I brought my 2 Yorkies here yesterday and they came home looking crazy. This is the second time they've gone here for a full groom and I'm totally flabbergasted at their haircuts and their demeanor when they came home. Their cuts are so uneven and choppy and way too short. Their eyes are still crusty and I don't even think their nails were cut. On top of all of that, they weren't their usual selves when we picked them up. Then when my partner called to complain, the owner wasn't even apologetic and it seemed like we were inconveniencing her. I urge pet parents to think twice before bringing their pups here. Love this place since my last groomer wasn't doing a good job someone recommended this place and I'm supper grateful for it. They don't crate your dog to begging with, the groomer is super friendly and very understanding, they has ton of spa options and their prices are unbelievable. The other good thing is that I don't like Tiramisu getting shave because it damaged his coat so she cut his hair by scissors as per my request so very accommodating. read more

I recently brought my Brittany Spaniel to Barking Palace for a full groom. I work nearby and was looking for a good groomer in the area. The Yelp reviews were almost all positive and highly recommended this business so I was eager to give them a try. I was shocked to see what they had done to my dog. I asked for them to give him a "crew cut", but to leave the tail, which is quite fluffy, and head as is. I also informed them that my dog was just getting over a spinal disc infection and that his lower spine, near his tail, was a little sensitive. It seemed as if they started to use a clipper and shaved a patch from the front of his chest, but that was it. The "patch" fur was about 1/4" long, but the fur around the patch was about 3/4". Then it looked like they moved on to his left front leg where they badly cut his elbow. These were the only two parts of my dog that they used a clipper on. I guess after cutting his elbow they decided to switch to scissors, which resulted in a choppy uneven mess. Considering the overwhelming number of positive Yelp reviews, I'm forced to assume the groom may have been done by a trainee, but there appeared to be a complete lack of supervision. The woman who greeted me was quite pleasant and friendly, but I'm afraid I will not return to this groomer. read more

What a great salon! They are extremely friendly and make you feel like family even from the first phone call just to make the appointment. My dog looks and smells amazing. Exactly what I asked for. The cherry on top... They were FAST. My baby didn't sit in a cage for hours. I dropped him off and an hour or so later they called me that he would be ready in 15 min. The price can't be beat either! I highly recommend this groomers, my shih tzu is one years old since she was 5 months she has been going to PetSmart to get grooming and trims, I never cared for them, one they are always overbooked, and charged me extra due to my dog "being difficult to work with" how is a dog difficult to work with? Any who...I took her to another place didn't like them either, I found this groomers I got an appointment quickly, the decor the atmosphere is wonderful! The groomer was polite and friendly to me and my pup! I love how they do not keep the dogs in crates/cages they let them roam around the back and separate them by gender. I had a situation where PetSmart screwed me over by canceling my appt the day before I was leaving for vacation. I needed my Bernese Mountain Dog groomed before going to the dog sitters house. A dog grooming "emergency" sounds ridiculous, in this case it actually WAS an emergency, dog sitter isn't going to take a 100lb shedding smelly dog (I held off on his normal grooming appt so he would be nice and fresh for the sitter) I contacted these guys at 10:30am and explained my situation, and they told me (a total stranger to them) they would gladly groom him for me! We love barking palace, we've been taking our multipoo here since we moved to the island and have been pleased every time. There have been times when we bring her in horribly matted and they do a wonderful job on her with out bruising her or causing any other superficial injuries due to her fur. However, today, whoever groomed our Great Pyr didn't complete their job and didn't touch her feet, and when we asked to have them done, for $85 no less, they agreed to finish But chopped the hair off in unequal parts and and the rest of her coat is poorly cut, too. We have supported this business for years, so when I told the gentleman at the front desk our dog had been poorly cut, he told me he was sorry I felt this way. I told him it's a fact that they butchered our dog. It's not a feeling. and he didn't seem to care at all. Great experience as the owner and groomer were so patient with me! I brought in my rescue poodle who had been bathed but not groomed in 6 months, I had an idea of a trim to keep her fluffy. Great experience! Took my 5 month old pup here for a wash and nail trim. Had first time jitters being a new mom but the staff was very friendly, even when he had initial sassiness with some other pups in the shop they handled it seamlessly. Service took about 45 minutes and they called when he was about 5 minutes from being done. For his size/coat it was $35 which I felt was reasonable. He smells great and is a very happy camper! She is so professional, reasonable with prices and also will try to fit you in even if it's last minute. The place is a nice size and love the decorations and paintings with all the doggy love everywhere! My Teddy goes in looking like a crazy little cave man but comes out so handsome and smells so good. Jaime usually takes about 2 hours tops depending on the day and time but I totally trust her with my little guy. My dog is familiar with her and the place and like any dog who doesn't like a bath his tail is between his legs but when I get him he's a social little guy in there with the other dogs and a total flirt! My sheltie's coat is so thick that when I was washing him at home, his fur didn't dry properly.It's not like he would let me dry him with a hairdryer. He actually smelled mildewed. Went here a few times first the bath for my dogs started out at 35 each ! Every time I went the price was different ! The last time I went I paid 50 each for a bath! Not to mention both my dogs were still wet ! All over now my dogs are gonna dry smelling like wet dog for that I'll do it in my yard ! I will no longer go here ! Started off good but slack off when they see your a repeat customer ! I would not recommend. * to reply to owner I groomed in Brooklyn for many years if a dog doesn't like the blower there are several things u can do to dry dog! U don't put conditioner on the dogs feet and legs that's what was wet! Even if u put condition on dogs feet and legs the dog is suppose to be dry going home ... U rushed bc u were closing and u dried the areas of body that take the longest ! the feet and legs dry the quickest it's a short haired dog if u properly dry dog.... The price went up from the other times not just this once it went up every time I went .... You rushed the baths and that's that ! The dogs ears weren't cleaned u did a horrible job stop making poor excuses u can't fool a person who was in the business for many years I know all the tricks to the trade ! We brought our new 1 yr old rescue to the Barking Palace this past Friday and are very glad we did. Our girl spent a long time traveling to get to us and was pretty timid so we weren't sure how she would react. But the people there were so good with her and gave us a lot of great info on where to go for everything we needed. When we came to pick up Coco she was playing and wagging her tail non-stop - even jumped up to say goodbye to the ladies that cared for her. I was calling around on 2/5/2016 a few different groomers on the island. This place by far had the best pricing. My dog is about 8 lbs long haired chihuahua. They charged me $28/ w tax to wash her dry her and shave her extra hair around her rear end. Other places on the island quoted me 75 for the works and 45 for just a wash. The people were sweet they fit me in same day and even called me when she was running a little behind. My dog has never felt so soft, and they sent her home with a cute little bandana. Brought my Shih Tzu here for a summer hair cut an a nail trim when she got back to us they make her coat in PATCHES longer n short pieces everywhere they cut her tail to short made bold patchy spots in her face even left 1 really long strand of fur on her ear ??? They did not trim her nails a short enough she looked like a complete new since she didn't even smell or look clean like she usually dose when she comes back from the groomers when I called them to complain they said bring her in they will fix the problem so the next day when I called to confirm about bringing her in they was very rude acting like they didn't know what I was talking about they told me they can't do nothin for me ?? Great Place! I took my dog in for am oatmeal bath. She was done in no time and her coat was shiny and smelled amazing. I highly recommend.

I set up an appointment at this cute little shop close to home for my pup.There are no cages, the pups run around behind a gate which is very cute and great for my anxious dog. When I went to pick her up, she looked great! But as I got home I noticed how choppy and uneven her cut was. One side of her face was significantly longer than the other, so were the ears. the hair under the collar was not cut nor was the hair around her backside! Then I noticed a faint trail of blood, it seems that one nail was cut too short and just kept bleeding. I know that accidents happen and pets can be difficult but I just wish that someone would have told me that the nail was cut a bit short and to keep an eye on it because it was very alarming to see the blood. We went to the vet and they were able to take care of it but I just don't appreciate not being told. The total price was also significantly higher than other groomers I have taken my dog to. read more
