Stopped in one evening for a late dinner. We were so appreciative because we were new to the area and were just trying to find somewhere that would have pretty good vegetarian food nearby. They were about to close as we rushed to the restaurant to get some last minute south-indian and chaat food for the day, and they welcomed us in. For that alone I would say they have amazing customer service and were SO nice. The only reason I'm docking a star is because the bhel puri that I ordered was a bit stale - but she did tell me that the chaat food might not be the best to order that late. I think their south indian food is the best - their portion size was great for the price and the uttapam was so good. The sambar was my favorite - it wasn't too spicy, salty, or oily, which are usually one of the three that always make me leave the sambar behind. This one I finished! Home sweet Dosa. This place has some really delicious food whether you are vegetarian or not (I'm not). But I find myself craving this place at times after a while of not coming here. My favorites include the butter masala dosa, spring dosa, medu vada, and the vermicelli dessert! Lately, I feel like there has been less masala in the dosa than the full amount, but it has still been delish I only wish that they would use real plates/utensil/cups. When dining in, the styrofoam and plastic cutlery really takes away from the full dining experience and enjoying the food to the fullest as its not as easy to eat/share using plastic/styrofoam, not to mention it creates a lot of waste. There's a Woodlands in FL that's phenomenal so I thought this was another location that had the same food. They had pretty much the same food and overall, everything was really good. The pani puri was okay, the water tasted like they used the packet instead of with fresh ingredients. The chole puri was amazing. I could eat that everyday for the rest of my life and without complaint. The sambar that came with the dosa and the coconut chutney thing was really, really good. The dosa itself was crispy in some places, soggy in others. I've never had a soggy dosa before. Hopefully I just got a bad dosa and it's usually crispy, but I wont order that if I go there again. Their mango lassi was deff made from those huge cans of mystery "mango" pulp, so maybe dont order that if you arent into it. Deff recommend this joint (but not their dosas). read more

My family and I come here often for our dosa fix. I'm glad that there's a good dosa place close enough and we don't have to drive all the way to JC or Edison. This place has a wide variety of South Indian menu options and each of them tasty. They make their dosas crispy and cater to your variety of requests. The only thing that was lacking was customer service but that was only cause there was only one man manning orders, the phone, and new customers coming into the restaurant. I felt bad for him because more and more people and calls kept coming as the night wore on. The complimentary rasam they give in the beginning is spicy so watch out! The dosas are really tasty. Started with Medu wada which seemed like it was double fried and hence was very very oily. The chutneys were no good. Next came the Mysore Dosa and Masala dosa. Again both were full of oil and all sides were almost burnt. Lacked taste. Non of the accompaniments- Sambhar, chutneys had any flavor. I was not a happy camper going to this restaurant! The food wasn't all that great, the presentation of the food killed me and the portions was very small. My family and I go in. The waiter brings plastic untensils didn't think anything of it. Later on brings a plastic cup and then I started to think "WTF?!". We place our order for food and I lost it! This is a small restaurant that serves delicious food and services are very quick. All the tables were filled up on a Sunday noon. We got medu vada, idli, onion chili uttapam, sev puri and samosa chat, mysore coffee and paan. We were not disappointed with anything. The chaat could have definitely been better, and I felt the dosa lacked salt. I live in Jersey City, so I've had some good dosa, however, I enjoyed the spice level at woodlands. It was perfect. This place is a terrible representation of Indian food. I decided to give this place because of the good reviews. We ordered couple of masala dosa, idli, medu vada and puri. Every dish was terrible. The idli was obviously allowed to sour to much. The sambar and chutneys had no flavor. The puri was a fried chapati- not a puri. The masala dosa had a dry coating inside and no flavor. The medu vada could not meet the criteria for medu vada. It was a strange flat greasy donut. The dishes were not edible. We left after a few bites. None of us had anything good to say about the food. Even the water tasted off- definitely tap/ filter needs to be changed. The food was all served on the cheapest plastic dishes, along with plastic cups and forks. We got a few dishes to share: - Papdi chaat - it was a good mix of textures and flavours of spice and sourness, but the dish lacked vegetables (eg. onions) and more chickpeas - Mysore Sada Dosai - it wasn't that crispy, the only crisp parts were on the edges. As you work your way towards the center of the dosai, it was rather soggy even though there was no filling. However, the coconut chutney that came with the dosai was delicious! It went well with the spice of the dosai (even though it wasn't spicy). - Vegetable Uthappam - taste-wise, it was a solid uthappam, but it did look a little sad. Its taste that matters right? The place is small but has adequate seating. The inside appears average. The staff is very friendly even if you aren't Indian, which I loved. The food is what really got me though. I always order the Onion Rava Masala Dosa. I love the coconut sauce that comes with it because it pairs beautifully. The portion is large and I cannot finish it each time I've ordered it. However, I am happy to save it for later to enjoy the full deliciousness. There are definitely other food choices, but I honestly love the onion rava masala dosa so much that I keep getting it. I also get the gulab jamoon which tastes great but it's a shame to pay $4 for only two pieces when you know how addicting they are and should honestly get at least one or two more for the price. When their previous location closed I was truly devastated. When I found out they relocated it made a rather mediocre day terrifically fantastic. Soon as I was able to, a colleague and I went excitingly went for lunch and it was just as good as I remembered. While I went during their opening there was no buffet so we over ordered and took the rest for take away. My fatter isn't that savvy with Indian cuisine, and never had southern yet but he really enjoyed it. The Rasam is so flavourful--full of spice, herbs, and heat. The dosa was definitely larger than it was but it was so fantastic. The spinach paneer was excellent and so full of flavour.
