My guest stated that the lamb was ok. While they opened at 7:30 and we had a reservation at 9, they ran out of the ribeye. I was also in Buenos Aires for a birthday vacation. We stayed at the Palace Duhau and when they were informed that it was my birthday, they recommended me Crizia. From the moment we came in to the moment we left we were treated like VIPS. The oysters were out of this world fresh and tasty. I'm glad I got those. I opted out for the crispy rice paella and am still trying to figure out how they did that. If you cook you know what I mean. Crizia was a pleasant surprise. I was with a group of friends who decided to go to this restaurant because the other restaurant didn't have availability. We were seated without a reservation which was a plus for 3 hungry people. The menu offered a delightful variety of options that caught our attention to the point that one friend decided on the Chef's Table while my other friend and I decided to share about 7 plates. Both of our tabs came out to the same amount just about. Our server Nicole was kind and attentive. Our sommelier Lucas was eager and friendly as well. I would definitely visit again. Crizia is sophisticated but not pretentious. The ambiance is dark and trendy, but service attentive and accommodating. It is also listed as one of the top 100 restaurants in the world (subjective, but also my best meal in BA). 1. The raw oysters were very good and well balanced. I love delicate oysters and did not realize that Patagonian oysters were much larger than Kumamoto oysters so it was a slight challenge, um, getting it all in one bite. Still, I would highly recommend trying a pair. 2. I had the scallops Rockefeller with langostine and this was delicious and buttery and rich. 3. The meal actually opened with house-made bread and butter and I swear on my life this was the best bread and butter I've had. The waiter detailed how it was made, but I can't recall any of it...except that I would eat this every day if I could without repercussion. 4. The ceviche was out of this world and the portion generous. I don't even know what all was in it, but it was perfectly balanced and had great textures throughout. This is something I would enjoy eating on a weekly basis if I could. 5. Dinner closed out with some chocolates. Tasty. 6. Expensive for BA, but not in comparison to the US. A restaurant dedicated to seafood and all the seafood are from the local different regions of Argentina to make sure farm to table all ingredients are fresh. I had the tasting menu, not cheap but pretty worthy, plenty of food to make sure you are fed. They gave you a little map and explain where the seafood is from on each course. The food to my taste are a little blend but they are fresh. There's wine pairing but I didn't get. If you don't want the tasting menu there's a regular menu you can choose from. The service was good but maybe too attentive. I ate early at 7pm and I was the only one, and everyone was staring at me while I was eating. It made me a little uncomfortable with 5 or 6 people staring. The decor is nice, high ceiling pretty dark place but with spotlight on your table, so you can see what you are eating. Crizia was by far the best dining experience me and my friend had in Buenos Aires. We spent a total of 10 days traveling South America and Crizia stole the show, hands down. We liked it so much we decided to go back the following night. I never do that. Especially when I'm trying to discover the best restaurants in a new city. I never want to eat in the same place twice. The only reason we didn't go back for a third night was because they were closed on Sunday. The first night we had the sturgeon (Uruguayan caviar) and oysters Rockefeller for apps. For main plates, we went with the rabbit and suckling pig, both of which were insanely good in their own special way. For dessert we opted for the creme brûlée and three different scoops of ice cream: white chocolate, Dulce de leche and mixed berries. I've studied in France and I can honestly say this creme brûlée was in my top 5, despite the awkward presentation in a large bowl. The second night we got raw oysters. I got the ribeye and my friend got the suckling pig again. We split the soufflé for dessert and it was executed to perfection. Never an easy feat. The service here was also the best we had during our 10 day trip. These people are so far ahead of their competition in terms of ambiance, quality of food and customer service, it's not even a competition. It's the little things that make a difference, such as the three different kinds of rock salt labeled in hand writing and not even letting us fill our own water glasses that make you feel like you're getting your money's worth here. Meanwhile, at other restaurants, we had to fight to get our order taken and for the bill. Every business that serves food in this city ought to go to Crizia and learn from the best. read more

Atmosphere, presentation, and service: 5/5 The atmosphere was wow when we walked in. Dark, modern, fancy, stylish, but still comfortable. It made me feel like a VIP. The service was very attentive in refilling our drinks and were very helpful (e.g. offering a sommelier if we wanted to speak to one). They were a bit slower when grabbing our check but they were very busy at that time. The food was presented beautifully and we really appreciated the free little foods that came between each course - the free tiny desserts (chocolate and macarons) were delicious. Appetizers: 5/5 The raw oysters come with a delicious elderflower acid and were very fresh and tasty. The Crizia oysters were very rich and had crispy breadcrumbs. The shrimp on toast was very good - the shrimp tasted so fresh and the brioche was crispy and sweet. Mains: 2/5 We were disappointed with our main courses which we shared: lamb, hake (catch of the day), and scallop pasta. The best was the scallop pasta. It had only three scallops (although we had 4 people) but the pasta sauce was creamy and good. It was something I would expect of a good pasta place and it was solid but not amazing. The lamb was ok but not super tender and the mashed potatoes on both the lamb and fish were super dense and tasted almost like a paste. The fish was also not very juicy or tender. The presentation of the food was beautiful but the actual portions were not very big and the food wasn't very hearty. We found this restaurant on Pick Up The Fork as a highly recommended restaurant for seafood in an otherwise red-meat heavy city. We were very impressed to learn that they were serving oysters on the menu but a little surprised when we realized none of the oysters were served raw (our favorite). Nevertheless, we ordered 15 oysters prepared in all sorts of different ways from creamy sauces to bacon-topped and served on pieces of burning dry grass. The tartare was also amazing and a great appetizer to share. Our sommelier recommended a red wine from the region that paired well with our appetizers and main courses. I settled on the catch of the day and the fiancee went with the pappardelles. Both were fantastic and some of the best foods we ate in the city. The dining experience was great and the waitstaff was very attentive. My Spanish is very poor but it always helps when the waitstaff is able to speak fluent English to wash away any dialog that may be lost in translation. There was a dinner party in the back of the restaurant near our table which we could only assume was for a local celebrity or an engagement party as there were photographers taking pictures of the group. Overall, we were very happy with the meal and would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special night out. read more

Loved this place Crizia in Palermo. Service was top notch food was amazing and value was great. The place is so welcoming. Keep in mind glass main door might be locked, just ring door bell. You can take a look at menu just outside too. But I do recommend going in and giving it a try. It will not be cheap but by all means compared to other restaurants in Buenos Aires u loved what I got and my friend did too and we were perfectly happy with the total we paid. We arrived at 9pm and it was empty. By the time we left it was full at midnight. The bar has great drinks too. All staff works together and tables are apart enough. Ambiance is great with nice oyster bar and a chimney in place. I can imagine in summer this place is great too as it has a great street view. I'll be back every chance I get. We saw this place as we were wondering through Poleramo and decided to check it out. I had shorts and a T shirt on and was concerned there may be a dress code. I was told no flip flops. We were then brought to our table. The service was excellent. We were given a waiter who spoke perfect English, which is important since our Spanish is very basic. He explained the menu well and made some excellent recommendations. He was present but not overbearing. Food came out on time and in an excellent manner. I started with the Patagonian scallop appetizer. This was very similar to a cerviche with flavorful lime juice. The pistachios countered balanced the other flavors. This was nicely done appetizer. It was on the small size and really only enough for one. For dinner, the seafood 'Parrillada' which is basically a seafood grill. It came with fish, mussels, oysters, and shrimps. Overall, pretty good. Four stars on this entree. The shrimp were a little soggy but overall, the flavor was quite nice. The portion was a full meal. We also had the creamy and crunchy rice entree. This was an excellent vegetarian option. The texture was intriguing. The flavor was strong but not overbearing. A solid choice. Dessert was the chocolate serena as well as the volcano. Of the two, i prefer the volcano. However, both were quite good. We also had two glasses of wine a piece. I had the house malbec which was rich and full bodied. Total bill was about $130 US dollars. Not bad for two people and drinks. I know this may be pricey for Argentina, but by US standards this place is a steal! read more

I went for a solo dining experience during a business trip. Was able to get a weekend table but at the earliest time (7:30P - very early for Buenos Aires dining), so I was the first person there. Lovely service, gorgeous interior space with lofty two-story ceilings (but spectacular sound control with fabric chairs and other discreet sound absorbing materials). Though I speak Spanish, I opted for English-language menu and conversation with the waiter to better understand the different ingredients. My waiter cautioned that the quantity of food I ordered might be too much for 1 person (defied his recommendation), but did have to forgo dessert. The stand-out highlight was the wood fired oyster appetizer- for me, that (and the house-made breads) was worth skipping dessert. Had a bit of an awkward departure as the place was in full-swing by the time I left, and the front door was locked with no staff around, so I had to figure out how to let myself out to the street. We really wanted to love this place. Unfortunately, the dirt is in the details. E.g., the forks they gave us were crusted with food (clearly visible even in dark candlelight). When we asked for new forks, they offered no word of apology, and the new forks they brought were similarly encrusted with food. This place is great. The interior is very cool, without being cold or sterile. The service is friendly and professional. The food is quite good. I ordered the sweetbreads and split the seafood platter, with my friend. I'm not even a seafood fan (I needed a break from meat), but everything in the platter was perfectly made. Highly recommended. My only regret was that we had to be at a show later, and this restaurant deserves to be a full night experience. read more
