Ananta Yoga is a beautiful, welcoming studio with some of the most friendly, knowledgeable teachers I have come across. The studio has a great atmosphere, from the bamboo floors to the chiming fountain that greets you as you walk in the door. Ananta has created a real yoga community, where the teachers know your name and the students know each other. Beginners and seasoned yogis will both find themselves at new places in their practice after a few classes at Ananta. They also hold specialty workshops for beginners, lower back problems, knitters, and golfers. Ananta Yoga was my first official yoga experience. I tried yoga once in college and once with P90x - both of which I hated. But lately, I've wanted to gain more strength and flexibility, and also manage stress and my breathing, so I decided to try yoga again. I found Ananta through Yelp; the good reviews and "newcomer's package" seemed like a good deal. I tried contacting the studio several times by calling, but received no answer. I finally resorted to e-mail and received an immediate response - so i guess that's their preferred mode of communication. They were very helpful in guiding me to the right yoga session - I knew I'd need something completely newbie-friendly since I really have no yoga experience. Finding the studio was a bit tricky. I didn't realize the that there was a street you had to pull on to off of 23 south in order to get to the entrance. The first time around, I missed that street and had to do a 7-min loop around the back residential area. Once I finally got to the entrance, I was still a little confused until I saw the giant "Yoga" sign at the top of the building - the entrance is on the right-hand side of the building, up the stairs. I arrived only a minute before the class started (getting lost didn't help), but the teacher (Brian) was still very friendly and helped me get situated. The beginner's class, Hatha Yoga, was just right. Brian walked us through every step and took time to go around to everyone to make sure they were doing the poses correctly. I really had no idea what I was doing, but I didn't feel out of place or embarrassed in the class. The studio also allowed me to decide AFTER if I wanted to just pay the drop-in price or the "new student special" price, which was a huge bonus. I wasn't sure if I'd like it and I didn't want to commit to anything - this allowed me that option, which was great. However, I did end up buying the "new student special", which is an unlimited month of yoga since I enjoyed the experience (and I'm surprisingly sore, in a good way). Looking forward to the next month of classes! read more

Finding the place was a bit challenging but I figured it out. Entering the studio you can already feel the vibe of serenity and calmness. The class taken was a stretching/restorative class and it definitely did its job. I love stretching and after the class and days after my body felt looser and agile. I can tell taking such a class affected my body positively. I am very interested in taking a yoga class with poses to see how my well or not so well my body can handle it. The instructor was very knowledgeable and evoked the feelings of peacefulness and tranquility. She was attentive to each class attendee and noticed my breathing issue due to my arid/stuffed nasal cavity and took a moment to show me how the position of my torso helps in opening up my airways. It helped for the class but the issue needs to be remedied by me. I would recommend this studio and have been inspired to continue learning about this exercise and bring new awareness to my body. read more

I love this studio. It is the only studio where I have felt welcomed and comfortable. Lori is such a nice person and has a good soul. She made me feel welcomed right away and really listens to you. My dad even attended a class and LOVED IT! He had double knee replacements so was nervous but it was great and the instructor was so helpful. Anjela's class on Sunday mornings is a beautiful way to start the week she gets you in the right mindset. Anjela is always helping and giving wise words. I leave class feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. Highly recommend for all levels and newbies! You will feel welcomed in no time. read more

It was so nice to be part of a real yoga studio again. Gym yoga is not the same--not as challenging, and not as grounded in the philosophy. Good instructors, with attentiveness to you and safety. The whole staff really watched out for you. Sometimes the theory becomes a little lengthy, when I am eager to get moving after sitting for 10 hours. Female and male staff. Very responsive. Although I joined the studio only a few months ago, I feel like I've been going forever and in a good way. The instructors are fantastic; they are very attuned to your needs and capabilities at the moment. Each class is different and each instructor brings their own valuable experience. I had my first Reiki treatment ever with Antonette yesterday. She is hands down amazing. I went in with an anxiety-ridden mind and I left inspired. She really makes you feel like you've known her for years within just minutes of talking to her. Her treatment was just what I needed to clear my mind. I stumbled upon this studio last week when I didn't make it to a class at another studio in time. I have seen it on Rt 23 and always wondered what it was like inside because the outside doesn't leave much of an impression. But, I was VERY happily surprised at the size and serenity of the studio. I had not been to a yoga class in over 2 years and haven't had a regular practice in over 3. I am very glad we have smart phones these days because I found the class that way. I felt so at home the moment I stepped foot in to this space. I took the Kripalu class on Wed evening and the Vinyasa 1 & 2 on Thursday. Both were great, although very different. The Vinyasa is a quicker pace and more my speed but that's okay because we all need different types of yoga. I recommend the Kripalu class for beginners, those who have been away from it for a while or those looking for a gentler yoga. They have a great package for new students - $59 for the first month and you get unlimited classes. This is a terrific buy, especially if you want to test out several classes that first month to find the best fit. I will also add that everyone there is wonderful! read more

After being in a bit of a rut with my yoga practice, I decided to try Ananta Yoga to get back into it. I was looking for a yoga studio but what I found was a second home. The instructors are incredible. They all are so unique which guarantees no two practices to be the same and provides a constant ability to grow as a yogi. Ananta's workshops also allow growth both spiritually and physically. Just went to sing bowl meditation class last night. The studio is very low key warm and inviting. The teachers were amazing. The class was pretty full and they were able to meet each diffrent need the student needed. Everyone seemed to have a positive experience most of us stayed after class and discussed it. The studio is impeccably CLEAN.. which is always the first thing I notice when entering a studio. My favorite class is their Sunday 4:30 warm flow..
