Translated from Hindi and Sanskrit, Upahar  () is the name of this family-owned/run establishment, meaning "gifts" or "presents," where I came for lunch. Upon entering as a first-timer on Garden Street in Carlstadt, I was greeted by the staff. I got a booth inside this cozy and inviting interior with five booths and two tables playing traditional music. I decided on the Thali set with chicken, consisting of Mixed Pickles, Daal (lentil), Mixed Vegetable Curry, Buttered Chicken, Basmati, and Gulab jamun with yogurt as dessert. The meal consisted of small dishes presented beautifully with rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced food. One can truly taste the authenticity in every bite enough for two.
