The girl who did my nails used the wrong size nails so they look too big and then when I gave her the money instead of giving me my change she took off with a 20.00 dollar bill announcing that her and the other girl would split the tip u had to raise my voice more than once to get her to give me the 20.00 back and taking 2 5.00 bills for the tips which neither one deserved. The lady that does my feet does a good job on the toe paint but not on the foot scrub and other thing (minimum effort). This is my first time coming here, I chose this salon over the countless nail shops in Downey because of the low prices and good reviews I had seen. I'm not someone who ever gets my nails done, I had high expectations for this salon after looking at the reviews on Yelp. I give the two stars because the staff was incredibly kind, from the person at the front desk to the two ladies who did my nails. The two stars comes from the service that I got, I was really impressed by their manners. Unfortunately, I wish that the work they had done was just as good. I got a gel mani/pedi, it was simple, no design just the color. Looking at the work on my hands, I have to say I was horrified at first but was too embarrassed to say anything to them. The corners of my nails weren't completely colored and the black nail polish that i previously had wasn't taken off completely. The painting was also sloppy. My feet looked fine... until I took a closer look at them. Some of my toes are halfway painted, cuticles still on the nail, basically the paint was everywhere but the actual nail. It is my first time here, but not sure if I will be back. The employees are very kind but it's not enough to bring me back if I'm not satisfied with the work. I have been a regular customer since around the time they opened. I return every 2 wks for gel fills & gel/reg pedi. SOMETIMES I wait 3 wks, but not usually. My acrylics are always on point and I get compliments all the time! My main complaints are w/ customer service. Tracy & the rest of the girls are always super sweet, but the receptionist Laura...I must remind her of someone she doesn't like. I am always friendly, yet she ignores me all the time. When someone says "thank you" you respond w/ "you're welcome," basic etiquette. Second, they began charging me for services that weren't charged before. I always pay $22 for gel fill, but recently I have been charged $25-$30. I think I am being charged $3-5 for cutdown. If I am coming in every 2 weeks and the growth is STANDARD I should not be charged for a cutdown? I have also been charged for shaping the nail if the shape is not square. I get it if you are going from one shape to another, but if I stay w/ the same shape I should not be charged shaping just because it is not a square shape. I am NOT the complaining type, so I NEVER complain. I just get my bill, pay & tip the girls. Maybe that is my fault. What really got to me was my latest visit last week, I went in for my regular services & I could totally feel that the technicians were talking about me. I go in for a relaxing evening, yet I have more than one technician come up and look at the work that is getting done and they turn to look while they are chit chatting. I had an unfortunate visit. I'm not saying this place is bad but I unfortunately had a bad experience. I've been going to this nail salon for some time now. I've had one other bad experience but decided to go back. Unfortunately this last visit was another bad experience. My toe nails were cut very short on the sides and now I have pain from the uneven peak that was left. Both my hand and toe nails have those like bubble spots that have caused cracking in the nail polish. This is just unfortunate because now I have to be keeping an extra eye out for ingrown nails due to the uneven short peaks left on all my toes. So, I don't want to be a jerk and give low stars because the receptionist was really nice and helpful, they responded through yelp to give me a next day appointment super fast, and both my manicurist and pedicurist were friendly. However...the work didn't come out that nice. The shop wasn't even that busy but I felt like they were rushing to finish. When he filed my nails he left a lot of rough, uneven edges. He also left nail polish on my cuticles and since it's a gel nail polish it's not easy to fix. I will have to wait until my next manicure. If it was just one or two nails with these issues I wouldn't care but I feel like every nail has something wrong with it. Im not the type of person to complain to a service worker, especially today because I had another appointment to get to after this one and didn't have time. This nail salon has been great for me. I went in and asked the staff to do a French ombre with my real nails. I grew my nails out and then went in for the service. The results were so nice, exactly like something off of Pinterest. The owner recommended I request Ken to do my manicure with stones and I waited for him after getting my pedi. He was very careful and paid attention to the smallest details and did exactly what I had in mind. I feel bad for making him stay late after closing, but I was certainly not disappointed. WHAT HAPPENED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE! I used to come to this place out of convenience, but lately they have been rude and the wait time is longer than usual. I don't mind the wait if they were to let me know but I waited 30 minutes and no one ever approached me to let me know anything. Well I still waited because this was a decent place to get a pedi. Well once I finally got my pedi the lady kept insisting that I should get a gel pedi and kept telling her I didn't like gel for my toes only my hands. Then she started to talk about me in her language. How can I tell because all the women around me kept looking at me and they would laugh. So this was the last time. They have a sign in sheet and there were a couple of names before me. They do not do appointments after 4pm. Gel mani was $20 + $4 for French polish Reg pedi was $14 + $4 for French polish Total was $42 + tip She spent about an hour and a half on me so it definitely was not a rushed job They line the foot spa with plastic and the nail instruments were in sterilization packages... so I assume they sterilize them. Not a bad job with the nails. I'd say it's 95% perfect under my standards lol so it's pretty good! She indeed ask for wax and asked the lady to not touch her ends. My assumption was she did not want to over wax or over trim to avoid disapointment. Came Friday for a pedi and mani and eyebrows all before my vacation to Hawaii.... To be woken Sunday at 6:30 am with my right middle finger hot and throbbing with the onset of an infection. Yesterday I went in to just get a manicure I was going to get a manicure with designs like last time but felt rushed.
