R1. Nippon Cha's Maki - not bad but nothing special.

Service is quick and the food is yummy. We tried a few of their entrees and preferred the ramen over the rice dish.

Have not been here for a while, now they added more items (sushi) which is delightful. We had beef soba, spicy miso ramen and pork ramen. We also ordered spicy tuna, yellowtail and tempura shrimp sushi. Server was friendly and attentive, food came out quickly. We really enjoyed our lunch today.

A serviceable ramen place in Bayside. The tonkotsu ramen was not too flavorable and a bit salty. Also ordered spicy tuna roll. It came with 6 rolls. Other places usually have 8. Rolls were also average. Service was okay. Probably the best ramen place in the area.

My brother, sister, and I had an early dinner at Nippon Cha. The atmosphere was pleasantly serene. The staff was very polite and attentive. For example, they would fill your glass of water without you asking. I'm beginning to learn japanese food terminology, and you can Google any unknown terms yourself, but I found them to be very interesting. As usual, we had a taste of each others dish. 1) First off, we ordered a large order of Yuzuyebasaki fried chicken wings in yuzu sauce. ($18). I loved them, 5 stars. 2) My brother ordered Tochucha Chirashi, basically fresh sashimi including tuna, salmon, yellowtail, scallops, ikura, avocado, oba. ($35). My brother gives the dish 4 stars. I'm not a sashimi person, but I have to give it a yummy 5 stars. 3) My sister ordered Nabe with seafood, cabbage, tofu, mushrooms, and scallions in Tochucha broth. ($28). My sis and I rate this dish 4 stars. 4) I had an Unatama bowl which consisted of eel with boiled egg in tentsuyu sauce, and tochucha rice. ($19). I found the taste of this dish, and any miso soup we had, to be a shade on the salty side. 4 stars. Overall, I recommend this restaurant, and give it a solid 4 stars.

Wow wow wow!!! This restaurant was amazing. I went for New Year's dinner and it wasn't super busy. I got seated immediately. The complimentary tea here is so good; I'm obsessed. I drank at least 10 cups of that tea and the server was so generous and kept refilling my tea cup. The tea ramen was so unique and delicious and I love the tea noodles too! I also got the sashimi appetizer and it was fresh and delicious. And the hamachi appetizer was great too, I loved the spicy bite of jalapeño peppers. After the meal was done and I asked for the check, I was surprised by the dessert and let the server know I didn't order it, but she said it was on the house!! So impressed. And the matcha cakes were epic. Not too sweet, perfect fluffy texture, smooth matcha cream. I want to go back! The space is also beautiful and has a lot of seating.

It's been a couple of years since I've had Nippon Cha so we decided to give them another try on a Sunday evening. At 6pm, diners were already filling up the place for an early dinner. We ordered the gyu-katsu to start along with 2 ramens. The gyu-katsu came first and looked like it was perfectly fried. The outside was crispy and the steak inside was medium to medium rare. The soy jalapeno dipping sauce was nice but a little salty if used too much. After a long while, I found it weird that having ordered within 2 mins after the table next to us, we still had not received our ramens when they were already more than halfway through their meal. When we flagged our waitress down, she realized their mistake and quickly alerted the kitchen to remake our meal. I'm not sure how they managed to lose our order but thinking back, I did see them bring 2 completely untouched ramens from the dining room back into the kitchen, so that made more sense after the fact. I got the negi ramen, which had a spicy pork broth and chasiu. The broth was light and had a hint of spice. The ramen itself was a bit soft and not noteworthy. The kara miso ramen had a spicy chicken broth and was even lighter than the negi. Both ramens were pretty average and nothing spectacular, but I may be biased as I prefer much richer broths and chewy noodles. Overall, I was a bit disappointed by this meal, but still appreciate having this classic ramen / matcha shop on Bell Blvd. If I do return, I would definitely get their curry beef udon again.

    Chicken katsu

Have came here a couple times and I love it!! Their sushi is amazing, my favorite one are the spicy tuna and the salmon. I always order the chicken katsu curry and I love the amount of food you get for the price. The chicken is well fried and the curry is flavorful. Service is good and workers are nice. The interior is clean and has a comfortable vibe to it. Would definitely recommend!

One of my go to ramen spots on Bell Blvd. Street parking out front. The staff is always friendly and the restaurant is clean with a big sushi / Japanese menu. Their dessert options are also plentiful. I ordered the spicy miso this visit and throughly enjoyed it. The food has always been amazing. I just had one scoop of matcha icecream to end the meal, lite and enjoy the wooden aesthetics of the interior decor as well. I'll continue to come here often, it remains cozy and enjoyable.

This is our favorite spot on Bell Blvd!! The matcha is the best in Queens!! Plus, everyone that works there is so nice, which is always a plus! Shout out to Henry!! My guy!!

Haven't been here in a long time. Parking can be tough in the area but it's doable. You might have to walk a bit. We came in and it took a while for the server to get to us. She apologized but it seemed like she was the only one out in the floor for a while! Food was good and came out fast. They used to have like a make your own match thing? But I didn't see it on the menu. If they did remove it from the menu what a bummer

We came for lunch on Sunday after church. They were friendly and service was very attentive. Inside was traditional looking with wooden tables and chairs. We got the tonkatsu ramen and the katsu don. The tonkatsu ramen with the tochucha noodle was very good. The broth was full of porky flavor. The noodle texture was dense and not as springy as the plain noodles. There were three large pieces of char sui. It was a solid bowl of ramen. The katsu was pretty typical. The meat was pretty large and the coating was crunchy. The rice was ok. Overall a good experience.

Keisen-Don, Matcha Soba, Chicken Curry Katsu, Assorted sushi set
    Jennifer L.

We ordered an variety of different items to try such as the Keisen-Don, Matcha Soba, Chicken Curry Katsu, Assorted sushi set. The seafood was fresh with no funky smell to it, the katsu was crispy, and the matcha Soba had just the slightest hint of matcha flavoring to it but paired very well with the dipping sauce. However, the rice was not our favorite part of the meal because it felt like the chew to it was abit stiff and grainy but overall the meal was very good and unique.

Great people and great services. Best Japanese restaurant in bayside. Will come again. Ask for Henry. He is wonderful.

An Unforgettable Omakase Experience!…read more We celebrated the 4th of July with an incredible omakase dinner at Masaki, and it exceeded every expectation. Every course was beautifully presented, impeccably fresh, and perfectly balanced. From the delicate Red Sea Bream and buttery Scallop to the luxurious Toro with Caviar, Sweet Shrimp with Uni, and the unforgettable Eel with Foie Gras, each bite was a masterpiece. What truly elevated the evening was Michael, our sushi chef. He was warm, engaging, and exceptionally knowledgeable. He took the time to explain every course, the origin of the fish, the flavors, and the best way to enjoy each piece. His passion for his craft was evident, and his attention to detail made the entire experience feel personal and memorable. Dining at the sushi bar gave us a front-row seat to watch the artistry behind every piece. The quality of the ingredients, the precision of the preparation, and the genuine hospitality made this one of the finest omakase experiences we've ever had. Thank you, Michael, and the entire Masaki team, for making our holiday celebration so special. We can't wait to return for another unforgettable evening!

I honestly wasn't expecting much but the service based solely for the Omakase blew me away. The Omakase bar was in the back of the restaurant hidden away. The space was very open and the ambience was chic. This is a great place for date night, mommy night out, or group hangouts as they have private rooms too. Every piece tasted very fresh and were quite unique. The steam silky egg appetizer with crabmeat and fish roe was simple yet delicious. One of the dishes was an uni toro roll that was placed on top of our hands and was sprayed with edible gold glitter on us. That was a surprise and it was cute. And that uni just melts in your mouth. We had this matcha pudding with I think had an Oreo sprinkle in it was fabulous. They also surprised us with an extra dessert cause it was all 3 of our birthdays. Very enjoyable experience. Our sushi chef was very accommodating and made our birthday dinner memorable. We originally started out with the summer special of $78pp for a 12 course meal and decided to upgrade to the 14 course meal for $98pp. There was an option for a 17 course meal for $138pp but we were very full towards the end. They also had this $30 lunch and $60 dinner 3 course meal set for restaurant week. My friend's mom wasn't a fan of raw stuff so she ordered the Chilean sea bass with risotto and she wasn't a huge fan of it. The fish was a tad overcooked and the overall presentation of the dish looked more of a Chinese fusion dish. The risotto had that cheesy flavor but the presentation with the Bok Choy and the risotto looked more like fried rice and was confusing. I would stick with the omakase, which this place is known for.

Sitting at sushi bar, we asked Chef Benny to make whatever he pleased and that we'd simply stop when we were full. We haven't got out as friends in a while, so we all agreed we'd splurge for the night and worry about the bill later. What happened next was extraordinary. Chef Benny served up banger after banger of his favorites. From uni and spicy tuna hand rolls to sashimi and nigiri... we were in sushi heaven. He also kept the banter flowing all night, sharing stories of his own pals and telling us all about his favorite restaurants across Long Island and Queens. What he told us next we couldn't believe.. he said he's in this 60's! He has such a youthful spirit, jolly demeanor, a ton of energy, and franky looks to be in his mid 40's.. I'd never have guessed! We happened to sit next to regulars of his. They were a lovely couple who have followed Chef Benny from restaurant to restaurant over the last 20+ years. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety offered on the menu and the sushi was really fresh. My Yelp buddy Mike S. and I were both trying this place out for the first time. The menu consisted of classic rolls, a small appetizer section, and a list of signature rolls. Sashimi and Sushi options offered a la carte if you don't want to try the full entree. Or better still, if you have a few favorites and just want to make a custom plate - which is what we opted for. The plan was to try several things and make a full shareable dinner spread. Started with the sesame tuna tataki which was a nice full salad paired with sesame seared tuna, avocado, mandarins and crispy noodles. A sweet dressing provided on the side. It was a very full salad and quite refreshing. And we also had the garlic edamame to start, which looked to be tossed in some chili oil and stir fried garlic. For our dinner, we shared the sashimi entree which came with 15 pieces of sashimi. Then we selected some choice pieces: uni, unagi, scallop sashimi and a classic yellowtail roll. Everything was fresh and enjoyable. Chef Benny cut and plated our order, very presentable. Sadly no sake on the menu to pair with this meal so a draft beer and some Blue Moon was our drink choice. There's a wine list, lots of cocktails and a full menu for the Marco Polo Restaurant which you can order from as well. (Note: the tuna tataki was from that menu). Cross ordering is totally welcomed. Service was good and our waiter was super friendly. He answered questions and offered suggestions on drinks I inquired about. When prompted for a plate change, he did it without hesitation and swapped them out real quick. He checked in on us a few times during our meal and was sure to pace the plates that came out so we were able to enjoy each portion of the dinner. Dessert options were interesting, think s'mores egg rolls, fresh fruit, cheesecake, and cinnamon buns. Cheesecake was plated simply with a drizzle of strawberry syrup and topped with a cherry.

We were looking for a no-frills sushi spot that serves fresh ingredients and Akito fit the bill perfectly. They recently opened a couple weeks ago in the space formerly occupied by Kenta Sushi. We ordered: Kani Salad ($8): A little bland, but not horrible. It could have used extra mayonnaise dressing, in my opinion. Pork Gyoza ($7.50): this was pretty good. It had nice delicate flavor and nice thin crispy wrapper. Seasonal Fries ($7): we mainly ordered this for my young niece, but we all ended up enjoying it. It looked like it might have been frozen fries, but it was fried perfectly with a nice subtle seasoning Salmon Teriyaki Lunch Bento Box ($14): this came with white rice, salad, miso soup, California Roll and a couple of fried Shumai. Thoroughly enjoyed the teriyaki sauce which was more on the sweet side and had lots of onions. The California roll was solid, and I appreciated that the shumai was fried (which I always prefer over steamed). The only element that I did not enjoy in this bento was the salad which had a very tangy ginger dressing Three Roll Lunch ($15): there were a lot of choices to choose from, but we ultimately decided on Shrimp Mango roll, Eel Avocado Roll and Salmon Avocado Roll. All three rolls were pretty good, nothing too exciting but we were happy with our choices. I love the use of mango with sushi and quite enjoyed it with the shrimp. It was a pretty tasty lunch and well priced for this neighborhood. Service was quick and very attentive. They have lunch specials everyday from 11:30am-3:330pm. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a quick sushi fix.
