Orange chicken chow mein and crab wontons

This is a family favorite my boyfriend has gone since he was a toddler and has taken me since before we had are toddler it's always great. My toddler always puts herself in a food coma. The orange chicken is always fresh and just perfect, the crunchy batter and soft moist chicken. My boyfriend always says you can't go wrong with wongs

Not too busy...

So we decided to give Wong's a go.... We were seated right away and given menus. We ordered egg drop soup, potstickers, sweet and sour pork w/chow mein and broccoli chicken w/steamed rice. Everything was good. It was a bit on the pricey side when you consider the location of the restaurant and the ambiance. The menu said you get a choice of rice or noodles with the special, it doesn't say you pay extra for noodles; but you do! You also pay for hot tea. I didn't quibble, but the menu is misleading at best. I suspect we'll ge back, mainly because it's not too far out of the way when we want Chinese food. But, there are a couple of other restaurants whose food is just as good, if not better, that come in at the same price, or a little less.... This could weigh into the decision making.

(Left to right) Hong Kong style chow mien, beef chow fun, special combo #1.

(Left to right) Hong Kong style chow mien, beef chow fun, special combo #1 Hong Kong style chow mein (good crunch and sauce to the noodles, exactly what I was craving. A tier below from the best ones in San Gabriel Valley in SoCal. Beef chow fun (4.5/5) , very tender beef and good portions Special combo #1 (4/5), #1 popular dish according to Postmates. Kinda like Panda Express but better ingredients and meat choice. Panda Express don't got that BBQ pork. I ordered through postmate so can't provide anything about service or ambiance. Food was hot and fresh and nicely packaged.

Combo Plate... Cashew Chicken, Fried Shrimp, Szechuan Beef, White Rice

Huge Portions... Great Old School Chinese/American Food. Super Friendly Service. Sooooo Delicious

Absolutely delicious hot and sour soup. Perfect balance of flavors and not too spicy (which I appreciated!).

My husband and I tried Wong's tonight looking for a new Chinese restaurant. Our only regret is that we hadn't found this place sooner! Don't let the 1980's look of the outside fool you into driving past - the food is well worth coming for a visit. While the restaurant decor was a little dated, it was clean and bright with comfortable booth and table seating. We were seated right away and the waitress was very pleasant, telling us more about the place and the food. We made sure to let her know it was our first visit, we loved it, and we will be back!

Only found a few shrimp tails and a piece of white fish. No seafood, just egg, tofu and fake crab.

DO NOT EVER EAT HERE. I used to be a customer since 2017. I will NEVER be back. They used to serve good food, now they just scam you with whatever junk they have laying around. The seafood soup had 1 tiny square piece of fish and a few pieces of shrimp but no whole shrimp, the rest of the soup was egg and tofu, for $14?!! Then the fried calamari was literally a piece of a calamari cut into thin straps and buried in tempura, not even 1 calamari, another $14!? Then there was the appetizer platter that tasted like old fish oil. And the 2 fried prawns were actually 1 prawn that was cut in half sideways and flattened. EVERYTHING WAS HORRIBLE. I called to speak to a Manager and they are never there until 8pm at night. The owners were not around either. I filed a bank dispute and THAT was the only time they responded, to deny my dispute and keep my money for selling me garbage Chinese food. They won't do the right thing and issue me a credit, they are scamming us. I called for a refund and the kids who answer the phone just give you the run around and say call back after 9pm. Don't they close at 9pm? STAY AWAY FROM WONGS CANTON CHINESE FOOD.

My dad liked his combination plate but couldn't finish it because it was so huge! It was chow mein, Sweet n' Sour Pork, and an egg roll. I had the Crispy Beef, which was smothered in Sweet n' Sour Sauce. Rice does cost extra, but keep in-mind it's a big bowl of rice which can be shared with three other people. My uncle enjoyed his bok choy but he, too, couldn't finish it The waitresses were genuinely friendly, striking up a conversation with us first-time customers.

Last time I ate from here was in July or so and why I mention that is because someone in recent reviews said ownership had changed. I don't know if that's true or not, however it would make sense based on how the food was. It was not cooked fresh at all, definitely was leftovers or had been sitting for some time for sure. The taste was bad, and didn't smell great either. We didn't even finish our combo plates had to throw them away they were so bad. To add to all of that, I ordered two combo plates from the lunch special. Between 11am-3pm it's $11 for a combo plate. I called at 2:30 and picked up my order at 2:50. Go in to pay and it's $29 and change. Obviously they didn't give me the lunch special. I Didn't have the time or energy to argue that shit. I should've with how disgusting this shit was. Is what it is tho. Don't get me wrong the folks here are nice but their food is the opposite of what they are maybe that's why they're nice because they know the food sucks. My previous review/pics is from years ago. It does not look that good or taste that good anymore.

Our usual family of four was a family of three for the evening and this was the restaurant we chose. Boy did family member number four miss out! The service was impeccable from the moment that we walked in. That includes being greeted right away. The waitstaff was incredibly attentive and on top of the details. We ordered some pretty standard items off the menu to please everyone-vegetable chow mein, lemon chicken and pot stickers. Even though these might sound like boring dishes, they actually came out with such flair! The presentation on the dishes were gorgeous. They tasted amazing as well. I love the lighting of the restaurant. It gave it such a chill vibe. It's on a very busy street but you've never know it once you walk in it kind of feels like you are more tucked away in a smaller neighborhood.. I'm definitely looking forward to the next visit where I can try some more items like their Korean short ribs, I'd love to try some of their Curry's and a lot more of their chef specials!

I took the chance anyway. I ordered the sweet & sour pork combo, salt & pepper pork & hot & sour soup. Let me tell you - no regrets! It's exactly the flavor that I've been craving a missing. With a few restaurants disappointing me not too long ago, this was such a great surprise. The food was prepared well. Chowmein not greasy. Cooked perfectly with a lot of flavor. The sweet & sour sauce was just saucy enough. A perfect merry of sweet & tinge of the sour tang. The hot & sour soup was perfection. Exactly what I needed in this 40 degree weather. They did NOT skimp on the soup fillings either. They definitely didn't rush to make or short my meal of any seasoning at all. Highly recommend!

Chow mein was good a greasy, but not much in the way of ingredients as far as mushrooms, carrots, onion or carrots. Plenty of pork, though. The potstickers were weird. DEFINITELY OUT OF A BAG. The wrapper was flakey like pie crust, not like normal potstickers. The chicken inside was pretty flavorful. I won't go back. There are better places for less $$$.

04.26.26 Mama (that's me) was in the mood for some Chinese,…read moreso instead of taking hubby for a sit down spot in Roseville/Granite Bay I've been meaning to take him to, we opted for takeout close to home. We've tried several spots in the area after our typical go-to hadn't been great the last few times we ordered. So, I turned to my trusty Yelp and found Pearl House. Hubs knew exactly where it was--next door to Grocery Outlet. I thought it was closed last time we were at GC, like closed closed. So when we saw pics from 3days ago, we knew that wasn't the case. Being 7pm on a Sunday, we saw they closed at 9pm. So, looked at their menu online, we decided on our order: Hubs' go-to whenever trying a new place is General Tso's Chicken, and I tried something new-Happy Family because I was in the mood for a protein variety dish, and this had quite the variety: scallop, shrimp, calamari, crabmeat, chicken, BBQ pork, and beef with a plethora or veggies. We also wanted egg rolls. I called and a lady answered, took my order, and said it'd be ready in 10min. Didn't take my name or number-wow! Not only did I think that was kinda crazy, but TEN minutes?!?! This was either gunna blow my mind or be horrible. We drove over and upon entering there were a few people inside leaving--not sure if they were also to-go or has finished eating there. I looked around and saw many empty tables, but clean looking dining room area. A lady behind the counter wearing a face mask asked to help me. I let her know I was there to pick up, and she asked what I ordered. Our order was already boxed up ready to go. Our total? $41 before tip. I asked her if they did sit down, she confirmed yes. Then I told her it was my first time in there, to which she asked where I lived and that they've been there for 37 YEARS! Then she said she hopes we like our food and to see us again. I grabbed a to-go menu and went on my way. The food smelled good and when we got home, I grabbed my own chopsticks and hot chili oil, and was ready to grub. In the box, besides our ordered food, they included sweet & sour sauce for the egg rolls, as well as soy sauce packets and individually wrapped fortune cookies. I first went for an eggroll, which was surprisingly longer in length than most other places. Took a bite and enjoyed that wonderful crispy outside texture, and saw it was veggie only inside--whomp, whomp. In my mind, these should really be called spring rolls. However, these had some REALLY great flavor!! Hubs enjoys meat in his rolls, but after explaining the flavor, he still tried one himself and was quite happy with it. He had taken a bite of his GT Chicken and said it was pretty good. He said it tasted a little too sweet, almost dessert-y, but that it was also really good. I tried a small piece and liked how crispy it was even in all the sweet sauciness. Then I opened my dish and boy oh boy did it look good. Now before I talk about how it tasted, I need to explain what I thought I was getting. The menu said all those proteins I mentioned, and that it was tossed with snow pea pods, broccoli tips, mushrooms (which I ordered without) and baby corn. All veggies I enjoy! So, what my dish actually came with (as you can see in my pic), there was onions, carrots, celery, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, NO calamari or baby corn or BBQ pork. That all said, I was most disappointed in not having the calamari, BBQ pork or baby corn. Sad, yes. But the overall dish made up for it. With that, I was not mad AT ALL, and surprisingly ate the entire thing in one sitting--NOT a usual thing for me!! Granted, I hadn't eaten since breakfast, but still. It was DEE-LICIOUS and I'll say Dee-approved!! I'm literally writing this review immediately after eating dinner because it was THAT good y'all! I couldn't not let my people know that Pearl House is legit and it's obvious why they've been around for 37 years. This may be our new go-to spot for that neighborhood Chinese food craving, IJS. So, if you're in the area and looking for some authentic Chinese cuisine, look no further and check out Pearl House for yourself. We most definitely will be back. P.S. And them fortune cookies are good too!
