This review is solely regarding Dr. McBean: My dog had clearly had a stroke. She showed all the signs: sudden loss of balance, weakness on one side of the body, strabismus in one eye. And instead of treating her for a stroke (which, as an RN, I could immediately tell was the case), they gave me worthless eyedrops (that did nothing), and told me "she's old, it's arthritis". I explained that a dog doesn't go from running around and playing like a healthy dog with perfect vision that never had any eye issues one day, to literally waking up the next day shaking, limping on one side, with one eyeball completely pointed in the opposite direction, and barely able to stand. When I sent an email to the vet (Dr. McBean) a week later, stating that the eyedrops have done nothing, she responded with "you seem to be unhappy with our service, so we suggest you find help elsewhere". Brought the dog to another vet who took one look at her, actually listened to what I had to say about the dog's history, and said that considering she's shown no improvement at all, and she went from perfectly healthy to her current state over the course of a few hours, it's not vestibular disease, and shows all the signs of being a stroke. He also said, "we'd need a ct scan to confirm (which unfortunately I didn't have the money for) but a dog doesn't go from running to barely being able to walk over the course of a few hours, because of arthritis." He immediately started her on corticosteroids to reduce brain inflammation (which Noah's Ark refused to do), and told me the eyedrops that were given to me at Noah's Ark were pointless. I've been taking 3 of my dogs to Noah's Ark for over a decade, and never had a problem with Dr. Abraham. But this new Dr. McBean is a joke of a veterinarian. Find vet care (literally) anywhere else. read more

TW: Pet death We went to Noah's Ark to have my elderly cat put to sleep. She was 16 years old (a patient there all that time) and had gone from 12lbs to 4lbs because she had a tumor on her lung that was pressing on her esophagus. She could no longer eat or breathe properly. We had taken her to the hospital 10 days ago and they gave me pain relievers and steroids to make her comfortable for the time being. She was still jumping and purring and playing, just not eating. They said to start thinking of an end plan in the next couple of weeks. Just for some context, this cat saved my entire family's lives by alerting us to a house fire. She also indirectly saved 70 cats by making the Munnelly sisters cat lovers. I have had her since she was 5 months old. She was very often my favorite creature in my house. Now, on to the bizarre situation at hand. First, the tech was awesome, as the techs there always are. She asked us all the questions about why we were there. I cried while I explained and told her I didn't want my cat to suffer. The poor cat was just in a doorway crying for an entire day. Enough was enough, it was selfish of me to keep her around. We could hear the tech telling Dr. McBean the whole thing. Dr. McBean came in and asked us to repeat all of it, while I cried. She then DID AN EXAM on my dying cat THAT SHE CHARGED $85 FOR. Mo's legs literally gave out from under her as the Dr was doing it. I begged her to stop. She continued undaunted. We offered to give her the records from the other place, she just kept going. When my cat was back in my arms her heart was pounding. She clawed my chest trying to get up higher and away from the situation. Why make my poor old girl scared again like that on her last day? In her last moments? In most cases (3 different vets, over a dozen different cats) there is no exam. The questions were asked over the phone or in the waiting room. When you get to the exam room the cat is taken to another room for sedation. While there, away from their caregivers the vet would insert a catheter in their front leg for the final drug. The vet would hand the cat back to whoever brought them in and give the option to let them pass in your arms or on a table while you pet them. Then they put the medicine in the catheter and the cat passes peacefully away. I put Mo on the table right in front of me to be sedated. After she was sedated I picked her back up and she was shuddering. I was afraid she was suffering. I asked them to come do the final medicine before she got more upset. I had to put her back on the table. This is when Dr. McBean began to poke around my cat to insert the catheter. Lying on the table in front of me while I sobbed. After 5 or 6 times, I kept apologizing to my poor cat. She deserved so much better. I will always feel terrible I put her in this position. I asked "Can't you do it another way?". Dr. McBean said no. The Dr. poked her multiple times (at least 8) in 3 legs. Dr. McBean then flipped my sweet girl over so I could see her furry little face. The cat was now clearly dead. She died from the sedative and didn't need to spend the last seconds of her life on a table in a vets office instead of in my arms. Dr. McBean took a very sick sedated animal from the person who loved her most in the world and let her die on an exam table while she stuck needles in her. At this point, while Dr. McBean still poking, the tech also realized Momo was gone. She was just carrying on POKING MY DEAD CAT saying "no" every time it didn't work. My toddler does this also. It was way less cute from Dr. McBean and it's not even a good look on my toddler. When we asked her why she makes this event as traumatic as she possibly could she just let us know it's how they do it there. She didn't seem to care that she could have inserted the catheter when the cat was not in front of the person who has loved her for 16 years and is sobbing. She just maintained that she always does it that way. She said she puts it in the back leg as opposed to the front, no matter what. It was horrendous. My sister spoke to the office manager who was quite apologetic and they took money off the bill but nothing will ever give me my cat's last minutes back. She deserved to feel safe and loved not like a terrified pin cushion. I have never left a euthanasia without feeling some sort of peace. This experience will haunt me the rest of my life. read more

The stars are for the amazing vet techs. The doctor is the reason for the missing stars. Having to put a pet to sleep is a terrible experience. To be able to make it 10 times worse takes a special kind of incompetent, cruel and uncaring person. Meet Dr. McBean. She is completely awful and made a bad day into a literal nightmare. I have woken up several times replaying it in mind. On top of the fact that she was awful, their prices are over the top. A cremation was $200 more than another vet we have subsequently used. It is a practice to be avoided. read more

I brought my little girl here for her regular checkups, and shots. There was always great service and help. I can tell the staff in the front changed as well & I have to say have been even better and more helpful. My biggest gratitude is to my daughter's doctor. Dr. McBean, she has shown my fur baby so much love & care & is very informative with everything. My girl hurt herself and needed surgery and it was sad and scary but Dr.McBean was very calming and spoke through the whole procedure and recovery process as well. Dr. McBean as well as the staff followed up on Princess (my dogs name) afterwards and made sure she made a full, easy, recovery. I highly recommend seeing Dr. McBean - from just our talk during my pups appointment I can see she genuinely seems to love and care for all animals. Also, my biggest thing, is she cuts to the point of things. I didn't feel taken advantage of nor have I ever felt that I was overspending or paying for things not needed which is a big thing to me. I have friends who have gone to other places and I've heard some stories of them going back and forth trying to find the solution of the problem. I recommended Dr. McBean and within one visit she figured out the issue to my friends pet problem and now they have a planned solution! 100 out of 10! read more

Dr D and her staff are very caring. Called on a Friday and my pet was seen the following Monday. She performed a fine needle aspiration for a small tumor. Ultrasound and X-rays were scheduled within a week of the cancer diagnosis and within a week or two of that, surgery was performed. Dr D's professionalism, knowledge and follow up phone calls were reassuring and empathetic. I adopted my 8month old kitten Nadia from a shelter & she came home feeling sick & not eating. I was worried but lucky for me found Noah's ark and the receptionist filled me in immediately! The people were kind & helped bring my baby back to her normal self and even check in with me the next day. Thank you staff! read more

This review is a bit delayed since I have been patiently waiting for this practice to respond/follow up. However that has never happened. We initially found out about this place when our 14 year old dog got injured at another place nearby and needed to get urgently seen by a vet. They took great care of my dog and stitched her up beautifully. However, our last weekend overnight boarding stay with them my two dogs came out miserable. They were overheated, severely dehydrated, smelled like urine and were visibly upset and stressed. It also seemed like someone tried to mask the urine smell with a room spray or some type of cleaner. They smelled terrible. After mentioning this to the practice, I was told I will receive a call back with an explanation and hopefully some type of reimbursement and acknowledgment of their negligence but no call followed even after another follow up. read more

I've been going to Noah's Ark for over a year and during that time there has been tremendous improvements, including veterinarians who don't rush you as you advocate for your pets needs, a new polite and professional front office, and a more up-to-date practice where you can confirm your vet appt via email and communications that inform you of any upcoming vax needs. I specifically see Dr. McBean, who goes beyond my wildest expectations in making sure my lovely fur baby is taken care of with the utmost care. Dr. McBean is extremely knowledgeable, has fantastic bedside manner, and really promotes a professional and enjoyable work environment. In truth, Dr. McBean saved Noah's Ark for me and my family. My first experience with Noah's Ark was with a vet who is no longer with the practice. I had tried to get an appt with Dr. McBean, who came highly recommended, but was told by the previous front office employee (who is also no longer with the practice) that I should go with this other vet. I found it odd that the front office person was trying to steer me towards this particular Vet. Unfortunately, my fur baby was sick and I had to take the next available appointment but I knew I would go back to Dr. McBean on the next appointment . In my initial appointment, the vet was very curt and rushed me off without answering my questions. As a first time dog owner, whose pup was sick, this wasn't what I had in mind when selecting a vet practice to handle my pet's care. I also was able to put a face to the front office person who was not friendly, was quite rude, and abrasive. I knew then that if I didn't get my next appointment with the vet of my choice I would have to find a new Vet practice. Luckily, all it took was one initial appointment with Dr. McBean to melt away my concerns about Noah's Ark as my go to vet practice! I am so happy to see and experience the improvements. I highly recommend this veterinary practice! read more

I have been a grateful client of Noah's Ark Veterinary for almost a decade, and the experience has always been compassionate, friendly, and professional. I have been here through celebrations of joy and incredible heartbreak--through it all, the technicians and the veterinarians, especially Dr. Abraham and Dr. Weinstock, have provided the utmost care to my pets that I have been so lucky to have been part of my family through the years. The team at Noah's Ark here has treated my pets as if they were their own and I could not be more appreciative of their hard work and passion towards animal health every single time. Even during and after the pandemic, the quality of this practice remains dedicated to its clients and patients and I treasure all the experiences--the good and bad--I have had the pleasure of having the company here with the team at Noah's Ark. read more

they need to think more about their clients then putting money in their pocket. I'm very disgusted after 18 years of taking my dog there that I let them know that my dog passed away when I called them about it and told them that my dog didn't eat for three days. I did not receive one follow up phone call from any member of the staff to see if my dog was OK which she was not. I had to put her down in the emergency room on Avenue let them know what happened and I've been bringing my dog to practice for 18 years. They don't know anything about animals sadly I can't say for everyone that safe but a few of them just seem to think about the money and not the animal that they're helping and I think I said being a loyal customer for all that time, my dog should've been, honored a little more read more

Dr. Abraham is a very Kind, Transparent and Attentive Dr. My dog ChiChi has been having various health issues. Oh gosh, all of the words in the world couldn't describe how much I love these people. I've been going there for years, and today I brought in Oreo, my newly adopted cat. 1. She is a total faker and has everyone wrapped around her finger. 2. Everyone went out of their way to make sure she was ok. They went above and beyond for us. 3. Richie and Sam, thank you. I can't remember everyone's name that was there tonight, but thank you all! 4. I will never go to another vet as long as I am in NY. Update: She had to have three teeth pulled. We loves Noah's Ark!!! All of my son's dogs and my own dog as well have been coming here for years!!! I don't know why I never left a review but I felt I should now with how hard I have seen them working during the Covid situation. The front desk was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the new protocols. Techs are top notch! Doctors are like no other!! Very understanding and helpful. Times are rough but this place has been non-stop as I have seen the last few times I've been there during this situation. Yes it's hard on us but just think how hard is has been on them! Thank you to everyone at Noah's Ark for continued amazing service even during the hardest of times! read more

A week after we had to put our beloved Chihuahua to sleep (at another vet in the area who was much kinder and more compassionate), we got an email from them saying it was time to bring our dog in for his yearly check up. After bringing our pet to Noah's Ark for over a decade (Dr. McBean was the only one who kept us coming back, she's great), we were offered no compassion or condolences as they didn't even pay attention to us losing our pet, and continued trying to get money out of us after our loss. Truly disgusting. read more

Over the last 12 years, I've been bringing my 10 dogs to Noah's Ark Veterinary Practice. Thanks to Dr. Abraham, and the incredible care that he has given my dogs, they all lived well beyond their normal life expectancy, even though most of my dogs have had special needs. Most were/are blind and deaf, as that is what I rescue. I now have 2 blind and deaf Dachshund's remaining. As a business owner myself, I am aware of how important it is that a company/office/practice provides the best service and care to its customers. My experience with the Noah's Ark, up until recently, has been nothing short of wonderful. Throughout the years, I have recommended many many pet parents to Noah's Ark (more specifically to Dr. Abraham). I've always raved about how personalized the care there is, and how Elise and Richie remember all my dogs' names. They have always been loving, considerate and kind, and have ALWAYS been accommodating and attentive to my dogs and their special needs, as well as my needs as a worried pet parent. Elise manned that front desk like a fine-tuned ship. If she said Doc would get back to me, he always did. When I needed special considerations for my dogs' dentals and or other procedures due to their genetic mutation, they went above and beyond to make me feel safe for my dog's wellbeing as well as did everything to make sure my dogs where in the best care and monitored them above and beyond. Dr. Abraham is the most caring, kindest, and considerate VET I have EVERY had for my dogs. So why am I now giving a 1-star review? Well firstly, because it did not give me an option to give a -1-star review. Sometime over the last few months, the wonderful front desk staff, whom I have grown to love, respect and appreciate, have been replaced. The new people are disingenuous, neglectful, rude ...incompetent, and don't really seem to care about the pet-parents or the pet. I had called the office, the day after my appointment with my dog (an appointment that cost me over $800 for a variety of tests to determine what was wrong with her, as she was sick) just to get information and clarity on one of the meds that Dr. Abraham prescribed that was a very important medicine. The receptionist told me that Dr. Abraham was not in, and I did not need to give the medicine, and I could wait a couple of days until Dr. Abraham was in to talk to me about it. It was not her place to dispense medical advice, so I asked to speak to a vet tech, or another Dr. and she told me; "NO" and hung up on me. In my distress, I called back again, and the receptionist lifted the phone and hung it up. I called back repeatedly, and she did the same thing repeatedly. Because of her cold, heartless and irresponsible actions, my sick dog went without her medication for several days until I was able to speak to Dr. Abraham. When I told Dr. Abraham about what happened, he was beyond upset, but told me his hands were tied to do anything about it. I then learned that Noah's Ark Veterinary practice is now part of a bigger corporation who removed any power that Dr. Abraham has over the front desk staff. To date, I continue to have issues with the new incompetent, disingenuous and uncaring front desk staff and office management. All I can say is "What a Shame!". Now Dr. Abraham is the only good thing left about Noah's Ark, along with a few long-time Techs. I hope he leaves to go to another practice so that I can follow him, or that this new incompetent management just brings Elise back, so that Noah's Ark can run efficiently and compassionately the way it used to. read more

Since Lori Weinstock left the practice has gone downhill. My pet was brought in for routine care. I was informed that sonogram test is $700 (after the fact). I love how the owner does not acknowledge that the practice is shady, because he knows his practice is crooked. The vets have nothing to do with the business practices and deceit. You're not petulant, because you're just a thief, trying to disguise poor business amongst some qualified vets. Fun Fact When I was waiting to pay, one of the front desk staff told a pet owner that she needs to bring in her pet every two weeks, because the dog was a few months old. I had been using the same vet for 35 years and I was very unhappy with him and it was just time for a change. My neighbors recommended Noah's Ark and I am so glad I took their advice. My two kittens had their first visit and they were so calm and cute, the vet and tech and staff were the best! They explained everything in a way that I could understand and never left me without a doubt for a second that they were looking for both mine and my kittens best interest. When it came down to the pricing they did offer to show me the prices before they went through with the rest including antibiotics and that put a relief in me because I knew before I walked out how much I would be charged. They even allowed me to use the check in voucher for their first visits which was super great I mean I would have paid it regardless for these guys but for them to honor it was such a nice gesture. They even said they'd give me a call to check up on them tomorrow which is really sweet of them. Once I was home I realized I might have heard wrong on how much to give one of my kittens and called them and they were super nice about getting the dosage cleared up for me. Some time ago, I found a kitten in the street and he had a wound on it's abdomen. I took him to Noah's Ark in Brooklyn. I have gone there many times with my very large dog to see the vet and for boarding and had been pleased. They treated the kitten and after a few days sent him home stating he had a touch of diahrea. He was sent home with a liquid to put in his mouth 2x a day and low-residue food. Well they did not tell me it would foam up in his mouth. He would spit it out immeditately. After a few days of struggling to treat him, I took him back and told them to keep him there and treat him. I picked him up 2 weeks later and he still had diarrhea. I was so pissed! I wasted so much money (just over $1,000) between boarding and medical bills, to only bring home a sick kitten again. I ended up having to go to another vet. This vet was very honest and understood that I had already spent a lot of money and offered a cheaper and easier solution. They gave my little kitty a shot and some pills. That was 100% easier to give him. He slowly got better. Wished I would have brought him there first. Could not imagine why Noah's Ark did not give me a pill, especially after I complained many many times about the liquid. For this reason, I would never go back or recommend. read more
