The doctors may be wonderful but the unprofessionalism and lack of compassion by the front deck is deplorable. They try to charge and accuse customers of testing that was never done. You sit in the waiting room listening to the trashy things the girls behind the desk have done over the weekend, while the phone rings continuously so they can just text you back. The "office manager" has zero accountability, or kindness, or compassion. And when calling while I was in Australia and my dog was literally bleeding from the chest from a snake bite, the disgusting heartless office manager turned me away saying "you were never really happy here". This place ONLY cares about $money$ and nothing else. Not even your pet, which is the reason for the business in the first place. They will add items to your bill that you didn't ask for nor approve so look at your charges and make sure they're not scamming you. All I needed was heartworm medication from chewy. They refuse to approve it until I come in, pay $90 just to walk through the doors and then an expensive test that she had a year ago for a medication she's been taking her while life with no problems. So the $60 medicine I need will end up costing me around $400 because Richmond Valley Vet will NOT be denied their money. I'm going to a different vet and I suggest you all do the same. First off I want to tell you guys how upset I am how everything went. I'm a first time dog owner everything is all new to me. I was recommend to come to you guys from where I purchased my puppy. When I got to your location I texted like the sign told me to do so and then I got asked to reply with my car make and model and color I believe. I was also asked why I was here and I wrote back "just for a check up" and they said someone will be right out. Which someone did come out pretty fast and she was very sweet I will say that her name was Lauren. I gave Lauren my baby girl Khloe and gave her a copy of her medical records she said she will be out shortly cause it's just a check up which it was super fast she came out less than 15 minutes. She walks out holding Khloe and in the other hand is a purple bag and a bag of treats she comes to the window and tells me everything went great Khloe got a shot I was in total shock how do you give someone's dog a shot without their permission? She begins to tell me I may want to get baby Benadryl Incase of a Allergic reaction Which isn't likely and then hands me her she then says I have some treats for her and then tells me she has heart worm and tick pills for her and kind explains how to give it to her. We spoke a little I asked her a couple questions about my Guinea pig and dog being together and she told me someone will be calling me shortly to talk to me about the appointment. Someone called me about 30 minutes later and said hi I'm calling about Khloe she had a shot today and it's $76 and change I don't remember the exact price how would you like to pay card or cash? I was like oooh K like wtf I thought someone was calling me to tell me how the appointment went I passed the phone to my husband and he paid with his card. The next day I was thinking how upset I am how you guys went about your Business and how I feel you guys were totally wrong for giving my dog a shot without my permission I also was thinking I don't even know what the hell she got or how much my dogs weighs nor have a Receipt of what I paid for. So I texted and asked about a receipt and also said I don't even know how much my dog weighs and got a response saying I'm so sorry I'll get that to you ASAP by 7:50pm that day I get a text back saying "6.2" that's all it said and still to this day NO Receipt. I go on the app and I'm looking at reward points and I'm like how do I have these points I click at the history and what each point is for and o see the shot only coast $44 and that shit you guys brought outside that you said is for Khloe you actually charged me for ‍ WTF Like you could of totally asked me if I was interested in buying it that you recommend it but not come out with it like it was a welcome gift. Greedy and major communication fail between staff members. I Was there for a rabies shot visit with my pup, questions arose after the visit since I was being charged for the services I wasn't provided... when speaking to office manager on the phone who preceded by saying "I've reviewed her (my dogs) chart" she's trying to proof to me that my pup was there for blood work , meanwhile I was there with my pup and she got a shot in front of my eyes, which makes me question the trustworthiness of what they're saying. Meanwhile, while we were there, there was no mention at all of blood work. When speaking to them they try to confuse you and proof points that don't exist this makes me question the validity and professionalism of this facility, since they're trying to cover up for each other. Lack of transparency between customer and staff is what's making me leave this place. I gave this office multiple chances but now I can clearly state, I wouldn't recommend it. Dr Powell, very condescending, makes no eye contact when he speaks and I wouldn't call him the most talented vet. Multiple visits in he still couldn't find an approach for my 7 lbs dog nor me. Lots of questions are dodged and redirected to other staff members. Had me chase my puppy around the office while he and his aid just stood there making comments on our chasing game. Not a vet I want for my dog. They have multiple vets so I figured one should click with my dog but it seems like it's the general attitude of the vets towards their customers. Dr osterman makes notes in the chart apparently without running them by you, literally on her phone for her personal Matter while My pup and I are there in the room, no attention to the matter what so ever but then the notes appear so when you speak to the secretary the information comes out of nowhere. Just a major lapse in communication between all. The two visits happened within two months of each other, neither visit was my pups temperature checked, nor did they attempt to trim her nails which apparently is included in the visit, neither visit were the teeth checked until I guided the dr to do it the second visit. Idk if it's bc my dog is young and they assume she's healthy so they do no extra checking but I've been getting those half visits in while they try to charge a full price and trust me I don't mind paying if I'm getting what I'm paying for. The one person in the office that I'd like to point out is Adrea the office manager, but unfortunately she has no power and not in the decision making position, so she's just nice and that's it. If you envision a caring , transparent, environment for your pup this office is not for you. read more

Service is poor. My appointment was at 1045, but i was waiting until 1125. No apology or acknowledgment for the lateness, they pretend like nothing was wrong. This has been a consistent problem since Covid and seems to be getting worse. They still ask you to wait in your car outside, for their convenience, not your safety. They do not pick up the phone, you have to communicate through text and they take long time to reply. The lead time to get an appointment is about a month. Hey pet parents. I am sharing my experience so others can be aware. Today I went to Richmond valley vet with my 6 month old German shepherd so they can look at his nose. He came in a prong collar since we are still in training of appropriate leash walking. A vet tech walked us in, as we walked in another vet walked out with another dog. To avoid the dogs interacting , the vet tech grabbed my dog into the air with the prong collar. He was dangling and screaming in pain. I started to screaming saying "are you crazy. He's a puppy in a prong collar. You're hurting him". She wouldn't let go until I screamed my lungs out to get off my dog. I walked into the room upset. The vet tech came back with the female vet. I asked her to leave , I don't feel comfortable with her handling my dog. She clearly doesn't know how to properly handle a dog. She responded to tell me about her 10 years experience and that she doesn't have to explain herself to me. She also stated she isn't leaving and too bad. It escalated until I told her that I will beat the f*ck out of her if she even comes near my dog. Now the vet apologized and handled the situation very professionally. Another tech came in and she was great. I asked for the vet tech's name. The office manager refuses to release her name to me. She has large gauges in her ears , blue highlight , and tattoos on her arms. I couldn't see anything else (due to the mask). Here's my warning - don't ever let your dogs go unaccompanied ESPECIALLY in this office. My dog was dangling in the air from his prong collar. I wish I had it on video. I understand accidents happen and the vet was extremely apologetic. Had to ask the vet tech to leave. read more

Dr. Shull is just plain amazing, he did tail and eye surgery on our bulldog, and I never was at any veterinarian who had more pride and passion. He walked my pup and I to my car. We said our goodbye to Richmond Valley Vet this weekend as we are moving to California and I honestly feel like we are losing a member of our family. Dr Lisa Esposito is the most thorough, gentle, insightful, brilliant and kind vets we have ever met (we have a bulldog, so we have seen a LOT of vets). If you have a bulldog do not hesitate, she is the one your baby needs! Our guy is generally very healthy, but had a crazy situation involving his tail... long story short Dr Lisa tirelessly advocated for us and our little guy and honestly saved his life. You call, hang on for twenty minutes and then they hang up. I know things are tougher during this Pandemic but, they have become completely Dysfunctional. I have been coming to Richmond Valley for at least 8 years. I drive all the way from the Bronx. At the time this Vet office was the best place to bring your English bulldogs. But since the Covid pandemic they have fallen off extremely. You can't even get a appointment within the week. You have to wait at least 3 weeks to get a appointment now. They don't weigh the dogs. You can't come inside which I'm not going to complain about that. But things are opening up now. So hopefully they get back on the ball and get back to how they once was. Because having someone take your pet inside and your not there with them you don't how and what they are doing with them. It annoys me that you can't be in there to explain what's going on with your pet. read more

Dr. Caban is the best! I have been bringing my Bruno to him for Six years now. He is so compassionate and kind. He never makes us feel rushed and is always thorough. He takes his time and listens and addresses all of my concerns. I know I am a crazy pet mom who is also neurotic, lol, and I just have to say that Dr Caban has never made me feel like I was being too crazy! I appreciate that. He truly cares for all his fur patients. I have complete trust in him and I know that my dog Bruno is in the best hands. I have also seen other doctors there as well. So I just want to say that Dr. Powell is also great. He puts you at ease instantly and I also appreciate his compassion as well. In addition, my dog was also seen by Dr. Esposito. I had called in late one Sunday . She was the dr on call that night. I told her my dog hasn't been well all day and she had me bring him to the office on a Sunday night at 8:00pm when they were closed so that she could check him out. That was so amazing. Just visited for the first time today and I am so happy that we found a great Veterinary office for our Lab! We saw Dr. Purcell who has a very pleasant and calm demeanor. Even though the office was busy, she didn't rush the visit and answered all of our questions. She did a thorough exam and even cleaned his ears which is nearly an impossible feat with our dog. The women in the front office are so friendly both on the phone and in person. This is especially nice considering how busy the office is. Lastly, the building is very nice, super clean and located on a nice property where you can walk your dog while you wait. I would definitely recommend this office for your pet children. read more

This is the 2nd time I have had to go to Richmond Valley and they are great. My pepper saw Dr. Hines for a swollen paw. He prescribed anti biotics and an anti inflammatory medicine. In two weeks, she is feeling much better and not limping around on her other paw. The best thing, I didn't have an astronomical bill. It was $126 for the visit and the meds. I didn't feel ripped off as I sometimes do when I have seen other vets. I will deffinitely go back, as needed. read more
