I think that's wasabi
Brandon A.

Cheap frozen fish! My family and friends made a last minute decision to eat sushi. I didn't expect my fish to still be frozen when I bit into it. Talk about an ahi flavored ice pop. The ahi lover's was overall tasty and could use more thawing. The Teri beef was descent for the price and ginger was fresh on the side. The wasabi looked like a green melon pudding so we left that alone. We chose to give 4 stars because the staff was so nice to us while we were eating and when we were leaving. Overall, a comfortable experience as we were the only customers in the restaurant.

This was a slight disappointment, BUT maybe this could be someone's else cup of tea. The place was clean which is a plus. The workers were very helpful, but the younger ones were on their phone the whole time. The rolls were HUGE - so much rice . I personally don't like that. Also you can tell that the fried items were not freshly made. But maybe I just caught them on a bad day. Unfortunately I won't be back but maybe you'll have a better experience than I did (:

Superman roll

Prices went up recently most for nigiri but the rolls are still decently priced. I ordered ikura, natto, garlic hamachi nigiri, and vegetable tempura roll, T dragon roll, and Superman roll. There was a lot of rice in all the rolls. There's actually rice inside the roll with the way they roll it. All the rolls were tasty and I'd definitely get again. Garlic hamachi nigiri was torched and semi rubbery. I wouldn't recommend. I took pictures of the updated menu because online the prices are wrong! I picked up my order and it was more than I anticipated. I hope ninja sushi updates their online menu. There's no description of rolls online or in store but Superman: spicy tuna roll with ahi on top and potato flakes with sauce. T dragon: shrimp tempura with some imitation crab inside and unagi & avocado on top

Door signs

21 November 2020 My nephew said he wanted sushi because he hasn't had it in forever! My friend is a bit of a foodie so I messaged him and asked, "best, cheap sushi; I'm in Aiea?!?" and he recommended Ninja Sushi. Of course I also checked Yelp for the ratings after his recommendation. The store has informational signs posted on the door before entry: mask before entrance, dining room closed but restaurant open for take-out and delivery. Inside, the employees are also wearing masks and hand sanitizer is available for customer use. The menu is displayed on a large board at the counter. I asked the employee a few questions about menu items and she explained what they were made with. I went with a tiger and rainbow roll. I waited in the restaurant while my sushi was being prepared. One other customer walked in after me and received her order. I think she ordered ahead, that option is also available. It was not a long wait though. It took roughly 7 minutes for both to be done. The employee added soy sauce, wasabi, chopsticks, and napkins to the bag and handed me my order. When we got home, we enjoyed our sushi. It wasn't anything orgasmic but, it was good. My nephew is happy and I would order again from here.

My order snack tuna nigiri, Unagi, shrimp Shumai , 3pcs .

Got a afternoon snack at Ninja sushi it was ok I ordered Unagi , tuna salad nigiri with a side of shrimp shumai. The Tuna Salad had cucumbers in it so I wasn't please about that . The Unagi was ice box cold they at least should have nuc it about 10sec or something lol. I like the Shrimp Shumai the best out of the three that I ordered . Of course the Diet Coke that I had as well . Take out only and social distancing practice here. Although the staff was very friendly. Customer Service - 4 Star Food - 3 Star (average) Support local and stay safe

Tornado Maki - 5/10 (was not a fan of the habanero masago) :(
Drew C.

SUMMARY (Too Long, Didn't Read): Solid sushi, a little heavy on the rice but overall happy vibes in the restaurant with great ninja decor/murals! No issues with parking! PRO TIPS: 1) be warned about the habanero masago on the tornado sushi!! It was toooo darn smoky! 2) Amex isn't accepted here 3) reasonably priced! FOOD - Tornado maki (5/10) - I know this is also in the pro tips but I can't stress how smoky the WHOLE roll was! I usually love rolls but even when removing the masago I couldn't finish the roll because of the flavor :( it's probably my unrefined taste buds but I did like the other two orders! Egg Maki (8/10) - very well cooked and plentiful portion is why this is rated this highly! Spicy Maki (7.5/10) - nice spice to this! Really enjoyed this roll but again, the rice to fish ratio made the rice a bit overpowering :( (Check out my photos!) ATMOSPHERE - Spacious, sit-down restaurant without outside seating Fun ninja murals which matched the relaxed environment Enjoyable happy staff PARKING - Plentiful, free parking No complaints PRICE - $$, great value! My gf and I were stuffed after this meal!

4 orders tekka maki. ONE shoyu packet. ‍

They are always nice when I go. The owner is very sweet. But 1 shoyu packet for FOUR orders of tekka maki? Seriously? ‍

We went there Monday for dinner and always Enjoy the great food and friendly service they provide!…read more They carry a large variety of cooked food besides sashimi and sushi. Food- 4 stars Service- 3 stars…read moreAmbiance 2 stars I just want to say first, the main reason why I rated this restaurant 2 stars is because of the ventilation situation which was non existent. We got smoked out and it got bad to the point where my eyes were getting watery. Not sure if this happens all the time at this spot- this was my first time. The service was okay. We waited over 10 minutes to get cups of water and to put in our order. I totally get that they were short handed which also explains why it took almost 40 minutes for us to be served. Ordered the Negi-Hamachi to try something different. Hamachi is my favorite fish served sashimi style so I decided to switch it up and order the Negi-Hamachi which is finely chopped, yellow-tail with green onion and wasabi over sushi rice served with tsukemono and miso soup. I was super happy with this because the Hamachi was delicious and surprisingly, I did not feel bloated or too full afterwards.

If you know, you know... and part of me really wants to gatekeep this spot, but Mitch's Fish Market…read more& Sushi Bar deserves the hype. From the outside, it is a hole-in-the-wall, but don't let that fool you. This is by far the best sushi spot on Oʻahu. It is on the pricier side, but the quality and freshness make it well worth it. Everything we ordered was authentic, flavorful, and incredibly fresh. My favorite was the toro nigiri, rich and buttery, and it melts in your mouth. The service was great and I am already looking forward to my next visit!

There is something deeply confusing about Mitch's Fish Market & Sushi Bar…read more Not bad confusing.Worse. Identity-crisis confusing. Because the fish?Excellent. Cold, clean, glistening with that dangerous little shimmer that tells you somebody in the supply chain actually cared. You can taste the quality immediately. The kind of quality that silences a table for half a second. And credit where it is due: almost everything I tried ranged from very good to genuinely great. But then the room begins speaking. And suddenly the spell breaks. The atmosphere feels like someone took a serious sushi counter, stripped away all sensuality, all elegance, all ritual, then dropped it inside a fluorescent island diner where exhausted civilians came to discuss parking validation and Costco receipts. It is the culinary equivalent of wearing a Rolex with orthopedic sneakers. The contradiction never stops humming beneath the experience. You sit there eating beautiful fish while surrounded by an energy that feels strangely... transactional. Heavy. Casual in the least flattering way. A room with no mystery. No seduction. No gravity. Like Zippy's accidentally wandered into the tuna trade and struck gold. And on an island like Oahu, where atmosphere matters almost as much as the fish itself that becomes a real problem. Because sushi is not merely consumption. It is theater.Restraint.Texture.Whispered precision. The best sushi spots on Oahu understand this instinctively. They understand that exceptional fish alone is not enough. You are paying for transportive experience. For mood. For elegance. For the feeling that the evening exists slightly outside ordinary life. At Mitch's, the fish reaches for Tokyo while the room drags you back toward a tired strip mall off the freeway. And then there's the crowd. Not evil people. Not rude people. Just an oddly low-rent energy orbiting genuinely premium seafood. The kind of room where one table is eating remarkable otoro while another feels one argument away from discussing used-car financing over soy sauce packets. It creates dissonance. Especially considering the prices. Because at those prices, you begin comparing the full experience not merely the fish quality and that is where Mitch's stumbles hard. There are multiple sushi spots across Oahu that equal or surpass the seafood while also delivering beauty, atmosphere, intimacy, and actual emotional texture. So what remains is this strange contradiction: Mitch's serves fish far above the dignity of its own ambience Which almost makes it fascinating. Would I be back - no . You can get same and better quality fish, much better vine, better part of town for the same Price.

We almost always get the early bird special (4-6pm) and while the prices has gone up, it's still an awesome deal at $22.95. There's a lot of options to select in addition to the standard shrimp (2) and veggie (2string beans, slice of kabocha (pumpkin), zucchini slice, and a carrot slice). No upcharge regardless of which options you choose. Miso (shiro, or white) soup is Japan status smooth. Something come to appreciate when you get it in Hawaii. I had the Teri chicken and sashimi option. Delicious With miso soup, salad and tempura! Also filling. Comes with a bowl of rice, not sure if they refill since I don't usually finish mine so hubby gets it. He got the grilled saba and sashimi. Sashimi was very fresh (as always) and almost melt in your mouth good! Teri chicken was moist and tasty. Hubby said saba was good, not dry. Service was good, we were asked quickly if we wanted to order drinks and our food, and we were checked on several times. I decided to finally go out of my usual choices and try Ginza out. Ginza is located in the main ward building (the one with the theater), on the side, between Men's Warehouse and L&L. We got seated fairly quickly and was given water. Upon ordering we were also given edamame to nom on while we waited. We also decided to order two rolls, an AAB combo set to try a variety of things and fried calamari for food measure. We got: * Jen's Paradise: 9.7/10, heavily recommend. I was really craving sear salmon and it definitely helped to satisfy that craving. I didn't realize that the roll part itself ONLY has shrimp tempura within the nori (no crab salad, avo, etc). * Bomb: 8/10, clearly I lacked my reading comprehension skills this day because I didn't realize that this was baked... so when it came out and the entire roll was fully cooked I was heart broken. It tasted good, just not what I particular want at a sushi restaurant. * Chicken Karaage: 5/10. I do NOT recommend this. They remined me of mochiko chicken, but these were not very meaty or flavorful. * Fried Calamari: 10/10, fried to perfectly in my opinion, each piece was plump and delicious. * Miso Butterfish: 8.9/10, it was good, flaky and flavorful. Just not something I would order again, but it was good to try esp it is something they're supposedly known for. * Mixed Tempura: 10/10, yum I love mixed tempura, no notes, it was hot and crunchy. I would like to mention that our wait was quite long. I don't know why because they weren't like SUPER busy. It took 10-15 for us to get the miso soup and salad for the combo. +5 for the calamari, +5 for the first roll then a few minutes after for the rest. I feel like 15-20 minutes for our first actual item (calamari) to come is kind of crazy, it kept being brought to the wrong table (2-3 times). Our server apologized so its not a huge deal. Otherwise, I still enjoyed our experience. I would definitely come back again to try the rolls I would enjoy more (utilizing my reading skills a bit better LOL).
