wait. And wait... and wait... we arrived at 7:40 btw. Our food is not delivered till 9:32. I also wonder if the manager heard me telling my wife that if the food is not there by 9:45 we are leaving! As I was not quite in this announcement and he was nearby. Our food finally arrived. My steak was very cold. Almost like I had arrived at 7:40 and the food was done at 8... but they just left it out on the counter. Further, it tasted terrible. Thinking about it now makes me want to puke. The meat tasted old like maybe they cooked it 3 days ago and left it on the counter and the flies were digging in... then the manager said... get them their food hurry.... Grab the rotten steak w flies on it! I regret to admit I ate the corners of this disgusting steak after sitting in this restaurant for 2 hours. .. I regret these actions but I was hungry...see the picture. But I stopped there. I then went home and had some White Castle burgers which was a pleasant upgrade to the garbage served at this restaurant since at least it was hot! Terrible experience. I can't wait to never go here again!!!!

Came here for a late Valentine's Day dinner and was happy to finally try this place. The atmosphere is upscale yet cozy with candle-lit seating and nice table linens. I will say the two person tables are seated very close to each other which is not my favorite thing in the world (found myself trying to tune out the conversations on either side of me the whole time), but it is a smaller restaurant so i guess that is to be expected. The food was a mixture of absolutely amazing dishes and just "meh" dishes that were a bit of a letdown. For the appetizer I got the foie gras ($15 upcharge) which I think is the best bite I have ever had in my life... ridiculously good and melt in your mouth. I am still dreaming about it lol. I got the poached lobster for my entree which was not as stellar sadly -- lobster was overcooked and rubbery and the pasta lacked flavor. My boyfriend said his roasted duck breast was also very chewy. For the dessert we split the baked Alaska (great tableside show, veryyy alcoholic tasting) and crème brûlée (pretty standard). I absolutely loved the extra goodies that they brought us in between the main courses which were delicious and inventive. And I wasn't expecting it at all so it was a really fun surprise since we didn't know what was coming! Some were great and some were just okay (a few of the savory bites were really salty for my taste) but overall it made the meal feel more like an experience which I really enjoyed. Overall a memorable dinner and while not all of the dishes were to my taste, I would come here again for a special occasion.

4.5 stars Dined outside during a snowstorm! Wore snow pants in preparation--good thing too because it was freezing cold and snow kept falling from the tent onto the heater and exploding over me in shocking ways--but a French adventure!! We had the prixe fixe with reserve wine pairings, so it was not an inexpensive meal--strange in this time to pay so much for exploding snow ambience... but the food was quite delicious, they gave little extras throughout the meal, and the wine was good too. Our waiter was really knowledgeable about wine which I appreciate. The best dishes IMHO were the mushroom app with poached egg (I'm going to make it at home), the lobster bisque, the amuse bouche starters and the apple tart. There were some mishaps with service but these are strange times... look forward to someday trying fleurie indoors!

Fleurie is the kind of restaurant that is not about just about the food (as exceptional it may be). It is about transporting foodies such as myself to old school European hospitality and to France itself. This place is definitely pricy, although worth the amazing experience for special occasions.

    Bonus appetizer!

The inside is pretty small so if you have a larger group and you want to sit together, just know dining outside maybe your best option. Anyway! I ordered their garlic bread appetizer, short rib entree, which came with a side of mash potatoes, carrots, and Brussels sprouts; and pistachio cheesecake for dessert. The garlic bread appetizer is a must! It comes with enough pieces for about two people to share and is paired with a fresh bean paste as a dip - trust me it's delicious! The short rib was just as delicious! The Brussels sprouts did seem a bit undercooked, but it wasn't a deal breaker. Finally, the cheesecake was solid was well! What a treat for an elevated meal out. We liked that it was fish forward and very well prepared. It has other option though if the sea is not your thing. The service was friendly and prompt and the vibe was French farmhouse. Loved the banquette seating with cushions. Probably the most comfortable I've ever been in a restaurant. The wooden chairs could probably use a pad though. We started out with a cocktail, a beer and an iced tea with its own little cut carafe of simple syrup. The cocktail was the Madam George and it was just as described: Complex, bitter and sweet. Loves that they had descriptions under each cocktail. So helpful! My husband really enjoyed his dark beer from Von Trapp. It was smooth and lighter than most dark beers so perfect for a summer night. To start the meal we received a complimentary amuse bouche of crab salad. It was a delightful briny and citrus bite. For apps we got the burrata and seafood board and both were great openers for our meal. The burrata had a lovely smooth and creamy texture and the tomato and sauce were a nice complement. Needed a tad bit more crostini but we used some that came on the seafood board which was full of tasty and unique seafood delights: the tea smoked scallops with ponzu were my favorite! For entrees we got the bacon wrapped trout, the branzino and the halibut. All three were delicious! Seriously couldn't decide what we liked the best because they were all so good. The trout had a depth of flavor unusual for fish because of the slight smokiness and creamy texture of the fish contrasting with the crispness of the bacon.. The branzino was light and fluffy with a nice tang from the yogurt sauce. The halibut was perfectly cooked with a creamy coconut risotto and a lovely ginger tomato sauce with a nice kick. The mango salsa with a perfect complement to give it an island feel. And to top it off there was a complimentary dessert bite that was a shortbread with caramel and chocolate ganache and a touch of salt. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. This is particularly true for the wine program; for a venue with such a massive retail selection, the curated menu feels surprisingly stingy. I had high hopes for their Cheese Board, but unfortunately, it mirrored my general experience here: great flavors, questionable value. The Highlights: The presentation on the bamboo board is lovely. The bread was exceptionally fresh and flavorful, and the fruit accompaniments; Persimmon, guava, grapes, and strawberry, offered a bright, acidic contrast that paired well with the selections. The Letdowns: Zero Transparency: The cheeses weren't listed on the menu, and the server didn't offer any information on what was being served. Half the joy of a professional board is the "story" knowing the origins and profiles. We were left entirely in the dark. The "Bread-to-Cheese" Ratio: Most of the selections were hard cheeses, and the two soft cheeses provided were literally the size of a quarter. Every sample was sliced remarkably thin. While the bread portion was generous, there wasn't nearly enough cheese or fruit to sustain it. It felt less like a cheese service and more like a bread board with a cheese garnish. Bottom Line: The Crush Pad clearly has access to great ingredients, but the portions should be more than "tastes." I want to love this place, but the value for the price just isn't quite there.
