Getting close to closing time...
Hal S.

I was absolutely shocked at how good the food was! It was getting close to 8:00 pm and we don't have any really good Chinese food in Roseville; at least not in our opinion. I always have to head into Sacramento if I want tasty Chinese food. Anyway, it seems almost all the Chinese restaurants close by 8 pm. I called my wife, and we decided Thai would be fine. I drove to our favourite, House of Thai Rice & Noodles, and it was closed, too! Lo and behold, China Express right across the street was still open! I guess I'll give 'em a try! I ordered Mongolian Beef, String Bean Chicken, General Chicken, BBQ Pork Chow Mein, and fried pork potstickers. The food was cooked fresh. The price was right. The portions were fine. And overall, each of the dishes were really tasty! The folks working were so friendly, attentive, helpful, and quick! From the exterior, I was not expecting the quality food or level of service we received. While the interior of the store is relatively clean, it's not decorated in the most elegant way. But hey, I'll be back! The food was that good! I guess it's true; you can't judge a book by its cover!

Got the salt and peppered pork with pork chow mein! It was very good lots of flavor and was prepared quickly!

This was my first time trying the salt and peppered pork and it did not disappoint! I love the salt and peppered flavor so much!

Ordered a combination chow mien for takeout and it was bland. Maybe that's why they gave soy sauce. The service was okay.

Double fisted. Should have been double chow mein fisted instead of fried rice double fisted. Bulging boxes and slapped well!

I ordered from Caviar. I got $5 off and free delivery to sweeten the pot. Delivery and prep was quick. They did make my brow raise with a 3 star review on Yeezy but I put that to rest with recent 4-5 star reviews and I was just getting fried rice and chow mein tonight which is basic and hard to eff up. I ordered bbq chow mein and chix chow mein and a bbq pork fried rice. Ok not hard right? Well, they had to screw that up. I got 2 fried rices and 1 chow mein. Rush. Rush. I assume. Oh well. Ahhh the food...yes...All boxes had a battle of the bulge. Bulging box lid that is. The rice was like a square brick with a square parapet on top to bulge the box. No rubber bands but piled to the top. Appreciate that. Taste? Good. Not anywhere the best but had a light smoky wok flavor and generous enough on the meat. Appreciate that again. From the looks of photos, this place is a quick to-go place or a sitdown. Not sure if dine in is the haps now or just takeout. Anyways, I can totally get behind $7.99 per on fried rice or chow mein fixes. I'll excuse the order fugup and give them a pass other than a one star laptop dock for that. Greasy as f$$k and good as f%%k. Now you know...fix you up some proper like! Stimulate them during these tough BS covid times!!! It will stimulate your taste buds in return!!

Shrimp Egg Foo Young- Delicious
Katbubu15 M.

Tried for the first time via DoorDash. Ordered the Shrimp Egg Foo Young which was in a delicious gravy sauce with mixed vegetables. Also got the Black Bean Fish, great flavor & wasn't mushy like other places. It has a slight crunch to the batter. House Special fried rice was ok, didn't have bbq pork in it. Only shrimp, chicken & beef. Next time I'll order BBQ pork fried rice. Everything was tasty! Will order again.

So I came here because I wanted Chicken Egg Foo Young, and they did not disappoint! The sauce it was smothered in was delicious, and this plate was loaded with veggies too! Get rice, you'll definitely want it for the amount of sauce in this meal.

Wonderfully refreshing egg drop soup!

Lunch time and today I feel sweet & sour chicken! I hit up China Express @ 5749 Watt Avenue in N. Highlands CA. I ordered from the lunch special menu of sweet & sour chicken, fried rice w/ egg roll on the side. There was some tech. issues w/ register but got a delicious bowl of egg drop soup for the wait! My lunch was delivered hot & beautiful! Everything was very delicious, hot and pleasing to my palate! I've eaten here a couple of times & food is always very good! All staff and especially cooks run a a great home-like restaurant that delivers great food in a comfortable, clean environment! Loved the food!!Definitely recommend !!

Not sure why so low stars. It's the best Chinese on watt ave. Tasty chow mein, and good broccoli beef.

My dad liked his combination plate but couldn't finish it because it was so huge! It was chow mein, Sweet n' Sour Pork, and an egg roll. I had the Crispy Beef, which was smothered in Sweet n' Sour Sauce. Rice does cost extra, but keep in-mind it's a big bowl of rice which can be shared with three other people. My uncle enjoyed his bok choy but he, too, couldn't finish it The waitresses were genuinely friendly, striking up a conversation with us first-time customers.

Last time I ate from here was in July or so and why I mention that is because someone in recent reviews said ownership had changed. I don't know if that's true or not, however it would make sense based on how the food was. It was not cooked fresh at all, definitely was leftovers or had been sitting for some time for sure. The taste was bad, and didn't smell great either. We didn't even finish our combo plates had to throw them away they were so bad. To add to all of that, I ordered two combo plates from the lunch special. Between 11am-3pm it's $11 for a combo plate. I called at 2:30 and picked up my order at 2:50. Go in to pay and it's $29 and change. Obviously they didn't give me the lunch special. I Didn't have the time or energy to argue that shit. I should've with how disgusting this shit was. Is what it is tho. Don't get me wrong the folks here are nice but their food is the opposite of what they are maybe that's why they're nice because they know the food sucks. My previous review/pics is from years ago. It does not look that good or taste that good anymore.

I took the chance anyway. I ordered the sweet & sour pork combo, salt & pepper pork & hot & sour soup. Let me tell you - no regrets! It's exactly the flavor that I've been craving a missing. With a few restaurants disappointing me not too long ago, this was such a great surprise. The food was prepared well. Chowmein not greasy. Cooked perfectly with a lot of flavor. The sweet & sour sauce was just saucy enough. A perfect merry of sweet & tinge of the sour tang. The hot & sour soup was perfection. Exactly what I needed in this 40 degree weather. They did NOT skimp on the soup fillings either. They definitely didn't rush to make or short my meal of any seasoning at all. Highly recommend!

Chow mein was good a greasy, but not much in the way of ingredients as far as mushrooms, carrots, onion or carrots. Plenty of pork, though. The potstickers were weird. DEFINITELY OUT OF A BAG. The wrapper was flakey like pie crust, not like normal potstickers. The chicken inside was pretty flavorful. I won't go back. There are better places for less $$$.

This restaurant had been…read moreon my radar for sometime, but the fact that it was called Folsom Palace lead my brain to believe it was in Folsom-took me a minute to grasp that it was actually right down the street from me in Citrus Heights. Our usual family of four was a family of three for the evening and this was the restaurant we chose. Boy did family member number four miss out! The service was impeccable from the moment that we walked in. That includes being greeted right away. The waitstaff was incredibly attentive and on top of the details. We ordered some pretty standard items off the menu to please everyone-vegetable chow mein, lemon chicken and pot stickers. Even though these might sound like boring dishes, they actually came out with such flair! The presentation on the dishes were gorgeous. They tasted amazing as well. I love the lighting of the restaurant. It gave it such a chill vibe. It's on a very busy street but you've never know it once you walk in it kind of feels like you are more tucked away in a smaller neighborhood..
