Pretty good! The menu is extremely confusing though. I have had arepas before, but someone who has not would have a hard time understanding this menu. I still didn't know what my topping options were for them. Luckily after looking at the menu, their website, Yelp, and google images I was finally able to figure out what I wanted (too much work lol). I landed on the Pabellon Arepa which had shredded beef, black beans, cheese and plantains.... They deffffffffff needed to strain them black beans a lot more and distribute the ingredients more because it wasn't just messy, it was atomic bomb messy. I needed 100 napkins and a knife and fork to get through it. It was pretty tasty though! My hubs got the pulled pork with avocado, def not as messy and it was pretty good. We also got the cheese sticks appetizer, I would say this was just okay. It was their take on mozzarella sticks essentially. My friend ordered the Cachapas Richmonder.... It was SO SO GOOD! We all took a bite and were wowed by how good it was! She definitely won in the food ordering. I would get that next time and highly recommend it to anyone! Overall it was really good! I tried my first ever Arepa at the Happy Arepas food truck at the South of the James farmer's market. It was my first experience with Venezuelan food in general! Their arepas we're SO FREAKING good and yum. We ordered the vegetarian arepa and modified it a bit. It tasted super fresh and was a dope new food experience. It was essentially cheese, a chickpea salad, spices, avocado, spinach, and onions assembled in a cornmeal exterior. It was super soft and melted right in your mouth. And MAKE SURE you ask for an extra side of their pesto mayo. It pairs beautifully with the arepa! Overall a 10/10 experience. read more

Best thing ever. I'm addicted to the steak arepa but their cachapas (corn pancake) are SO good too. Arepa's kinda messy but it's worth it, and messy just means its full of good stuff. Ayos mio these are delicious! Some of the best arepas I have ever had. Found this lovely food truck at the RVA big market at Bryan park. Service: The staff were super friendly and willing to have some great suggestions to us about what to order. They communicated wait times and ingredients very well. Food: Ordered the steak arepa without tomatoes and a breakfast arepa. The steak was tender, and juicy. They were long strips of steak instead of cubes like you would find at most Latin American places. The arepa was also filled with delicious cheese and a soft but crunchy corn meal arepa of course. Don't forget the delicious hot sauce they have in a squirt bottle to the side of the ordering window. It was a must! The breakfast arepa was filled with fluffy egg and sausage. I was told it was cooked perfectly and paired well with the crema the arepas came with. I am eager to try this food truck again! read more

This truck is a must visit. I've gotten to try a variety of dishes, all of which made me the envy of my friends because I rubbed it in their faces how delicious this food is!! Arepas, tostones, you name it, it's delicious. I would say the biggest favor you can do for yourself is to ask for an extra little tub of sauce. It's a magical sauce, and it improves already delicious flavors. If you're not sure what to get, ask for some guidance. I ended up with a shredded beef tostones after I said, 'I want to try the tostones, but I don't know what to get.' It's one of my favorite dishes in Richmond now! The arepas with griddled cheese is soooo good too! The marinated pork is also delicious--honestly, I can't name anything I've had so far that isn't. Part of what goes into that is the freshness of the ingredients. The staff is really friendly too. They make suggestions, they are really warm, you feel like a welcome--and expected!--guest when you stop by! The portions are generous, so maybe consider getting a few dishes to share with friends. It's not car food, so definitely consider taking this home to eat on a plate with a knife and fork--unless you're good with making a delicious mess! I didn't really know what I was in for here. I tried it because I had never had an Arepa before. They were in front of the Times Dispatch building that day so I went down and got a Pork Areras and wow, it was so good. Like really, just amazing. I am not sure what they put on it but the sauce they used was amazing and those Arepas are just delicious. This is a great truck. read more
