Mongolian Beef Lunch Special
john h.

I ordered their Mongolian Beef lunch special with vegetable chow mein. They served me some soup first which was passable. The main dish came out with beef, noodles and a small vegetable egg roll. The egg roll tasted like it was previously frozen. The Mongolian beef was excellent, it tasted good with the chow mein which was not overly seasoned. The service was good, water refills were prompt. The ambiance was bare bones Chinese restaurant.

This building was home to Chung King. Probably one of my favorite Chinese buffets growing up as a kid in the 90's and 2000's. Along with Luau Garden, Chung King served fresh Chinese food and endless amounts of it. So when I was in the area I decided to stop by and support a familiar place. Located right off Watt Avenue, Lucky Wok is a more than decent Chinese restaurant. My experience eating here was a good one thanks to the young man who waited on me. He was courteous and attentive. Food here was a solid 3.5/5 stars. Fried prawns stood out best. Big pieces of shrimp in a nice batter. The hot mustard sauce here is no joke. Go light unless you got a death wish! Peking pork here was cooked perfectly. I loved their sauce it was covered in. I'd return just for that dish. The Singapore noodles threw me off. They had a curry base despite not looking like they did in the picture. But I enjoyed all the veggies in it and I still ate it all. There was a female worker who talked on speaker phone the entire time lol. Her voiced echoed throughout the entire restaurant. I was the only customer and I wasn't going to say anything. Although Chung King is long gone it's nice to know a traditional Chinese eatery took over. Their food is worth a try as it's made fresh and the portions are huge, also it's pretty good!

Soup is a liquid dish typically prepared with water, broth (meat, fish, or vegetable), or milk. It contains various ingredients. In this case, a sea of produce and vegetables. But here, it seemed to be a vegetable broth with a significant seafood content. Which, of course, greatly spoiled the soup's perception. We used to order soup at this place all the time, but today was apparently our last time. No one even wanted to finish it. A whole bunch of carrots and broccoli. Thanks, but let's change the soup's name to the real thing: carrot, broccoli, and seafood soup.

Sweet & Sour Pork with Chowmein Delicious.

Was passing through the neighborhood starving. This place came up with good ratings. I ordered to go an hour before closing. And was skeptical of how my food would be prepared... I took the chance anyway. I ordered the sweet & sour pork combo, salt & pepper pork & hot & sour soup. Let me tell you - no regrets! It's exactly the flavor that I've been craving a missing. With a few restaurants disappointing me not too long ago, this was such a great surprise. The food was prepared well. Chowmein not greasy. Cooked perfectly with a lot of flavor. The sweet & sour sauce was just saucy enough. A perfect merry of sweet & tinge of the sour tang. The hot & sour soup was perfection. Exactly what I needed in this 40 degree weather. They did NOT skimp on the soup fillings either. They definitely didn't rush to make or short my meal of any seasoning at all. Highly recommend!

First time ever trying the food here at this Chinese spot. I did pick up and was greeted very quickly by a lovely man. The ambiance inside was observed to be clean but also empty. It was about 230pm on a Thursday so lunch special ends at 3pm everyday. I got my food and came back to work and the food was okay for the price. The General Chicken was soaked in the sauce as you can see in the pic, the Chow Mein was meh. The potstickers were really good though! I kinda felt like the general chicken and the chow mein was missing some flavors but I did love how my food was really hot when I picked it up and then driving back to my work. It's not a bad place to order it but for me I will try their dinner specials and see if I want to go back again.

I purchase some war wonton soup I wasn't feeling well. The soup I can't say much about it because when I got home I put some mama noodles in it with the season packet so it's good now but here's my complaint The pork that they put in the soup is old you can taste that flavor when pork is old how dare they everything should be fresh I'm going to put this picture of this piece of pork up I threw the rest of it away I kept this piece because they pretty much all look the same The service was great very nice people The ambience I only have one problem with that When you own a restaurant you need to keep everything clean including your inside doors they shouldn't be black I should have took a picture of that it was horrifying about his horrifying is this piece of shitty meat. Don't put day old three day old or whatever the case may be meat on a customer's plate in their soup or otherwise

I and my family first time this place. A menu with a wide variety of dishes. All so good and fresh!

General Chicken & Fried Rice
Sam S.

Dined in and had the General Chicken with Fried Rice combo for dinner tonight. The fried rice visually appeared ok, but was slimy upon taste. There were a few hard pieces of rice also. I concluded that the rice served to me was old and overdue. Nice people in the front but should not be serving old rice to customers. tsk tsk

Salt & pepper prawns combo

Food is really good I ordered the pawns combo. Comes with complimentary soup & a side of rice. The price is supper affordable for the large portions ! The servers was very attentive. Bright us some hot sauces and tea. Restaurant can get loud during busy times. But for lunch and after it's pretty quiet.

Looks good, unfortunately it doesn't taste good. No veggies in the chow mein and greasy fishy tasting food.

However, our server was incredibly well informative and friendly. We ordered and enjoyed our meal. Food comes out family style and we were incredibly full. My only criticism was that the orange chicken seemed to have no crunch. We had vegetarian tofu and mushroom dish that had a great flavor profile. I especially loved the fried rice as it tasted similar to the cooking profile of a Benihana style fried rice.

This is a famous Chinese food spot for local politicians for lunch and NBA stars and now the Oakland A baseball team. There is no back door or underground tunnel entrance or exit. Our server Yee was super nice and he liked us so much that he gave us a free slice of their famous banana pie. This pie is made fresh everyday. The pastry chef has 2 sous chefs to help. Their orders can be up to 300 pies a day! This very flaky thin crust with the beautiful layered at an angle with a fresh whipped cream topping. We wanted to try it but didn't want to get super full. We ended up finishing the complimentary piece of pie. We also had the wok fried pork spareribs that had this lovely seasoned jalapeño with that crispy bite but be careful of the bones. It reminded us of chicken wings. That crunchy crispy outside with perfectly cooked meat on the inside. The tip was to use the hot mustard and ketchup to dip it in. They give you a plate of various sauces from mild to super spicy. The sweet and sour soup is also made fresh every day with chunky vegetables with lots of flavors. We had the shrimp dumplings which were freshly made. The crab rancons were our favorite with chili sauce. These beautifully star shaped treasures were our favorites. We were super full. Parking was available due to no games going on. The street has parking but next door there is a valet lot for 12 dollars. If you're ever in the area, this is a must try experience. The place was packed but they let us stay and close the place down! Hence, this is why they've been open since 1939. Mahalo Timothy O'Connor for the recommendation! Loved the Buddha belly by the bar area up top.

The people were very friendly and the place was very clean. They have a decent size menu.. I was here for the congee, but looking at the menu, I saw the rice paper rolls. They have gotten good reviews, so I decided to try the. Chinese donut rice paper rolls. I love the savory Chinese donuts. The donuts were wonderfully savory and crispy, and the silky rice paper played against the donuts, absolutely perfectly. I'm not sure what the sauce was that was on top of it, but I loved it. It was a perfect match to the rolls. I was only gonna have one and take one home, but they were so good, I ended up polishing off both of them. For my congee, I decided to try the grass carp congee. Carp are bottom feeders so they can definitely have a muddy flavor. However, grass carp, as their name implies, swim among the grasses. It is a firm, mild tasting fish. The congee was perfect, not too thick, not too thin, and I could definitely taste the ginger and the scallions. They played along perfectly with the mild flavor of the carp. Because I had polished off both of those rice paper rolls, I made it through about half of the congee, the rest coming home with me. For congee and other Chinese dishes, I now have another place that's in my rotation. I will be back. Thank you.

They do a good job and we are in and out in less than 45 minutes. The place is cute with little toy collectables throughout the store. The staff are nice and we come here like 2x a month or more. The combo comes with chow mein and fried rice and an egg roll for $13.99 but I asked for steam rice instead of fried rice. Unfortunately, I didn't check my plate before leaving the restaurant because they gave me all steam rice and no chow mein.
