There's a bit of a wait because they make it using liquid nitrogen, but the staff is quite efficient overall (but lowkey seem to be a lil miserable because one of them nonchalantly and without a beat answered a customer that they weren't going to be open NYE, to which his coworker later clarified they were?? Sorry, my dude). There are limited flavors but they seem to serve the classics with some fun flavors, too. They also serve affogatos and other things, including vegan friendly options! I got the mint chocolate chip, which was quite good. It just didn't seem like it was fresh mint but rather mint flavoring? I still appreciated how mild and creamy it was. So glad we decided to stop at Notroinfusions on our walk in OTLQ. It was over 90 degrees on a perfect May afternoon so after walking around we decided to stop and get some ice cream to cool us down. So glad we did! It was delicious! The perfect treat on a hot day. My husband had the affogato which was amazing, the perfect afternoon espresso pick-me-up. My MIL had the Mocha Cappuccino which was so creamy and good. I had the dairy free strawberry sorbet and it was delish as well, very refreshing and not at all sweet which was perfect for a hot day. On July 17, I saw all the good reviews and it was a very warm evening after dinner. A local ice cream shop was just what we wanted. There was a line (good sign). We ordered 4 different things. Affogatto, pistachio and olive oil and honestly can't remember the other two. All were underwhelming. Not very flavorful. They should keep a room temp espresso handy as the heat melted the ice cream with the heat of the day. It was soup. I this place... happy to see it's still here. I've been away for over seven years. Love, love that they are still in operation. They still have my favorite sea salt caramel . Considering it was a Saturday night it was really busy and hot day had a decent turnaround time with the orders. Unfortunately, ceiling was limited due to COVID-19 and social distancing restrictions. It was quite a walk to get to someplace where we could enjoy our ice cream. They have interesting flavor creations They have banana infused with lavender... Now they have also a peanut butter option. I hate doing bad reviews on a small business... but we have been coming here for a couple of years and were always quick to recommend it to everyone. Tonight was such a disappointment. We haven't been in a while, maybe it's been this way and we just didn't know but... it was NOT worth the money. I had the raspberry topped ice cream... i had the 'medium'... the cup was barley 1/2 full, it had one, small drop of raspberries on it, the equivalent of about 1/2 TBSP. The ice cream wasn't rich and creamy like normal. It was a total disappointment. My husband got the mint chip... it is normally SO good. There was barely any mint flavor and his cup, like mine, was barely 1/2 full. Sad to say but when we have been there before, the owner was always around. Tonight, he wasn't and there were 2 girls running it. When the owner is away..... the old saying the 'mice will play'.... Comes to mind. We won't be back, it's much to expensive for poor quality and the portions are small. We used to gladly pay the price for the quality. Not now.... After walking by Nitrofusions several times in downtown La Quinta, we finally made it inside. Although it was super warm on this day, I was happy to see no one was in line. They have a pretty cool menu on the wall. The available items and ingredients are written in different color chalk. Below the chalkboard menu, there is an area for kids to chalk it up. This was my first time at a place that uses nitrogen to make ice cream, so I was pretty focussed on the process. The employee even pointed out each step in the process. I ordered the salted caramel, and the wife ordered the Roasted Almond and Olive Oil; both medium sized. Both were great. The ice was light and not too sweet, but had plenty of taste. We did not add any additional toppings, but several were available. It is certainly not the cheapest ice cream shop out there, but I understand why it's a little more expensive. The making process was very cool, and the service was excellent. I look forward to returning to try something different. read more

Went here for a second time and the staff working there is now just not good. Had great experiences there before but they are not friendly and don't make it a great experience like before whcih is really the point especially for my kids. I ordered the vegan chocolate and they gave me regular and then my husband went back to order me a vegan chocolate and the staff said there is no vegan even tho there's "dairy free coconut" like just an attitude abt everything. Lots of opportunities to upsell (both here and at Creamistry, in fact) so beware when you start adding toppings or fancy cones and such. Your total price can shoot up fast. The experience of watching ice cream being made with science/wizardry was one not to miss on our visit to La Quinta! We all "Oooo'd and Ahhhh'd" while the woman explained how all this was about to go down. The board/wall showed all the different flavors to pick from, she mixed the concoction and then poured liquid nitrogen on top of it all. I wasn't sure how it was going to taste (nitrogeny?) but it turned out to be super creamy and delicious! I had the pistachio olive oil, Bianca had the maple bacon, my niece had their strawberry, mother-in-law had the mocha almond, and sister-in-law had the mint. We all enjoyed the whole experience and enjoyed each other's ice cream as well! (Of course we shared everything!) What a neat concept and walking around La Quinta's downtown area made for a beautiful evening. read more

Nitroinfisions is a cute ice cream shop in Old Town. Given the ambiance, location, and quality, I'd definitely come back if I were visiting the area again. I really enjoyed my pumpkin scoop, as my friend liked the strawberry cheesecake flavor he tried out. The ice cream was nice and smooth, but also fluffy/airy (not super creamy like Creamistry, for example). The flavor of the ice cream was pleasant but not very strong. Also, the price was pretty reasonable (not a huge surcharge for the "show" or the made-to-order aspect). I think the toppings list could be made more clear and some more clever combos could be made available. When we came on a Sunday afternoon, only one person was working both the cash register and the ice cream making, so it took a while to get our scoops. read more
