Flan
Jennifer H.

We made a reservation here. The ambiance and vibe are super cool. My bf and I shared the beef tataki, beef curry, and the flan. The beef tataki was quite good, and the beef was pretty tender. The beef curry had a good flavor (although my bf didn't think it had a strong enough flavor). Some of the beef could have been more tender. The flan was interesting to try. I don't usually like flan, but the texture of this one was pretty good. I liked the Asian influence with the black sesame crisp on top. Expensive for what you get, but it's a unique place

Great ambiance except the low chairs with no backs are hard to sit in. Long lines so go right when they open. Best steaks we had through oit our 1 wks trip. Meat was extremely tender! Best steak around

Visiting from Los Angeles and we enjoyed this delicious Michelin rated restaurant. We especially enjoyed the fried rice, beef tartare and two desserts to share with friends. The staff was very attentive and friendly . Loved the ambiance too! If you're in Palermo Buenos Aires, this place is a must.

Enjoying the beautiful ambience, I sat in the octopus room

This must be one of the top five restaurants of the world that I've tried. It is amazing. I tried the spicy fried rice with shrimp and calamari. It was so delicious. I also added the fish of the day and an amazing sticky rice with mango. I highly recommend that if you have a chance, the opportunity to make it into this restaurant, you must reservations are highly recommended as it has a Michelin, Star, and people are always lined up outside.

I visited Niño Gordo about a month ago and have been meaning to post this review ever since! The food was absolutely incredible--creative, flavorful, and beautifully presented. One thing to keep in mind is that Argentina has a more relaxed approach to service compared to the U.S., which might feel a little unusual if you're used to quick-paced dining. That said, it gave me the chance to soak in the amazing atmosphere and enjoy the experience fully. Better late than never to share how much I recommend this spot--Niño Gordo is a must-try!

This is the place to try when visiting Buenos Aires! WOW! I found it online listed as the city's best Fusion Asian restaurant and they are not lying. Make sure to reserve a table online. It's super popular, and attempting a spontaneous walk-in could be close to impossible. They've got both outdoor and indoor seating options. Our waitress was super friendly and she gave us some great recommendations. The food and drinks did not take long to arrive after ordering. For drinks, we tried the blanquito and the fucking sorrell cocktails, both of which were nice and refreshing. We went a bit overboard with the ordering since we wanted to try a bit of everything. I'd recommend sticking to a maximum of 3 dishes and 1 dessert because the portions were surprisingly generous. All the dishes are meant to be shared. Our food order: Gírgolas - absolutely amazing! Definitely would order again. Tataki de bife - delicious, 5 stars! Katsusando - really good! Arroz frito picante - 5 stars (huge portion) Bife de chorizo - super nice and tender Dessert: blanco y negro - a light flavourful dessert The inside of the restaurant has a funky look, with red lights all around. It adds to the vibe but makes it a bit tricky to take good pictures since everything comes out looking red. Overall, this place is definitely worth the hype!

I was in Argentina visiting family and friends and 6 months before arriving and planning my trip I knew I HAD to visit Nino Gordo an try the amazing dishes everyone had told me about. We made a reservation and sat at the Patio wich I absolutely loved and felt it was awesome. The ambiance at the restaurant is top-notch honestly, wherever you sit you'll have a different experience. Now let's take a minute for their food. Let me just Say WOW!!! Amazing things I tried. I still dream about some of The flavors and just salivate every time I think of the mollejas, the sando. I will Definitely make it a must-stop from now on every time I'm back in Buenos Aires

Cute drinks!

Amazing fusion food. Such a vibe, get a reservation and be ready to share and try things together. Great drinks. Absolutely must eat!

Each dish was so unique and delicious. Asian fusion food, small menu where each item is done right. Niño Gordo is more expensive and crowded than other restaurants in Buenos Aires, but definitely worth it. Nice ambiance as well

The atmosphere is amazing. So very cool if you can sit at the bar! The covid protocols are lacking. For sure too many people inside. So if full sit outside. Reservations are a must. Food is good. Tons of flavor. Least favorite was the Takiaki. Raw beef with rice and Ponzo sauce. Very sweet and the rice was not good. Bao buns are heavenly as was the rice and Japanese pancake. Good attention to detail and beautiful presentation

The hot new property from the guys behind La Carniceria and Chori, both pretty damned successful and popular (I have to go back and retry the latter, I wasn't that impressed but everyone tells me I'm wrong), who decided to take on the world of Asian street food. But not done as street food, reimagined as semi-fine dining. It's also getting written up as the most Instagrammable restaurant around - and the main dining room is filled with Asian trinkets and weird lighting and yeah, people taking photos. In fact, they're playing it up, and although people have to wait outside for a table, they're letting in people who just want to take photos and go, which happened numerous times during the dinner. There's also a long bar at the kitchen, which for me is far more Instagrammable than the dining room. Short menu of a dozen interesting sounding dishes.... Really creative specialty cocktail menu, and cute presentations. This Genma Saotome is a blend of Jimador tequila, passionfruit, smoked ají amarillo chili, sugar syrup. It was supposed to be decorated with a dehydrated slice of dragon fruit, though that looks an awful lot like a slice of dehydrated orange to me. Delicious either way. 200 pesos. Ostensibly this is small plate food meant for sharing. I'd put it as more of medium plate food - so there really is enough to share. But I was solo, so this meant only getting in two plates on this visit. You don't get a lot of clues from the menu. This dish just says: Langostino - Panceta - Coliflór - Coco, or Prawn - Bacon - Cauliflower - Coconut. Turns out to be coconut and spice crusted head-on large prawns, cooked over searingly high heat in a cast iron pan, served over blocks of melt-in-your-mouth glazed pork belly, and a cauliflower puree. Surf and turf taken to a whole new level. 350 pesos and worth every peso. The same can be said of the Molleja - Chili - Miso - Choclo - Akusai - Cilantro, or Sweetbread - Chili - Miso - Corn - Napa Cabbage - Cilantro. This turns out to be miso and chili laquered crispy sweetbreads served over charred corn, with a shaved cabbage salad and a cilantro mayo. And every exquisite bite worth the 395 pesos they charge for it. My guess is this place is going to become a regular spot to go and hangout for me.

When we arrived at Nino Gordo for dinner for our 8:00 pm reservation, there were about dozen or more people standing in front, waiting and the door was locked, which I thought was odd. There are no windows, so you can't see inside. Eventually, the door swung open. A woman asked who had a reservation and we stepped forward. Oddly, the other people didn't budge. Inside, the two dining rooms are lit with red lights, giving the place an unexpected and somewhat surreal appearance. There is a third room, the kitchen, with a long counter, in which the lighting is white, but the heat from the kitchen makes sitting there unbearable. The hostess led us to a table in the second red lit room and we immediately thought, "WTF?" The tables are about two feet tall and the chairs have no backs. It looked incredibly uncomfortable. I asked to be seated in the main room, but the hostess said it wasn't possible as all the tables were reserved. Mind you, at this moment, the place was virtually empty. I was perplexed and somewhat miffed that my request was denied. Again, "WTF?" I sat down at the table and immediately got up. This was nuts. We waited, standing, for our friends to arrive. Adriana had made the reservation and I hoped that she might be able to straighten this out. Within minutes, she and her husband arrived. She looked stunned when she learned that the table we had been "assigned" the very same table at which they sat a week earlier. She explained to the hostess (I didn't hear the entire conversation) that when she made the reservation she specifically asked to be seated in the main room and not in the room with the two foot tall tables. But the hostess prevailed. At this point, less than half of the restaurant was full. Given no option, we sat down at the ridiculous table and decided to make the best of it. The lights are red and the menu is red, making it difficult to read. "WTF?" My wife observed that despite the tables in the main room being of normal height, they have metal shelves below the table tops, so that it's impossible to cross one's legs (see the photo). Crazy. We ordered wine and five plates to share, which is what our server suggested. The food, which consisted of various Asian-inspired dishes, it turned out, was quite good and the server was correct that five plates would be ideal for four people. I guess the non-negotiable bargain with Nino Gordo is that they will make you feel uncomfortable and treat you like a child. In return you get fed. Interesting concept, but I have no tolerance for such B.S. Ambiance: 2 stars Service: 1 star Food: 4 stars p.s. There is one aspect of this experience that was amusing. When, after 1.5 hours, we all stood up from our ridiculous table and "chairs," we all felt like Gulliver, which was funny.

Did Don Julio's live up to the hype?…read more Can any restaurant ranked #10 in the world by World's Best Restaurants -- and crowned #1 steakhouse three consecutive years -- truly live up to its reputation? I'd say yes, and then some. A word of advice: sit inside. That's where the magic happens. The open-flame grills roaring indoors create an incredible ambiance -- intimate, lively, and unlike anything else. The outdoor seating is charming in its own right (cozy blankets draped over every chair), but the interior is the real experience. Service was exceptional. Before we even ordered, our waiter personally walked us through the kitchen to introduce us to the various cuts on display -- a thoughtful touch that made the whole meal feel like an event. We settled on the ribeye and one other cut, with the ribeye stealing the show: thick, juicy, and cooked to perfection over open flame. To top it all off, the meal came with complimentary champagne, chorizo, empanadas, and dessert -- generous extras that made an already outstanding dinner feel truly special.

The portions here are massive. And that's coming from someone who can usually put away a pretty serious steak. Here, though It's a lot even for me. Was it good Absolutely. But a little heads-up if you're visiting: learn how Argentinians order their meat. If you ask for jugoso, it'll land somewhere between rare and medium rare. Al punto is closer to medium, sometimes even leaning toward medium well depending on the kitchen. And well done. Honestly... don't even think about it. Another tip: don't rush to order sides. Unless you're just getting a salad or you're sharing with more than two people, one plate is usually more than enough. Around here, they believe in feeding you properly and they definitely deliver.

Turned out a couple of Food tours were arriving soon. Lucky we were ordering takeaway. Smaller spot with just about an equal amount of in/outdoor seating. We ordered a Chimichurri sauce on the side and enjoyed it. We liked the Pork more than the Beef-just was more flavorful. The Bread was thick, soft and held up to the Choripan and condiments well. Potato salad with al dente potatoes was tasty. They also have beer and cocktails so ordered a Gin and Tonic while we waited for our order. Friendly people behind the counter.
