Very cute tea house for freshly made matcha and teas. I mostly love coming here for the soft serves because they rotate their flavors every season or so! It's light and refreshing.
Drove from far to come here. Great place to get some work done, study, or catch up with friends. Their menu is projected on the wall which is unique and easy to reference. Quick service and I had no issues with staff. Got the Midori Lychee drink and tried samples of the Matcha and Ube flavored soft serve. The Ube was sweet and yummy while the Matcha was less sweet than I expected, but still sweet and decent. I won't lie, I liked matcha soft serve at another spot better than this place, but it hits the craving. The Lychee drink was refreshing and good. Loved the vibrant green colors in their drinks even after being mixed. Overall, good and not bad but I think I had higher expectations of the taste given this place is raved about on social media for this being a top tier matcha spot. It's decent, but not the best matcha drinks I've had.

With the weather getting nicer, I begin to crave ice cream. I got the signature matcha soft serve here and it did not disappoint. Creamy and not overly sweet made for the perfect treat. So Bon tea has been on my bucket list as places to try because I live in Maryland and the drive is a bit further out. I was working in centreville last night so I finally had the chance to swing by. I really wanted to try a soft serve option but it was way too cold so I opted in for their lychee matcha. It was so good! And the decor is beautiful, very zen and Japanese inspired.
This is THE matcha spot in NOVA! Bon Tea may not have a whole lot on their menu, but each item is crafted with precision and plated beautifully. The black cocktail napkins are such an elegant touch. If you are the type to drink unsweetened matcha, this place is for you. They do a whole lot more than the basic matcha latte, including the midori lychee and hibiscus lavender--I would describe both as fruity refreshers with strong tea elements. Soft serve flavors rotate every 1-2 months (check out their instagram bio), but they always have matcha. I love their signature swirl. Highly recommend the misugaru flavor (12/2025), which has this amazing nutty, roasted grain flavor.
I got their matcha soft serve which is the best out of the menu probably. A little overprice and the matcha is okay. The setup is ok and it's still pretty popular so there was a long lines. Took a while to get my drink. It's ok to try for once but I wouldn't get it often.
I came here when the banana milk flavor was there for the soft serve, and I did not love it. It was somewhat smooth, but it still had some sort of icy texture to it, not sure why. I also didn't love the banana flavor, but not sure if that is just my bias because I don't love banana flavoring generally. I wish they just had a milk flavor soft serve all year round. Service was fine, ambiance is good. The place is pretty spacious, I could see it being a decent place to study or to do work. I would consider coming back again when a new flavor comes that I think I would like.
Stopped by since our hotel was like 5 minutes away and it caught my eye. We tried the matcha affogato and of course the swirl. I do like the banana milk on its own. The taste definitely took me for surprise but ultimately opted for a swirl which complimented each other well. It was spacious with lots of open space, small tables and clean. Great for small groups and dates.
This is one of my favorite tea place honestly, has never done me wrong for the past year. All of their hot tea options are GREAT! Very warming, very calming. Honestly super soothing and I can't recommend it enough. The workers are super patient with me too, I was hesitant on what to order and they gave me suggestions on what they like on the menu each time. As for the area, it's a too notch area if you want to just sit down and chat with friends, or maybe do some homework. The tables and chairs are super comfy and you can sit for a while. Highly recommend!
Honestly matcha by itself was too strong for me but with the addition of brown sugar it was better balanced. very limited in variety, simple menu. Good study environment! Cashier was very pleasant!

I had the Midori lychee which is lychee juice with matcha, it was really refreshing and tastes like a sparkling soda. Their matchas are whisked by hand and my order came out really fast. You can tell the matcha is really good quality. The service was great and the employees were nice and helped my friends with their orders. They let us try samples of their seasonal soft serve flavors: all delicious! The matcha soft serve is amazing and sweet. The shop is really clean with a quiet atmosphere.

I've visited here a few times after Spa World, and I am totally addicted to the iced matcha limeade. (Once I had to order a second one during the same visit when a visit with a friend was stretching longer than planned!) I love watching them carefully make each drink fresh, and you can tell the employees really take the preparation and service seriously! The matcha ice cream has also been good when I've gotten it, although some of the rotating combos are better than others. There's plenty of seating, and there are even extra tables and chairs in the center to set up when it gets busier. It's definitely worth a visit here whether you are looking for a beverage or a sweet treat! read more

(rating 4.5) I've been here twice now and both times they were out of oat milk--which was super disappointing. The first time I chalked it up to coming later in the day, but even when I came earlier this time, still no oat milk. Their soft serve is actually really good--creamy, smooth, and not grainy at all. But the matcha latte fell flat. The whole milk they used tasted oddly bland, and this is coming from someone who usually likes subtle flavors. I really wish they used a higher quality milk to give it that rich, creamy texture you'd expect. Cute space and solid soft serve, but the drinks could use some work--and please restock the oat milk! read more
Came here for some dessert after dinner. Didn't look much into the menu but my friend said the matcha here was good so we went with some matcha soft serve and a matcha latte. Matcha soft serve was actually really good. You can taste the matcha in the matcha part of it and i believe the other half was a blueberry (or some sort of berry) swirl. The matcha latte was good as well. It came unsweetened and i believe you can add a sweetener on the side. Service was nice and friendly here. You can see the effort the worker put into trying to get the perfect swirl of soft serve haha. And you can see them whisk and make the matcha latte right in front you of. Cafe was a vibe. Inside was pretty spacious and had a good amount of seating but it does fill up fast. There is some outside seating near the entrance as well. read more

WOW!!! The affogato was incredible! An easy 10 out of 10! I was able to choose from 3 different flavors for the soft serve and this time I went with true matcha. Honestly, I'm not usually a big fan of matcha, but it paired so well with the rich and smooth espresso. It might actually be the best matcha ice cream I've ever had! Everything is made fresh to order, so there might be a short wait if it's busy, but it's 100% worth it. I also love that they rotate their soft serve flavors seasonally. It definitely gives me a reason to come back and try more! The staff were super friendly and polite, and the shop is decorated very nicely. I personally enjoyed looking at the indoor plants and it's a cozy, relaxing space that's perfect for enjoying a treat and unwinding. read more
I love that they have monthly soft serve flavors. My favorite release and the one that keeps me going back here is the cà phê sữa đá (vietnamese iced coffee) with fresh milk swirl. There's a few more days left this month (November 2025) for this flavor so I recommend you go get it while it's still available read more

Matcha is so good here, both drinks and ice cream! The ambience is really good for a friendly catch-up or if you want to study a bit. The place can be packed on a weekend, which is expected. I am also a big fan of their teas, whenever I feel the need to relax and detox. read more

The vibe of this place is so nice and relaxing, I love the earthy theme to it. I also like that you can sit "bar style" where they make the drinks, thought that was pretty unique for a cafe. The service was pretty standard, and this place can definitely get very crowded. The staff is able to get your order out fairly quick though, which I appreciate. The soft serve is very rich with flavor (for both black sesame and matcha), which I love! The Midori Lychee was sweet but the taste of matcha was strong enough to mitigate some of that extra sweetness, I would definitely enjoy it on a hot day. The Matcha Limeade was also good, and a perfect amount of sour. Matcha Affogato was very strong but good if you are craving it. Will be back! read more
Came here after eating Korean BBQ next door, and tried the matcha and black sesame swirl soft-serve, the only 2 flavors available that night. Upon entering, there is a clean, modern vibe with wooden tables and chairs, and a few high tops. The tea house was pretty busy when we arrived around 9:45pm on a Friday night - most of the tables and chairs were taken with the exception of a few. Since we only got soft serve, the service was quick, as expected. As for the soft serve itself, the matcha was very earthy tasting, which is good if you don't like your soft serve very sweet. The black sesame tasted as expected, but wasn't anything special. I will probably visit again the next time I'm in the area to try out their drinks, and maybe give their other soft serve flavors a try as well. read more

Bon Tea's matcha is great, especially the Midori Lychee, but I normally stop here for their soft serve. They have a rotating monthly flavor and this month's was Thai Tea. High-quality soft serve and they give you plenty, even if the cup looks small. I love the flavors they have and it's fun to see what they're putting out next. There's a lot of seating inside, definitely a place where you can do work or hang out with your friends. It's pretty busy on weekends since it's right by Sō, but the employees work quickly even when they're whisking matcha. read more

This ice cream shop is very well decorated and perfect for a quiet study or work session. The ambiance is also good for a casual ice cream date or catch up hang session with friends. They only have 3 flavors (matcha and vanilla) with the 3rd one constantly changing. When I went they had blueberry which was delicious! We got the blueberry matcha twist (4/5) soft serve and I really liked the tartness and right amount of sweetness on the blueberry. It was rich and light at the same time. The matcha was good too and had a deep flavor but it wasn't as creamy as I expected. Overall, very solid ice cream/soft serve place with good flavors! read more
I'm personally not a fan of Matcha, but I do enjoy tea every now and again. My friends came in to get some Matcha and I was immediately sold on the soft serve options. When I was there, the choices were Thai tea or sweet milk so I did a swirl of them and it was the most beautiful Looking soft serve I've ever seen. Flavor was on point as well. read more
Love the vibes of this cafe. They go for a japandi look so it's calming & inviting. It seems always packed though so maybe not the best place if you want somewhere quiet but we tried their matcha & seasonal (strawberry) soft serve & it was delicious! I struggled to find official confirmation on this, but I suspect that this is the matcha soft serve window that used to be a few blocks from the White House, having opened an expanded location out in the boondocks. While in a nondescript mall, the place had a fairly strong atmosphere inside. It was busy, but I was impressed with how quickly the one guy working there was able to churn out drinks that require extensive whisking. I went for an affogato, getting my milk-flavored soft serve with a helping of hot tea. The flavors were as pure as I'd hoped. Flavors rotate, and sometimes vegan soft serve is offered (though not always). They don't have anything besides drinks and soft serve ice cream, but I don't think they need anything else to be a success. read more

Got the blackberry matcha swirl ice cream and it was delicious. The blueberry was tart and the matcha was not watered down and strong. The cafe is also a nice modern space to catch up with friends or study. read more

This is my favorite place to get authentic, high grade matcha whenever I'm passing through VA. Usually go out of my way to make a pit stop because it's just that good! Was fairly disappointed at my last travel because it's maybe few times at most a year I get to visit and this recent trip being over a year since my last visit to Bon Tea House. What was disappointing was the hours for Sunday says they open at 12 on the door but apparently it's 1pm. Sadly we had to hit the road to be on time for the trip and had to miss out! Doesn't change that this place gives top notch match soft serve and has other unique flavors to mix as well. Love the interior decor and hopefully timing works on my behalf to enjoy their products next time! read more
I loved this soft serve! Absolutely delicious and so gorgeous as well. The line to order was super fast despite it being busy inside. At first, I was like wow why all the hype?? I ordered the cold matcha Midori with Lychee to go. At first it was not mixed so all I tasted was cold, unsweetened matcha. I wasn't impressed. Then I took few more sips, then WHOA. It hit me. This was amazingly complex, unsweetened high quality mixed matcha tea. Ok I get the hype now. The decor inside is wonderful. Like minimalist Japanese garden but inside. However the acoustics inside is a bit loud with all the people chatter amplified I'm the beautiful space. Which can be a vibe of im itself. Anyway - will be back to try more unsweetened authentic tea! read more

Is the soft serve gluten free?
The seasonal flavor might have gluten from the nuts. The Matcha flavor does not have gluten.
