Very welcoming, beautiful studio that hosted a great stress relief workshop with a guest teacher, Camille. The studio here is affordable and offers a variety of classes. I would happily have given them 5 stars, but construction workers on the roof (not the studios fault) during the class hammering away and the staff in the front room (the walls are thin) talking and such during a class devoted to peaceful meditation made it hard to concentrate. I was looking for a regular temperature yoga studio in the area that is offering in person classes and tried Nirvana. I went to a few classes and I love it. I took class with Nicolette and Carrie, but it looks like they have a lot more instructors. I bought a package here because of the value. The cost of the last studio was about 25$/class, whereas here it is about 15$/class. I may have been intimidated if I knew the classes were going to be an hour an 15 minutes, but the time flew. The instructors seem very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful but I admit, I don't have a lot of experience or knowledge about yoga and am happy to be able to follow along and given guidance on the poses. I recently started yoga because I would like to increase my flexibility and learn to control my mind. I was very surprised about how much of a full body workout it is. I am sore in muscles that I didn't realize I had. Nirvana offered in studio as well as virtual sessions and different types of memberships to accommodate your needs. I was able to download the app to purchase a program and set my schedule. The staff is very friendly. Absolutely yuck. The studios are TINY. And probably not safe for the times we're living in. And the teacher at the desk, so rude. Asked for a credit and was told I need to learn to embrace change. Mmmmkay. Didn't ask for a mommy lesson, just wanted hot yoga class where I didn't have to look at gym equipment or possibly get COVID. Also when they saw my review on Google they each began repeatedly calling and harassing me! I had to block them. I took my first hot yoga class, actually first yoga class ever. The class was 90 min. It was probably 80 minutes with a 10 min relax at the end. It was tough. The instructor Bob was very good with first timers. He helped me with the poses and also offered alternatives. I burned over 1000 calories. The staff is very friendly and if you can't do something, they always offer positive reinforcements. And, if you can't do the poses, just to lie flat and breathe. I will take another class soon. The studio is located in Wayne and only a 20 minute drive (after the flooding and road closures from TS Ida abate) from the Livingston/East Hanover area. Beyond amazing Couples Thai Massage by Elissa and Joiil! This was our first Thai Massage experience we both left feeling relaxed, stretched and overall great. I loved how both Elissa and Joiil paid attention to our bodies and really focused on what we needed. The overall atmosphere of the whole studio/cafe is really welcoming, super clean and relaxing. We even got warming Turmeric Ginger Tea in mason jars after the massage. Their cauliflower crust pizza is also out of this world! Highly recommend. read more

My husband bought a couples massage/facial through Groupon for my birthday and we decided to give it a try. This is probably only our third time going for massage, one being at The Fountain Spa and the other called D2 in Englewood, NJ. Nirvana Yoga and Wellness Center is a small place with a yoga studio and a massage room on the second level. Compared to the smaller massage place we've been to, this was more inviting. We had appointments for 3:30pm, which we arrived on time for, and was immediately greeted and sent to a smaller room to fill out forms regarding your health and desires for the massage (for relaxation, focusing on specific muscle aches, etc). While we were filing out the forms, our two masseuses prepared our room. We were given instructions to remove our clothes and wait for them to return once we were on our beds. The beds were nice and warm when we laid own and the cleanliness of the sheets and the massage room itself is always a plus. First time facial: I have to say, for my first facial, it was wonderful. I would've liked for the masseuse to have briefed us from the beginning what types of products she'll be using on our faces, even though neither of us had any type of allergies. I would've been nice to know what she was using, for future reference if I ever decided it was a good product for my face. The facial lasted about 30-45 minutes (at least that's what it felt like). It includes a nice face massage, followed by some type of facial clay, hot towel for cleansing and opening of the pores, and massages at the trigger points such your temples, down the sides of your neck, and a wonderful head massage. Massage: After my facial, I received my massage from the second masseuse who worked on my husband first. I guess both specialize in either or so you don't get the same woman for both facial and massage. Anyway, the woman who did my massage was amazing. She made sure she asked about the pressure as she was working her way down my body. She was able to find the target areas of my body that were tighter than the other and worked out my knots really well. This massage also lasted for about 45 minutes. Experience: I gave my overall experience a three star because the masseuses felt a bit less informal than I would've expected. They were extremely friendly and welcoming, but instructions about one masseuse doing on specific thing was lacking. We were only offered tea/water when we were filling out forms but not after the massage. We were suggested to drink lots of water but weren't offered any right after. The masseuses told us we were finished as she was walking out the door. I would suggest this place to those around the area who's looking for a quick massage and not willing to pay for a full on spa. The staff is friendly and inviting, the place itself is very clean and both facials and massage was definitely worth the money. read more

This yoga and wellness center is a rare gem! Having practiced at quite the fare share of yoga studios in the area, I must say I am actually willing to drive 1/2 extra for the experience at Nirvana. I was initially interested in the special Thai Massage treatment offered as one of their spa specialties. I had my treatment with Alyssa. Having undergone a training in this type of Massage and being familiar with the subtleties of it made me initially skeptical. To my astonishment the treatment I received was beyond anything I had hoped for. Alyssa is an experienced therapist and was tuned to my sensitivities and specific body ailments. In addition she offered some very insightful tip regarding diet and modification of my exercise routine in order to facilitate healing. I am very grateful for the incredible healing session as well as the relaxing and clean ambiance, the use of pure organic essential oils and loving careful touches of attention to everything at a Nirvana. Not to forget their MUST DO high-end full-body Infrared Sauna! After my initial session I felt so amazing- I had to book a package of 10! The staff is truly living in the yogic spirit- extremely kind, responsive and attentive. If you truly want to feel at home ask for Chris - she always makes your experience at the spa effortless! Honestly, part of me wants to keep this place the little secret it is, but sharing the love is what they do and I honor that. I cannot praise this place enough and am surprised that it doesn't have many reviews since it's always full. First, let me begin by saying that their crew is exceptional. From the friendly instructors down to the staff who help keep the studios clean and help you sign up. Everyone is phenomenal. The instructors understand that you are new and are willing to help you learn if you are open to learn. I've had more than one opportunity for failure but they've helped me in so many ways and for that I can only commend and thank them. I'm a beginner to yoga and I've being going for about two weeks. All the instructors are pretty good and knowledgeable, the owner she's great and her class was my favorite. The good thing is I even if it's a small class of 2 they don't cancel and that's great I felt like I kind of got a 1:1 class with that instructor that time. I picked something from the fridge it took over 5 Minutes to know how to charge me for the item, then I was told that I need to leave because the person behind the counter needs to go, that was 30 Minutes before the store officials closing time. I came here to see my Chiropractor Dr Greg Trentacosta. He recently opened up a satellite office here @Nirvana Yoga and Wellness studio and I'm so glad he did! I get to try Nirvana's delicious shakes and snacks after getting checked by Dr Greg. I may even take a yoga class someday. The people here are really nice! The lady at the front desk is a horrible person- she will ask you for extra money and get personal with you- BEWARE! DO NOT give them your credit card info beforehand, they will use it for additional charges. I had to call several times to book the appointment. No one is available to answer the phone. Finally I was able to book a 90 min thai wellness massage session with Jeannine for a Groupon that I had bought. The massage itself was good- it's not a regular massage, it is more of a yoga/ stretching session where the person helps you stretch out all parts of your body, which is good. Jeannine was really good with what she did. I walked out after the massage and the lady at the computer asked for my Groupon voucher and dropped the bombshell! She said I needed to pay tax and 18% gratuity which I wasn't aware I should pay. She said it is part of the fine print in the Groupon. I checked and it was not there. I showed it to her, but she refused to see it- she said she created the Groupon herself and she knows she put it in there. I told her she will then have to figure it out with Groupon. Then she started getting personal with me- she told me the reason she doesn't like Groupon is because of people like me. She wished me good luck "whoring" around Groupon, and she went on and on and on while I walked out! read more

Had my first yoga experience at Nirvana. The overall vibe was very welcoming and friendly but most importantly the instructors where phenomenal. I had Aleksandra lead the class who made my first experience amazing. Her knowledge on the subject and approach made it super easy to understand - cant say the class itself was easy though, she put us to work! If you have the opportunity, I would highly recommend Aleksandra as she took the time to adjust my posing without making me feel like a first timer. Been wanting to try this studio for a while, finally went and booked an aerial yoga class. Wow, I regretted that. The instructor was condescending and rude. I told her it was my first class, so doing flips in the air was intimidating to me. She just gave me attitude and made it seem like I was wasting her precious time. I have been to other studios and instructors are calm, understanding & help you when needed (especially if you are a beginner). Really disappointed with her behavior. I had a horrible experience at Nirvana. They are nothing but rude and ignorant. I was attending a class for the day. I was due to pay so I approached the receptionist's desk. The receptionist totally ignored my presence at the desk while she was on the phone. Then proceeded to take another client who walked through the door and cut in front of me. They chatted and totally ignored me. I would never refer anyone there-especially someone of color. They should learn some customer service skills. read more

Had a great massage with Madelyne, eager to give her a big tip. When I presented my living social voucher, Alyssa, a rather inauthentic wannabe enlightened being, wouldn't accept my voucher as I had used one before. I told her it was a gift and that it was a new year since the last time I was there. She said all she could and would do was to apply the cost of the voucher and charge me an additional $46.00 bring the cost up from $39.00 to $85.00. Also told me she had my credit card information in her computer. I never authorized retention of my card information. Not cool. Then she told me it was a good idea to drink water after a massage but didn't offer me any. duh. Bad energy, bad business sense. I will never go back at any price but I will miss Madelyne. read more
