I can't believe I haven't written a review yet for Noah's. This place is the real deal. I came more often when I lived in Fenway, but I still find myself trekking over from the South End. Everything I've had here has been delicious, so much so that I make myself a little sick each time I eat here from eating too much. (This is no one's fault but my own.) I really like their Tibetan sizzling beef, fish fillet stew with house fermented mustard greens, and a chicken dish I can't recall the name of - I think it may be the chongqing spicy chicken. The atmosphere and lighting is warm and comfy. Well lit but not too bright. The only issue is during busy times, it's hard to get a seat and when you do, it feels kind of rushed. The server explicitly told us we had one hour to eat and leave. Lots of pressure. The Food~ I've had Szechuan style fish fillet in multiple places in Boston, but I would put this as one of the top. The soup wasn't too oily, it was thick with a nice kick, there was a lot of fish, and the veggies didn't melt away in the soup. The fish was super tender and a lot of meat to it. Perfect to pair with some rice. The stir fry beef with mix mushroom had some good textures to it. A lot of different kind of mushrooms with a good soy sauce based and black pepper flavor. The eggplant was my least favorite and the server forgot about the dish. It came out 45 minutes late, so not sure I can give it a fair rating. We came here with a group of four on a weeknight and the space was decently busy - no need to wait though which was nice. We were seated once all of us arrived and placed our order pretty quickly. They recommended the same amount of entrees as people, however with an appetizer this proved to be a little too much food - I'd just say go with your gut. The serving sizes are decent (not too large) so you'll fill up as much as you'd expect. Other than this interaction, service was overall okay - not amazing, but got the job done. Everything was pretty good, although I think the price was way too expensive for what was given. The quality was decent however which made the meal pretty delicious. I think the eggplant and tofu dishes were probably my favorites - they did a very good job! Overall, I probably wouldn't come back unless someone else wanted to try it due to the price, but the meal itself was okay. The staff here are very proud of their food and rightfully so-- I only tried a couple dishes my first time here but the food was super impressive and I can't wait until I come back! We got the braised pork belly with preserved mustard green ($13.99) and the Szechuan style beef in spicy broth ($20.99). Most of the dishes are in the $15-45 range depending on what you order, but the portions are quite big. The above two dishes plus a bowl of rice ($2) each was more than enough to fill two of us, and we ended up with leftovers to take home. I had a bad experience ordering braised pork belly with preserved mustard greens from a different restaurant in Boston so I was hoping that Noah's Kitchen would redeem the dish for me. I was super impressed with how they prepared it! The braised pork is super flavorful-- the soy braise soaks into the meat so that every bite is packed with umami. This dish is a good choice for those who like fatty cuts like pork belly, because it comes with so much fat! The fatty layer at the top of the meat melts in your mouth. The mustard greens had a similar soy braise but added a refreshing crunch to the bite of meat. For 5 juicy pieces of meat, I feel that $13.99 is a great price for the quality that you pay for. Sometimes Szechuan style beef in spicy broth is too greasy and salty, but the one served at Noah's Kitchen is the best preparation I've encountered in the Boston area so far. The bowl is PACKED with tender pieces of beef soaking in the spicy, savory broth. The broth is just salty enough to add flavor without being too overwhelming. There is also cabbage, celery, and pieces of scallions in the dish. This was so delicious with rice! I highly recommend getting rice with these dishes. They are not too salty on their own but you definitely want some rice to soak up all the delicious sauces! Also, the rice comes with yummy furikake on top. The rice bowls here are on the smaller side so I would recommend getting one bowl per person. I left feeling full but not "heavy." The server even gave me recommendations for cooking tofu with the leftover beef broth that I was taking home! I had such a great experience here. I highly recommend this spot! read more

Wow!!! This is the best sichuan food I've had in Boston!! It's one of my favorite cuisines, and I feel like Noah's really elevates it. My favorite dish was the fish fillet with mustard greens. A lovely ambience and fiery, authentic Sichuan food! We shared a bunch of plates family style and everything was amazingly done. The menu is quite extensive and I regrettably don't remember the exact names of the dishes we ordered, but some highlights included cold noodles (there was a chicken version and pork version, both of which had an amazing sauce), the ma po tofu, stir-fry beef with pepper bowl, and the chicken with cucumbers. We also got a pitcher of plum juice to share, which was unique and refreshing. We also got the crispy shrimp and sautéed long beans with eggplant, but I was less a fan of those (the beans and eggplant dish was a little too soupy in texture for me). This is definitely the best Sichuan restaurant that I've been to in Boston. We came here on a business dinner in a group of six and ordered a bunch of different dishes to share. We were seated on a round table with a rotating table top so it was quite easy to share the food. The service is efficient and the ambiance is okay, but the food is the main event. - The boiled Sichuan style fish was delicious but a little greasy. - The tripe with beef was excellent -- very flavorful - The chongqin spicy chicken was filled with red peppers and crunchy chicken. Not for the faint of heart but again excellent. - The sautéed garlic pea leaves were good, but typical. - The pork belly roll was outstanding -- great flavors - The crispy rice with shrimp balls was sweet -- not my favorite but helped break down the spiciness of the other dishes - The sautéed bullfrog in spicy sauce was flavorful but very bony. Best Chinese food I have had in the Boston area ever. I stopped in for a quick lunch. Got the black bean fish rice bowl. It was a very generous portion--easily shared. The fish was delicate and perfectly lightly fried, the black bean sauce was just the right amount--not swimming in sauce, and there was a pickled cabbage accompaniment in the bowl that was fantastic with the right amount of acidity to balance this delicately delicious dish. Wait staff was very nice and super attentive. There is beer and wine (limited selection, but it's there). The squid appetizer was super tasty and not overly breaded. Just perfect. I had the sweet and sour fish (pretty spicy) and it was wonderful. The food temp, too, very hot so you can kind of eat slowly and not worry about the food getting cold too fast. Came for the spicy food, stayed for the tea. The spice level on some of the dishes like the beef noodle soup and the mapo tofu was less than what I anticipated. But the Mongolian sizzling beef was almost too spicy for me. The overall quality is good and the service was nice, albeit a little slow as they seemed understaffed in the pandemic. Their current hours say closes at 9pm, but they let patrons stay past 10pm with no apparent rush. I would come back for a nice dinner in a nicely designed space with the best tea I've ever had from a Chinese restaurant in Boston. The sauteed beef with mushrooms in black pepper sauce was disappointing - it was made with beef strips instead of thicker beef slices. Noah's is better than average for Sichuan Chinese food. We decided to grab takeout there after not being able to get food from Blossom Bar. We ordered the Dan Dan noodles, fried pork dumplings, eggplant and long beans, and kung pao chicken. The Dan Dan noodles were our favorite. The ground pork, garlic, and Sichuan pepper was well flavored and the noodles were nice and chewy. The eggplant and long beans were also a great veggie side. I'm obsessed with Noah's Kitchen after my long-overdue first visit. I was absolutely delighted with everything I had. The menu is so expansive and everything looks so good so it was hard to choose what to order. We had five people and so were able to try a variety of dishes. We tried two classic Szechuan style dishes -- the Szechuan spicy fish fillets and the Chongqing spicy chicken. Even though these dishes taste pretty similar anywhere I go I was surprised because they somehow managed to elevate the dishes and pack them with unique and powerful flavors. The fish was very tender with a great savory flavor while the chicken had a strong numbing spicy punch. I thoroughly enjoyed both of these dishes and would definitely get the fish fillet again. We also got the squid with cumin, which was amazing! It's quite a sight to behold as it comes skewered and covered in bountiful spicy chili sauce. I thought the squid was quite tender and well-cooked, and the spicy topping had a tiny bit of sweetness in addition the bold spicy and savory flavors. Surprisingly, though the three dishes that we ordered looked like they would taste pretty similar, they all had unique flavors that I enjoyed switching between. It's clear they know how to work with spice. We also tried two vegetable dishes. The eggplant with soy sauce and bonito flakes had more of a Japanese flavor profile but the eggplant was perfectly cooked and tender and the flavors were delicious. The garlic pea leaves were well-cooked and had good flavor. I would say neither of these dishes were outstanding but they were solid and served their purpose. We also got the shrimp egg rolls which I wouldn't say were very special. They were small bites with good texture but I didn't taste much shrimp. We also got the sticky rice dessert which was fried bars of sticky rice with sweet syrup and soybean powder. This was quite good though I didn't love the syrup. Also, their rice is really good! It seemed like some sort of sweet/sticky rice but the individual grains didn't stick together so it wasn't glutinous. The rice was a bit al dente and went perfectly with the food. Normally I don't like rice that much but this rice made me want to keep eating more. Overall I was definitely the most impressed by all of the spicy options and can't wait to try more of their menu. Our server was really nice and gave very helpful recommendations. Honestly this is the best Szechuan food I've had in Boston by far and I can't wait to come back. Though Brookline is a bit of a trek for me, it's closer than New York. Everything at Noah's Kitchen is well thought-out. The ambiance and servers are great and the food is excellent. Every time I get a jonesing for Bullfrog Casserole, I have to go to Noahs. It's the best in town and nowhere else can you get that many frogs for that price. Though you might not have guessed it from the name, this place is in fact pretty authentic!! I was expecting a fusion-y, overpriced Chinese restaurant (also considering that this is in central Brookline), but it's actually run and operated by Chinese people! Everything on the menu is GOOD. My favorites are the crispy fish (yu xiang yu pian), the spicy Tibetan beef, volcano ribs (huo xiang pai gu), and eggplant. They seem to rotate out menu items every once in a while. They also have really good cocktails. Pricewise, Noah's Kitchen is more expensive than your average Chinese restaurant. Most main dishes are priced around $30. It's money well-spent though IMO -- well-made, authentic Chinese food SHOULD be respectfully priced. Noah's Kitchen is pretty strict with their reservations, so make sure you are on time -- they will give your spot away to a walk-in reservation. They limit you to 1.5 hours, but I don't think that's strictly enforced. The ambiance inside is lively! read more

Hands down one of the best Szechuan restaurants in Boston. Definitely call for a reservation beforehand, because the restaurant is always packed with young international students who are harboring this well-kept secret. Szechuan food is my favorite cuisine, and I always judge a Szechuan restaurant by its ma po tofu. Noah's Kitchen serves it with the perfect level of spice, while maintaining the integrity of the black beans that are integral to the dish. We also love the pork belly with mustard greens, and the Tibetan-style sizzling beef which is served with the fluffiest naan. Every dish at Noah's Kitchen is clearly made with so much love and authenticity. Everything from the music to the dinnerware to the service contributes to the fantastic experience. Delicious umami food to put it simply. Tibetan sizzling beef - Not overrated, so fresh and tender! Spicy boiling fish fillet - I will *always* order this dish in a Szechuan restaurant and Noah's was one of the best I've ever had! It was spicier than expected to my delight. It was tasty but the oil/peppers were slightly burnt. Dan dan noodles - Ordered extra and they certainly delivered. This version did not contain mustard greens or veggies. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed given the rave reviews. I found it to lack salt (soy sauce) and tang (Chinese vinegar) not to mention the chili oil used in the sauce tasted burnt. I brought it home and added some soy sauce and greens which improved it a lot. I couldn't believe how quickly I got my food.. seriously in under 5 minutes my four dishes came out! The staff was friendly but they didn't check in after they took my order, forgot my drink, and then took ages to flag down to grab the check. It wasn't that busy so maybe just got overlooked. A friend recommend this place so we came to try it out. The interior design looks very pretty but it was very noisy and we(3 of us) had a hard time hearing our conversation. Food was ok, but not worth the price. We order 6 dishes, 1 dish never came. We try to order fried rice, it had a list of fried rice on the menu, but the waitress say ,we are not serving fried rice. And yet, we see the next table is having some sort of fried rice. But my friend insist, and finally the waitress say.. ok, we will make it. So they just fried the tasteless rice with some egg. Then the Bill came to $132, and we paid $150. The waitress was shaking her head and just stood there. So I ask her "is there a problem? "She does not say anything n tell me ..the total is $132... so I repeated ...the Bill is $132, and we paid $150, what is the problem?? She just stood there, while the 3 of us looking at each other and don't know what to do. Then she kept pointing out $132 is our total... ???? Yes we know, we say we gave you $150... and...??? What is the problem? ..then one of my friend gave her $5 more.Then this time she was satisfied and ask if we need the change....?? Huh?? So I said YES!!!!. I went here with some friends recently and I LOVED all the dishes they had. It was pretty busy so we had to wait to get seated but well worth the wait if you're looking for some spicy Chinese food. It was a very clean restaurant, with good ambience and lighting. Some dishes I really liked were the Chinese French fries, fish soup, egg plant dish. I think some of the dishes are very spicy but you can ask for different spiciness levels for some of the dishes. The mochi ice cream in black sesame soup dessert was a miss though. The mochi had a texture of very old mochi that was left in the freezer for a very long time. I wouldn't recommend the desserts but definitely go for the entrees! I will be coming back to try their lunch menus and to try their other dishes again for sure :) really enjoyed the food here. read more

Their spicy beef noodle soup was overly oily (half of the soup container was oil) and beef chunks were dry and flavorless. Spicy peppercorn chicken was more like dry karaage. Sliced beef and tripe looked more like pastrami in broth. Ordered 2 appetizers and 3 entree for $70+. Taste and quality all lacking for this price. Would not recommend. read more
