After talking with other vets on the island they weren't sure if they were able to help our dog. We took our dog here to Dr Pugliese and she took our dog like it was her own and went to work. She monitored our dogs recovery through the night and hand feed her. Who else does this? After my dogs life saving surgery, my dog was back to normal running around playing and very happy. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They do not care about your pet and they are extremely unprofessional. Dr. Stora nearly killed my dog by giving her multiple vaccinations at once and an anesthetic at the same time. They did this after I had already told them she cannot take more than one vaccine at a time and that was the precise reason why I made sever spread out appointments. They then proceeded to call me a liar saying I don't know what my dog does or doesn't react to. After this appointment I recorded videos of how lethargic and sick my dog got from what they did to her. After trusting them with my dog, who is my daughter, they brought her back to me lethargic, vomiting, and unable to walk. Video footage was taken of all this m, to ensure we had proof. Soon after she was taken to Garden state where they nursed her back to health. He also continued on to say her broken leg would never heal and it is permanently damaged, even if surgery was done. Meanwhile my dog is only 2 years old. After a few months her leg went back to normal as of nothing happened. This was all thanks to the help of Garden State Animal Hospital in NJ, which is highly recommended. He should clearly have his license taken away, especially after harming my dog and giving us obscenely false information. If I could give this a negative star I would. Please avoid this place if you care about your pet. I hope this place, and everyone who hurt my dog, pays for what they did to her. She will never go back and I have told everyone I've ever know how horrific this place truly is. Please spread the word about how unprofessional and dangerous this place is for your pet. 5 stars!!! I'm in actual tears, Dr. Pugliese is the BEST vet we have seen in years. She didn't muzzle our vet-aggressive pup. She didn't wear a white lab coat (she knew not to!). And she gave a thorough exam and uncovered some existing health issues we were unaware of due to previously negligent veterinarians. She is a lifesaver. And her techs are compassionate amazing people. I really cried in their offices, then bawled in my car because no vet has ever been so kind to my baby. I'm just so thankful our pup had a real thorough visit and that Dr. Pugliese spoke to us with humanity and grace. I hope she'll be our doctor for life! Thank you so much for your care. read more

Five stars for Dr. Pugliese and the Kristy the vet assistant. They cured our ringworm foster kitties and treated them tenderly. Half of the receptionists are super sweet and the other half rude. If you can stomach that, this is an excellent place. read more

This is the last place I will ever take any of my fur babies again after my cats surgery I made appt for follow up told them my cat didn't seem to be recovering to well but the Dr didn't feel it was such a priority she had the receptionist call me back 10 minutes later and prescribed pain pills and took it upon themselves to cancel the follow up appt even though my cat needed to be checked during that same weekend no Drs were in the office my cat got worse I had to take her to ER vet in which she was diagnosed with an infection unfortunately after a few more days she had gotten worse and had to be euthanized this Dr disregarded that my cat was not doing well after surgery and prescribed pain pills although she should have been seen for follow up after surgery the infection could have been diagnosed sooner to start antibiotics to give my cat a chance but they canceled the follow up appt I made it's like they collected the money for the surgery and then my cat was no longer a concern for them the front desk Christina was rude and actually insinuated I canceled the appt my cat contracted this infection in their office and when told she was not well they disregarded with pain pills now I have to live with this I feel like I did wrong by my fur baby trusting this office with her care they are basically responsible for my cats illness and death.....INCOMPETENT ELTINGVILLE VET Dr Pugliese read more

I have brought my cat and my guinea pig here for treatment in the past. I recently called to bring my guinea pig in as she was ill. I was told I could bring her in in 2 weeks. I told her she might be dead by then. She said she was sorry. That didn't help me. I called the following morning to get the same answer. I went through names until I find a vet who took exotic animals. Luckily I found one but it was too late, my guinea pig died. I can't believe I was just pushed aside . What an ominous and shocking phone encounter! I had called the office on a Thursday to schedule a puppy wellness visit the upcoming days. I was picking up my puppy on Friday. They told me they didn't have any availability until Tuesday. I said that was fine. I called their office on Tuesday to let them know I was running a little behind and asked if it was still ok to make the appt or if I needed to reschedule. The receptionist by the name of Jennifer said it was too late. Then she went off and stated that a MAN by my same last name, same dog name, and same phone number had made a new patient appt before and arrived at their office 2 hours late and riled up the office. It could not have been on the same day I had an appt with them because I called when I was only 10 minutes late. I told the lady that that was not me. She raised her voice and insisted that some man was impersonating me and asking ME who it was. I told her again it is not me or no one I know. Doesn't even make sense that I would know who is impersonating me lol. She insisted that I was lying and that it was my husband or brother. I told Jennifer I have neither. She stated she had phone and video recordings to prove this and I said, Perfect! I would like to take a look at it too. At this point, I had no intention of making another appt with them but looking to clarify that it was two different people they were dealing with. She then got the office manager on the phone who also insisted that I was wrong- that she spoke to someone from my number just 30 minutes ago this morning. My phone was with me and I never received any calls from them. My boyfriend with a different last name got on the phone because he heard how preposterous this situation was. The manager insisted on saying he had the same voice as the recordings and who she just spoke to. He was sleeping all morning... We told them again that I have been the only one reaching out to schedule this appointment. My boyfriend and I are Asian. Clearly they are RACIST and UNPROFESSIONAL to realize that it could be two different people they are dealing with. I find it quite impossible that they encountered a MAN recently with the same last name, dog name, and phone number. I've had my phone number for over 20 years, my family and I don't even live in Staten Island. My boyfriend lives in Staten Island and I was going out of my way because I heard great reviews about Dr. Pugliese. It seems they are making up this impersonator to not do any business with me. There are so many vets out there. Why would I insist on going to their office for business if I knew the impersonator. They could have been much more professional about this instead of creating lies and not not owning up to their mistakes. Instead they made accusations and stuck to their own ridiculous story line. If they are like this on the phone, I can't imagine how horrid their service is in person. I would give them negative stars if I could. Please beware for anyone looking to do business with this practice. I am a Healthcare professional who works at a doctor's office and this is not how they should treat patients. I've also had pets in the past and have had encounters with Vets and their offices and never was I treated like this. Dr. Pugliese first began taking care of our beloved Maltese when he was just 2 months old. Her skill, thoroughness, compassion and kindness is unrivaled. Yesterday, 15 years later, we had to face the inevitable due to a very grave heart condition which deteriorated rapidly over the last 5 days. Thanks to Dr. Pugliese, he had almost 2 extra years of quality life and that meant the world to us. I don't know where to begin to express how lucky my family is that we took my 4 year old boxer, Cruz, to Dr. Pugliese. She has been caring for my dog for the past two months after the first vet he went to mind of dismissed him. We are in her office about 3-4 times a month, she gave our dog a chance, checked him thoroughly and got him started immediately on a regimen that is working. Dr Pugliese doesn't rush appointments but doesn't keep you waiting either. My family is always trading off who takes Cruz to see her and she is always so patient to go through and answer the same questions the last person asked. Not only is she a pleasure, so is her staff. I'm giving this review to the receptionist only. She was abrupt, rude and unkind. Not to my dog but to me. I am over 65yrs old & have multiple sclerosis. The day of my appt is hot & sunny about 80deg. Not good for someone with MS. So anyway she sent me home to come back when it would be a safe environment following COVID-19 regulations. When I got home I knew I was too overheated to go back the 2 blocks to the office. I called the office for a new appt. So of course while I was calling them they were calling me to come back. Needless to say Christine or Christina Chris something starting arguing with me. She speaks very fast too fast for me to understand her. When I tried to ask a question she kept talking over me without giving me a chance to finish speaking. For a receptionist she displayed a lack of patience and common courtesy. I may have to go back to my former vet because of this person's attitude. read more

I had a very bad experience with Eltingville Veterinary Practice, my dog almost died. I took my dog to them to get a second opinion regarding my dog's collapsed treachea that wasn't healing. Dr. Stora prescribed medicines, one of which was a steroid. My dog had a bad reaction to the steroid prescribed and was panting heavily for over 6 hours. I called the office twice to asked if I could adjust the medications and if Dr. Stora would please return my call. Dr. Stora never returned my call. The following morning at 3 AM I had to rush my baby to Greater Staten Island Veterinary Services. My dog was panting heavily, drooling, and couldn't walk. GSIVS put him on oxygen and gave him excellent care, I will be forever grateful to them. He's home today and healing slowly. I wouldn't recommend Eltingville to anyone. But of course, Eltingville called me today to remind me of my next appointment. I will never go back! read more

We brought our dog Remi here after a recommendation from my daughter. After a few months, Remi , who was extremely overweight began losing weight on their food regimen and now is a perfect size for a shepherd. They also discovered that she was Lyme + and put her asap on meds and continue to care for her. We were traveling and needed a vet. We were so lucky to end up here! They not only fit us into their schedule but offered the latest in technology coupled with not only warmth and caring, but also a genuine affection for our cat. You can see it in their eyes. All of the staff were also kind and gentle. Dr. Danielle Pugliese is extremely knowledgeable and dedicated to the best care without overdoing. For example, we thought our kitten needed another set of shots. She told us it was unnecessary and explained why. She could easily have run up the bill. The place is clean enough that it could be a children's clinic. The prices are reasonable. She would be our regular vet in a heartbeat if we didn't live on the other side of the country. read more

We found Dr Pugliese through word of mouth during a pretty big sad emergency. It was a bittersweet meet. We had a very sick exotic that we needed to hear the real medical truth about, after trying for week's with numerous vet's. She was not only kind, respectful, honest and full of pure educational informative hand's on wealth of medical knowledge in exotic's. Which other Dr's on Staten Island really did not have. I asked for the truth and did not want anything held back. Dr. Pugliese and her wonderful assistants spent hours with me and my pet making sure I was very informed. I had to make a very tough decision that day after learning how dangerous surgery would be and the normal typical outcome of anesthesia alone. I did not expect going in to have to make a difficult decision. She let me know that she was in pain. I decided to put my pet down on the spot. It was a very hard decision but, the Dr herself was there by my side and tried her very best to make it easier for me. The Dr was sad,as well as her assistants. She was empathetic and caring. Her staff was empathetic and caring all of them even the front desk. Although it was a very sad occasion, I highly recommend Dr. Pugliese if you have an exotic that is sick. I wish I found her sooner but the outcome would have been the same except my exotic would have been taken out of pain sooner. Always be realistic with vet's ask for the truth even if you know it may hurt. The fact that Dr. Pugliese was so truthful I put her on a high pedestal. I could tell it was hard for her to give that bad news, but I respect her for being honest as well as caring and kind. I highly recommend Dr. Pugliese for your pet's especially exotics she is overly experienced. read more
