Just no. I gave my mom a manicure/pedicure gift certificate for this shop as she has gone there in the past and had a good experience. While the lady that does her fingernails is always really sweet to her, the overall shop experience that she had this time means that I will not be buying any more visits for my mom or wife. They rushed her through, asked her to move chairs for another customer, her toe was cut twice - to the point it was still bleeding when we got home. Her nails had the overcoat put on over not dry color and they never hardened correctly. She brought this to the manager/proprietor's attention when checking out and was told "thank you for letting me know" in a super condescending smiley way. No offer to fix or do them over. Nope, Not having it. I took her to a different Salon two days later and had her nails fixed. They took their time and a week later all 10 finger nails look great. I figure most folks go to have their nails done as a way to pamper themselves a little. This is not the place to do it. Spend your hard earned cash somewhere that they want and appreciate your business. read more

WORST PEDI EXPERIENCE EVER--SUB PAR SERVICE. FACTORY-LIKE EXPERIENCE. I chose the "Deluxe" pedi. $35. Pedicurist rushed through all the steps like a bell rang and there was a race! To sum it up: There was no foot massage at all, no nail filing or buffing prep for polish, she dug into my shins with her thumbs when applying lotion, dug hard under my big toes with tools after my feet had barely been in the water, used towels that were scalding hot, barely scrubbed my feet, heels and calves, and rolled my pant legs down on top of still-wet lotion and ushered me out of the chair in what felt like maybe 15 minutes? (wished I'd timed it), leaving me "finished" with one coat of polish and zero topcoat. I think i got the boot out of the chair the moment my pedicurist got word that my friend, whose pedi started about five minutes before mine, had paid the bill and tipped. It's crazy this place was so busy when it was crystal clear to me that NK Nails want to collect their $ for the service and then rush you out of that chair ASAP to get to the next paying/tipping customer. I guess so many others are like me and neglect to read YELP reviews before patronizing a business or people (mostly women) have just come to accept shitty service? I'm going to try to not make that mistake again. I left feeling mad, which is far from the relaxed and pampered feeling I've come to expect from getting a pedicure, and later I had to paint on my own topcoat to boot. I go in to see if they fix it and they refuse saying it is my fault and I have to pay. Like what is that?! I barely have the nails on for 24hrs and it broke off because of how thin it was! They should have been empathetic and fix the ONE finger. I did just spend 95$ with them for services. Instead, the lady treated me poorly saying it was my fault and I need to pay. Never have I ever had a problem like this where they don't fix the nail. Please do not go here unless you want to be abused by the staff and treated like garbage or made to feel like it's your fault. Another 1 star review to add to their collection.... called to make an appointment & told them I wanted full set with design. No problem. I came in & showed them a general idea of what I wanted. The designs were SIMPLE (cow print, a smily face, tip only, etc), but there was going to be multiple colors. She tells me "pick a color" I said "you can pick them! There's multiple colors & I'm not picky! You're the artist so pick what u think will look the best!" She said "no. I'm not picking. You pick." So proceed to pick the 9 colors out. Then I sit down and show the lady the picture I had, she takes my phone shows it to a few people comes back and tells me "we don't do design. Only one color" said I can only get one color?! She said yes. So now I'm sitting here waiting on my friend... who is getting her nails done with 3 different colors. But I'm only allowed to get one. What is the deal??? Why does it matter how many colors I get? I am a paying customer and I always tip more then 20%. I honestly want to cry. My hands look horrible & I don't have time to go any where else. I typically frequent another lovely local nail salon and haven't found the need to go elsewhere except they don't do acrylics and my teen wanted acrylics so we decided to try NK. Bad idea. 1. This is not the place to go if you want to feel relaxed and pampered. I felt rushed to pick out a color and service so that should've been my cue to walk out. 2. The lady that did my shellac manicure was rude. I never got a chance to pick out my color but knew I wanted pastel yellow so I showed her a picture. She brought me two bright yellow neon colors. She said we don't have that color but I wasn't about to give in. She got up and grabbed 3 of the color sample rings and threw them on the table in front of me without saying word. I found the pastel yellow color immediately. Looks like you have it. 3. When she got started I had an itch on my face so I used my knuckle to scratch it and she scolded me giving me a lecture about makeup and nails..etc. How is that relevant when I used the back of my finger and not my nail? 4. She cut my cuticle too much on one finger. 5. She hurried so fast through the painting and got nail polish on both thumb cuticles. It's the worst. Looks like my 9 year old painted my nails. 6. NK Nails is a really popular nail spot in West Seattle. Every single time that I have gone, it has been super crowded and there is always people waiting around for their nail appointments. Making an appointment here is worthless. I made an appointment last Tuesday and when I got there, I wasn't seated until 30 mins later. Mask are required and thank God because they pack customers in like sardines. Social distancing is impossible. NK Nails overbooks which is why they are always slammed and slow. If they can't take you, then they should just say that but they don't. Also, don't get excited about the complimentary liquor. You are getting cheap wine. The red taste like rancid vinegar. Want a relaxing pedicure? You wont' get that here. The seats are very close together and it's far too noisy to enjoy your pedicure experience. Despite all of the negative I listed, the nail techs are professional and do a great job. I have always appreciated my nails from there and it makes all the craziness worth it. I would love to find a nail place as good as NK near home, but I have not yet so I will continue to make the drive to West Seattle. I would suggest going early! read more

This is the 3rd time I've ever gotten gel nails. It was for my engagement photos... Everything seemed fine when I left, people were friendly, service went well, color was good and even. I noticed that on almost all of my nails the cuticles were slightly painted in but that's fine, it was too obvious or bad looking. Now, 3 days later, I'm realizing gel polish on cuticles is horrible. As my nails are growing, the sharp edges are catching everything. I can't even run my fingers through my hair. I have one finger nail out of 10 that is done correctly. The only good that came from this is I won't walk out of a salon with gel polish on my cuticles now. But I won't return to NK nails either. This place is pretty pricey,I spent 53$ for a fill n 2 broken nails n 20$ polish to either have the gel or shellac peel off within 5 days! N hopefully they secure your nails on pretty good! I find my nails at this place either lift up :( which eventually they will fall off if I don't get into the nail salon quick enough (re:work) N if you price it correctly the price for a Fill ;) no shellac no broken nails doesn't equate! Some of these places try to REEL you in just to have your NAILS LIFT UP or cheap GEL to NOT LAST for 2 weeks! Ridiculous! Ladies there r better places out there! For the price they are decent enough and get the job done. However, my last visit I was paired with a nail tech who wanted to get very personal. "Do you have a boyfriend? What's wrong with you? That is not okay to be your age without a boyfriend. If you were my daughter I would be so embarrassed. Are you sure nothings wrong with you?" (And yes, I have seen the stand-up lol). I got a fill & the deluxe pedicure. This is the first salon I've found that can do the ombré nails I've been wanting!!!! & they did a fantastic job! Super impressed. They were also super friendly & seemed to really care about giving me exactly what I wanted. They have a ton of spa chairs so you hardly have to wait for an opening. & it's just a bonus that they offer complimentary beverages on a menu that includes champagne, soft drinks, & bottled water. I really like the location & the ambiance of the nail salon. However the technician that did my nails for me did a terrible job. She didn't soak my nails before removing the previous nails, she just took them off with a sharp tool and it hurt when she did it as well. She wasn't wearing the scrubs either. She also couldn't do the shape I wanted which I normally get. I recently moved to the area and this was my first and last time I will go here. Update and changed to a 4 star - went back 2 weeks later to remove my powder manicure and get a regular manicure (only $25 total) and decided this will be my nail place from now on. It's fast, cheap, clean, good and close to home. They always have an army of ladies at ready to be at your service. What else can you ask for in this category of nail salons? ------- No frills kind of place. Outdated decor and the staff chat to themselves and ignore you. I got a Parrafin pedi and it comes out in clear plastic bags they soak your feet in, so for the extra money, it doesn't feel like a "special" experience and my feet were not softer. Next time, I would skip this and get the classic pedi. They also upsold me into getting the powder instead of shellac (+$15) saying it would look better for the style I wanted - not sure if I got swindled or not but decided I wanted it to look the best it could so I paid for it. Pedicure was good though they charged me $15 more because I'm allergic to menthol and their $45 Paraffin treatment uses a menthol based mask. So it is actually a $60 pedicure if you have any sensitive skin issues. Manicure was below average. I switched to this salon a couple years ago because it was more convenient in location for me. The nail tech I use to go to did a great job, however sometimes the level of service was very inadequate or will come across as rude as I observed their interactions with other customers... Then my nail tech from my previous salon started working here! Love her so much. I'm always disappointed when someone else has to do my nails because she is off.... thanks Vi for being so kind :-) Most of the workers are friendly. My favorite pedicure nail tech is Jackie - she's really really efficient and super nice. Some other workers are really hit or miss and never consistent in their quality of work. There have definitely been times that I absolutely HATED my nails because I could tell they were distracted or rushing. I pay on average $75-90 every time I come here. I expect my quality to be top notch, will NEVER go to those nail techs again. Only my usuals - Vi and Jackie Anyways, they have a wide selection of polish. I really appreciate that. The always have new bottles of my regular colors that seem to be most popular. REALLY appreciate that. I hate when other salons have gunky almost dried up gel polish - yuck. Made my 5 year old cry: My daughter and I have come here several times as a special mom-daughter date. She was so excited to get mani/pedis- she wore her favorite dress and shoes and was happily chattering the whole way there. While we were sitting in reception, she accidentally dropped a polish and it broke on the hard tile floor. I realize this is messy and likely very annoying. The posted signs say that if you break a polish, you buy it- totally fair and something I don't mind to do. However, the man at the front desk got really upset and raised his voice saying, "you need to clean up your mess". I don't mind to do that, but I had no trash can, no paper towels, no supplies at all. Flustered, I picked up a big piece of polish soaked glass and moved toward what I thought was a trash can (actually a spot for used cloth towels). The man started yelling for me not to throw the polish in at the same time I saw it wasn't a trash can, so I stood with it in my hands. One of the nail techs came over and cleaned up our mess with great kindness, but she clearly looked embarrassed for us. By this point my 5 year old daughter was crying and everyone in the lobby was avoiding eye contact or offering sympathetic smiles. The whole situation was both embarrassing and uncomfortable. I'm sure my daughter wasn't the first person to accidentally drop a polish, and making her (and me feel bad) and ruining our time together was completely unnecessary. They didn't charge us for the polish, but I'd much rather have paid for it than had my daughter in tears. Thankfully, one of the kind nail techs told her that dropped polish happens Al the time and spoke to her kindly and calmly. I wish I would have caught her name- SHE was 10/10 (two others interacted with us but didn't really speak or make eye contact). The man at the front desk was unkind and not in control of his emotions. I hope the front desk man was having a bad day and this is not how he usually interacts with customers. read more

Nail chop shop. They rush and the pedicure massage was very light and quick. Probably won't come back again. Usually i like my nails but this time my nails are uneven and smudgy. The nail tech left polish on my fingers and hands. The pedicure lady was so nice but my full set i have to go home and file them to make the tips straight. I never complain and i am easily pleased but this time was a miss. My nails were so horribly thick and uneven I actually soaked them off myself with acetone. This place is literally just across the street from me which is why I keep returning, but after going three to four different times and experiencing the same lackluster service, I'll drive out of my way for a better experience. Staff is friendly enough, but the quality isn't there. You'd expect more from a salon that looks as nice as this. someone else mentioned it, but this place really does have a warehouse type vibe to it. While I haven't felt necessarily "rushed" before, I've had manicures where the woman doing my nails was barely paying attention, talking on her phone while painting, and I've been made to pose in awkward positions so that they can do my fingers and toes at the same time, quickly. The "massages" given are 10-15 seconds at best and again with no real effort. The biggest reason I won't be back is that EVERY single gel manicure I've gotten from this place has chipped and cracked within the first week. I've had gel manicures from other salons last the full 2 weeks and beyond, but never here. Are the polishes old? Does it have anything to do with how quickly and half heartedly they're working? I like NK Nails as it's a large salon in a very convenient location in Westwood Village. I've never had to wait for a service and all of the staff have always been very friendly and nice. They offer a complimentary beverage, which could be water, tea, soda or booze (beer, wine or champagne) and there's definitely been days for me that it was wonderful to relax with some tea and a pedi or other days to relax with some wine and a pedi. Know what I mean? Their prices are competitive with other nail salons I go to (my old haunt was over in Wallingford and it's hard to get that far from West Seattle these days) and the quality is usually good. I've had some beautiful mani/pedi's and I've had some not so beautiful ones, too. I will say, that even on the occasion I've received a bit of a sloppy polish application, I was never rushed in and out, no matter how busy they are. Perhaps just an inexperienced tech situation. I tend to stick mostly to pedicures here. They last a long time and they have several different types of pedicures with varying levels of massages and muds and scrubs. It's very relaxing. I have done a gel manicure but have found they don't last as long as other places. So, I stick to toes where it doesn't matter as much. I believe they have a punch card however you have to pay cash to get a stamp and I never seem to have cash so I never get stamps. The shop is well ventilated, so you don't smell too much polish and other chemicals used in a salon, which I appreciate. read more
