Took a little bit of searching to find but who doesn't love a good adventure. Located right in the Septa tunnel you can find Ninja Bao next to the post office and jewelry store. Buns were delectable and I can't wait to get more. Too many to choose so I just got a variety box of 6. Devoured them all for lunch in one sitting. All around excellent experience. Staff were very friendly and the food came out quickly even during the lunch hour. They also have a nice seating area if you wanted to sit and enjoy the space.

I had Ninja Bao bookmarked on Instagram for a while, and I was so excited to finally try it today. I ordered the gyoza sampler box, and it was just as delicious as I'd hoped. The service was great, and the restaurant itself was cute, quaint, and very clean. I was pleasantly surprised with a free scallion pancake--it was crispy and delicious. The portion sizes were generous, and my favorite gyoza in the sampler was the crispy chicken. The texture was spot on, with the perfect amount of filling inside. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try the bao next!

Business brought me to Philly, and wondered about this place. So, decided to visit after a while. I was glad to see that business was still there and seemed to get customers back. Ordered "usual" Tonkotsu Ramen...and taste was good as before. There was quite generous amount of toppings, though price was slightly increased same as other restaurants after COVID.

I ordered through Grubhub because of a discount. I got my usual pan fried pork soup baos and tonkatsu ramen. I got a complimentary red bean bao with a note wishing Happy New Year. It's a very sweet surprise. The bao was fragrant and generous with the fillings. The baos were really good and the dipping sauce really amplified the flavor. Highly recommended. Tonkatsu ramen: the ramen noodles were al dente with perfect flavor of the broth. The chasu pork was different from other ramen places as it had caramelization. It came with chilli oil and seasoning for toppings Overall it was a great meal

Pros - their baos were so good! The traditional bao was juicy and tasty (my favorite by far) - love that they offer a bao box where you can try all their flavors if you're indecisive - quick and fast service - the server was sweet and gave us some cheesy wontons to try for free - interior of place is clean and their menu is easy to read - cashier/server was patient in answering our questions about the menu Cons - not opened on the weekend - a little tricky to find (by the septa station underground) - no restroom in the restaurant - seating is not comfortable and space in restaurant is limited. It's more of a get in and get out type of place. I wouldn't want to lounge here for long

Food: 4.25 Out of 5 Ordered the beef curry dish with a side of chicken tenders. Delicious and satisfied my cravings for some fried chicken. Curry had rich flavors and fried chicken was panko breaded chicken thigh meat, juicy and cooked perfectly! Service: 5 Out of 5 Ordered ahead of time. It was ready in 15 minutes. Environment: N/A Take out only due to COVID Overall: 4.5 Out of 5 Fantastic little gem in the 15th street M-F Line. Located closer on the side with the Taco Bell and the Post Office.

First of all, this place is IMPOSSIBLE to find. Took us around 20 min and asking 2 people and calling the restaurant itself to even locate the place; they should really put some instructions somewhere on their website! It's in the SEPTA station near city hall next to the USPS office. Placed an order online and it was ready in 15-20 min; we ordered: - I don't know set (5/5): I liked the combo of 4 savory and 2 sweet buns! They were all pretty delicious and came with dipping sauces. - Pan fried buns (5/5): These were sooo juicy! Not that crispy on the bottom but really delicious and comes with a dipping sauce. - Cold sesame noodles (3/5): Wasn't too impressed with the flavor, kinda was just ramen noodles in some sauce and veggies.

I'd been hearing great things about Ninja Bao for a couple months before I managed to get there myself for a quick business lunch: expect a few high-top tables (one big enough to seat 6 or so, the others are 2-tops). We accessed it by going down the Septa steps at 16th and Market (NE corner) and turning right at the bottom (it's about halfway down that corridor). Two of us shared a 6-pack bao box (you can mix-and-match your baos!) with two each of: chicken, curry beef, and roast pork baos. My favorite (not surprisingly) were the roast pork baos--there's something about hoisin and roast pork in a steaming bao bun that is so comforting! We also got an order of gyoza. The dipping sauce for both the baos and the gyoza were tasty--the bao sauce added a little spice to the mix. Next time I'll be sure to try the gwa buns and ramen, which I've heard good things about! Service was top notch: friendly, quick, and thoughtful (e.g., we were handed a gyoza while we figured out what to order).

Oh boy, this review is close to 3 month late! Darn Covid made me lose all motivation performing regular things Anyway, we ordered various bao from Ninja Bao because my daughter came back from the Middle East after doing her study abroad for 6 months (2 of those months were because she got stuck there with airports being closed due to Covid). These bao were packaged well, and packed up nicely so when we opened the boxes at home all of them were intact! Flavour wise they were on a saltier side, but very tasty. I highly recommend this place. I liked the fact that they also have dessert bao. Seems like they do catering also, so I have that stored in my brain once this pandemic is over and have gatherings with my friends!

I went here with a friend, and it was an amazing experience. The place is clean and well lit. They had some music playing from the radio which gave it a really relaxed vibe. It is a hole in the wall type restaurant though so I wouldn't eat in with a large group, but if you're in town with just a friend definitely check the place out. The service was good. Didn't have any problems there, they were pretty quick with bringing the food out. Simple process to order and they take card. The food itself was awesome. Everything was flavorful and warm. The bao box is perfect if you want to try a bit of everything, along with the dumpling sampler. My friend got the Ramen and said it was okay, nothing too special, but definitely come here for the bao. They come with different sauces that complement the flavors. It's definitely a lot of food, so I recommend trying the Philly Cheesesteak dumplings. I know I know, not traditional but they're so worth it. It's a perfect blend of meat, cheese, and onions that combine into a warm flavorful cheesy mouthful. Don't let their hours deter you from trying this place out. It's definitely worth making the trip to for it. Can't wait to go back there.

Y'all y'all y'all y'all. If you're not getting the dumplings you're doing it wrong. These are my new favorite dumplings. I have been twice now. I picked up a fun box for my coworker and I. It is a quite a bit of food but for a great price. Every single dumpling is excellent. There is not a bad choice. Chicken, pork, veggie, or dessert. They are all amazing. I'm glad they opened the restaurant because it looked really nice inside and looked like a fun place to be. The line was out the door and I couldn't be happier about that. Next time I'll take the time to sit down, but grab some dumplings for lunch or dinner. You'll be really glad you did.

Curry Chicken Katsu Steam Rice Bowl
    El K.

Very very nice people serving the food, let's start off with that. I decided to get Curry Chicken Rice Bowl and my colleague got the scallion pancake and here's my thought on it. The curry flavor is really in your face kapow. Usually I'm not one to shy away from it but, it was too sweet for my liking. The chicken was great; the strips were crispy and tender-no complaints. I wished they would add some kind of veggies like carrots and potatoes for texture. The scallion pancake could have a liiiiiiiiittleeeeeee more scallions. I mean I know prices are going up but sheesh, a little more wont hurt! The sauce was great no, i like. Overall, I gave this place a 4 star simply because the service they give. Food wise is more like a 3.5. Please check them out for yourself and support small businesses!

I ordered my usual ramen and two sushi rolls to split with my partner, and ordered through here on yelp through DoorDash. Because of a system issue, my food was ordered twice (after paying it said there was a system error and it couldn't be completed and my cart was still full and after it happened twice I figured something was really wrong.) I had a sense something was weird, and had my partner call ahead to assure there was only ONE order, and otherwise cancel the second immediately, which he did. When I got there there were 2 orders, and the restaurant smilingly said it was already made and wanted to give me both bags. They REFUSED to cancel an order or to talk to DoorDash directly. I insisted on calling DoorDash in the store to make sure I got a refund because I couldn't afford to pay double for my food and risk it (what would be $84 for one bowl of soup and two sushi rolls.) After 45 minutes on the phone, and now cold soup and warm sushi to bring home, I was assured I would get my money back in "a few days." It has now been two months and I have not received a refund. I have been going here for years, and very upset on this lack of oversight on the restaurants part. I think they mostly interact with college students that are passive and they can manipulate. The restaurant said it was my fault because I used the ordering service they provided through yelp like I should have known better not to use it (and again, I've ordered online here many times!) They made my favorite ramen, but the countless hours I have now spent on very expensive cold soup and warm sushi-- I will not return until this is rectified. Other comparable restaurants that make ramen in other areas of the city of the same size will send me a full refund for a drink just for sending me the wrong flavor! it's so loud in the restaurant to even have a conversation or be on the phone to communicate when the issue happened (again college scene and club music.)

literally best vegetarian / vegan sushi in the city…read more okay to start, if your friend/date/family member is vegetarian or vegan, take them here. you both will have options. inside is cozy. service is really thorough and like a well oiled machine. for the vegetarians: The lime sinko roll is a classic avocado cucumber roll with a pickled vegetable layer on top and a thin slice of lime. the roll itself is great, simple, and a classic. my sister really likes the pickled vegetable and lime on top. I however, just peel it off. it's good but I prefer without it. the veggie on fire is what you need: probably their best roll on the menu. it's a cucumber avocado roll with a spicy zucchini sauce on top and crispy fried onions. it's messy. it's spicy. it's delicious. the sauce is orange in color, has tiny slivers of zucchini in it. I was hesitant to try it at first, but it's my favorite roll now. the vegan tuna roll: it's marinated tomato in place of tuna. i've never had fish or tuna, but it definitely tastes a lot more fishy. I guess that's the marinade. texture is kinda slimy? mushy? I feel like this might be the roll for someone who liked the taste of fish but went vegan and wants a replica. Not for me, but well made nonetheless. Appetizers The veggie gyoza: the gyoza itself is green, doesn't taste different to a non green dough, but visually that might matter to some people. sauce they serve on the side is very good. comes with a lot, at least 6 I think. tastes good. I don't recall any mushrooms in it and if there is they are not noticeable as i'm not the biggest fan of mushrooms. The Spring rolls: new to the menu, no meat, interesting? they are more soft inside than expected. not a lot of veggies. tiny. cute little app to share and try. they come with two. no mushrooms. I typically prefer a more veggie heavy and crispy spring roll but i'd order them again! Samosa: currently off the menu I think, but in case they add it back, this was very good. i'd order this over the spring rolls. they were crispier and I think it came with three. Miso Soup: it's a fine little bowl of miso. I typically always order miso at every Japanese restaurant to start my meal. i'm not picky about miso, but I will say, it's not my favorite miso. I still order it every time, just not the absolute best i've had. It has small little tofu chunks and some green leafs which I find are in most misos but I have no idea what they are. small little bowl. perfect to order first. edamame: very good I always order in the beginning and I have a bad habit of also ordering another for dessert. the veggie bun: I don't like mushrooms, but if you do you will love this. my sister loves it. it's not often there is a vegetarian option for a bun, so i'd get it. the sauce on it is very good. comes with two. Karaage: This is chicken, but my dad gets it and it looks very good and crispy. if I ate meat i'd order this. avocado salad: okay so the ginger dressing is a little different than typical ginger dressing which I like. it's unique and very good. the amount of avocado is amazing! it has to be a whole avocado. always fresh. the green leafs are a little big, so this can get messy fast if you're on a date and trying to be demure. this is a must order for three people in my family. every time we go it's three orders clock work. I tried sharing with my sister and we determined we cannot share this. honestly bigger than I expected and more filling than I expected. has some cut up tomato's and cucumbers inside as well. mochi: must get. one order is one mochi cut in half. so two people could share one mochi order. i'm team chocolate, but I heard strawberry is good.
