    Maya's Chips & Salsa

I used to only order takeout. Then I ordered a catering order for my birthday of birria empanadas and nachos and they were amazing so much so that I had to come check out the ambiance of the restaurant and sit indoors and it was great. The food is so good from the birria quesadillas to the birria empanadas the southwest empanadas and even the chips and dip are amazing chips and sauce are amazing. The guac is one of my favorites in the city. The staff is amazing and it was just a great time overall.

My burrito and fries...about is the and guacamole and look at the texture and coloring the chips.

I met a friend for lunch and what a gem of a place this was. It is not hard to find, be sure to turn into the paved parking area (there is additional parking on a grass and mud area). I was greeted warmly with a big smile, a nice change of pace from many places. Interior is comfortable with mostly wood and the most sturdy furniture in a restaurant I've ever seen. Along with adult beverages I had a house beef burrito which came with either chips or French fries (I know) which were home made, not overly salty or greasy and very good. Now their regular chips are home made so they are unique and tasty. They also have excellent guacamole for a restaurant. Food quality was very good and very filling. Neither one of us had desert which tells the quantity of meals plus the price was very fair. Service was pitch perfect with the right amount of attention when needed. Truthfully my experience was better than expected. I will make it a point to go there...you should too.

My disclaimer is that I do NOT like Mexican food, but I would eat here every day if I could afford to. I'm not sure if this is the case, but for me, its the cheese. I think they might use a different type of cheese that I actually like. I've tried several things on the menu. I mostly go during happy hour, so the empanadas, tacos, and birria fries are some of the dishes I've enjoyed. I've also been outside of happy hour and order the same things. I also love their chips and salsa. The pickiest child in my house even enjoys the food here. They've had the little donkey chicken burrito meal (they sub the beans and rice for fries). Their kids meals are a pretty good portion and filling enough for even an adult just from looking at the plates. The staff were kind, attentive, and understood exactly what I needed for my children before I had the chance to ask. I love that it is always clean and I've never had to wait to be seated. Maya's will always be a top choice.

SO good. Very authentic. Flavor is amazing!! Service was great, the owner/manager was walking around talking with customers. Booths were comfortable, decorations are super cute. This is a GREAT spot!

All I can say is YUM! This place is such a hidden gem. The chips are one of kind with their sprinkled with their special seasoning. Their salsa is chunky and so flavorful. I had the Tacos de Birria and WOW! The meet was so tender. The sauce was so flavorful. The pickled onions with the perfect topping. The service was great! We will be returning.

Customer service 10/10. They were all so kind! Chicken quesadilla, amazing! It's was so buttery and cheesy Al's had so much chicken in it. Fries needed sauce.... But not the spicy sauce that comes with it. We will get that again but maybe with a side of queso to put on there... the empanadas were very bland. Even with the dipping sauces. I wasn't a fan of that. Ribeye, delicious. The place was very cute. We will def eat there again!

Amazing experience all around. The service was truly excellent--we arrived close to closing time and ended up staying a few minutes after, chatting with the servers, and they were incredibly kind and welcoming about it. You could tell they genuinely cared about making sure we had a great experience. We ordered an assortment of dips and dishes, and everything was really enjoyable. One standout for me was the chips--they had spices and seasoning on them, which I loved and thought was a unique touch. I know that might be a personal preference, as not everyone in our group was as into it, but it definitely stood out to me in a good way. I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were delicious and very satisfying. On top of the great food and service, the restaurant was decorated for Christmas and it looked amazing, adding such a fun and cozy atmosphere. I would absolutely come back and highly recommend this place.

    Leftover Chicken Fajitas

Never been to Sandston near the airport, but passed a lot of food options for eating. We decided on this place. You can see it from the street because it has lights decorating it and music you can hear outside. There is definitely a vibe as you come in. It is not a huge place, but that's what makes this place more personable and their quick service is also a plus. I learned online they have a second restaurant on Broad Street. Everyone is friendly and nice. On this trip, we started with their complimentary chips. They packed some flavor and not your typical chips you buy at a store. Online, it shows you have to pay for them, but at the restaurant it was free and got seconds. My husband ordered the Birria Quesadilla, as you will see in many of my reviews. He devoured it, so he must have loved it. I had the chicken fajita which sizzled its way to the table and came with a free facial. LOL. It was really good with big portions. Had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. This is a great food spot. I will continue to visit.

The back to back calls after I was hung upnon and ignored
    Darreca L.

Called to place a order for pick up. I got hung up on. Then I realized that maybe the person answering the phone didnt speak English. He was listing for key items on the menu but didnt understand anything else. So I called back twice. No answer. I decided to call from my other phone and someone immediately picked up. I asked if there was someone available who spoke English so I could place my order, I then started speaking Spanish and I was hung up on again. I called back 8 times and no one answered. I would never spend my money at a restaurant that gets upset with me because they dont speak English. I live out of the country and have to speak a foreign language everyday, so I was willing to speak Spanish to try to communicate. But hanging up on me and then refusing to answer is absolutely unacceptable for any reason. A restaurant should be welcoming business and being accommodating to guests to help them place their order. Whoever answer the phone was very rude. I hope it wasn't the owner because that is NOT how businesses should be ran. A complete disappointment of an establishment. Ill take my $200 order to another restaurant that respects people, especially ones who dont speak Spanish right away.

What a hidden gem!!! This place is tucked away by the airport and has the cutest exterior. The inside is small and quaint but decorated tastefully. Now for the real deal... the margaritas and food are to die for. There was nothing we tried that was just "okay" - it was all an absolute hit. On top of this, the service was quick and so friendly. We accidentally left our to-go box on the table, and we pulled out of our parking space to find our server standing outside grinning at us with the box in hand. I am so glad this place was recommended to us and I can't wait to try more of the menu.

Maya's Latin Kitchen offers a great variety of dishes and the food itself was excellent. We tried their steak, shrimp fajitas, chilaquiles burritos, chicken tacos, huevos rancheros, along with guacamole, chips, and Jarritos in our few visits: everything had authentic taste and delicious. Unfortunately, the customer service was disappointing. The staff seemed more focused on tips than on providing a pleasant dining experience, which left a bad impression despite the quality of the food. Overall, the food was great, but the service definitely needs improvement.

House margarita on taco Tuesday, with complimentary chips and salsa. Delish!
    Amy F.

Visiting from San Diego, my expectations were high but I was not disappointed. Just happened to be taco Tuesday and I enjoyed three tacos (fish, birria, and steak), with a house margarita and the most deliciously seasoned basket of complimentary chips and salsa. Friendly service and the place was packed! They definitely need a larger parking lot.

We were also seated in a separate area so it was only our group in the room, which was nice, otherwise the restaurant itself can get quite loud.
