Happened to be in the area and saw this gem in the strip mall across from Food Lion/Hope Thrift off Patterson. I was welcomed when I walked in and announced it was my first time. The person behind the counter was friendly and encouraged me to try their frozen options since I wanted the empanadas for dinner. They had a lovely display of ready to eat as well. The kitchen was in the back and there were a few "dine in" tables both inside and out. The entire place was very clean. We have been getting empanadas from here for a couple of years and they recently expanded to have a few tables to sit and eat. Its a small place but so worth a try. Used to be takeaway only. The empanadas are AWESOME!!! The chimichurri is some of the best I've ever had. You must try the chimichurri pork empanada. The dessert empanadas are also great. A friend loves the spicy fresh tomato sauce! You can eat freshly baked there or stop in to get already frozen empanadas. You can also place orders for pick up. You walk in and there's a counter, an empanada case and a couple of stools. No tables. Basically grab and go. The owner is from Argentina, and there's a string art picture of his homeland on the wall. Another wall boasts a menagerie of plants and succulents. We were greeted by a pleasant young lady, the owners relative and she explained all the varieties of empanadas and their numbering system to tell them apart. We ordered the ground beef, the pork and the spinach pockets. They were pretty good, nicely seasoned, flaky, but not over the top. We got 3 for $10 which didn't put a huge dent in our "pocket"! We were also told that the empanadas can be purchased frozen for a "take and bake" option. I prefer the empanadas at Kuba Kuba, but these are good for a quick bite! It is surely worth checking out! They bake fresh and also have frozen ones available to purchase, which is awesome.
