First time here and last time even if I have a broken nail won't be choosing this place! I went in for a fill because I missed my appt with my nail person and had a meeting the next day! I don't remember the guys name but they where so bad that I took them off the 3rd day. Pedicure worse of it all!!!! She cut my toe nails TWICE because she forgot she had did that already on my right foot I told her but she still continued to cut super short ugh!!! I had been coming here for a few months now and I was going with Kayla and I would schedule an appt and would always wait 20 to 30 min. I've been coming here since they opened. Not only do they do a fabulous job on my nails but they also take good care of my son's nails. (He's 3 & has really bad anxiety and copes by biting his nails) I mentioned to Tracy [the owner] that I polish his nails bc it stops him from biting & she has never judged us. The nail salon is nice and has a many color choices. Most of the women do a great job. I would give 5 stars but two things recently happened which have made me give 3. 1. I tried to pay with debit and supposedly their machine wasn't working so the receptionist directed me towards their small atm machine and I had to pay $1.50 more just to take money out. It just doesn't seem right that I'm paying extra. 2 I tried to make an appointment about a month and a half ago and the receptionist said I was good to go with the person I made an appointment with. When I got there at my appointment time the woman was working on someone else. She was doing acrylics and had not even shaped her, and when I asked the receptionist she told me that Susan was not going to wait for me so she took another client. Again, I was there at my appointment time. I ended up having someone else do my nails. I still come as I said I truly like the salon I just think there could be better customer service. read more

Quantity of service over quality of service was my perception of this spot. First of all, let me say, I am particular about the quality of the work done on my nails, both the acrylic shape and the detail of the polish. My first visit would have been a great opportunity for this nail salon to gain a valuable, loyal client. Unfortunately they did a rush job and it was a disappointment, although I'm not surprised, in this day in age it's all about quantity, over quality. I think this may be a great shop if you want quick service, simple mani/pedi or gel polish, but it's hard to find a place that "gets you" and has patience with your needs if you are picky or particular. I live in Downey, but get my nails done in Torrance by someone who's work I love. I broke a nail today on the Downey side of town, and had to get it fixed tonight. Went to this nail salon upon calling, they did a pretty good job fixing my broken acrylic nail. They got me in right away which was awesome, but during the repair process I inquired about changing my black gel polish with a half moon design at the base of the nail bed, and whether it was the type of style that would be easy for her to redo for me... you know, so the gel polish on each nail looked fresh and consistent. She said she could do it, so I agreed. Once she got all the gel polish off she got frustrated with me that I didn't like the lazy way she was repainting the polish design, it wasn't what we agreed on, but she tried to convince me it was. After much conversation between my service provider and the rest of the nail salon employees (all in a language I dont speak or understand) the manager then came over and kindly took over the task of helping since she understood "the esthetic" I wanted a little better. Too bad she did a lazy, rush job too. I really wanted to like this spot, but it's not right for my needs, both from a technical and a customer service perspective. This is actually my first time posting a review for a business, but my experience was so great I just had to! I was recommended by a friend who went earlier, and her nails were on point so I decided to go. When first arriving I was greeted right away, and was even offered cold water. The place is really clean & professional, and they have a lot of employees so I had absolutely no wait time (keep in mind I came in on a Monday evening). Jennifer did my refill for a full set & they came out so amazing. She was such a sweetheart too that it made my experience better . Actually, every single person there was in such a good mood, friendly, and polite the whole atmosphere was just fantastic. The first time I came to this salon I was pretty dissapointed. I got a full set and a spa pedicure. Lee did my full set. It was my first time getting acrylic nails. She left them kind of thick the shaping was okay and there was a lot of excess acrylic under my nails that was not taken off. My toes werent the best. Parts of my nails were not painted and the cuticles had not been removed or anything. The whole experience was really rushed. I decided to give this place a second chance. I went in for a fill 2 weeks later and kathy did my nails. She noticed my nails werent the best because she even asked me if I had ever been there before. Kathy did a beautiful job on my nails, if I do return it will be for kathy. She made them look so much better and cleaner and she took her time. I also had a pedi with a woman named Sheila I believe. She also did a great job on my toes she cleaned my cuticles and recommended a gel pedi which is still on my toes looking great 3 weeks later. This past Monday I went in to take off my acrylics since im moving back to santa barbara and my roommates have told me several times that the nail places werent too good with acrylics so I thought it would be best to get a gel mani. I got assigned a woman named jennifer. Keep in mind that I had never gotten acrylics so I didnt know much about the whole process. She starts taking off my acrylics with a plastic nail. It was pretty painful and my nails looked awful once they were off. I got a gel mani which looks pretty rough as you can see in the picture. It wasnt until today that I was talking to my aunt that she told me that she shouldve taken off the acrylics with foil paper and acetone, not another nail. I came in on a Friday afternoon once I was done with work. I don't get my nails done often but when i do it is very soothing for me. Found No1 Nails on yelp of course. Found a good parking spot (wish there was more parking but its a very busy shopping center). When I walked in it is very clean and I signed in my name since id never been I didn't have any preference on who saw me. Maybe like 15minute wait but again its a Friday afternoon of course they are busy. While I was waiting to be called i picked out my nail polish from the wall but come to find out they have a stack of colors to choose from since I was doing a gel manicure. Found another color I liked and Tracy went to work on my nails. She was very thorough in cleaning and shaping my nails. She made sure they were all the same length and shape. This place is horrible with making appointments and not sticking to their appointment times. I had to wait 50 minutes after my appointment time to be helped. They told me "just wait a little bit", so I stayed and that turned into an hour later. It's so unprofessional to not stick to appointment times And especially when it's not busy at all. I ended up leaving because they wanted someone else to do my nails when I had requested someone specific. The staff are really nice. The salon is nice and clean. They have a great selection of colors. My gel mani/ regular pedi looked good when I walked out. Unfortunately, two days later my gel manicure already had a major chip. I went in and they fixed it for free, which was very kind of them. However, a day later I had another chip. My gel manicure managed to stay intact for less than 4 days and my pedicure started chipping less than a week after doing it. I am new to the area. I have been doing my nails at a different salon for years now, and my gel manicure and regular pedicure last me three to four weeks. I would be happy with ones that last two weeks. She even cut my nails very uneaven. Other places add a clear coat on top so that it gives it a nice shine and dries faster. Not this place. I'm using my husbands Yelp account because I don't have one. I came in today to get a mani/pedi. I asked for a regular one as they asked if I wanted gel. I politely answered "just a regular one today". Anyhow, the lady that I was set up with continually asked me if I wanted gel. I didn't quite understand why she insisted I get gel. It's only my third time here and last, she seemed to get upset with me because I didn't want gel.I felt asked if she did a poor job and I definitely didn't get my monies worth. I understand up selling and I am all for it, but please don't make me feel obligated and don't get upset with your Customers for not accepting to upgrade. Like I said, this was my third visit here, the first time was ok, the second time I couldn't remember the name of the lady who took care of me the first time so I was treated like I was crazy.
