I was in the neighborhood, stopped by for lunch and loved it! The restaurant was extremely clean, they have a great selection of vegan food, the prices are reasonable and the owner was very friendly. I tried a vegetable burger w/fries and it was fantastic. I will definitely be going back again to try some more of their items! They have something for everyone.

So I have tried the Hoboken location so wanted to give this location a try. First they rarely answer the phone. I tried to call before and no one ever answered. Luckily after a couple tries I got someone. The server answered and I ordered the chickpea over rice and koftah wrap and it came to close to $15. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in and the man that took my order was working alone. I called to him and he came and took my payment and my food. When I got home I dug in and I liked the chickpea and rice. The wrap was just ok, wasn't a huge fan. All in all I had an ok experience.

This is the salad. Disappointed that it's iceberg lettuce.

I was in the area and looking online for a place to pick up a quick bite and came across this place. The menu online showed pics of something called kofteh which I had never heard of before and I also saw a selection of chickpea stuff, a black bean burger and a dish that included falafels. My friend is picky - only an alkaline diet so I figured the chickpea dishes or the falafel meal would be perfect. In the worst case scenario, I figured the black bean burger would suffice. When I got there I was advised the menu at that location was limited and it's the other location that has more expansive meal choices. I was disappointed to say the least. I felt like their online menu or website should specifically indicate that. I mean seriously there are people who cannot eat their kofteh. This was my first time ever hearing about kofteh. Their menu suggests that this vegan dish- kofteh consists of cracked wheat, onion juice, garlic, tomato paste and many other seasonings. For those like my friend who follow a strict alkaline diet: garlic, wheat, tomato paste and black pepper are ingredients that one cannot consume. The establishment serves kofteh on a wrap or with salad. I chose the salad. It costs me $12. I probably would not have gotten anything since I was a bit frustrated about the confusion with the dishes they offered but the young man that worked there asked me if I wanted to sample the kofteh. So just so you know. The kofteh sits outs in a type of countertop built-in bowl that's carefully covered with plastic wrap. It's a soft, moldable type of product (kind of similar to clay) When they prepare your dish, they grab the kofteh and squeeze it into their gloved fingers, giving it the unique shape that you see in their establishment pictures. I tasted the sample and I thought it was delicious. At that point, I ordered the salad with 20 pieces of kofteh. But they served me iceberg lettuce in the salad. Why can't food establishments splurge just a little bit more and offer mixed greens, spinach, romaine lettuce or maybe even baby kale? - anything but iceberg! It's 2021 for Goodness sake and we all know there's NO nutritional value in iceberg lettuce :-/ All in all, I totally loved the kofteh (I brought some home and my son did not like it) but I was not pleased with the misleading menu nor the iceberg lettuce. If I decide to go back, I'll ride over to their Hoboken location where they have more meal choices. I'll also skip their salad and opt for the wrap. Despite my displeasure, I do recommend others give it a shot.

Restaurant name changed for a expanded menu. This is what the owners explained to us. This is our 1st time to visit since they changed their name to Happy Vegans and expanded their menu. I must say, it is the same cleanliness and friendliness. Additionally, a wider selection of vegan food! We ordered Tofu over Turmeric Rice, a big plate of cig kofte and smoothies. I like the fact that they are partially eco-friendly now, they use eco-friendly to go containers, straws, and cups. Hopefully, they will be completely eco-friendly soon! Their version of cig kofte is excellent, it has so much flavor, and richness. I should not compare to the previous one because the old one was good too- BUT THIS ONE IS DEFINITELY VERY RICH AND FLAVORFUL. Turmeric Rice was so tasty! Love the vegan butter taste. And the Tofu wow! It has unique taste. Soooo addicting! And it tastes like chicken (I am not a total vegan, but I like healthy food) sauce is similar to Teriyaki flavor but better because You can taste that they put generous ingredients to their sauce.

Luckily found this establishment which was tasty and affordable! Was a little worried since there was only one server until the owner arrived and service picked up. Had warm and generous meals. We would definitely try again!

I was happy to find a vegan restaurant. Only to be disappointed with the food. It was nothing to be excited about. I won't be going back.

Its English name comes from a Greek legend: Zeus had an affair with a beautiful woman named Io. When Hera, his wife, discovered his infidelity, she turned Io into a cow and created a horsefly to sting her on the rump. Io jumped clear across the strait. Thus, "bous" = "cow" and "poros" = "crossing place": Bosphorus = "crossing place of the cow." Located off of busy Franklin Avenue in Nutley, my partner, our friends, and I have decided on our dinner at this family-owned-and-run BYOB establishment, which has been open since 1995. A reservation was made for a party of 4 by calling their restaurant. Upon arrival after three years, we were welcomed by Nora, the owner, and made our way to a table by the piano inside, evoking a cozy, thoughtfully designed, upscale vibe with music playing softly. Their menu features Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine. For starters, we decided on the Puffed Rill Pastry and Grape Leaves. Our main meal consisted of all lamb dishes (Lamb Shish Kebab, Beyti Kebab, Lamb Chops, and Lamb Sauté). Our food was fresh, well seasoned, and cooked to perfection, accompanied by a beautifully presented dish. Everything was authentically made with love here. Wish we could have stayed for dessert, as they looked amazing, but some of us were in a rush. It's definitely on the higher end cost but worth the taste. Our visit ended with a hug and a piece of candy.

Turkish cuisine is a unique combination of flavors, spices, and herbs developed over thousands of years, influenced by the Central Asian nomads and Arabic, Persian, Italian, French, and Eastern European cultures. While New York has some great Turkish food if one knows where to look, most of it leaves some room for improvement. Could Jersey be better? The town of Carlstadt has mainly residential private homes, with a spattering of condos and garden apartments. The main shopping area is all of about three blocks long on both sides of the street. Translated from the Turkish language, meaning sultan, we have come to this family-owned/family-run establishment located on Hackensack Street since 2006 for Saturday dinner. The reservation was easily made by Google Assistant. Upon entering this hidden gem called Hünkar Restaurant as first-timers, my partner, our friends, and I were greeted by the staff inside a cozy room, where ethnic pictures and decorations as well as the music all add to the vibe. A great view of the NYC skyline is visible from their enclosed back patio. Their menu features Mediterranean and Turkish cuisine with a modern twist and serves alcohol. As an appetizer, we decided on the Kibbeh (Icli Kofte), Calamari (Kalamar), and Cigarette Borek (Sigara Boregi). For our main meal, we opted for Chicken Saute (Taouk Sote), Shrimp Kebab, Lamb Shish Kebab (Kuzu Sis Kebab), and Chicken Shish Kebab (Tavuk Kebab). All Kebab meal accompanied by rice, char-grilled tomatoes, peppers, and a small salad. Warm, fluffy pida bread with a crisp crust started our meal. Every dish bursts with authentic flavor and is beautifully presented, from the fact that Turkish families from all over the area eat here. The staff is warm, welcoming, and very professional; our server was Akincan "John," the owners' son. The price was comparable to the area with the right portion. We can recommend this place.
