We have been clients of this location for more than 30 years. My last visit however had done nothing but caused more problems with one of my pets than I've ever had in my life time. I had gone my last visit because my home became infested with fleas and I needed to get treatment. Here's where the issue is. My pets are indoor and truly do not require any vaccinations unless they are a problem, which they are not. I had asked if they could treat them for the fleas now and I would come back and get them vaccinated, they refused and told me I had to get them vaccinated or leave without the flea treatment that was needed. Some time has passed and one of my fur babies has had a very bad reaction to the vaccination they received. They have become aggressive to others in the house, and to people to the house, they have chewed off all of their fur and are showing severe aggressive behavior towards the other fur babies in the house. They have also started to defecate and spray all over the house. They are showing severe anxiety which when we have tried to medicate, caused more problems than solved. Trust me when I say this, this location has changed so bad that I have gone to find a different vet after 30+ years at this location because the staff (not the doctors) does not care about the patients concerns, only about the all mighty dollar and what BS they can sell you for their profit. Avoid this place if you value your pets sanity and well being. read more

I just moved to Staten Island from Brooklyn and was looking all over to find a good vet for my dog and cat. One day, my dog Roy left leg was suddenly holding on the air and seem pain to put it back down. So I was urgent searching from yelp and called to CompleteCare since it's not far from my home and they have the spot available. Dr. San Giorgio is amazing and knowledgeable. He go through every steps before the process and explain to me why it caused his knee to that. He then did an injection for Roy and said just need to wait till it heel by itself which might take at least few months unless I want to do a surgery which can fix right away. But I don't think it's that seriously to do it by surgery. So I decided to bring him home first and see how it go. Then I brought him back after 10days for recheck with X-ray to make sure his bone doesn't have any issue because he still hanging the leg up sometime. It had been passed like what, 2 months? Finally he's walking like normal but I won't say 100% recovery because he's a senior now. I'll definitely come back for any issue and recommend you to book in advance. I wish I had read some of the reviews before going to this place. When I first called and asked how long the healing period for a male cat would be after being neutered, I was told two to three days. This is a stray cat that hangs out in my yard that I gradually began letting inside and feeding, and have become a part time care taker for. I took the cat for a few bloodwork appointments prior to the neutering, and while the staff was well aware of my relationship with the cat, it wasn't until minutes before the procedure, after I had already made arrangements to stay at home for two days with the cat, that I was told he would need to wear a cone for two weeks in order to heal properly. When I explained that I was not in a position to do this, the vet just kind of shruggingly said "well, if you can't, then just keep him inside for as long as you can." Fast forward to now, the cat has a big incision that he will NOT stop licking at if I take the cone off for even a minute. I had a knowledgeable friend come to take a look, and she told me that this cat can absolutely not be allowed outside for at least ten days. This is a massive inconvenience and a source of stress for myself as well as the cat. The cat is not used to being stuck indoors, and I have no choice but to leave him to his own devices when I leave for work. I'm 3 days in with at least another week to go, maybe longer. If they had told me it was a two week recovery period from the outset, I could have planned for this better, or perhaps opted to not have the cat neutered at all. As for now, my life is pretty much on hold while I spend as much time as possible at home with a miserable cat. read more

Had a terrible experience with Complete Care Veterinary Center. They had been our dog's vet for over 14 years. Our dog recently began to have difficulty sitting and getting up ... hip problems. Finally, this past Tuesday, he could not get up at all. We tried calling Complete Care Veterinary Center, but only got the answering machine, even during business hours. Left a message, but no one ever got back to us. Tried to stop at office during business hours, but no one was there, and there was no signage on door. Information on website is outdated. Finally reached out to Greater Staten Island Veterinary Service. They were great! They helped us arrange for transportation to their office, and saw us immediately. Ultimately our dog had to be put down, but they were compassionate and professional. This is not a criticism of the veterinary care at Complete Care Veterinary Center ... we were always satisfied with the veterinary care our dog received. However, their business operation was less than professional. Things declined when Dr. Sangiorgio sold the business, but we stayed with them because we were happy with Dr. Lucas. read more

I regularly take my dog to banfield on forest ave. since my dog has a wellness plan however they had no openings to see my pet suffering from vomiting and lethargy. When I asked multiple vets for which animal hospital to go to, they recommended south shore. I Had a poor interaction with bay street animal hospital reception and was definitely not going there. South shore wanted to charge 135$ for an emergency appt, since they had no openings however Complete care offered 45$ exam fee before 6pm which is within my price range. I called ahead due to reading all these abysmal reviews and stated my hesitations of being charged exorbitantly. The receptionist was very kind and explained that every customers experience is different. I explained my pets symptoms. I kept my 530 appointment. I was greeted and asked to fill out a short form with the bare essentials. I was seen within 10 minutes, the doctor must've been briefed on my hesitations and Dr. Sangiorgio came in ready to get down to brass tax. I explained that my dog had been exposed to puppies with a parasite and I suspected my dog might have been infected. I brought stool and wanted it tested. I explained the symptoms to the vet tech prior, however the Dr. came in as if he hadn't been briefed which was a little frustrating since I had already explained twice before. I can understand people saying that Dr. S seemed "incoherent" however I think he just seemed exhausted. He felt her abdomen, checked the skin irritations my pet had and explained his reasoning for what was prescribed. He spoke in medical jargon I luckily followed due to researching pet md before hand. He spoke high level about wanting to prescribe her flora for her stomach upset and antibiotics in case there was anything irritating her stomach also. He said ok so I'll have them bring to the front what we talked about before getting my buy in for all the recommended treatments. He did recommend an EKG which I declined due to the 99$ price tag. When I asked him, wait what specifically am I agreeing to, he spoke in laymans terms about the treatment and I then agreed. Prescriptions: Droncit 35 mg tablets are sold on petmd 5 tablets for 13$, I was charged 26$ for 3 tablets. Flagyl liquid 15ml was charged 50$, on amazon it was 30$. The fecal exam was 27.75$ and exam was the proper price stated on the phone for 45$. In total I was charged 148$ and breathed a sigh of relief. I was able to be an active participant in saying what I wanted and did not want with a good understanding due to studying before going in. PROS: Taken with short notice and seen with minimal waiting time. Knowledgable doctor and friendly staff. CONS: Fast talk about treatment and expected buy in immediately without specifics on cost or an estimate on paper. I would return to this place with as much education as possible on treatments that may be prescribed and google all the medications mentioned to make sure youre getting a fair price point. read more

Whatever corporation that bought this once wonderful practice has driven it into the ground. Although Dr. Lucas and Dr. Sangeorgio are wonderful (I have been a client for over 20 yrs) the office is poorly run and mismanaged. They are perpetually understaffed with lack of vets and there is a high turnover rate with the admin staff. They close the office randomly because of this. This situation has been going on for over a year and is untenable. You would think due to the random office closings and no weekend or evening hours they would do their best to accommodate their clients; squeeze them in if it's an emergency or if a pet is unwell but they are completely INFLEXIBLE. They will instead refer you to an outside vet or tell you the first available appointment is next month, (which goes back to the staffing issue). The inconsistency of their office hours, and lack of consideration for their clients results in inconsistency of care for our pets and additional cost to us due to the need to seek outside care. The only thing consistent is their exorbitant fees ($28 for a nail trim!). All they have are excuses due to understaffing with no solutions to this problem. They seem to be the only vet on the island with this long standing issue. Since there no resolution in sight to the problem (other than random office closings and minimal hours) I have found another vet (fully staffed) that is better managed and equipped to provide my animals with consistent care and the time required to meet their medical needs. read more

After spending approximately $5000 in veterinary expenses, I feel I'm more than justified to give this place the rating it deserves. If it wasn't open 24 hours with on-call vets then it would probably receive 1 star. I was using this place as my main veterinarian clinic before I got fed up. Out of all the staff there was only one doctor that I particularly liked but she was barely ever there so I had to make due with what I was given. Let's start with the reception staff. It seems like they hire highschool drop-outs to work at the front desk. Complete with foul language, catty attitudes and too much gum to fit into their mouths, the receptionists should neither be seen nor heard. Be careful when you take your pet in for routine shots because you'll leave with 100 medications or supplements you don't need or feeling guilty as all hell that you don't want what's best for your pet. It's a sales business more than anything. They over medicate and often give wrong diagnoses. This place operates on quantity, not quality. I wouldn't recommend this place unless it's 3am and you have an emergency. read more

By far the WORST vet that I have ever been to!! Dr. Sangorio was unprofessional and didn't care to hear anything about my dog who was just adopted (and has had a very rought first 2 yrs of life). He quickly asked why we were there and told the vet tech to put a muzzle on her. When my dog got nervous on the table he threw her down and yelled at her, then when she peed on the table got even more upset and told us we should either put her on anti anxiety medication or seriously consider other options on what to do with her. I was so upset I felt like I was in a nightmare. The staff at the front desk were very unprofessional as well, talking on their phones and giving poor advise, one told me I might never be able to train my dog. I told her to look over the counter at my dog lying by my feet and asked what was wrong with her or untrainable about her? Just waiting in the waiting room they told almost every patient that walked out of the room that thye had outstanding balances, one women pulled out reciepts to show them that she did not. They employ vets who will tell you to put down a sick animal (not terminally) that other vets will treat and will treat you like a moron when you ask for treatment options. They overprice like CRAZY. RUN AWAY. An FIV/FELV test which is COMPLETELY STANDARD and nothing special cost $88!!!! Thats completely unheard of. They racked up a $400 charge for an animal they didnt ever treat and this was "rescue rate". You couldnt pay us to come back here. Not sure what place the rest of these reviewers went to, but it sure was not CompleteCare on Clove Road. Dr. Sangiorgio is such a nice & compassionate man! When we bring our dogs in there, he is nothing but nice, honest and caring. My dog had puppies and we needed to get the puppies (3 of them) their first shots and exams for their new owners. I did not even ask for a discount - he offered and said we will work with you. This guy is not in it for SOLELY the money, he truly cares about animals and people who own them. Dr. Eskanzi is an honest & wonderful woman! She may come across to most people as very sharp & direct with things that she says - but she is speaking the truth! Many people want doctors to sweet talk their pets or be nice about issues or tell the owner it's not their fault etc. Nope - not this doctor. She will tell you EXACTLY what the issues are and EXACTLY what you need to do for the welfare of your pet. Don't like how she speaks with her direct honesty? My family and I have been taking our animals to Dr. Sangiorgio since as long as he's been in practice, and I'm sure his care and attentiveness is the reason we have two 20 year old cats and an eleven year old German Shorthaired Pointer (if you know the breeds, you know that's pretty old for them!). Now that I've moved out and have animals of my own, I take them to CompleteCare as well. Dr. Sangiorgio is very honest - he will tell you when prolonged treatment will hurt your animal rather than help him/her. They're also willing to try out different, more alternative care methods on animals. This is a very nice mom and pop veterinary center that's interested in the combined efforts of healing an animal - they want to hear what you have to say but want you to listen to the professionals. Highly recommended. Try to catch their deals, they're very good. Also, you can adopt animals out of CompleteCare at very low costs, we've gotten some new additions to the family from that as well :) read more

This is the worst place ever. I have been bringing my pets for the last year for routine shots and check ups. I made an appt for my dog to be spayed, they quoted me a price for $603.84 for the surgery. I dropped my dog off and paid what they quoted me. I received a call to pick my dog up, no mention of any issues or problems. When I arrived they charged me an additional $285.00 saying my dog had a false pregnancy. When I asked them what that means they changed the story saying she was still in heat and I didn't wait long enough after her period to have the procedure. First I told the person when I scheduled her appt her period date, she wanted to give her an appt 2 weeks earlier we opted to go with a later date. This was not an emergent surgery, it could have waited had they mentioned anything. Also if there was an issue with my pet, they should have told me. When I asked why nobody said anything when I was called to pick her up she said "sorry it fell through the crack because we had another surgery" when my husband voiced his concerns he was told "if you don't like it don't bring your dog here anymore" and if you don't pay "we are calling the police" This is really an unprofessional practice that does not care about the pets or the customers. I would highly recommend that you NOT bring your animal here if you want them to receive any type of competent care or if you as a consumer expect to be treated with any respect. read more

I recently took my golden retriever there for an eye issue. Dr. S diagnosed it quickly and professionally. I found both him and his front desk staff to be highly professional and he gave us plenty of time on the visit. He was quite knowledgeable about the medicine and his discussed my Cavalier King Charles's mitral valve disease with me with authority. I was very impressed with Dr S. Will definitely repeat. Oh and bill was about a third of what my Manhattan vet charges. I have read some of the negative reviews here and the Dr S the bad reviews depict is nothing like the kind and warm professional Dr S whom I saw. I don't get it. He was great. read more

Beware of this place! I took my lab for what I described as a cough. First, the female doctor with the white stripe down her head misdiagnosed him two times. Then Dr. San Giorgio after looking at a recording that we provided said that my dog was having seizures and wanted to admit him and give him anti-seizure medication. I had better sense not to leave him. This is all without doing not one blood or any other test. I seeked a second opinion and after many tests we found that my dog has a tumor in his heart actually. This is not the first time that complete care shows incompetence. I will never step foot in there again. They should really be put out of business. read more

Last Sunday, my family unfortunately had to euthanize our 13 year old dog. Comeplete Care was very sympathetic to our situation, and took us in withing a few hours. I carried our dog in, and the Doctor (I didn't catch her name in the state I was in) was very compassionate and gentle. She passed painlessly and peacefully, and we were told we could have all the time we needed with her. I would have given 5 stars for this review, but there was an error with the processing of our payment; although we had checked the box on the paperwork for group cremation, we were charged for individual (nearly a $180 difference). If you are a little paranoid like me, you might assume that it might have been a "fast one" that they try to pull on those in upset emotional states, but most likely it was just a clerical mistake. It was just inconvenient that we had to drive all the way home before noticing. Upon immediate return, we were refunded the difference in the charge. Mostly all of the front staff was apologetic and happy to do this. One girl was especially nice, and the other followed suit after she saw what was happening. This would not deter me from going back, and I would definitely return to CCVC. The place was clean, professional, and reasonably priced. We even received a grief card. I made a trip to New york together with my pet , Mister Bijoux and with the travel stress he got sick . I went to a veterinary centre in Manhattan but I was treated very badly and my little prince felt not so good so I left and looked on google for somebody else. I found Dr Sangiorgio and Complete Care . Went there and I was surprised how friendly and professional the staff was . As a big plus , Mr SAngiorgio spoke Italian and since I speak Italian was a nice touch . After a short consult while I was enjoying a cappuccino ( touch ) Complimentary DR SAngiorgio recommended me to do some blood tests . Second day I went back and the testes came . It turn out that my little prince was a bit anxious and had as well a heart condition . Dr SAngiorgio wrote a prescription and my Dog started to feel better , I still give him the medicine Dr SAngiorgio gave me even that we r back in Europe I was curious after about Dr Sangiorgio and I found out that he s a professions working for some major Media producing company ( the ones that deal with animals ) and found him on some youtube posts . Next year when I come to Nyc for sure I ll bring my prince for a consult I recommend this place read more

I came with my wounded cat, waited past the appointment time and found out the x-ray machine wasn't operable. Why they allowed me to make the appointment, I don't know. Called back for assistance finding ANOTHER vet (one with a working x-ray machine) and was given the names, but not the numbers of two out of town vets. Not a good place. read more

I am new to the area and brought my dog there for vaccines and scratching two different times. i saw dr.sangeorgio the first time and my dog went home limping really bad and he never told me that any of this could happen. and when i called the receptionist they said there was no doctor in the building at 1:30 in the afternoon!!! i went back a second time to see a female doctor with long brown hair and she was rude and my dog is still scratching after i paid over $300 worth of medication and shampoo that she said would fix the problem. i ended up going to another clinic and they completely disagreed with her choices and now my dog finally feels great! Complete Care smells really bad, the technicians had no idea what they were talking about, there was hair and dried blood all over the exam room. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place at all. wish i could give negative stars. I think this place is great. The attitude of workers are very professional and caring. Dr Sangeorgio is my vet and I fully trust him. He is professional and detail oriented. I bring both my dogs to him. The place has a great atmosphere and I feel comfortable with the staff. Its not easy to find a good vet place. My dog was playing rough with another dog in the park and he bit a piece of his ear. He was bleeding pretty bad so we took him to this vet being it was so close to the park. Dr. Sangiorgio seemed out of it and incoherent. I suggested he caurterize the wound but he insisted it needed to be stiched and couldnt be cauterized. He gave him blood pressure medicine to reduce the bleeding and he wanted to keep him over night. I suggested to the dogs owner that she get a second opinion from her vet and sure enough her vet said it could be caurterized and found it strange that he gave the dog blood pressure medication because that would take 72 hours to stop the bleeding. I have heard bad things about this vet in the past but I have taken my dog there for small things here and there and didnt find it to be that bad but after this experience I would never go back even in an emergency.
