How does a train show up on the wrong track? 4 conductors and all of them rude. I am embarrassed for the state of NJ.

Buses are never on time. When you expect a bus to be there and it'll come up on the app it'll disappear; reading like the next bus is in 2hrs. When your drivers and operators call off make sure you have extra backups. It's ridiculous that people have to leave 2 to 3 hrs earlier just to catch transportation to get to work/school/ etc... Do better NJTransit. The decline in service is showing greater due to Covid. read more

I would select zero stars if I could. The NJT is so unreliable, the tickets should be free. My husband and I looked for a town that had a direct train line to buy a house in for the ease of commute, and every time I need to use this public transportation (on avg. once a week for work), it's either delayed or the trains are cancelled. Once you're actually on the train you can't even look out the windows because they are so disgusting. NJT needs new leadership to revamp their service to be taken seriously. LIRR and Metro north are so far superior in every way. read more

Wish I could give 0 stars. NJ Transit train lines NEED to be fixed. There is constantly issues with trains and the delays have gotten completely out of hand. I understand things happen but it's gotten to be quit ridiculous at this point. Especially for commuters and now they are raising prices and getting rid of monthly passes for the ones who use it the most. for all the problems they have they should be giving commuters discounts or something just for having to deal with the issues and delays. NJ Transit gets me where I need to be, and I can buy tickets easily via their computerized kiosks - and I can use credit cards. Some kiosks are fancier now, and let you touch the screen to select your destination - older ones still require you to input your 3-digit destination code. It was amusing, and mildly alarming to see a woman on the train chugging a Colt 45. (Sadly, she mentioned she was homeless which was not amusing, but she did wish everyone a good weekend.) Be sure to read parking signs at stations very carefully, as ticket prices for infractions are ludicrously high. Oh, and it's better than SEPTA. read more

Hey, NJ Transit does the best that it can on an old railway infrastructure, especially as Mother Nature has wreaked havoc these past couple of years. She has taken out service on various part of the rail lines with fallen trees, down power lines, wire and signal problems, and other storm damage. Trains sometimes run on schedule, sometimes they don't. Most public transportation options in the U.S. are like this. IMO, it'll only aggravate you and give you headaches if you expect so much from Transit. It'll never be like the bullet train in Japan or like the train system in Europe. For what it is, it works. Abysmal bus service. The buses are constantly late, and multiple times the bus never showed up at all. There is absolutely no communication regarding service alerts and their app is by far one of the worst apps I have ever used. Their customer service stii, and they don't do anything about the myriad of issues with their app, buses and service. read more

It goes well, until it doesn't. The Atlantic City -Philly rail line has the WORST mechanical issues known to man. There have been multiple occasions in the last three months where they have completely cancelled the trip, made us get on a THREE TO FOUR HOUR BUS, and completely ruined mine and everyone else's day. The staff are angels for dealing with the passengers but NJ doesn't maintain its public transportation properly. The fact that NJ Transit tells you to have multiple backup plans is absolutely ridiculous, since it wouldn't do any good! These issues are unpredictable but boy do they throw a wrench in your entire day and there's almost no way to plan ahead for them. If you need to guarantee that you'll be somewhere in a timely manner? Forget NJ transit, don't waste your time and money. read more

Always LATE!!! Can I sue NJ Transit for always making me late when using their app for checking train schedule?

I took a train from NYC Penn Station to Newark Liberty International Airport. It was my first time, but it was pretty easy to use it, including buying a ticket from the machine. I would have given a better rating if the conductor was not rude. Pros: + Cheap: $13 from NYC Penn Station to EWR + Fast: About 25 minutes to the EWR station (but give yourself close to an hour from NYC Penn Station if your terminal is far) Cons: - Rude, I repeat, RUDE conductor. She was giving attitude to passengers left and right. Without the rude conductor, I would have given 4 stars. How is it I get to the bus stop 10 minutes early for it to not come? This happens all the time if your going to put a bus schedule out uphold and arrive at the time u put on the schedule. I am writing about Military Park Station. This station is disgusting. I hate the fact that I need to use it to reach Penn Station. The station literally smells like a dirty toilet. You have to stumble over human waste to the train. You cannot sit down because it is invaded by sleeping homeless people. I am appalled that NJ Transit consistently raise fares but does nothing about the condition of their trains and stations. When you reach Newark Penn Station, it is much of the same. read more

At the very least, someone from your way overstaffed, 1am train crew, could have kindly mentioned that I should purchase a ticket online rather than in person, if possible. Took a train from Spring Lake to Penn Station NYC. There is a changeover in Long Branch and the conductor promised us that while our train was running late (the train was held up on a bridge), the connecting train was required to wait for our arrival no matter what. Got to Long Branch 12 minutes late and the connecting train was gone. It had left without us. The conductors were scrambling. They had to make the train come back, which it did. The conductors on our train could be overheard talking about how misguided and irresponsible the new train staff is and that they should have known better not to leave without the first train arriving. the bus 165 needs a new driver on Sunday's. this guy turns my 40 min local ride into an hour and a half ride . it's ridiculous. if your not going to operate express busses on sundays for the 165 then you need to change the driver for that route on Sunday's and the bus is Always 15 min late picking the riders up at the port authority read more

I catch a train every week to Newark Penn station. It's not the cleanest place but the service was good until today. Today the 12:53 train to Trenton Nj was cancelled. Passengers had to figure out how to get home. The front desk told passengers to figure out which train to get in order to get home. She had no suggestions other than to catch an Amtrak train which cost an extra $28 one way. This is poor communication and service. I will not take this trip again I'll drive my car. read more

They didn't tell anyone what doors to use to get off in Convent Station. Wasn't just me that missed their stop because of it. An elderly woman missed her stop as well then a transit person was rude to her about it like it was her fault. Great employees. read more

The NJT is my worst nightmare, on Clendenny Ave and JFK blvd in jersey city , the schedule is never accurate, on weekends forget about it , you will be late to work just by waiting for buses 30 minutes to one hour late. Stuck in NYC for the 3rd time in a row with delay after delay (although no delays noted on NJ transit site for any line). Had a connection in NJ main transit hub that decided to not wait after delays of NYC train (last train of the night). Told to take ride share or taxi home. Absolutely terrible. I commute to work everyday on the bus from Manhattan to Jersey and the buses are never on time and some of the operators are the ridiculously rude. Some of the driving on display by the operators makes me question how the ever got their license. Needs significant improvement in every area. read more

I am shocked by how unorganized the NJ Transit is as far as their 308 line for the 6 flags amusement park. My group and​ I arrived in the morning and were reassured, along with many other riders, that the bus would have services until 10:00 pm. Later on in our day we go to look for the bus schedule to see other times the bus would be heading back to NYC when we couldn't find ANY information. The website is out of date, there's no help when you call the customer service number, and in the end we found out the last bus leaves at 8:00 pm instead of 10!! Luckily we decided to leave at 7:00 but we know there were many people who arrived with us that were planning to leave at 10. Please get an updated website or make your information easier to access to avoid confusion and leaving paying customers stranded due to false information! read more

Great job driver of bus 5878 that is the 86 from Bergenline to Newport mall. Both my daughter and I missed our stop on our return from the mall on the 730 pm bus on today's date and your driver assured us we had nothing to worry about and he took us back to the correct stop. I'm starting to think ya'll all are just miserable. I asked the 608 bus driver at 8:48pm on May 12th for help and he looked at me as if i was annoying him. Excuse you??! Im woman asking for help ans almost couldn't find the bus stop in the middle of the night coming from work and you refuse to help me?! the bald ticket person had something to say so I kindly took my earbud out and he called me a "horrible person" and was rushing me to show my ticket when it was loading on my phone. I am so taken back. nobody has ever been this rude to me in my life. I did nothing to him I took my earbud out so I could hear what he was saying and he called me a horrible person because of how impatient he was. the fact he thinks his job is giving his opinion on people that he has no idea about is beyond me. I very unfortunately have to take this god forsaken mode of transportation three round trips a week. I would say 99% of the time the trains are late. And I'm not talking a minute or two minutes late I mean over ten minutes, sometimes over a half an hour. Today my train was canceled three times in a row. The conductors seemed irritated by our questions and desire for clarity on if it was worth staying at the station or leaving. The conductors seem to be underprepared for every less than ideal situation, which seems to happen most days on most trains. I recall being advised to get on a different train once when my train was canceled, and this alternative train caused me to get home at nearly 1am bc of how late it made my commute. I understand that these mechanical issues aren't necessarily always the conductors fault but they need to update their app and overall system to better assist and alert consumers when there is an issue, cancellation, or delay. Again I wish I didn't have to patronize Nj transit, but it is unfortunately my only way into nyc. read more

Express bus never came at 8:30 PM it never showed up. It was very inconvenient and I had to take the turnpike which made me 1 hour late to pick up my granddaughter from her babysitter which cost me extra. And when I got home I did not have a park for my car!!! read more
