Need a treat? I have just the place for you! Great Shakes looks just like your 50's diner with the oldies to boot. I tried their Date Shake & it was SOOOOO good!!! Great service with friendly ambiance.

We parked at the lot a little bit down the street. We came around 2 pm and there was a line out the door. The woman that took our order was nice and the inside had a 60s vibe. I loved the inside! I got the white chocolate lavender and my friend got the strawberry banana. Maybe I just needed to get a different flavor but the white chocolate lavender was not for me. It was creamy though. I'm from out of town but I'll be sure to be back to try other flavors.

When looking for places to eat in Palm Springs, I ran across this place and immediately put it on my list to visit, as who doesn't love a milk shake? They have a ton of flavors and if you're not wanting a shake, they have Dole Whip and floats as well! It was a challenge for me to pick which one I wanted, but I ended up with a chocolate peanut butter shake. You can choose different sizes but I got the 12oz because 9oz seemed too small and I didn't want to pig out! Smooth and creamy and I loved the peanut butter stripe! I definitely recommend visiting if you're in downtown Palm Springs!

Our shake was seriously delicious. Couldn't tell if it was good or just a tourist attraction due to the line out the door. We had dinner and returned later once I checked out reviews and the place was empty. Ordered the banana caramel graham cracker crumb shake and it was the best banana shake! They made is super fast. Pretty sweet with chunky banana pieces. Had a thick little donut on top, ate a small bite, could have lived without. Anyway, would definitely return on our next PS trip.

The name says it all! Stood in a twenty minute line to try a "great shake". Although it was great I can't imagine a milkshake to taste bad lol Not sure the twenty minute wait was worth it. I got the Oreo with caramel swirl and it was everything I imagined it to be. The inside is small with a few chairs along the wall but overall it's more of a grab and go type of place.

Date smoothie is a must-try when you are in Palm Springs. It's a bit too sweet for me, but the creaminess and texture are great. The self-serve water helps balance out the sweetness.

You have seen the hype and you need to believe it! These shakes are fantastic. Super flavorful and just the right thickness. Combine that with a super cute shop and friendly workers and you have a hit! We had the Banana and Date and the Banana Caramel Graham and they were probably the best shakes I have ever tasted. You owe it to yourself to stop in now!

Cookie Dough Shake, nutella banana shake

we got the Cookie Dough Shake ($9.75) and the nutella banana shake ($9.75). definitely preferred the nutella banana shake as it was less sweet, but I liked the little dough chunks in the former. both were less sweet than other shakes in general, which was great. we got both of them in 12oz ($1 more, greater value than 9oz in my opinion!) and they each came with a mini warm doughnut. the line was long when we got there but it moved fast! it's a fun shop -- there's lots of shake flavors and little retro snacks and candies as well

The name says it all -- these shakes are great Every time I'm in Palm Springs, I make a point to stop at Great Shakes. It's become a must-visit for me -- nothing else hits the spot like one of their ridiculously good milkshakes. My favorite is their Original -- simple, classic, and just perfect. It's super creamy, not overly sweet, and the mini donut on the straw is a fun touch (and honestly delicious too). You can tell they use good ingredients -- it never tastes artificial or too syrupy like some other places. The shop itself is bright and fun, and the staff is always friendly, even when it's packed (which it usually is -- for good reason). If you're walking around downtown in the heat, this place is a total lifesaver. Whether you're into crazy flavors or just want a flawless classic shake, this spot's a winner. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.

This place will always be on my must visit list when coming to Palm Springs. Who doesn't love a good shake. We orders Oreo Cookie w/Caramel Swirl, Pistachio, and Strawberry. Everyone enjoyed each other the flavors and had absolutely zero complaints. Then they add a special touch by adding a mini donut in the straw. Everyone in the area loves this place and so does all the tourists. I'm already excited to go back and try another flavor.

If you're in Palm Springs this is a spot you CANNOT miss! This was probably the best shake/ice cream I've ever had, especially on such a hot day. The decor is super cute with 50's vibe, and there's soo many flavor options. A very insta worthy spot, and every shake comes with a mini donut! We got the Date Shake, Caramel Coffee Cream Shake, and the Cookie Dough Fudge Shake. The Date Shake was good, the Cookie Dough Fudge Shake was amazing, and the Caramel Coffee Cream Shake was out of this world, probably my favorite. The portion sizes are also really good, you can get a medium size for just a dollar more and it's huge! I will 100% be back without a doubt next time I'm back in Palm Springs!

5/5 Natural sweet for strawberry except the vanilla. Wow. Really great shakes! I think one of the best. I will be going back for the second round!!!

We visited Great Shakes in downtown Palm Springs after hearing a lot of buzz. The drinks were fun and definitely Instagram-worthy--with decorative doughnuts on the straws, which the kids loved. That said, the experience wasn't perfect. We waited in line for over 20 minutes, only to find out at the front that they were only accepting cash. With a line that long, it would've been nice to know earlier. The shakes were good, but honestly, the kids thought they tasted like any other shake shop. Not bad, just not mind-blowing. Prices felt high for what you get. Overall, it was a cute experience, but probably not one we'd go out of our way for again.

Some of the menu and all the candies!

As the cream yielded, it dissolved into a thick, satin wave, coating my palate. Back home in Fenwick, DE, there used to be a small shop near her house that served homemade ice cream from a local dairy farm it was excellent. One of our favorites there was butter brickle, a rich, creamy ice cream with pieces of toffee mixed in. At Handel's, they offer a great deal where you can get four flavors in one container for around $8, and the scoops are very generous. We really liked the salted caramel, but they have close to 30 flavors, so there's definitely something for everyone. Seating is limited to just a few tables outside, and the line can get pretty long.
