We got the brisket that was the juiciest brisket we've ever tasted, and it was end of the evening for them. I can only imagine how juicy it is in the beginning of the evening. The chicken was slightly dry, but understandable for the fact that it was the last order of the day. They totally compensated for it by giving us some sausage so I'm not mad. Sausage was juicy and delicious and had a little kick to it. The Mac and cheese was good but nothing to boast about, it was our least favorite item on the plate. The cheese corn was so phenomenal that we ate every last bite and even licked it clean, we believe it should be illegal! The roll was a normal, I think store bought. It's been replaced with a natural wood wall that also extends to the line. At the end of the line is what you came for, smoked brisket, back ribs, and more under a heat lamp (more on this later). Kafi BBQ keeps the hookah friendly outdoor space, the red (and comfortable) booth seating, and the smell of smoked wood. 1 Star. Service - The staff is great. Once it's your turn, they will slice your meat to order. I forgot to ask for fatty brisket the last time I went, and they were nice enough to slice it for me. Once your meat is weighed, you get your sides and desserts. Great system - I hope they don't change a thing. 1 Star, Food - I think I figured out why each of my visits to Kafi BBQ haven't been as good as others'. Because the next day when I heat up my leftovers, the brisket is amazing. Kafi BBQ's food sits under a heat lamp. If you visit later in the day when the brisket and ribs have been sitting out, your meat will be dry. All my visits have been the same, and I had to dip it in BBQ sauce (you may or may not like it). Same goes for the sides, the fries sound amazing, but each time I ordered them they had been sitting out. Now, the next day when I reheat the brisket (put it in an oven for 45 min at 225 degrees), it's some of the best brisket in all of North Texas. Heads up! Wagyu brisket comes at a price. I usually spend $100+ for me and my son. 1/2 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. Salahodeen continues to hone this craft. Each visit continues to offer a new experience. The bad - ordering by scanning the QR code never works, and your cell phone signal is weak for AT&T customers. However, you can always order from the back and the staff are so nice and helpful, which trumps technology challenges. In other words, skip the QR code and order in the back. 1 Star. Food - First the great - I ordered their fried chicken (dark), and it was pretty darn good. The chicken so very well-seasoned, had a nice crunch outside, and was super juicy on the inside. Not only was I surprised, but I also think this is going to be my go-to dish in the future. Why? Well, their burnt ends, which were tasty thanks to being tossed in some nice, tangy BBQ sauce, were a bit tough to bite into.
