I usually come here 1-2/week ... and they just tossed out an entire room of 20+ people working ... after they already made their purchases ... declaring that they can't work here today! Rudely, like we were in the wrong. .... I'm sorry but, people come here to work, so if they can't today ... then you gotta tell them before they make their purchases. And if you have to make a change last minute ... then you apologize for the inconvenience and tell people as nicely as you can. That just seems like basic human decency to me. This is a really unique place. The drinks are good and the food is even better. I recommend trying the fried green tomatoes that come with a dusting of paprika-red "rib rub" and a side of spicy cheese made with a Maryland white cheddar. This is a tasty snack. read more

The restaurant bar in the lobby of The Line hotel never fails me. We've moved from Adams Morgan, but tonight we are back for dinner and the BEST NEGRONI IN TOWN. These guys make their own blend of Red Vermouth, so the balance of the cocktail is absolutely perfect. I miss the top floor restaurant, and feel it's what's missing from this part of town. It's a bit crazy that the restaurant could not run most of the year, and be closed for bookings (weddings, parties, anything) from time to time. read more

Three friends and I had a startlingly bad time at No Goodbyes. We were hoping to have a special dinner with a friend who was in town, so we made a reservation for 8:00. We were told to have a seat by someone at the front of the hotel, but and no one came by until about 8:20 to give us water. We had to wait quite a bit more time to order drinks, and another long time to order food. The server seemed sort of surprised we were there and didn't know the short ribs were out until about ten minutes after I ordered them, so two of us ended up getting the chicken, and the other two people got "delicious salads" with chicken. Those two people felt the salads were underwhelming but not bad; however, the chicken entrée was so overcooked (overcooked meat and burnt skin) that we were unable to cut through it with steak knives. I wanted to tell someone about this, but no one checked on us for 25-30 minutes, and there were no staff members in view. When someone finally came by, the two people with salads were finished with their meals, but those of us with chicken hadn't been able to eat anything but potatoes. I demonstrated how you couldn't even saw through the chicken with a very sharp knife, and the person who checked on us (not our server) was kind enough to take the meals off of the bill, but at this point it was close to 10:00 and too late to order anything else. It was just a really bad experience, and I went home pretty hungry and tired. read more

No Goodbyes certainly has an interesting vibe. It's a coffee shop vibe during the day and it turns into more of a full service restaurant at night. The large building with high ceilings is an old church and the seating is a combination of tables, couches and booths. We arrived for the end of happy hour (3-5pm) on a weekday and got a glass of house wine. We intended on eating dinner but decided to go elsewhere since it still felt more like a coffee shop with a lot of people working on their laptops. I saw someone munching on the charcuterie board which looked pretty good but I can't speak to the rest of the food. If you're looking for a more informal vibe for dinner or a good place to work from home at any hour of the day this might be a good place to check out--there is even some outdoor seating in front of the building. read more

Really amazing bartenders with exceptional drinks - order at the bar and you can bring the drinks outside to tables on the front steps. The outside area is quite pleasant, though occasionally noisy. You carry your drinks out, but food ordered at the bar can be brought to your outdoor table. The catfish hushpuppies may be the best hushpuppies I've ever had, packed with lots of flavor and soft (not chewy). The oysters are also quite tasty. read more

Wow what a phenomenal dinner. Such good vibes all around! This restaurant is located in The Line hotel and the decor and ambience were just lovely. The must try's for food are the oysters (not pictured) which were so fresh and delicious, the shishito peppers, the beets and berries, the wood fired 1/2 chicken, and this fantastic rhubarb ginger cocktail. The menu is farm to table and seasonal so we will 1000% be coming back to try other items on the menu! read more

Had a wonderful dinner at no goodbyes the other week. We started with some cocktails: I got the "it's springtime somewhere" with Jen, kumquat, egg white, and lemon served in a coupe glass. It was super refreshing and the perfect spring cocktail. My friend went nonalcoholic and got the blackberry shrub which was also very refreshing they have a few nonalcoholic cocktail options for those who are interested. Our first course was the sweet potatoes with the campfire cream. I thought they were good but they didn't knock my socks off. The ramp malfadini, however, was absolutely astonishing. I love ramps and they really use them perfectly in this dish. It was super rich but highly worth it. Next we had the pork belly with grits which was also very good and the brisket with homemade tater tots and creamed greens. Finally for dessert we tried the Carolina gold rice ice cream which was very tasty but the brittle that it came with was the most memorable part. A solid mid Atlantic Meal. I really like that they try to source all of their ingredients from local and regional purveyors. read more

We stayed at the Line last week for 3 days and ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner here along our stay. Everything is SO good, but the absolute highlight of our stay was Our bartender, Joe. He could not have been kinder and recommended a bunch of absolutely delicious items from the menu. The menu changes pretty frequently so I'm told, but they clearly know what they're doing with pretty much ANY type of food. We especially loved the bacon steak, the short rib, and the scallops. Also had a great BLT for lunch and a yummy sausage, egg, and cheese for breakfast! We also adored the jalapeño scone. I'm drooling just thinking about this place and can't wait to go back!! read more

"but you can sit at the bar" We get to a bar, and no seats are available. You know what, maybe do not turn people away when you are literally empty... Managers, take note. We went two blocks west to Lapis - a packed place, still got a sit-down table. In-out in 35 mins, 3-course meal for two. "We are fully booked" with not a single table taken - extremely shitty. I had a pretty disappointing dinner here, especially considering the price. Service was poor and food was mediocre. I was especially bummed because I came here for a fancy dinner while my parents were in town. I kept thinking while we were eating that we could have gone to so many other better places just down the street that are substantially cheaper. I've enjoyed the coffee and pastries here, but the dinner menu was a huge let down. I would stick to the cafe for coffee, but don't bother with the dinner. read more

I had drinks last weekend with my sister at this fabulous bar. After our very excellent cocktails, we had a flight of house made concoctions unique to this establishment: a strawberry infused vermouth that smelled like you were standing in the middle of a strawberry field; something with port and truffles, amazingly; a house-made green chartreuse to rival the French monks, and several others. I had one of the most delicious meals I've ever had in my life at No Goodbyes Restaurant. But the point I want to make from the start, is that the service you will be met with is par none. The person who leads you to your table will not simply show you where to seat. They engagingly check in with you and your day. This kind of genuine service hasn't existed in years. But the food!! I must praise the food because that is why we eat out. Wonderful things were told to me about the absolute freshness and local selection. As a matter of fact, I believe they do their own butchering on-site! As a child my mother took me to the butcher. I grew up knowing what fresh tasted like. Service was great, but the food was mediocre and over priced. I ordered the hash on the breakfast menu and all that came was cubbed potatoes with an egg on top. It was barely seasoned and they didn't have any hollandaise when I asked for it. This plate of potatoes was $18. I'm not sure about the other food, but my friend got the salad which was fine but nothing special. We went in for a nightcap after Dinner in Adam's Morgan. The Bartender is very good at his Craft. I had a Falling Citrus G&T, my Wife had a Moscow Mule the drinks were good. I really liked the the taste of my G&T bright and refreshing. The music was nice in the background, for decent conversation without yelling. Local Craft Beer selection was available. The Midnight Morning martini with Coldbrew and 3 espresso beans floated on top for garnish was a popular order, along with a Brunswick Sour with a Claret float on top.
