    My Empanada Truck

Hot and fresh empanadas! We saw this food truck parked in the Scott's Addition area as we were leaving Slingshot one day a few months ago! Such a delightful surprise... we got a few Nutella Empanadas and a Potato Chorizo! It was such a nice little treat for us and our kiddos. We all thoroughly enjoyed it as we were walking back to our car... I so regret not picking up a few more! We will for sure get some more the next time we see the truck around :)

My ABSOLUTE favorite. We used to get the food truck at work on occasion, and those days would bring my coworkers & I so much joy. I'm so glad that they have a store front and they recently expanded so there is indoor seating now. On Thursdays, they have a special deal in which you can purchase 4 empanadas for $12! My go to's are almost always spinach, RVA, and beef with the green and red salsa. They also have a freezer of empanadas that you can purchase to take home and bake. The varieties are endless and we are regulars! 10/10 - would definitely recommend for a quick bite with friends and coworkers. The staff has always been so friendly and accommodating. It's a bit hard to find since it's located on the back side of the strip mall, but there is plenty of parking spaces.

I got the Beef Empanada, Chicken Empanada, Spinach Ricotta Empanada. All were amazing and beautifully made. Service is always stellar and friendly. If I could give this place a million stars I would!!!!

They have a large selection of different types of empanadas suitable for all dietary preferences! My favorite empanadas were the RVA, Veggie, and Pineapple! I love how flavorful the RVA empanada is and the texture of the shredded chicken is perfect. The guajillo chili and cheese add a great flavor to it. I also love pairing it with the avocado salsa. I also recommend giving the veggie empanadas a try, they are packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. The pineapple empanada is my favorite empanada, it has the perfect amount of sweetness and the cinnamon pairs well with the pineapple

The menu inside the super clean establishment had more detail and I was so excited. The staff was wonderful and handled the busy line with a smile. I was given a pager while I waited and discovered there enclosed air conditioned outside sitting area. So clean and spacious and everything you needed to enjoy your food there. I got their Mocha coffee and my husband got their Latte coffee. BOTH were delicious! I don't remember the order that we hand (since 2 months have passed) but I know the food came out pretty quick and def had their presentation of the dish. While the location and interior is unassuming, we were met with friendly service from staff who wanted to make sure we had the best experience possible. They walked us through the menu, answered questions, and provided recommendations that were spot on. I ended up getting a mocha and the personal sized Picada. The dish consisted of multiple cuts of meat including steak, pork belly, and chicken. Everything was seasoned well and utterly delicious. The price was just around $22 - and was absolutely worth it given the three meals I was able to make out of it. The coffee ordered was nothing to write home about, but it did the job. When you visit be sure to check out the bakery section. Our waitress treated us with some fresh baked goods which were lovely so don't miss out.

The restaurant itself is really cool. There's a ton of character to it, lots of decor and signage, and pots hanging in the open kitchen. I didn't try the coffee this time, but I was glad to see the traditional Cuban coffees on the menu. The food was good, just not what I'd personally call traditional Cuban. I started with the beef empanadas, which came covered in a mango salsa and a crema. Not traditional, but they still had good flavor. For my entree I went with the picadillo. The beef itself was tasty, though it came topped with that same mango salsa that I don't think it needed. The rice was on the plain side for me. The dish also came with a plantain of some kind that was hard to place, somewhere between a maduro and a tostone. We also tried the yuca frita, and the texture was a little different than what I'm used to. There's clearly a following here and the flavors are good in their own right. It just leans more its own style than classic Cuban, so I'd go in expecting a fresh take rather than the traditional version.

My partner and I both got their steak offerings with myself getting a steak chimichanga and him getting a steak burrito. The fries and beans sides were also good although the fries were our favorite, the menu doesn't offer this as a side for meals but our server was able to make the substitution. We left feeling super lucky that lovely family restaurants like this exist and that we got to experience their food. Can't reccomend this spot enough, they truly care about what they are putting out and it shows. If thats not enough to convince you they also give you free chips and salsa!

When we got to the parking lot a little before 8 tonight, we were worried because the entire parking lot was full. The cars must have been for someone else because when we went in, there were only customers in 2 booths. There were several employees standing in the corner in the back that saw us come in, so we took a booth thinking they would be with us in a minute. BOY WERE WE WRONG! There were two women I assume were waitresses there. One stayed in the back, which I am thankful for, because the girls at Hooters wear more clothing than she had on. The other walked by us to another customers table, walked back to the kitchen, came back with a to go box for the customer, walked back by us to resume conversation with the other people standing there, a FIFTH PASS to go back to that table and pick up plates, back by us to the kitchen, back to the table to pick up glasses, back to the kitchen with the dirty glasses, and yes, another pass to go wipe down the table. In case you are counting, as I started to after the 4th pass, that is TEN TIMES THE WAITRESS WALKED BY US AND IGNORED THE FACT WE WERE THERE! No one ever acknowledged we were sitting there even though at least three people saw us come in and sit down. After 10 minutes, we got up and left. As we had taken a booth across from the bar it was a long walk to the door and yet no one said anything. I could not believe how we were (or weren't) treated.
