Naan

Mantra (Located in Shops On IV Strip Mall) 275 Route 4 West Paramus, NJ 07652 Naan Chicken Tikka Masala This upscale Indian restaurant is conveniently located in the Shops On IV Strip Mall. I decided to explore an appetizer and main course. Naan: The freshly baked leavened bread was soft and pillowy. I opted to have the read flavored with aromatic garlic; there was no up charge for this added topping. The bread tastes perfectly as is is great for dipping. Chicken Tikka Masala: The chicken was tender and juicy. It was marinated in multiple spices and blended with a creamy tomato sauce. The added peppers and onions enhanced the flavor and the sauce is perfect for dipping any type of Indian bread. I highly recommend requesting an extra cup of the creamy tikka masala sauce; the more sauce the merrier! During my dine in experience, I received prompt, efficient service. I also enjoyed listening to the modern cover songs. If you are waiting for a table, there is a beautiful lounge and bar near the main entrance. The dining area closes in the middle of the day between 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Be sure to arrive early because the tables will fill up as the night progresses. #naan #chickentikkamasala #mantra #paramusnj #indiancuisine

We came here on the recommendation of some Indian friends who said the food was fantastic and they would know. Indeed they did! Everything we ate was absolutely delicious. We will MOST definitely be coming back to try the buffet!

Wow this place is a hidden gem! Located on route 4 in Paramus, Mantra is such a classy chic Indian restaurant that has delicious food and a great vibe. Our drinks were amazing and the bar area is gorgeous-perfect for a date night. The restaurant is also chic and feels very upscale. The service was amazing and our waiter explained everything to us. The food was absolutely delicious!! We had some very unique dishes that were amazing. The Avocado Bhel appetizer really stood out-it has rice puffs mixed with avocado, onion, tomatoes, mint & date chutney. So unique and yummy! Also the lamb chops really were a winner and they were soooo tender. Honestly everything was amazing! They also have a banquet hall in the back for parties and it's a perfect place to host your next celebration! Insta: @thehungrysw

This place has excellent service however seemed way too pricey for the portions of food given compared to other nearby Indian restaurants. However the ambiance was nice and its a great spot with parking. We had the shrimp and lamb dish which were tasty, but unfortunately not filling enough. I would recommend checking this place out if you're craving Indian food in a corporate or date setting.

Have passed through this restaurant many times and thought of having lunch here , looking at google reviews . I always thought mantra was very expensive and high end restaurant and that wasn't the case . Amazing interiors with so many seats for customers. They have a bar once u enter and have good collections.. wish they had more varieties of beer . We ordered food and the service time was reasonable . Chicken lollipop was great . Loved it .. been a while since I had good lollipops. Not much oily and tasted well with the chutney. Naan went well with chicken tikka and goat curry . My friends loved it a lot . Service was very good and quick !! Reasonable price . Overall loved it . Thumbs up

Very good experience all around and one of the best modern Indian restaurants I've been to outside of Manhattan. The ambiance is very contemporary and the place is extremely clean. We had the lunch buffet and the options were all delicious. Tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, fritters, etc everything was flavorful and delicious. The naan was also excellent. The spread had a decent amount of variety and everything was very tasty, albeit several of the options are generally on the spicy side. The service here was also excellent and very friendly/attentive. All around it's a great experience for people who are looking for an above average Indian food experience that isn't in a hole in the wall kind of location. The price for the lunch buffet was also very reasonable given the quality of the overall food. I'm glad to see there are options like these outside of the city and away from all that traffic.

Mantra is a great option for quality Indian food. The ambiance is modern and sophisticated. The staff is very friendly, they frequently check in and refill water/ drinks. I came here for the weekend buffet ($20PP) There were a variety of great food selection: chicken tikka masala, chicken tandoori, palak paneer, and pakora to name a few. For dessert they had gulab jamun and kheer which was excellent. For the price and the quality of the food/experience it's worth going to. Looking forward to returning soon.

Decided to check this place out for a friend's birthday dinner! At first glance, the interior was nice and displayed an elegant atmosphere. We ordered cocktails to cheer - the gin drink was a bit too sweet, but the pomegranate cosmopolitan tasted amazing! Drinks took a bit longer to come to our table, but we were able to munch on some appetizers such as samosas, chicken lollypops (came in a cute bicycle basket) and let's chaat. All tasted great! For entreé, i ordered the Kandahari Chicken and my friend ordered the chicken tikka masala, which were both very flavorful and tasted delicious! Our server was very friendly and helpful in describing the menu details. Overall, Mantra was a pleasant experience and would definitely recommend if you're looking to savor Indian cuisine.

Wow this place was wonderful! So pretty inside, great service, and beautifully played food! I absolutely loved every bite! Fried cauliflower- so spicy and delicious! Yogurt veggie fritters - yum!! Creamy inside and loaded with flavor. Tandoori shrimp - mouth watering! Big meaty shrimp cooked and seasoned to perfection Tandoori chicken - nice portion! Spinach rice - so tasty with the sauces Can't wait to go back!

Sad to see how much the quality of experience has declined over the past 10+ years. Mantra was the go-to local spot for Indian food because the value of the service, food, and cocktails matched cost - my friends and I used to love dining here as often as we could! Parking at Mantra is so much better than street parking in Hoboken! But nowadays, you don't get rice with the entrees unless you ask, no appetizer papadum, the samosas have shrunken down in size, and they insist on taking your leftovers to the kitchen to package them instead of letting patrons do so at the table themselves. When we asked for to-go containers, we had to be firm in our request as we were met with resistance initially, which was rather strange. My friend also ordered the same cocktail twice and while the first one tasted good, the second one came out really late and tasted like it had been sitting for a while before they remembered to serve it. Crème brûlée for dessert was only custard with no crust on the top - both taste and presentation were disappointing. I hope to see Mantra revert back to how it was a decade ago, but for now my friends and I will be going way out of the way for better Indian food, healthy portions, and fair pricing.

Put simply, Indian food of this caliber is not usually found this far north in NJ. Excellent. Portions are modest but quality is not.

Being a…read morefirst-timer here, I ordered my usual litmus test dishes of chicken tikka masala and saag paneer (the classics), along with goat kolhapuri, butter chicken, and accompaniments of garlic naan and mango lassi. The chicken lollipop appetizer arrived looking the part - hot, crispy, and slightly zesty - but unfortunately didn't deliver on its visual promise. The dough was too thick and the meat rather rubbery, so the execution wasn't up to par. The mains, however, were redeeming. The gravy in the chicken tikka masala was delectable, and we enjoyed this as well as the kholapuri (which we asked for "extra spicy" but was just medium spicy to me - I'm sure others would disagree lol). My child loved his butter chicken. Both dishes featured substantial chunks of chicken. The saag paneer deserves to be mentioned for having a rough-chopped texture that I prefer, looking like actual spinach and not the zealously over-puréed green smoothie so many Indian restaurants inexplicably trot out. A touch over-salted, but otherwise tasty, and with an abundance of paneer. The lassi and garlic naan were both great. Portions are generous, and it's BYOB. Should you forget to bring something inebriating, a liquor shop is conveniently located just a couple of doors down. Owner/manager Austin is so welcoming and personable, earning this place extra hospitality points. I appreciate a business operator who is attentive to customers and shows genuine interest and concern. It makes a difference.

The new Paramus spot is bright, clean, and easy--self-serve setup, quick service, no fuss. We tried the Pav Bhaji, Smoked Paneer Tikka, Butter Chicken with Naan, plus Chhaas and Nimbu Pani. Everything hit the spot - especially the Tender paneer tikka & the spicy pav bhaji. The Nimbu Pani was just okay, but that's a small miss in an otherwise excellent meal. Great quality, neat packaging, and authentic flavors. Definitely my new go-to when the Indian food craving hits.

Most of the dishes had some sort of spice, very limited non spicy options. They pre make the base sauce so the spice level is not adjustable. We ordered a lot of the dishes from the menu starting with corn chaat and samosa. Corn chaat didn't really have corn, it was more like corn flakes with tomatoes and onions. The dish was blend, it needed some dressing sauce or yogurt on top to make it tastier. Samosa had good potato fillings, came with green and tamarind chutneys. For entree we got the chicken tikka masala, chicken korma with rice, naan and garlic naan with Amul cheese. Tikka masala was super delicious, thick spicy sauce. I was so glad to see chicken was moist not dry. Korma was a good too. The rice was cooked with jeera, had wonderful aroma. Both naan were excellent, loved the Amul one especially, it was so cheesy. We had the brownie ice cream for dessert, was a yummy one too. The mango lassi was also good, was on the thicker side. All our dishes came out so quickly, almost seemed like they had everything ready to go in the kitchen. It's semi self-served, plastic forks, spoon, knives and plates are next to the register. They serve the dishes in to go boxes, so very easy to pack any leftovers, just need the lids. Overall we loved the food and the atmosphere. Glad to see a good Indian restaurant establishing itself in the area.
