You can't miss this location. The Frame sign is easily visible from Maple Avenue. Once I entered, the first things I noticed were that every seat was filled, photography adorned the walls, and photographic equipment was thoughtfully placed throughout as decor. What struck me next was the absence of that warm coffee aroma that usually hangs heavy in the air in your typical community-centric coffee shops. Honestly, I didn't think much of it until... But before I get to that, let me back up. I was warmly greeted by a young lady who directed me to where I could place my order. "A caramel macchiato," I said with great anticipation. "We prepare the traditional macchiato here," she replied. "Please explain?" Her explanation, which consisted of a shot of espresso in a small glass or cup, followed by a small amount of steamed milk, gave me pause. What I quickly realized was that my understanding of coffee recipes was largely built around the Starbucks menu, which is another reason why I'm migrating away from the Little Green Mermaid. At any rate, I pivoted and ordered a latte with caramel. The barista took great pride in crafting my drink, even checking with me directly to ensure accuracy. Everything seemed perfect until... My first sip. Sorry, but I was underwhelmed. The flavor of the coffee seemed muted. It lacked that coffee punch that hits your tongue and makes you feel grateful for its invention in the first place. This also may explain why this shop lacks that warm coffee aroma. I gave thanks and left Frame Coffee Roasters wondering if there was another coffee option nearby. I took a few more sips, hoping for a hidden burst of flavor to emerge... But nothing. Nothing left but a lukewarm cup with an interesting name, holding 80% of a drink that I couldn't bring myself to sip again. One thing's for sure, two things are certain... I'm not a fan of their coffee beans. Aside from the "traditional macchiato" education, this was a wasted trip. I can't recommend this as a coffee destination. I only go there for their delicious lattes and baked goods. Considering that I'm there at least once a week, I'm glad they now started a point system so I get to have my pastries free every so often.
