I haven't been here since Louie ran this place. I decided to check out Green Jade again since I heard they were under New Management and they just did renovations. Walking in the vibes were really different, it was honestly like a different restaurant. All of the decorations from prior owners were gone. Now the restaurant is covered in blank walls with pink and blue paint (nothing green) with no visual stimulation. I was quickly sat and I ordered the broccoli beef combination with half chow mein and fried rice and mapo tofu. It wasn't really busy, there were two other tables and our food took a while to come out. The broccoli beef was pretty good and the chow mein and fried rice were okay. Change isn't always good especially when it comes to this restaurant. They moved the drink refrigerator inside so it's really hard to tell what drinks are available alongside there aren't any drinks on the menu. Renovations that happened to the establishment makes me kind of sad. I would come back since I didn't get a chance to try the steak cube tomato fried rice. read more

The food is much better than before! We got a few dishes and everything was very tasty. Portions were large for the price--I thought the amount was about right for the price. It was very quiet when we dined in, but the inside was clean and service was good. I recommend giving this place another shot. read more

I ordered for takeout, shrimp with black bean sauce. I was pleasantly surprised to walk in to a fully remodeled restaurant under new management. My order was fresh and of a good portion size for the cost. The only thing that I wish were different....I'm accustomed to a fair amount of black bean sauce and this order seemed only "glazed" with sauce, somewhat dry for my taste and lacking in black beans, kind of sparse. That said, the dish was appetizing looking and quite delicious! I was told to ask for extra sauce the next time that I order. I WILL be ordering, again. read more

I ordered the Mongolian beef combo. Excellent. Service was punctual and considerate. We were the only customers for a 2 PM lunch. And each of us brought home enough leftovers for another meal. A hidden gem which is located in a strip mall. It's also one of the few restaurants which is open on Thanksgiving. My dad liked his combination plate but couldn't finish it because it was so huge! It was chow mein, Sweet n' Sour Pork, and an egg roll. I had the Crispy Beef, which was smothered in Sweet n' Sour Sauce. Rice does cost extra, but keep in-mind it's a big bowl of rice which can be shared with three other people. My uncle enjoyed his bok choy but he, too, couldn't finish it The waitresses were genuinely friendly, striking up a conversation with us first-time customers. read more

I've been looking for a good Chinese Restaurant for while now and happened to stop in at Green Jade. I ordered the chicken chow mein and bbq pork fried rice. I was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful the chow mein was. Decent ration of veggies to noodle and not too salty. The rice was good. I will definitely return. read more

It's a shame that I have to change my opinion of this place. I did a pick up order a few weeks ago and I won't be back. Last time I ate from here was in July or so and why I mention that is because someone in recent reviews said ownership had changed. I don't know if that's true or not, however it would make sense based on how the food was. It was not cooked fresh at all, definitely was leftovers or had been sitting for some time for sure. The taste was bad, and didn't smell great either. We didn't even finish our combo plates had to throw them away they were so bad. To add to all of that, I ordered two combo plates from the lunch special. Between 11am-3pm it's $11 for a combo plate. I called at 2:30 and picked up my order at 2:50. Go in to pay and it's $29 and change. Obviously they didn't give me the lunch special. I Didn't have the time or energy to argue that shit. I should've with how disgusting this shit was. Is what it is tho. Don't get me wrong the folks here are nice but their food is the opposite of what they are maybe that's why they're nice because they know the food sucks. I am definitely disappointed in Green Jade as I've heard pretty decent things about this place so I decided to try them out. I ordered shrimp with Lobster sauce with a side of white rice considering their prices as a little on the higher side I had high hopes for the food. I did order my food to go. The inside is kind of on the dark side it is plenty of seating in the dining area it's located in an old strip mall and the staff is nice. Fast forward. I get my order and I get home and I am less than pleased with what I received. To play almost $20 why did I only get 4 shrimp yes 4 shrimp in my shrimp and lobster sauce. It was a lot of veggies, but mostly water chestnuts which didn't help. I called the restaurant and they said that's the amount of shrimp it comes with and if I didn't want it I could return the food and get my money back. Say less! I happily returned my food and got my money back and got Chinese food elsewhere that isn't going to fleece me. Will I come back here? Nope! It's a hard pass for me. Do not let the appearance fool you. The Green Jade new owners have only had it for a month. So far all their effort went into the food, service and new seating. I was with a friend running errands and visiting family in Carmichael and we decided to stop at Green Jade for an early dinner. Hadn't been there in a while and it sounded good. We were seated as soon as we walked in. We actually got there minutes before 2 large groups came in. There is plenty of seating, booths and tables. The decor is a little dated but not terrible. We ordered our food and sodas and it all came out pretty quickly, maybe too quickly, but it was good. We had the honey walnut shrimp, garlic chicken, egg rolls and pork fried rice. It was all hot and yummy. The rice was a little salty but we did get the pork fried rice. The honey walnut shrimp is my favorite and there was plenty of shrimp. I hadn't had the garlic chicken before but it was pretty good too. Service was quick. We ate our fill and had plenty leftover to take home. I well definitely return to Green Jade. read more

I really wanted to love this place. I called in an order and when they told me the family combo I got would be ready in 10 minutes, I had a feeling fresh would not be a possibility. I got to the restaurant within 7 minutes and it was already packaged and ready to go. It wasn't fresh unfortunately. I gave 2 stars because the wonton soup was good and hot but the rest of the food was less than stellar. The sweet and sour chicken didn't have enough sauce for even half of the order. The rice tasted a few days old. I attached a picture of what our Mongolian beef looked like. If you love a ton of onions and a few pieces of beef...then order this dish! Under new ownership. Food looked beautiful sadly cold. Well wonton soup was nothing but broth and cold wontons and a few pieces of chicken. They were no vegetables we got a combination plate of sweet-and-sour chicken, chow mein and fried rice. It really looked beautiful, but it was cold. We did tell the waitress and she was very accommodating and offered to add some things to the soup and warm it up to take home. Picked up a to-go order yesterday because we were craving Chinese food and they were close by. Also because we used to really like this restaurant. (We haven't been back for a while because of all the upheaval with the change of ownership or whatever the hell was going on with them, and because the last order we got from them was abysmal.) I will say that the food this time was nice and hot! and ready super fast. The downside for that is that the extremely cheap styrofoam trays that they now use were starting to melt because of the nice hot food. Do better Green Jade! Don't cheap out on your containers. They were so misshapen that one of them leaked all over the bag because it didn't hold its shape when the hot food was put in. As far as the food goes, the pork chow mein noodles were pretty good-we'd actually wanted Chow Fun but they were out when we called. We also ordered orange chicken and honey walnut shrimp anda large steamed rice. The portions were good on the chow mein and the orange chicken. Not so much on the honey walnut prawns which were pretty overcooked but still tasted pretty good. Additionally don't forget, this is honey WALNUT prawns; you're supposed to put walnuts in it remember? The food didn't justify the 50 plus dollars we spent on three entrees and a large rice. I would give four stars for customer service and three stars for food issues. I really wish they would go back to the way they used to be when they were top of the line back in the day. They have new owners. This was my family's Chinese restaurant spot for YEARS. We came here because the food was delicious, fast and inexpensive. New owners took 45 mins for what used to take 10 mins. I was told they are changing the menu - I ordered from the menu I had and unbeknownst to me they had already raised prices even though the menus weren't even printed yet. The food was blah at best. My favorite hot and sour soup was un recognizable, Mongolian beef and garlic beef tasted like the same dish and the spice level of the soup was so high that there was no flavor other than HOT. I have gotten takeout from here a couple of times a year for around 10 years. I got the Mongolian Beef and should have listened to the reviews. It was 90% onions, not kidding. That is just fraudulent advertising. It's super weird because I ordered 2 chicken dishes and they were 100% meat. I might give them more than 1 star, but the general chicken was super tough and dry. The orange chicken was the best dish, but still below average. I asked my 11-year-old son if he liked this place or Panda better, and he said Panda. I agree. A sit-down restaurant shouldn't be obviously worse than fast food. I'm no longer a customer. read more

I'd recommend Green Jade. It's close to where I live, so stopped in there one day. Glad I did! My family has become regulars here. The food is good, they have a good selection of choices for the vegetarians in our family, as well as for the meat eaters. The food always comes out fast, and they are very accommodating with requests (e.g. using less oil, etc.) On the rare occasion when a dish gets overcooked or somehow not exactly right, they're really good about remaking it. Service is friendly and fast. Li, the waitress, always recognizes us and greets us with a smile. She's started to memorize our orders. The restaurant looks clean, and the ambiance is one of a neighborhood Chinese restaurant, nothing too flashy and it's not too loud. I've been there many times and plan on going there again. Waitress was extremely rude, food was awful, walnut shrimp didn't have any walnuts and was hard. My mom and I used to eat at Green Jade when I was a kid. It was always a good time in a cozy atmosphere. I haven't eaten there in 8 years but I wanted Chinese food and thought of Green Jade. I ordered for take out. My order was ready quickly and the staff were polite. I got home and noticed the portions were considerably smaller which I expected since inflation has touched every aspect of the economy. What I didn't expect was how bad everything would taste. The chick chow fun was a gluey, mushy mess with powdery chicken pieces. I could only eat the insides of the potstickers since the "dumpling" portion was rock hard and hurt my teeth and when I bit into it. The orange chicken was sad and soggy. I rarely eat out any more because of the cost and when I do I expect it to be worth it. If you're looking for a great meal, take your money somewhere else or you'll be sorry!!! read more

There was a little tiny piece of chicken dipped in almost all bread crums. You couldn't even taste the chicken. And asked for a take out boxa d she brought one and poured all the food into the box that had no seporation so all the food was mixed up together. I order take out over the phone in the parking lot at my job and they tell me my food will be ready in 15 mins. When I get there in 10 mins, my food is ready. . I'm always ordering their lunch combos. It comes with chow mein and fried rice with a choice of entree. I've tried it with Beef Broccoli and Mongolian Beef. So far so good.
