Both of us enjoyed our meals, expect the spice level on the lamb vindaloo was a bit much for my husband and he likes spicy. He struggled through eating it but kept on because the flavors were too good! When we ate our leftovers the next day, they were just as good!!!! Heating up the leftover naan filled my house with the best scent and everything tasted just as good as when we ate it freshly made at the restaurant. This time we cooled down the vindaloo with some yogurt which was perfect - flavors all still there just a bit more mild and we were able to savor them more without the struggle haha When I made my reservation, I informed them it was my husband's birthday and although we were full and did not get to dessert, they brought him out a dessert platter with their popular desserts and a candle. So, so kind! The platter had the carrot pudding - gajar ka halwa, gulab jamun and shakori rasmalai which was a sweet, spongy cottage cheese dessert which I've never had but was amazing! No one ever came to check on us not one time. I'm guessing this place is going out of business because this was absolutely awful. I'm sad because it used to be a great experience.

Absolute Excellence. This restaurant is such a great gem and a beautiful find. We went to dinner two weeks back for the first time after finding out that it's actually opened. We were absolutely thrilled to see such a tastefully done decor and relaxing ambience. We sat to dinner in this romantic restaurant and ended up having a beautiful evening. The food is outstanding- very delicious and very fresh. We tried the korma sauce with lamb- it was flavorful and right for my husband who eats Indian on the milder side. As for me , I love spicy hot! So I ordered the Kerala fish curry and savored it with shrimp Biryani which was so good. The service was really warm and our food came hot and quick. Last week we found ourselves back at Nirvana. This time we came with our kids and they enjoyed their meal tremendously. My daughter ordered a Samosa dor appetizer and my son ordered the spicy okra and yogurt filled puffs - and pronounced that it hit at the right spot. We have another lovely evening here and I am an absolute fan. Owners are really nice and offered a signature house dessert pan icecream which was awesome! Another important thing I noticed was unlike many other restaurants, I found the nice size ladies room really clean and sanitized at all times that I used. Ok, this is seriously crazy... I have NEVER been interested in Indian food because I honestly just never thought I'd like it. I always thought it would be far too exotically spicy for me, so I never had any interest in trying it. Well... yesterday a friend I haven't seen in years wanted us to go to dinner at the Nirvana Indian Kitchen. She kept swearing by this place, raving about how amazing it is and that she could GUARANTEE I would love it. Sooooo... JUST to prove her wrong, I went. The only problem was, I couldn't prove her wrong at all... BECAUSE THIS. PLACE. IS. FREAKIN'. AMAAAAZZZIIINNNGG!!! Seriously WOW worthy! I have truly NEVER tasted such delicious food in my life!!! And that's saying A LOT because I travel for work and I've been to sooooo many different restaurants over the years! I actually feel like I owe my friend a finder's fee or something now, because I SO appreciate her undying persistence about going! LOL! I had the Tandoori Murgh, which is marinated chicken that they cook in a clay oven. Apparently it's a regular favorite, and I completely understand why! Ok, I have been meaning to write this review for a long long time. Since the night I ate here, I have been dreaming about that amazing korma curry. I always loved flavor and spice, but I never appreciate the "Americanization" of an authentic cuisine. And Nirvana gets that. They are authentic, spice levels are real. Food doesn't have color, which is a major plus. I loved the freshness of the meat. My garlic naan and tamarind eggplant was beyond delicious. Their server mentioned that the chicken is all natural, and hormone free. I love that and we really savored the kabobs. The interior decor is very inviting, love the orange and black simplicity and class in the dining room. Cozy place with some really friendly and happy team working there. This is what makes a great restaurant. I will be back regularly! read more

Just had my first meal here and wow am I impressed. I am pretty straight forward with my food and how I like it (American Burgers and steak type of guy) but I started making an exception for chicken tikka masala about ten years ago. I have had that dish in dozens of Indian restaurants including when I took a vacation to India a few years ago. Needless to say, I know good quality Indian chicken dishes and I have had a few that disappointed. However, Nirvana's was down right quality. All I can say is you need to try this place. The atmosphere is warm but formal. Just a very nice place to be. I am very excited to have such a good quality Indian restaurant in the area now. Don't hesitate to check this place out. Today I visited Nirvana I wasn't expecting the service to be this great but my mind was blown away by the staff's friendly communication and believe me if you don't know what you might like or not but the staff does give you suggestion as per you're taste buds . I had the samosa chaat for the appetizer lovely combination of the mint chutney and the tamarind chutney with the samosa and the chickpeas. After that we had the sizzling lamb chops the best lamb I ever tasted cooked in the clay oven healthy with perfectly seasoned and cook to perfection. Then we ordered the gravies and the naan breads. Loved the Chicken tikka masala it was the perfect mixture of spices with the garlic naan bread which was hot and freshly made soft and buttery. read more

Amazing restaurant, and such a friendly staff. I came here on a date , and we had a great meal. I have always loved indian food , but my date had it for the first time and here is what she had to say -- I have never eaten such delicious chicken all my life. She had the assorted chicken kababs, while I had samosas and shrimp appetizer which comes with a Roti. Both were divinely perfect. For entrees we had the saag Chana , chicken biryani and dal Bukhara which is the mixed lentil thick curry. Everything was delicious. Only hitch is we overate :-) Special shout to the wonderful service. Everyone was very gracious and friendly. Will be back Nirvana, very soon . wanted to spend the night with my husband for a late night dinner. After looking at the time we saw the restaurant closed at 10 pm . We headed out there to arrive at 9:28pm with the surprise the waiter told me that the kitchen will be closed at 9:30 I said I scan order right away no problem so that way the kitchen would have the food and send everything at once. The gentlemen declined and said no we are closed. We did notice another group of people having dinner but we weren't allowed the same courtesy. Our only option was to take out the dinner. horrible customer service will Never come back here. Everything we ordered was delicious, especially the curries, naan, and appetizers. The portions were generous, and the presentation was excellent. I have had a few good meals here - good curries and naan. All of the times that I have eaten at the restaurant, I have been happy with my food. Although the service could have been a little more attentive, the wait time seemed fairly reasonable. Having had so many good experiences while dining in, I decided to order food to go when I had a small dinner party at my house. For some reason, food that I had as take out that night was not nearly as good as the food I have had while dining in. This was our first time coming here. We saw a NYTimes Foodie review from 2015 for this place. The place still lives up to this stellar review 8 years later. It is so delicious; unbelievably good! It was not good at all. The chat was horrible and chunks of big tomatoes pieces. The owner tries to see you expensive drinks and got upset if you didn't want to order them. This is a fantastic restaurant. Food is excellent. The manager is extremely efficient very humble and a very warm individual who remembers many of his customers thereby giving a very respectful personal touch. Always addresses customers with respect. The SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------- + Interior of the restaurant is spacious, clean and has MANY tables. + Private parking lot is shared with other businesses that are part of the same strip mall as Mantra, but you won't have to waste a single second finding a good spot because there are plenty. + Restaurant is conveniently located right off of Route 4 at the border of River Edge and Paramus. Random OBSERVATIONS ------------------------------------ + Weekend buffet price is only $22.99 per adult (as of March 2026). Steal alert! Kids are 1/2 price, but if they are younger than a certain age then they are free. + Arrived at 11:45 AM on a Sunday morning and we were the first customers of the day. By the time we left, approximately 8-9 parties had sat down at one time or another during our meal, so there are PLENTY of open tables during lunch and no need to rush to show up early.
