Cute hidden restaurant on Westbriar. Eat in or get to go (even frozen for later). Sooo yummy, love their sauces. Friend staff.

Got an order of churros to go on a weekday afternoon. They were fresh, warm and delicious. Friendly helpful service and reasonable prices.

Chimi-Pulled Pork empanadas. These things are so delicious ! They have a food truck located downtown next to VCU/MCV on Marshall and 11th street. Everything about them screams someone took their time to prepare them. The crust is flaky and the inside is juicy and tender. I thought they would be soggy but they are absolutely perfection. I visit at least twice a week because they're just that good. The young man who works there has the best personality, he knows the menu, and his recommendations are spot on!

Super cute little spot near to a lovely thrift store. I just stumbled in after thrifting and the empanadas were lovely. They have an option to take some home to warm up yourself, or ones to get to-go or dine in. Cute little homey environment and the staff are super nice.

Happened to be in the area and saw this gem in the strip mall across from Food Lion/Hope Thrift off Patterson. I was welcomed when I walked in and announced it was my first time. The person behind the counter was friendly and encouraged me to try their frozen options since I wanted the empanadas for dinner. They had a lovely display of ready to eat as well. The kitchen was in the back and there were a few "dine in" tables both inside and out. The entire place was very clean. I selected 6 different kinds and each is marked with a number so you know what you are eating! The sauces were really not necessary since the flavors were so good! The package contained everything I needed to prepare, even a piece of parchment paper! All I added was the egg wash. Super easy dinner at a reasonable cost. 6 were enough for my husband and I to share. Beef, spicy beef, chicken, cheese/onion/chorizo, spinach/ricotta, and portobello. I will return!

I've been wanting to try Empanadas market and finally did. I ordered two chicken empanadas and was not disappointed. The food tastes fresh and not to mention delicious. I'd definitely recommend trying a few different flavors and ordering a good amount because you will want more. The location was clean, parking easy, and the service was good. The ambiance was relaxed. I wish there were more locations.

Empanadas... a staple of Latin cuisine. Growing up with a Cuban mother, we ate empanadas all the time! Hers were out of this world, so my expectations weren't set too high. How can you go wrong with a pastry pocket filled with delicious fillings: beef, pork, chicken, fruit or veggies! They are convenient, tasty and inexpensive! My hubby knew of this place from seeing their food trucks at events, so we were looking forward to this "to go" empanada restaurant. It's a tiny spot in a strip shopping area. You walk in and there's a counter, an empanada case and a couple of stools. No tables. Basically grab and go. The owner is from Argentina, and there's a string art picture of his homeland on the wall. Another wall boasts a menagerie of plants and succulents. We were greeted by a pleasant young lady, the owners relative and she explained all the varieties of empanadas and their numbering system to tell them apart. We ordered the ground beef, the pork and the spinach pockets. They were pretty good, nicely seasoned, flaky, but not over the top. We got 3 for $10 which didn't put a huge dent in our "pocket"! We were also told that the empanadas can be purchased frozen for a "take and bake" option. I prefer the empanadas at Kuba Kuba, but these are good for a quick bite! Nothing compares to mom's though - I think I'll go pay her a visit!

I cannot say enough about this place every time I am even close. I must stop there‼Empanadas are outstanding you can get them frozen for a party and heat them up yourself. Their mixes of spices are amazing. There sauces are the best place is super clean. It's colorful it's inviting A must I could eat this every day ...and this is coming from someone who has been a New York foodie, I would say tough critic five stars no question‼

    12 different empanadas!

These empanadas are fantastic! Its a small storefront, so typically you purchase to go. I have been twice so far and it is always filled with people! Seems like a very popular place. I went with my bf and we got the 12 count box, twice, in effort to try nearly all the filling flavors. I really liked the chicken, pulled pork, mushroom, and zucchini and parmesan! It is surely worth checking out! They bake fresh and also have frozen ones available to purchase, which is awesome. When you want to order something freshly baked and they're out, it's only a 10 minute wait, which is well worth it. They're sauces are great too, they have two different sauces, one is oil base chimichurri sauce and the other is a red bell pepper creamy sauce. They are both wonderful! My favorite thing is that as she was packing our box with all the different empanada fillings we ordered, i wondered how we would be able to tell them all apart! or if we were just going to have to play the guessing game while we try them.... NOPE! they are imprinted with numbers in the corner which match the numbers on the menu and they have free tiny booklets for you to tell them apart. I thought that was such a thoughtful touch!

Always a treat to get these empanadas. Friends from Texas said they were better than those found in the southwest.

I also noticed that we didn't receive any sauces (ie, chimichurri) for the empanadas. Not sure if I caught them off-guard or something! The pastries themselves tasted fresh and not too sweet, and I feel like the best time to go is when they're open first thing in the morning; I also feel that their items do sell out quickly. The pulled pork had no flavor at all until you added the hot sauce that was on the table. If you don't want hot sauce, you just get to eat plain white bread pulled pork. (The hot sauce was maybe the best thing on the table besides the black beans...) Every single damn dish was covered in chopped sweet peppers; completely unnecessary and what are they trying to hide? Couldn't even taste the empanadillas because they had so much crema all over them...that should be on the side so we could actually taste the food . The steak was OK (not Cuban in any recognizable way) but the very smallest portion possible....for a "special" that we paid extra for, we expected it to be special in some way. And the platanos...THE PLATANOS...super over-fried and dry as a bone with no flavor, no salt, no nothing. We left a huge dish of them on the table. The key lime tart barely had any lime flavor. The flan was lumpy! The "tres leches" cake is just plain yellow sheet cake with simple marshmallow frosting. WTAF We drove an hour each way and promised guests great Cuban food, only to be disappointed and, frankly, super embarrassed.
